I love that dress! Tasteful, modest, and yet very modern. Wonder how Bitchelle allowed it...You think Jill or Jim Boob put their foot down to a frou frou Fundie Modest dress? And not kissing beforehand so "you have no regrets"? Oh honey...were you watching your brother at the altar? Or Priscilla's wedding? If my sex life had to be based off a first kiss....yeesh, Anna should have gotten an annulment that day! They both look genuinely happy...good for them. He's not super Fundie, so I think that's why we're all happy for them. I think we're hoping Derrick brings her into the 21st century. The bridal package, hmmm....I'm gonna say a copy of the Quality Traits the Gothard camp loves so much, a big reminder that sex is for procreation, an ovulation kit, a pregnancy test, and a calendar. For the baby poll, I say July 2015. Since Jill knows so much, having been a midwife (WTF was that comment about??), I think she might figure out when to avoid certain days for a while. Can you imagine the sheer bliss of quiet for her? Living with 17 siblings the day before, then her own place, even her own hotel room? No meals to get anyone else, sleeping in, no snot nosed younger siblings to look out for, no watching her parents make out, or watching her mother's chart for possible "blessings"? That has to be wonderful

Okay, when someone mentioned guns on the registry I got a little alarmed. I am a complete 2nd Amendment supporter, but purchasing guns for someone else is called a straw man purchase and is illegal! It's a damn felony! Now, if people were to give gift cards specifially for a purchase of a gun so the actual owner wants to buy it, fine and dandy. But otherwise...auugh!!

19 Things I Hate About You: How the Duggars Infuriate
Ivy26 replied to Ljohnson1987's topic in Counting On
Oh! That just reminded me....while on vacation, Michelle had her knees blacked out "for the sake of modesty". Lady, if you were so concerned about modesty, you wouldn't be straddling that jet ski or even wearing an outfit where the possibility of a knee showing might happen. The American public might not have been defrauded, but the people on the water, the beach, and the camera crew definitely were. Gosh..I wonder how many marriages ended due to that.... -
19 Things I Hate About You: How the Duggars Infuriate
Ivy26 replied to Ljohnson1987's topic in Counting On
My ring is smaller than half a carat, but it was his mother's engagement ring, so the emotional ties to the ring, and that my husband's parents and sister wanted me to have it carry a lot more weight than a hefty diamond. What drives me up the wall about the Duggars? Their concept of modesty. Jim Boob and Michelle squawk constantly about it. Newsflash Duggars: 1)Constantly talking about "trying for another" and "we would welcome another blessing" makes all of us realize you screw. A lot. And putting that image in our heads is NOT modest. And all the alcohol I consume to get said image outta my head is rough on the liver. 2) Your cycle calendar in the kitchen. It makes us think and know you're menstruating. NOT MODEST!!! Plus telling your daughters "Jana, mark the calendar, Aunt Flo is in town so no new blessing this month." Auuugh!! 3) The Nike BS. Someone tells me don't look, human nature tends to be a tad rebellious. Now I wanna look! And any healthy boy would hear the word "Nike!" would wanna peek just a little. Maybe to realize "Seriously? A bare shoulder? I'm not tempted, but thanks!". 4) The married couple PDAs. (It was once thought I was homophobic because I grimaced once about two women kissing in public. My response was "Don't care with whom, but sucking face in public just grosses me out. Straight, gay, young, old...) The "first kiss" for Josh/Anna, TFDW/ Priscilla...not modest. They were attempting to eat each other's faces. And Michelle and Jim Boob are the worst. Playing tonsil hockey in front of your children is just gross. And...not modest! These people play fast and loose with the concept, and look down on others for not sharing their exact ideals about it. Asshats....- 3.3k replies

Hey, attraction is all in one's perception, okay?! :-p

Have you noticed we don't hear about John David much anymore? Is it because he doesn't like to be on camera, or do you think he's quietly exiting out, then only showing up for the necessary photo ops? He's not a bad looking guy, and if that towing business is really his, at 24 he's a good catch, Fundie or not

My husband is Pentecostal (and me Pagan. We don't discuss religion). They beleive KJV is the ONLY Bible to be read, all others don't have the right "interpretation". It always makes me giggle, given King James, the man who commissioned this great Bible and many believe the one and only word of God, was gay.

