S01.E01: Fish in a Barrel / S01.E02: Roanoke
Starchild replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in The Outsider
Same DNA, different fingerprints. Did anyone else get the sense that his face was not quite human? Right? Younger son murdered, mother killed by grief-induced stress, older son killed by cops, father brain-dead suicide. Yikes. In the book, how much time elapsed for all that? To me it looked like the clothes Terry changed into at the bar, after the murder. The ones he's wearing on the bus station surveillance video. What I wasn't sure of was whether or not the clothes seemed to have some kind of residue on them. It looked like something glistening. Blood or something else? They have haylofts, to store hay during the winter that livestock will eat. -
This is, first and foremost, a kid's show, right? Sometimes you don't want to be subtle.

I hope this is his only season, so I can stop watching this show. To walk away while ME's still on it feels disloyal lol.

Ooh, I'd love for them to get Donna back as a companion with this Doctor somehow.

#5 was like my earlier question. If he could just raise his hand and kill all those guys, why not the one operating the cannon? Someone responded "because that's what happened", but it only happened because he let it. He could have stopped it. He had the power to change the outcome, from a linear time perspective. It's his decision to let it happen, my question is why. Is it a means to an end that we haven't been shown yet? Maybe. It's fair to say he's decided (after interfering in Vietnam) to be an observer rather than an actor in linear human history. Is that the attitude he developed in the GN? I haven't read it.

If he has those powers and knows what they're trying to do, why does he have to let it happen?

The incel stuff was hard to watch. Especially on the eve of the 30th anniversary of a very similar incident here in Canada. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/École_Polytechnique_massacre Incels have clearly been around a long time. It was like eavesdropping on the conversations of misogynists when they think no one can hear them.

Should be 2.09. Well I'm a little surprised that Pop just gave up like that, letting himself (and his memories) be taken. But it looks like a bullet to the brain doesn't destroy the core memories, or Ace/Gus wouldn't have shot him in the head. So I guess Pop didn't have a choice once the bomb didn't work.

Her father's ID tag said "Abar". Edited to add the following: 1. Perhaps, since he "appeared" with no memory, they figured he might as well take her name, since he couldn't remember his. 2. Leads to the question, why was her father's name "Abar"? Did her grandfather leave and her grandmother remarry a man who adopted him?

Last episode of the season another fail. So much stupid.

The depiction of the passage of time in the Reeves apartment was just beautiful.

The second working instance was when Ben called David.

Can't recall. Did they tell him his mom's life was in danger unless he disobeyed orders?

Except in the KM they all knew they were in a simulation. She didn't. I don't know, just seems unnecessarily risky. "Let's see if this one is worthy of being on the flagsh...oops never mind."

I'm only here for Michael Emerson. Sadly he's not given much to work with here. I'm really only hanging on out of loyalty. 8chan is real. Twice as bad as 4chan I guess.

Am I the only one still watching this mixed bag? I suffer through 3 bad ones to see one good one. Tonight was not one of the good ones.

Re: "Ask Not" Anyone else think it would have been easy for that "test" to kill somebody? She took a pretty rough blast in the beginning there.

Sadly yes. This happened near my neighbourhood last year. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toronto_van_attack

I think it was her father, but dressed as the main character from the book he was writing, which was clearly based in an earlier time period. With Annie's penchant for mixing up reality with her favourite books, it was a nice callback to Misery I thought. And these aren't vampires right? They're the coven that was supposedly destroyed on the land the new mall will occupy.

I never thought I could feel sympathy for Annie Wilkes.

I got a little blood in my eye there at the end. Shut up. Lynch is so f'in good. And Finn and him hugging? They really sold that reunion.

S01.E04: If You Don’t Like My Story, Write Your Own
Starchild replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in Watchmen [V]
I never read the graphic novel, so I imagine I'm missing some nuances, but I find this show delightfully fascinating. It is batshit in the best way. -
This episode was pretty good, but overall I'm just not feeling it this season. I wish they'd stay in the camp. The claustrophobia helps the atmosphere.

Also, why did the tearing down of the wall shake the tapes out onto the floor? Didn't she lock them up? If not, why bother with a vault in the first place?

It was disappointing to find out Wes was painting the trees. I was hoping it was Madison. I'm holding out further hope now that she will see Alicia's tree and recognize her own words and find the group. Yeah I want Madison back, don't @ me.
