  1. Hell, I'd pay to see Smuggar go up against even moderate Conservatives or Libertarians with half a brain. They would talk circles around him. Kind of burns me that while I really dislike the FRC, there are dozens of college educated people who could benefit the company (again I don't like them, roll with me on this) in more creative and intelligent ways than some backwoods (barely) homeschooled hick who's only claim to fame is he was #1 out of Mommy's slip n' slide vag. People with way more political savvy and PR skills than someone who thinks Instagramming meals is "neat fun".
  2. I agree. Plus according to FreeJinger, doesn't Anna have a brother that married a non Fundie girl and they really aren't discussed? Or is it the other way around? I'm at work, dont have the time to investigate :-p
  3. Someone above mentioned the Amish. I prefer the Amish way of living to the Duggars. The Amish get the period of Rumspringa. See the world outside and then make a conscious choice. The Duggar kids don't get that al all. They are sheltered from the big bad world and told they are the only ones that are right. BS And for all of their blathering on about the kids "choose this way".... I call 100% absolute bullshit. There is enough peer pressure to get them to do things the "right way". Look at Michelle's face when Jill gave a scandalous full frontal hug. Choice my ass. Or the Bates pretty much convincing the one young bride about wearing skirts. Yeah, she "prayed" about it? Nope, not buying it. To make a choice is one thing. Anna was brainwashed into this lifestyle, as was Josh. But they are adults and can make the choice. Even now we see small sparks of outside the Gothard life in them. It's one thing to choose, it's another to force it upon them. Give me the Amish anyday
  4. Yeah, it makes sense. Still....TMZ could get away with it :-p
  5. Exactly! I'm still in the dark on why laundry is women's work. Back when it was being wrung out and everything starched and ironed? Meh, it was housework. But nowadays it's put in/press button/put in/press button/fold. It's not rocket science. Which definitely means not too hard for the Duggars :-)
  6. What gets me about the Duggars? The media blackout. (Not getting into politics here, just stating instances) Michelle Bachmann was asked if she was President if she could still be submissive to her husband. Ann Romney was asked about her beliefs on the view (Whoopi assumed both Mormons and Quakers were pacifists). It was thrown around if Hillary Clinton could run for President and be a grandmother. Kirk Cameron is gently mocked in the media and seen as a kook. Inane stuff to be sure, but it still goes to the heart of belief systems. Why not the same for the Duggars? They could be asking these people loads of questions about equality, courtship, why no college graduates, kids in their 20s waiting for a mate picked out by Daddy, the Gothard relationship. What do we get instead? "Gosh, what do your grocery bills look like? Packing for 20 people?! Goodness gracious!" Even Anderson Cooper softballed the interview. Come on, WTF! I heard a rumor years ago about an Oprah interview that was never shown (I'm open to correction here, guys.) where Oprah offered all of the kids, especially the girls, college scholarships and was turned down. We know gory details about Kim Kardashian's kid but where is Dirt for Duggars? What hold do they have on the media? Surely TLC isn't that big of a corporation, is it?
  7. I'm pretty sure Grandma has her own room. IIRC, it's actually off of the laundry room. Which irks me too Yeah, why can't Grandma bow out? I realize they are stuck in their ideology of boy/girl "jurisdictions" but damn it how 'bout the BOYS do their own laundry? How many ten and up boys do we have? They could do it. Hell, I'm teaching my 11 year old how to handle her own laundry. She needs help though; kinda short, deep drum :-)
  8. I know I would. I would offer to take my mother out frequently in that situation. And have no problem telling Bitchelle to do her own damn laundry. I worry about Grandma. Part of me wonders if she sticks around to be the balance to the Fundie wackiness. I'd like to think she keeps them grounded. I can see Boob & Bitchelle going Maxwell veeeery quickly
  9. Damn good points, Marigny. Although I'm sure Derrick was thoroughly grilled by Boob and Bitchelle about all of that beforehand. Not with Jill around of course. Guessing that was part of the vetting process to even meet Jill. Can you imagine being asked these type of quesions by someone's parents you aren't even dating yet? Makes me wonder how many of the other "suitors" were either scared off or didn't answer the questionnaire right
  10. Ah, but that might make her "normal". None of that for our Bitchelle
  11. Word up and spot on. Is it just cognitive dissonance on their part to think exposing this type of stuff to their kids is perfectly fine and a collar bone being exposed is sinful? I honestly have a hard time wrapping my head around this. For the women in my family, it was considered immodest for anyone else, besides your mother, to know when you menstruated/ovulated. And I sure as hell didn't know when my mother did. This stuff makes the wheel in my head spin, but the rat is on a break...