Josh & Anna Smuggar: A Series of Unfortunate Events
Ivy26 replied to maraleia's topic in Counting On
Based off that photo, she's either pregnant or sporting Kevlar under that sweater. Dude, that's how *I* look in my bulletproof vest. Okay, if she's knocked up, here's my hope: That they are waiting until after Jill's wedding to announce. You know, to give Jill and Derrick their special moment. Oh wait, these are the Duggars....it'll be announced during the church service or the reception -
Link please? :-)

Ugh, you know if the wedding is at the same church as Jubilee's funeral, Michelle will definitely bring that up...
-
Enfagrow? Correct me if I'm wrong, but my preemies were on Enfagrow. It's a higher calorie formula. None of Anna's kids were preemies
-
What also gets to me is Michelle having "old friends" over to the house. Friends she went to high school with, and chatters merrily about the things she did in the past. That feels like a slap in the face to her daughters, because they never got to experience all the fun stuff like that. All they have is each other and their younger siblings

I was married at 18. Lasted 13 years. Another story for another day :-p However, it's their maturity that matters. If Ben could be 19, working construction (decent money where I live), and putting a lot into savings...fantastic. If Jessa was planning saving methods, great. These are literally two immature children who need to satiate their hormones. I actually admire Jim Bob and Michelle before most of the kids came down the pike. She worked WITH him, helped create and tend the businesses. If Jessa even proposes getting a job, it'll be shot down on multiple fronts. Her role is with child, in the kitchen, sans footwear

Isn't Jill Josie's "Mom"? So maybe her hanging on him is 1) a way of getting attention and 2) maybe she thinks she's going with them when Jill marries? That Derrick is her new daddy? Lol

Past Seasons Talk: 7 Seasons and Counting
Ivy26 replied to auntie thesis's topic in 19 Kids And Counting [V]
If Mary is smart, she's left everything to Jim Bob's sister. -
Honestly, they need to knock this down to yearly updates. People would tune in to see where the kids are, careerwise and marriage wise. But I could give a rat's ass about trips to markets, packing the stanky bus for trips to the Bateses. I think Dr. Sarver bowed out before Josie. And a doctor can refuse to see a patient if the patient liability becomes too great (but will refer and recommend another doctor). It's a double edged sword: Let's say the next (oh god no) pregnancy is successful. Remember how much crap the doctor of Octo Mom got? This doctor will be critized for saying it was okay to proceed. Let's say something goes horribly wrong. This doctor will be vilified in the media, possibly face Board sanctions, and possibly a lawsuit. Because it won't be the Duggars fault, heavens no! I have four children. The last pregnancy was my twins, and it was a high risk stressful thing. I had my tube tied (yup, singular. Ectopic in the past), and while I sometimes miss the feeling of pregnancy, I am grateful I have four overall healthy children. Michelle has NINETEEN. You are in the grandma phase, enjoy the "blessings" God has already given you. Let. It. GO!
-
Which really REALLY pisses me off. I had twins, one of which has Russell Silver Syndrome. We were told constantly we would lose her. We had the amnio, and it was clear for the biggies. But we have her enrolled with our state Early Intervention, she's on Long Term Care (has a G-tube, special formula), PT once a week, multiple docs... Josie needs these services. There is nothing WRONG with these services. It doesn't say you failed as a parent to participate in these services. It's not questioning God to have these services. I personally think they are failing Josie by NOT having her in these services. Also, if you want to leave it up to God, don't see fertility doctors. Don't have your menstrual chart on the fridge. That is hypocrisy to the nth degree.

Yeah, I'm not the healthiest of eaters, but their dependence on canned soup, aversion to vegetables, and over processed sugar and crap makes me gag. My ex feeds my kids processed crap, and they look at fresh veggies funny. I'd love for this whole family to get cholesterol and metabolic blood tests done. Bet all of their sodium levels are through the roof

Has this been addressed? How Fundie is Derrick? He seems less than Ben and Jim Boob, but are we talking Gothard? Vision Forum? Benny Hinn? What?
-
Well obviously we're supposed to be in awe that she carried that many children to term. "Behold! My Wonder Uterus!"
-
Didn't J'Chelle's mother die a while back? I know she has siblings much older than her, but I thought her parents were dead
-
Yeah, the Lutheran group I grew up with had us with the parents until right after the Gospel reading, the pastor did a children's sermon, then we were either dismissed to Sunday School or we could sit back with our parents. Our sermon and the lesson was a watered down adult version. These people drive me nuts. They expect their kids with them at all times, but then expect them to have enough socialization skills to land a spouse. Du fuq?
-
Might be?! Heavens woman, you might have been seduced/made to try drugs/robbed/killed/independent thought all because you went to church without a male present. What were you thinking?! (total sarcasm here)
-
Yeah, I never understood that either. Gothard made a killing with ALERT Academies and Journey to the Heart stuff. Why not just open a few mega churches? And why would separating by age be such a bad thing? Hell, it would be the easiest way to get the kids married off
