  1. Vanilla Ice has more street cred than Chet Hanks. Hell, Milli Vanilli has more street cred than Chet Hanks.
  2. If the premiere of the latest Disney + Marvel series What If....? is any indication, then it's gonna be one "Hell, Yeah!" moment after another, especially because of the main character in this episode: Captain Carter, as in Peggy Carter. Basically, the plot of this episode seemed like a gender-swapped version of Captain America: the First Avenger, but it was done in a fresh, new way, because of the animation, the writing and most of the original actors doing the voices. What makes this episode work so well was seeing Peggy being her own woman, before and after she took the super serum, with and without Steve Rogers. What makes Peggy and Steve's relationship work in this episode is that they accept each other for who they are, not how they look. Peggy's kicking Nazi asses whether or not she's riding shotgun on Iron Steve doesn't hurt. As for a live-action version of Captain Carter, my vote: "Hell, yeah!"
  3. Even though I haven't commented on all the Team USA gymnasts, I'm proud of them, especially of Simone. Even though she's still struggling, Simone proves that, to paraphrase the old saying, "It's not how you fall down, it's how-and that-you get up that matters."
  4. Neither would most toilets, I'm guessing. I'd watch Eddie Jackson boil water.
  5. My verdict: Team Simone, all the way. After all she's been through physically, mentally and emotionally, Simone doesn't have to prove anything to anyone anymore. She's won Gold medals. She's set World records. She's broken World records. She has done things for gymnastics that no one has ever done before and probably never will again. On top of that, Simone is one of Larry Nassar's survivors. That Simone not only managed to persevere, but become one of the greatest athletes of all time is a tribute to her courage and her character. So is withdrawing from the Olympics. Simone knows her limits, understands them and is dealing with them in her own way, just like Naomi Osaka. Competing in the Olympics is tough in general, but it's even tougher for Black people, especially Black women, who have to deal with racism and sexism. For their critics, even perfection isn't good enough. Kudos to Simone and Naomi for doing what's right for them for the right reasons-and shame on those who try to shame them for it. Especially offensive is Piers Morgan, who had the nerve to lecture Simone and Naomi about quitting when he quit his own show in a huff after the mildest criticism of his obsessive hatred of Meghan Markle, like the loudmouth, thin-skinned and phone-hacking hypocrite he is. As far as I'm concerned, the only thing that Simone and Naomi owe anyone are the best versions of themselves and if they have to quit to do it, then so be it. Those who don't like it, bless their hearts-preferably with dirty, greasy and rusty chainsaws.
  6. A couple of days ago, Wendy threw more shade at Sha'carri Richardson, this time because she was offered $250K to endorse a vaping company. While Wendy had a point that an athlete selling smoking to kids isn't a good look, I didn't appreciate her telling Sha'carri to just shut up and run. Last time I checked, it wasn't Ms. Richardson who mocked a young man's death. After what happened last week, as far as I'm concerned, Wendy has no business telling anyone who's not on the payroll what to say and how to say it. Wendy should take her own advice and just STFU.
  7. Not me. IMO, one rare moment of humanity doesn't make up for all the arrogance, cruelty and stupidity the rest of the time, as the Swavy debacle alone proves. Wendy doesn't deserve kudos for doing the bare minimum when others are doing way more and way better than her, with and without a platform. A broken clock may be right twice a day, but it's still broken.
  8. Another day, another way for Wendy to show her ass. I didn't know who Swavy was either, but I wouldn't use his murder as an excuse to talk about myself and my social media status. Heaven forbid that it was Wendy's son who just died. Then again, this is the same Wendy who, IIRC, did a show the day her own Mama died. Looks like Tabatha Brown's dragging has taught Wendy nothing. Wendy should've just given her condolences and kept on moving, but Wendy being Wendy, she just has to say the wrong thing at the wrong time, like the tacky moron she is.
  9. I respectfully disagree. Those parts may have been played by different actors under different directors, but they were still playing the same roles under the same names. Six of one, half dozen of the other. They weren't like a Heath Ledger/ Joaquin Phoenix deal, with two different actors playing different Jokers. As for Chadwick Boseman, I would sympathize with any actor who would even try to step into his shoes to play T'Challa if that role is recast just like I did for Brandon Routh, who was the first big-screen Superman after Christopher Reeve died. As far as I'm concerned, if a different actor is playing the same superhero roles under the same names, it's a recast.
  10. Here's the thread for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which has just started shooting and will be released next year. However, it will be the first Black Panther film without the late, great Chadwick Boseman as King T'Challa. Re the "Recast T'Challa" debate, I can see both sides. While Boseman's T'Challa is truly one of a kind and is a hard act to follow, other superheroes have been recast before, such as Batman, Spider-Man, Aquaman, Wonder Woman and the Hulk, to name a few. Nick Fury was recast. Hell, Superman was recast several times after Christopher Reeve died. I'm still gonna see the sequel, recast or not, because I want to honor Chadwick's memory and his legacy. Post about all things BP:WF-related here, whether you're a Wakandan warrior, a colonizer, or anything in between.
