  1. I was born the year the show premiered and have never seen it. I did learn that the entire series got a DVD release, and I put a hold on it from my local library system (can't wait to see it!). Interesting fact - Robert Hays was still on Angie when he was filming Airplane. I believe he was filming the movie on the show's hiatus - and it went over, so he had to juggle the film with the beginning of the second season of Angie. If you've never seen it before - the cast was part of a TV All-Stars version of Family Feud in late 1979. Enjoy!!
  2. I can't answer any of your questions, but I will tell you that I wore layers to church for Easter Sunday instead of a dress. Nowhere close to 440 degrees that day - at least in the Cleveland area. 😉
  3. Last month I went to an Indians game, and between innings the weekly weather forecast was beamed up on the scoreboard. It looked fine except for one teeny, tiny flaw...
  4. By the way, I love the name of this thread. It sounds like the title of a mystery novel. 😊
  5. Also - Donna Pescow may be Annette in Saturday Night Fever, Angie of the 1979-80 sitcom of the same name, and Even Stevens' mom - but I saw her first as Donna Garland, the mom who married an alien and had a daughter who could freeze time (a couple of years before Zack Morris did) in the 1987-90 syndicated sitcom Out of This World. Interestingly enough, she would join the cast of General Hospital years later and be reunited with Steve Burton, who played her daughter's boyfriend on OOTW.
  6. Plus, who wouldn't want to have sidekicks like Max and Freeway the dog?
  7. That's David Krumholtz. His longest-running TV gig was on Numb3rs (2005-2010, CBS), and you probably also remember him as Bernard the Elf from the first two Santa Clause movies.
  8. Yes, triangles or "will they/won't they" scenarios often have more drawbacks than not. That's why I mostly prefer the couples who were together from Day One - Samantha and Darrin Stephens, Jonathan and Jennifer Hart, Bob and Emily Hartley, to name a few. Sure, there were outsiders who tried to get between some of those couples that led to misunderstandings - but when all was said and done, they were solid (as a rock, to quote Ashford & Simpson). These couples were married, devoted to each other and there was never any question that they loved each other. That said, we could sit back and enjoy whatever adventures came their way that particular episode.
  9. True story - when that originally aired, I was watching in the bedroom and my mom was watching in the living room. The "WHAT???" that erupted from the different rooms at the same time - priceless!!!
  10. That, and "these guys are so stupid, they couldn't organize a trip to the bathroom". His sarcasm is hilarious. I love to quote Statler and Waldorf from The Muppets. Who doesn't love those two geriatric jokers? Balki from Perfect Strangers was always good for fun quotes. "Well, paint me green and call me Gumby!!" Any quote from the late, great Det. Lennie Briscoe. "You ever hear of the seven rings of Saturn? These are the two rings of Rikers!!"
  11. My mom and I have said that for every one of my sister's kids. LOL!!!
  12. It sure does!! It didn't really boil my blood, but it made absolutely no sense and had nothing whatsoever to do with the plot of the episode. It was just stupid!!!
  13. I'm surprised that no one mentioned "is this because I'm a lesbian?" yet.
  14. My biggest retro crush is Gregory Sierra of Barney Miller, Sanford and Son, Soap, etc. fame. He's retired now, but look up his imdb page. He was in everything!! My favorite regular character of his was Sgt. Chano Amenguale, but my all-time favorite guest spot of his was in the Kung Fu episode entitled "The Stone". He didn't play romance very often, so that was great. Continuing the Latin theme, I also had a thing for Raul Esparza from when he was on SVU. Too bad TIIC completely neutered his character of ADA Barba and gave him one of the worst exits in recent TV history. My very first TV crush was on Fred Savage when he was on The Wonder Years. That was when I was in elementary school and the show was originally on. Here are my other TV crushes, in no particular order: Michael Moriarty (Law & Order) Gary Frank (Family) John Schneider (Dukes of Hazzard, Smallville) Paul Michael Glaser (Starsky & Hutch) Dean Butler (Little House on the Prairie) Larry Wilcox (CHiPs) James Darren (T.J. Hooker) Scott Patterson (Gilmore Girls)
  15. The fact that it was set in Northeast Ohio made it even more awesome. 😉
  16. Thanks. It's like that quote in Casablanca - of all the gin joints in the world, he happens to walk into ours!!! (For the record, no one I know of here listens to "Geraldo in Cleveland". If I happen to be in my car driving along on a weekday between 9 and 10 AM, the radio is not tuned to it!!)
  17. Yes, another Clevelander here - and I love "Hammy"!! Even though the Indians are currently giving me heartburn, it's always a pleasure to listen to Tom Hamilton. It's just too bad that the brain trust at WTAM 1100 AM (which broadcasts the Indians and Cavs games) decided to give Geraldo Rivera of all people a daily radio show. Yes, Geraldo (unfortunately) lives in the Cleveland area now - full-time!! I believe he resides in Shaker Heights, along with his current wife (who is a Cleveland native). Unfortunately, listeners are subjected to the stupid ads for his stupid show (which I have never listened to and will never listen to) during commercial breaks for the Indians games and other local programming. Why can't we vote him off like he was on Dancing With the Stars??? (Not surprisingly, he was the first to get the heave-ho!!!)
  18. Seriously, the show only really started to tank when Mariska was made an EP. Before that, it was still for the most part an ensemble show for the first couple of seasons after Chris Meloni left. When she began to become a producer and sometimes director as well as star...it became the All St. Olivia, All the Time Hour. Blecccccch.
  19. Actually, Sara isn't technically a Gilbert. She is the only child of Barbara (who adopted Melissa and Jonathan with her then-husband, Paul Gilbert) and Harold Abeles. When Sara embarked on a show business career, she took the Gilbert surname for professional purposes. When I was growing up, I did not really like the character of Darlene on Roseanne for whatever reason (maybe it was all that sarcasm and the fact that she didn't really seem to treat her own boyfriend very well). I only started watching The Talk a few years ago due to my caregiving job. My client enjoyed the show, and after my time with that particular client ended I still watched the show as I do to this day. I thought Sara was going to be exactly like Darlene was from back then (this was before the reboot, obviously). I was wrong. I will truly miss Sara when she leaves after this season, but I can understand why. It's obvious that being the moderator was never a role she was comfortable with (and once Carrie Ann became a regular, most of the moderating duties were abdicated to her), and the fact that she looks tired and burned out. In the span of just a few months, she had to deal with major scandals at both of her shows - not only as a co-host/castmate but as an executive producer. If anyone in Hollywood deserves a break, it's Sara. I will miss her dry wit and the stabilizing force she seems to be with the other ladies. Besides, she seems like a real sweetheart and I have never heard an unkind word said about her in all her years in the business (no, Roseanne doesn't count). I wish her well as she starts the next chapter in her life.
  20. No question - SVU. Here's hoping S21 will be the last, though Dick Wolf will probably want to keep going!!!
  21. The "sequel" movies were also filmed in British Columbia. I know it was for budgetary reasons, but the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee were as much of a character of the show/book as the humans. It made as much sense as if someone had decided to do an Anne of Green Gables series in the Smoky Mountains instead of Canada. Yes, count me as another one who wanted to see Christy - Kellie Martin's Christy - with Dr. MacNeill. Their chemistry was electric!!
  22. Plenty of people have mentioned Jimmy Fallon, but to me his announcer/sidekick Higgins is much, much more annoying. Constantly interrupting the monologue/thank you notes with his annoying noises - ugh. Plus, he adds absolutely nothing to the show.
