  1. I wonder why Spock and Uhura don't mention having known him when that does happen. OK I don't really wonder, but it is one of the larger continuity holes. Unless this Sam Kirk is NOT actually Jim's brother at all. I mean he hasn't mentioned his brother Jim yet. Mega coincidence though.
  2. AI is fine as a supporting tool, but it should never be in charge. Life is nuance, and humans need to preside over final decisions that have significant consequences.
  3. You are not the only one watching, and I agree with everything you said. When Justin echoed "2030" I nearly cried. There's no alien coming to save us from ourselves.
  4. Mike said he didn't care what nonsense they were up to. I wonder if that means he'll just let the PI do his thing. And if he does, I wonder if he'd even bother to tell Kim about it.
  5. Apparently when Ziegler did his little breakout (the one that forced Mike to kill him), he ran into Lalo and talked a little about it. Enough I guess, for someone as smart as Lalo. Howard tried to address the whole thing head on, man to man, but Jimmy continued to be evasive. Poor Howard, he thinks Jimmy is the one targeting, has no idea it's Kim (arguably worse) who's got him in her sights.
  6. I don't know why people don't just leave the area. They're willing to move on for other reasons. Why not a frakkin' nuclear explosion? Seems like the best reason of all, really.
  7. Ha, yes personality is what I meant. It wasn't until I reread it that I can see it could be taken a different way, my bad
  8. Actually, I think Wesley said that agents like Talinn and Gary Seven work for the Travelers. Neat little canon addition there. Of course, the Travelers must know about Q by now, since Wes does. And presumably omniscient Q has always known about the Travelers. I guess they've mostly stayed out of each others' way?
  9. Remember, Pike's fondness for horses was seen in "The Cage." As for ruminating on his future "death", he did say to Spock that (paraphrase) "I saw my own death, or at least the death of the man I am now." So I think he realizes he doesn't actually die, and was speaking metaphorically. Let's face it, life in that chair is a living death for anyone who was once so active and commanding, and is now reduced to a life of immobility and communicating in 0s and 1s. When this show was announced they did explicitly state they were intending mostly standalone stories. Hopefully they are able to resist the call of the season arc. I like that kind of story telling too, but I am really enjoying the classic feel of this so far. As for Mount's hair, it doesn't bother me, but even if it did, the return of "classic Trek sideburn" would be enough to mitigate it lol.
  10. My TV guide describes Bill as "acerbic". Oxford defines that as "sharp and forthright." There is also an older use of the word, though, that means "sour or bitter." I think that fits better.
  11. OK then I guess it makes more sense that some more of Kirk's crew besides Spock is on board.
  12. Observations: Maybe I'm misremembering but I thought in "Amok Time" that Spock said he hadn't seen T'Pring since they were children. Anson Mount is great here. People complain that he's kind of a wooden actor, and that may be true, but it works in a show like this, that harkens back to a simpler Trek. There's no way that La'an isn't related to Khan, right? That is too unique a surname to be using as a coincidence. The messaging was a bit heavy-handed, but not misplaced in today's society. This version of Chapel seems a bit bouncier than I remember. Uhura, Chapel and M'Benga, but not Boyce. Do we know if the events of "The Cage" have already happened yet? The actress playing Uhura really captures Nichelle Nichols' essence, I approve. So James was not the first Kirk on the Enterprise? Interesting that he never mentioned that when he later tells his crew about his brother. Final point: I am LOVING the visual design! The bridge looks great. A nice blend of futurism and nostalgia. All the little callbacks to the original. Despite being tied very closely in time to TOS, they're making it their own. Like the uniforms. I'm fairly certain I saw that the gold uniforms have gold braid on the sleeve, but unlike TOS the blue uniforms have silver braid, and the red uniforms have shiny red braid. Nice. I'm excited guys, this show is off to a great start, AFAIC.
  13. During the combined shield sequence, a lot of the imagery went by pretty quick. It looked to me like there were people on a planet watching it happen? Maybe on the other side of the conduit? Did I see that?
  14. I'm thinking that too, and if so she's well on the road to earning it. In fact her not being able to come with him to Omaha might be contributing to Gene's angst. Especially if he never had the chance to say goodbye and believes that she think he's abandoned her.
  15. Well, it seems to be gearing up around climate change, if that's something you prefer to avoid... By the way, that agent is a real asshole. Was he fucking with the waitress because she was non-white? His boss also seemed like raging racist bee-yotch. Which I will overlook as long as possible, since I love Kate Mulgrew. I like Jimmi Simpson too, for that matter. But still...assholes.
  16. Me too, until I saw the circuitboard.
  17. Or 3: Alicia successfully takes the tower, when they are suddenly attacked by a new group, led by whatever-her-name-is-now. Yeah where the hell did that come from? Wes is disappointed in humanity so he turns to Strand to heal his soul? WTF?
  18. Hopefully them saying they're looking how they can continue with Carol means she does NOT get killed off at the end of the main show. I'm ambivalent about the Maggie/Negan show (big city-based might be interesting) but if they added Carol I'd watch for sure. Or if they did a time jump on Fear and fit her in there, I'd like that too. Can you imagine a community headed by ruthless ladies Carol and Madison? Mess with them at your peril. Not interested in Daryl without Carol, I loved that relationship.
  19. I was mesmerized from the start. This is going to be a ride.
  20. That was...what was that? Whoever wrote this episode doesn't seem to know this show and these characters at all. Everyone's characterization seemed a little bit off, like we were watching versions of them from an alternate universe. They were all acting so weird that I thought for sure everyone was playing this kid, acting out some plan. When June came out of the infirmary saying Charlie was dying I was thinking how obvious it was that she was lying. But then our heroes are talking amongst themselves and not giving it away, so I thought they must think they're being spied on. But no, it seems to actually be all true. Charlie is a regular and she received her fatal dose of radiation offscreen? What? I'm still finding it hard to believe this all is for real, but if it is, at least Charlie is dying, so something good is coming out of this mess. Although I would have preferred to see Madison shoot her in the head, but oh well.
  21. I'm pretty sure that as soon as Mike saw a gun in Nacho's hand, he wanted Nacho to take himself out on his own terms. They both knew Nacho wasn't getting out alive, and this was the "best" death nacho could have hoped for. Mike was hoping Nacho would have the courage to do it and wouldn't falter. I'm starting to think that it's Kim that gives Jimmy that final push into full-fledged villainy. Once more betrayed by the person he loves most in the world. How tragic is that? While she sat smoking on that couch, staring with those soulless eyes, I literally thought "OMG Kim is a sociopath." This was about protecting his father after his death. Injury or death to anyone else at that meeting would jeopardize that. They'll have to get through Mike first. I do wonder if Mike will make an anonymous call to Mr. Varga to inform him his son has gone into witness protection and can never contact him again. That would be a small mercy.
  22. Acquiring the same customers doesn't worry me. They could have seen the new listing and made a last minute change. What IS hard to believe is how fast it happened. Jay said they were coming in a few days. Somehow, virtually (perhaps even literally) overnight, the Farnsby's had a new business license, passed all the required inspections, and had advertising up and running to get customers. Now how did that happen so fast?
  23. But how would she cross universes? Queen Agnes is in the alternate Confederation universe, but the Veiled Queen is in our original prime universe. Does Q bring them all back home, including the Borg?
