  1. While all that is certainly true, I'm willing to bet there would be at least one class clown who would bring it up in a less than scholarly tone. And then the teacher would have to spend more than a few minutes of class time reeling in the herd. More importantly, though, is that someone from the class goes home and says "We're talking about Deep Throat today" to their less than understanding parents, who go right to the principal (and the media), and the whole thing blows up (pardon the pun) in the teacher's face. It's certainly happened before. Anyway, speaking of going off the rails, I'll leave the discussion at anyone's else's doorstep and fold my box now.
  2. Which is probably why most high schools don't really bring the FBI source into a discussion of Watergate, as the teacher would have to answer the inevitable question "Why did they call him Deep Throat?" and from there the class is off the rails.
  3. Does that include the six hours of "interrogation" afterward?
  4. I did like the reaction of the lady outside the phone booth when Rufus said, "We're off to talk to Deep Throat." She definitely recognized the reference.
  5. 20+ year old blonde showing up to a high school dance with a 16 year old. Nope, that won't raise any eyebrows. Alternate ending to the tagger story: He's out the door, meets up with his friends, and tells them, "Not only did I get away with the tag, I stole this tee shirt from them. Let's do it again." Mouch and Brett would have to have been extremely foolish to use CFD computers to write their story. If, however, they used their personal laptops, the brass wouldn't have much of a case, even if done on company time and using the copier. Remember the episode where Connie used the oven and house to make her Christmas ornaments or whatever for personal profit, and no one said a thing? Unless the text specifically identified them as CFD employees or used actual names, they could push back on that one. Dennis Smith did exactly the same thing on FDNY. But anyway, the story has concluded. I can't believe Gabby didn't leap in and do the arson investigation. You're slipping, writers.
  6. It gripes me that when I go into a used record store the prices are usually three times what I paid for the original album. I could make a killing. One of the funniest damn things I've ever heard was a black comedian (I've forgotten who) made the comment that he wanted to thank Nixon because the only black man involved with the Watergate scandal was the security guard who busted the burglars in the first place. Ben Linus needs a cameo in this show, or maybe even a multi-episode arc.
  7. Maybe they should have tried Wikipedia instead. And I hope they had the sense to close off the cell before any more evidence is lost or contaminated. My bet is on the food package that was delivered to him just as they were leaving. Unlike the federal government, apparently, Michigan would have a clear and accepted method of transferring power to the next in line, so maybe he did have fifty.
  8. Remember the first season on how they train FBI agents? That should explain the gu-gu-gu gullibility of the entire agency.
  9. Owen should have capped on all the students at the review the next day (I am assuming, at some risk, that the Farm has reviews of their training), and stated that the alias he gave them was false, and they all fell for it. No one checked it out. I'm getting suspicious of the three rescuers at the end, there. The terrorist with the hammer sounded a lot like the Catholic student, and they sure got in there fast. I notice that no one is removing masks to check the identity of dead guys anymore. Speaking of the Catholic student, how did he ever pass the psych eval? He is wired so tightly he would break within an hour of regular interrogation, much less torture. Why is the President resigning? The death of his wife, or something else? That was a pretty good landing for a 10' high jump off that roof, Alex. No loud impact, no rolling to take the stress off your legs. Just a "howdy" to Lydia.
  10. While I can fully respect the speechwriter's (blanking on names, sorry) anger about having to answer for a radicalized Muslim just because he is also Muslim, it should occur to him that he is not just another man on the street. He is a high level government employee with a direct effect on foreign policy. It was also shown that he had contributed money toward the mosque, which, although later shown to be innocent (and I emphasize the word later), was initially taken to be evidence of his guilt by association. As Mark Twain said, a lie travels halfway around the world in the time it takes the truth to put on its pants. Maybe it would have been better for him to get out in front of the story (voluntarily, screw Russel) and make his points about both the contribution and his character defamation. Like it or not, silence is not always golden. Henry has a secret operations room behind a pizza parlor? Well, at least it's there within 30 minutes. They should have gone with a phone booth. So many worthwhile points made during the confrontation with the Saudi Ambassador. Does the US give up the arms sales that create so many jobs, likely in key election states? How would those employees feel, knowing they are supporting a country that contributed to the murder of 20+ US citizens? As for oil, Saudi Arabia has more customers than allies outside of the US, I think. I did like the way Bess wore heels so that she would tower over the Ambassador at the open meeting.
  11. And maybe even building another time machine, as that prototype looks and sounds like it is about to go off the rails every time.
  12. (ahem...) Not to worry, no offense taken.
  13. Rumor is that it was a group from PTV who just wanted Weller off the show...
  14. Unlike the other sports, someone has to win a baseball game. Wait for it..... There's no tying in baseball. Sorry. What's the modern day Major League record, something like 18 or 20 innings? Eventually someone makes a mistake from weariness and the game is over. Nice shoutout to Austin Powers when Mike stood up from the ice bath, facing the camera for a moment.