  11. Not to mention that the new Blade's being played by a two-time Oscar winner who, like Dorff, has Marvel ties of his own (as Cottonmouth in Luke Cage). However, Mahershala Ali's not the one who's so desperate for relevancy that he's throwing shade at a fellow member of the MCU just to get attention. Speaking of Dorff, he needs to have several seats. I'm not the biggest ScarJo fan in the world by any means, but it seems to me that anyone who's both making Marvel money and got two Oscar noms in the same year doesn't need condescending career advice, especially from a has-been. Besides True Detective, to me, Dorff is only famous for three other things: Cecil B. Demented, being the male lead in Britney Spears "Everytime" video and most famously, playing Deacon Frost in Blade. At the risk of aging myself, I remember reading a magazine interview with Dorff back in 1997 and he was just as pretentious and obnoxious then as he is now. Instead of telling people who don't need his help what to do about their careers, Dorff would do well to take care of his own, if he still has one, that is.
  12. Bumping it up to add the final scene from The Goonies, which is "Hell, Yeah!" worthy on several levels (especially the one involving a certain bag of marbles), plus it's a tribute to the director, the late, great Richard Donner, whose version of Superman not only made the world believe that a man could fly, the end of The Goonies proves that sometimes, ghost pirate ships can sail again. RIP, Mr. Donner.
  13. Melania was on the cover of Vogue back in 2005 in a wedding dress, so she should have known about its refusal to give their cover models editorial control, which is yet another example of Meghan's not knowing WTF she's talking about, not that she ever let that stop her. So Meghan's leaving. Whatever. Good riddance, bitch.
  14. This is deep-fried fuckery at its worst. Contrary to Phylicia Rashad's bullshit opinion, Cosby's conviction being overturned on a technicality isn't redemption, it isn't vindication and it sure as Hell isn't exoneration. The world not only knows what a scumbag Cosby is, HE! ADMITTED! IT! Cosby was credibly accused not once, not twice, but FIFTY-EIGHT TIMES! They aren't "confused," they aren't "crazy" and IMO, they ain't lying. As for the clout-chaser/golddigger theories, there are much easier ways to get money and/or fame than accusing someone of Cosby's former stature of rape. As for Phylicia Rashad, to paraphrase my very first GIF post, she needs to shut her ass up. To say that her loyalty to Cosby is misguided at best is an understatement. That goes double for Camille Cosby. Their attitudes are not only slaps in the face to Cosby's victims, since Rashad's about to become a Dean at Howard University, it sends a message to the students that if Heaven forbid they're ever sexually assaulted, that they shouldn't even try to do anything about it because chances are she probably wouldn't believe them anyway. Besides being exposed (no pun intended) for the pervert he is, another bright side to Cosby's conviction being overturned is that his days are numbered and that, like O.J. Simpson, for all intents and purposes, his life is over in the Court Of Public Opinion, if not in a court of law. As far as I'm concerned, Cosby will pay for all of his crimes, if not in this life, then definitely in the next. ETA: @Chaos Theory: The picture is of Taraji P. Henson, not Tariq Nasheed.
  15. Poor Britney. I knew that things were bad for her, but not this bad. Shame on Britney's so-called "family," who saw only what they wanted to see ( dollar signs) and made Britney do what they wanted her to do, physical and mental health be damned. As one of the people who mocked Britney back in the day, I just want to publicly apologize for any part I played in her misery. I know she won't see it; I just needed to say it. As someone who's got relatives who struggle with mental health issues, I know that while sometimes it's tough, for the most part, they're living independent and productive lives. Hearing Britney describe in her own words the Hell that she's been/still is going through is shocking, to say the least. Britney may have some mental problems, but for her own parents to use them as an excuse to control every aspect of her life for the rest of her life is reprehensible and unacceptable, if not downright criminal. For Britney's folks to say that she's capable of performing one moment but incapable of everything else the next is hypocritical. News flash, Mommy and Daddy: you work for Britney, not vice versa. If what Britney's saying is true-and, IMO, it is-then she needs/deserves people in her life whom she can trust and vice versa and you're neither anymore-if you ever were, that is. If you love Britney as much as you probably think you do, then it's way past time that you stopped living off her blood, like the vampires you are. About Justin Timberlake's apology to Britney, if it's good enough for her, then it's good enough for me. While I'm not the biggest JT fan in the world, at least he's not a useless scrub who's been mooching off Britney for the last 15 years, unlike KFed. Better late than never, as far as I'm concerned.
  16. lHere's the thread for The Harder They Fall, Netflix's western starring (among others) Idris Elba, Regina King, Delroy Lindo, Jonathan Majors, Lakeith Stansfield and Zazie Beetz and is co-Executive Produced by Shawn Carter, aka Jay-Z. Here's the trailer: The Harder They Fall
  17. As far as I'm concerned, Meghan's about as qualified to call VP Harris a "moron" as Caitlyn Jenner is to be Governor of California. 🤪 🙃 🤫 🤐
  18. I just saw/loved the movie version of In the Heights, Lin-Manuel Miranda's first Tony-winning musical pre-Hamilton and co-star Corey Hawkins is adorable, Jimmy Smits is in "Cat Daddy" mode (as in an older man who can still get it) and star Anthony Ramos manages to not only be hot, adorable and extremely talented at the same time, he's even got a Calvin Klein underwear ad that's a billboard in Times Square. BTW, L-MM's got a cameo and he's nothing to sneeze at, either.

    Mewling Quotes

This is the thread that's burdened with the glorious purpose of celebrating Loki quotes, such as the one where Loki has to sign the paperwork confirming everything he's ever said: Drone (to Loki): "Please sign here. It's a document of everything you've ever said." Loki: "What?" [Piece of paper comes down, with the word"What?"] Post your picks for the best Loki quotes here.
  20. Respect hits theaters in August.