  12. Purely speculation here, but let's say things are done "in the dark". Nothing wrong with Derrick slippin' one on and Jill would know no different. And that's all I'll say, because while I know what this thread is for, still makes me feel squicky. We joke about Boob/Bitchelle sex, but poor Jill knows no different, for what sexuality could be all about and has such a limited world view. I feel bad for her, really
  13. Ugh, the media interest in this is silly. Yeah, we thought it was cute when Josh and Anna produced the first Grand Duggar spawn, but then we were "treated" to the births of #2 and #3 as well.....I know it'll be the first girl Duggar offshoot, but are we gonna get VSE's for JoyAnna's third kid? I'm hoping that while Jill might believe birth control is "evil", maybe a little NFP might not be such a bad idea. Hell, if Derrick is smart, he'll watch the calendar as well and suddenly develop a headache in the middle of the month
  14. Good Gawd, that would suck. It's a distinct possibility they could control themselves, but I remember when I got married at 18, this was a nightly occurance. These people (Gothardites/ super religious) consider premarital sex incredibly sinful, but the minute the ring is on your finger you can boink like bunnies. I suspect that Jill has some pent up frustration and energy. ;-)
  15. Two trains of thought on Jenny staying at Jill's: 1) Honestly, I wouldn't want her in the house two weeks afterwards because as most of us know in marriage and relationships, the first few...intimate weeks, shall we say...you're going at it like bunnies. Non stop sexy time. Think Derrick is okay with his 7 yr old SIL potentially hearing that? Plus, as sex/ purity obsessed as the Duggars are, wouldn't Bitchelle and Boob be afraid of it possibly "defrauding" Jenny? Unless... 2) Bitchelle suggested it and did it on purpose. Jill can't conceive if she's afraid of Jenny overhearing, right? Thus Michelle doesn't have to worry about when Jill becomes a breeding machine. Pure speculation, of course.
  16. I agree to a point. There is an interesting article on Cracked.com (I'm at work, and the stupid Websense block won't let me link it) talking about the habits you develop growing up poor. Before the cameras showed up, neither the Duggar or Keller clans were well off by any stretch of the imagination. One of the habits was buying cheap, canned food that would last a long time due to not wanting food to spoil. Anna learned from her mother how to buy food, and I doubt His Smugness helps. I sincerely doubt Journey to the Heart or ALERT Academy features a nutrition class. Food habits are learned. You don't just move out on your own, newly married, and cast off the cream of glop soups and embrace Whole Foods.
  17. It's kind of heartbreaking that Jenny spent the night with her. Poor little girl is losing the only mother she really had, and the transition back to Bitchelle can't be easy
  18. Yeah, I don't know. We're making the assumption she actually had regular A&P like you did. They probably have a Fundie A&P book that labels the clitoris as the Devil's Pleasure Button and the short chapter "You're a Woman, You Don't Need to Worry About Male Anatomy". And that UTI's are God's punishment for too much recreative sex. Obviously I'm making broad assumptions for humor's sake, but I doubt she knows too much
  19. From what I understand of this culture, the guy asks the girl to court because he's almost 100% positive this is the girl he will marry. That "God laid it on his heart" that this is the girl for him. So in effect he's already committed to this, and the courtship, for him, is really a formality. I can totally seeing Gothardites being okay with arranged marriages. "I want that one!" "Well, let's set up the 'courtship', make her think she has a choice, wink wink!"
  20. THIS! She accepted the courtship, and is the only one who can end it. Sending his young horny butt to college (and a secular one at that!) will change the Fundie view point, and then she can get out of all of this with her smugness intact
  21. I've been trying to follow the timing of everything. Do you think maybe Jill and Derrick were a couple way before Ben and Jessa? The courtship of Jill was way fast and Jessa's has seemed to have lingered for a while (in their world, obviously not ours). So it makes me wonder if Jessa's courtship was kind of thrown together for the viewers. They just seem so incompatible, and she is snarky as hell
  22. She also probably can't ditch maternity wear because she's ever hopeful for another blessing. I have four kids, the only reason #3 and #4 got any fanfare was because they were twins. Make the announcement on your website, don't bring in NBC for it. I can't stand defending Anna, but whoever asked her at the wedding if she was pregnant was beyond tacky. The only good way to ask a woman if she's pregnant is if she's crowning, IMO Also, I tend to lean Libertarian and conservative for some things, but if I was a smart politician, I would see Josh Duggar, or hell any Duggar, heading towards my campaign and put out a restraining order. These people have the opposite effect on a political campaign. Which is not necessarily bad, but from the politician's standpoint, definitely :-p
  23. We're not going to know what Gothard rules she rejects until literally, the honeymoon is over. She's tasting freedom right now, but the second she goes back to Duggarland, with her parents watching over them, will be a real test of her new independence. I would love to see on camera Bitchelle commenting on Jill wearing pants, and Jill looking her mother right in the eye and saying "Derrick bought them for me" and dropping the subject.
  24. My son wasn't potty trained until almost five, but he's also autistic. Again, they are ignoring Josie's problems and claiming she is a perfectly normal blessing. All of my kids were blessings too, but I knew when the hell to get Early Intervention involved
  25. I wonder....do you think Jill really likes the limelight? I can see her and Derrick having kids but staying away from the Duggar famewhores as much as possible. I sincerely doubt Walmart will want one of their accountants in the news that much
