The police throw the book at everyone and get the lower rungs on the ladder to testify against the others in exchange for dropping/reducing the charges. That's one method, anyway.

It depends on the protocols for the area, I suppose. Where I live, if there is any hint of a dangerous situation, the first responders, both EMS and FD, are told to stage in a secure area until law enforcement arrives, regardless of patient condition. Rural areas might be much different. In this case, however, they died in the service of the plot, so to speak, so it had to happen that way.

Unless Kimmie takes an interest in evangelical Christianity, and drags Philip to a meeting at Paige's church, where.......awkward!. Nina sure has a cold, cold heart. Plus, I don't think the KGB is going to release her. It would have made more sense to come and remove her from the cell and then release her, leaving the other woman there alone, if that were the case. Anyway, if she really was spying for someone, it would likely be known to someone who would eventually negotiate for her release (one hopes). Elizabeth is so blinded by tunnel vision that she expects that anyone who disagrees with the American government automatically falls in line with The Cause. If she dumps that on Paige, it's going to be a major, irrevocable stab in the heart to their family dynamic. I'm surprised that she doesn't take after Philip's path with Martha, and lead Paige into believing they are working for a third, non-aligned country in the interests of maintaining world peace. Flashback to the 80's; I remember my Walkman. Play button (clack!). Stop button (clack!). I can't help but notice the interior decorating of the P/E house, and wonder how much grief that caused in the accounting department at Moscow Centre. "What do you mean, you want a brass headboard for the bed? And a Sealy mattress? Why do you need 7 throw pillows and a complete kitchen set of pots and pans? $200 for a pair of boots?" It was tough being a Communist in the 80's.

The though occurs to me that Markham's crew has been reduced to the point where it might make more sense for Boyd & Co. to come into the vault from the regular entrance, rather than the mine shaft. I still have trouble with the marijuana fields premise. A group of ex-soldiers from a tightly knit Army unit is not likely to waste time and money raiding farms just for available, arable land. It would make much more sense to buy some owners, and lease land from others, if the patch is what they're looking for. I think it's something far more serious in line with their former occupations. In real life, if the EMTs had been prepped for suspicious people, the first thing they would have done is radio in before making contact with the patient, especially if he bore a strong rsemblance to their boogeyman. I think they were dead regardless of their actions. Too many eyes on him that can pinpoint a location.

Even if the T81 crew bore some responsibility, the final authority rests with the Incident Commander, in this case Pridgen. He made a bad call, splitting his forces for one thing (that should have been an ambo call), and not securing the scene. It was ultimately his fault that the guy was able to get back into the building, but it might devolve down to the personnel assigned to keep people out, if in fact that had been done. As for personal liablility, quite possible. Some years ago in Colorado two federal wildland firefighters died on the fireline because of a breakdown in communications, among other things. The IC on the fire was terminated from employment and the DOJ investigated with the idea of charging him with negligent homicide. Back to the story: Does Molly's ever make any money, what with all the rounds of free drinks that get offered up? And, what I want to know, just offhand, is how the squad and the truck, dispatched to the same incident and leaving from the same house, always end up approaching from different directions. Too bad the BC arc disappeared so fast. If they wanted to do a real soapie, his ex could have slept her way through the 51 staff and caused all kinds of rumble. Methinks the donor teen story is not going to go away. That's okay, though. Gabby will step in and act as mediator and confidant to everyone, and thereby save the day.

Ron Swanson: Pyramid of Greatness
Dowel Jones replied to Veruca Assault's topic in Parks & Recreation [V]
I watched the Seth Myers show, and couldn't figure out who the bearded guy was (Must be one of the writers?) until he spoke. Can anyone tell me how a guy can grow that much beard in the two months since filming ended and this show? Zut alors! -
The crime set in Harlan better hope the price of coal doesn't go up again. Too much pokin' around in those tunnels could lead to a lot of unfriendly questions. Then again, the more enterpreneurial ones could buy up a few tunnels and diversify their income.

As was Amy's closing comment "Yeah, I'm ready" and that beautiful smile straight at the camera. Call me a sucker for outtakes, especially on a comedy show, but I rewound the credits/bloopers three times so I could watch each of the sections individually. And the sadly prescient (to me) use of the Travelling Wilburys song to finish it out.

See, now there you have it. President Alfre, being obsessed over the death of her son and the separation of her husband, becomes more unhinged and starts stalking Charleston. Crossover potential!

Since the Bobby Darin version of "Beyond the Sea" was recorded in 1959 ( I had to look that up, I'm not that old), I took the implication that it was from the JFK era, if not the actual vehicle. Or maybe it was just a red herring. Bad joke, sorry.