  15. And she will spend the entirety of every episode asking "Are you my Daddy?" No one will have the courage to tell her that he left for the spinoff.
  16. I thought that the driver might be Mountain Man, after he noticed that she had left. That would explain why she got in the truck without hesitation, but it doesn't explain how he's been hiding out in the mountains with a newer looking pickup truck. Probably the other side of the boat, as efficient as the FBI has been.
  17. I liked the episode well enough, but they're starting to develop into a Hallmark Movie cliche, with a (reasonably) happy ending every time. Was Mike's dad the Little League coach? It didn't make sense for Mike to put out the bus story if so. How early, even in an SF summer, do you have to start a game to finish 13 innings in broad daylight? Would an ML team bring on an imported catcher directly to the team? How long does it take to learn the call signs and the manager's signs? I would think some would be more or less universal, but each team does it differently to avoid sign stealing. Then again, with all the trades, I suppose everyone knows everything anyway. And how much did the team pay those sports journalists to disparage the hacker so ruthlessly?
  18. President Kirkman needs a good spanking to get him into the reality of the Presidency. He should have told the 50 buttheads (well, maybe not all 50), that "You're here to appoint Senators and a Congress. If you don't want a government, fine. Explain that to your constituents. By the way, absent a functioning government, I have no authority to spend federal money except on National Defense, effective immediately. Explain that to your constituencies also. Good day." Secondly, governors do not trump national legislation. He should know that. By the way, there's this large AFB called Homestead in Florida. House the refugees there; it's federal property. Mrs. President rightly gave him the smackdown when she said she was disappointed in the Kirkman the husband. Granted, he's still early into a job that is way over his head, but if you're going to fail, at least fail with your principles intact. It is getting into winter, though. Back to Florida.
  19. Nasi dropped a pretty big hint there in the control room when she handed Patterson the all access key. She said specifically that she thought the mole was a woman. My bet is that she's laying a trap somewhere in that datafile, waiting to see if Patterson takes the bait. Process of elimination. I also loved her smackdown of Billy Badass when she told him "That's not Sanscrit, it's Arabic. And no, you don't get to know what it means."
  20. Anyone who can listen to the Ride of the Valkyries without thinking of Bugs Bunny had an impoverished childhood. :)
  21. What I got from that scene is that Kevin had been The Manny for so long that he immersed himself in this fluff part that required no real acting ability, and he's still holding on to that philosophy, but the real world's calling now and he has to grow up. It wasn't till the previews that it occurred to me, "Hey, there wasn't any Toby this week."
  22. I did a quick search of State Department jobs, and the salaries listed (I have no idea what his job title is) run from $90,000 to $141,000. I would guess that he is in the Executive Salary Series, rather than the GS series, which would mean that he is salaried, rather than wage, and subject to "other duties as assigned".
  23. When Casey showed up at the warehouse, he was wearing a CFD uniform shirt, I think, but he was driving his personal truck. Was he there as a rep from CFD or as a construction guy? Makes a big difference on accountability for personnel movement. That had to be one tough fire extinguisher to be able to break through concrete bricks. From Gabby the Supermedic, of course. I am rather hopeful that the elder care agency submits a bill for the smart phone to CFD, which should work its way to Gabby's pocketbook. Dropped or thrown, it's still negligence on her part, and a $700 charge might just get her attention.
  24. Pay no attention to that; I couldn't delete it. Personally, I think that Rittenhouse has the hots for Lucy, and is taking the ridiculously long way around to use Flynn to try and insert himself in her life as her fiance'. Problem is, something is going wrong each time and when they come back to the present he's still out of the loop. "Dammit, that didn't work. Okay, let's try going back to October 1929. Maybe I can cash in on the Great Depression."
  25. So Alex, what happened to all those fighting skills the FBI and the CIA trained you in? You looked pretty bad there in the computer room. And using a .45 to shoot off the death collar? No powder burns there, nope. Alex must have skipped the Swahili seminar at CIA school. Seems like everyone speaks it but her. That whole drone scenario was so cringe worthy. First of all, why argue over killing someone with a drone strike when one of the criteria is "Can we kill him with special forces troops?" Boo hoo. I can just imagine all the tech guys in that room laughing their asses off after the trainees left the room. With two small children to worry about, why did Leigh want to be a field agent in the first place? And the two guys arguing about religion and homosexuality in the drone room, they should be kicked out stat, because neither would last five minutes in a foreign country under interrogation. But we have to keep them around because they provide DRAMA. Question: So who has been putting rocks on Simon's tombstone? Never mind the fact that it is a year old and looks like it just came out of the finishing room. I gather that the entire plot surrounding the takeover of the G20 conference is for the CIA to recover the hard drives with millions of surveilled emails and phone calls (those that haven't been leaked yet, anyway), and maybe there are some actual terrorists in the group, but why were the drives stored there in the first place?