My favorite response to that is from the Tuco's bathtub scene in The Good, the Bad and the Ugly: "If you're going to shoot, shoot. Don't talk." Pretty simple, really. They Googled "Missing Suicide Vest Locations" and cross-referenced the latitude and longitude. We're there.

I missed something there, but does the CoS have the authority to speak for the President on drone strikes? Or was Cyrus just exercising his prerogative to countermand the CIA commander? Doesn't matter. Professor Smartbrain says that teleporting is impossible. And I'm pretty sure a deadbolt secured with #8 woodscrews is not really a deterrent to a kidnapper enamored of a $2 billion prize. Speaking of which, again, I may have missed something, but, for all the professionalism of the kidnap, Olivia was basically being held by a bunch of frat brats? (As Poppa Pope breaks into an old Boy Scout song) Oh. No. He's. Up to. My. Toe. Oh, Gee. He's. Up to. My. Knee.....

Especially if the time comes for Elizabeth to pimp her out in order to seduce a target. Sorry for the mental image on par with Philip, but that's how I'm seeing Elizabeth. "They're not our children, they're assets of the state" kind of mentality. Do either Philip or Elizabeth have any time to actually work at the travel agency? Although it's not really on par with a defector at Zinalda's level, I remember reading of one of the high level KGB defectors and how he was closeted in a secret safe house for over two years, all the while being relentlessly interrogated to ensure his story was true and he wasn't a plant.

Sure beats "phlox" and "Stygian" for entertainment value.

And not to mention inviting her down to the fire station to hang out any time she wants. Don't worry if we all leave, sweetie, what could go wrong? One does not usually rise to the rank of supervisor in a fire department without first learning how to deal with irascible supervisors. And one certainly learns how command on a fireground emergency works. So, Chief Boden is in charge of just the truck, the ambulance, and the squad at the station? Because none of the engine people came out of the woodwork to bid him farewell, and I'm not even sure they were at the morning briefing. The new chief was absolutely right about one thing. Do not ever freelance on a fire, especially by yourself. Chief handled it wrong back at the firehouse, but, then again, plot requires him to do so. Otis was extremely lucky. Gabby might have had to go in, find him and pull him out, and then put the fire out in her spare minute.

That is just tooooo damn funny.

Parks & Rec Unpopular Opinions

I like watching April, but perhaps not the character, simply for the fact that I marvel at how much white-eye the actress is able to show. Do they tape her eyelids back or what? -
S01.E12: She's A Murderer
Dowel Jones replied to Tara Ariano's topic in How To Get Away With Murder [V]
The problem with using a henchman/woman to help you cover up a murder is that, if ever they get caught up in some other felonious endeavor of any sort, they whip out the "I have information you might want to hear" card and things go downhill in a hot second. It may be a moot point because Michaela is on the edge of total collapse anyway. That was some fine detective work in the office, boys. You find the scales on the floor, and Bonnie immediately picks up the large-metal-object-that-suspiciously- resembles-the-murder-weapon-from-the-forensic-work-done-back-at-the-lab and walks right by everyone to reunite said scales with Blind Justice. Don't everybody jump to a conclusion at once, now. And wouldn't scrubbing the wood floor in one spot leave a residue or a pattern that was not apparent on the rest of the floor? As for the phone call, I first thought it was to Nate, in order to get him out of his house. The scene with Frank would then have taken place earlier, and he was already primed to is task. I thought fingerprint evidence still required a certain number of "points" that correspond to a suspect's prints to be valid. Would the edge of a ring even show that many points? -
At least the Aretha Franklin backing track ("Think") to the negotiations with Momma Pope was worth it. It would have made my day if she had exploded in fury at David and Quinn: "What do I want? What do I want??? Some decent food, that's all. You know what I had to eat last night in this craphole? Four whole chickens, and a Coke!!! And some dry white toast. So get to work, kids." This show has been spinning out of contriol for so long. Unlike other shows that people talk about long after they're gone (Lost, Justified, etc. )my guess is that us diehards will watch to the end, say something like "Oh, well, that's it. Next show". Click. And that's about the extent of the epitaph that Scandal will get on its eventual demise. And that's a shame.

I could have sworn that was Captain Obvious.

Yes, you are correct, but I have long since given up trying to get over the many inconsistencies between the reel and the real. Still, it is kind of jarring to see them the first time. You just have to roll with it.

The only real question I have is this: Does Laura German get residuals for a taped appearance on the show?
-
Nick is such a tool. If I had been there, I would have provoked an argument with one the fighters, and said "You think I'm a plant? Well, you carry the satellite phone for a while. See if anybody calls."
