  1. ^ and hospitals aren't cheap either. Tori's pity parties only signal to me that she is an extreme narcissist and someone needs to think of her children!
  2. I agree about Hines having issues, my mom made us clean up and not have clutter, do the dishes every night, but Hine's house makes hers look like a pig sty! Actually hers was a very clean house, but a house, his is a museum (or mausoleum perhaps) As others have said it is too sterile. And what also really bugged me was him smiling when saying he was angry. What a total disconnect of emotion to expression. I have know people that would do that and they wanted to hide their anger and always present as being "above petty anger" but they were seething inside and it would come out in passive aggressive ways. I don't know Hines enough to say that is the case with him, maybe he always wants to look cool on camera, but it was something that made me uncomfortable watching it. That said, Verne's girlfriend did not approach the situation very well either, throwing eggs on the floor, writing on the windows, etc seemed so juvenile. I get that she wanted Hines to lighten up and a kid needs to be a kid, but that was extreme. A pillow fight would be and easier thing for Hines to handle or maybe just leaving a few dishes on the counter. He would be perhaps uncomfortable, but he wouldn't have felt so disrespected perhaps. My favorite part was showing Verne trying to fly the kite, both guys need more of that activity!
  3. Actually it could have been possible - "Portugese priest Bartolomeu de Gusmao, in 1709, first displayed air trapped in a substance, and gave it the name that it is known by today, balloon. In the 19th century, balloons were developed further, this time in England, when scientists used rubber to store the air, and experimented with ‘lighter than air substances’ such as hydrogen, discovering that it caused the balloon to float upwards. In 1881, these types of ‘balloons’ were made available to the public, and in 1931 the first ‘novelty’ version was produced." from this website - http://whoinventedthe.com/party-balloon/
  4. I feel your pain as an owner of a cute and loving mini pig, I get tired of hearing about how wonderful bacon is. I have always hated it. Too greasy. I use smoked salmon as a substitute. I don't have reptiles any more, but I still have fire belly toads. Lovely little creatures. I am not afraid of snakes or tarantulas, but raccoons, that is another story, they are mean.
  5. I read the spoiler, not that we didn't know something was up last week. But the descriptions of the actual episode... I can't believe they did that to Derek, what a severe disappointment, I am not bothering to watch this episode, and most likely not another one as we have to deal with the aftermath of such an incredibly stupid storyline. Nope, I am done, finally off the Shondaland roller coaster, I can't stand Scandal and I never ever started with the murder show. Too bad, I will miss Callie and Richard. RIP Grey's.
  6. Very interesting episode, mostly because of Catherine's scenes. I also loved the Medieval version of Sia's song Chandelier, played during a party, I want a copy of that version of the song!
  7. I did see pictures online of the cabin, but these comments make me want to see it for myself, I am struggling to see any talents in Tori other than being a cry baby. I am sure my opinion will not change...
  8. My husband communicates in the same way (he is Croatian/American) I tell him to stop yelling at me and he talks even louder! It is an intensity or passion that the yelling is about, I agree it is so hard to work or cook with that going on, but that said, if I was in Ludo's kitchen I would pay attention to what he says, (accent is hard, my husband's English is iffy at times too) Although, if I was the competitor I would trust my taste of the mustard, not Ludo's, my husband hates mustard, it is in so many dishes, I have to balance the flavor so I have to taste for the overall flavor so the mustard doesn't put him off (because he isn't into it doesn't mean other people aren't, I am surprised and happy when he doesn't even suspect this most hated taste isn't in the food, yet it is) Ludo's trip is so familiar to me and he means well, he has much success and he does a good job. His approach, however, is not for the faint of heart.
  9. AMEN! Phew! Thank you for letting me know. I am glad Hank and the animals are at a good home. There are too many abandoned pet pigs as it is, they don't stay small and if not properly trained and bored they will get aggressive.
  10. A lot of people think it was fake or at least hope so. I watched the ep online but I did not see any disclaimers that no animals were harmed in the filming. That piglet was in at least respiratory distress and may have had other serious infections. Believe me pigs have to be seriously ill or on their death bed to not want to eat. And I had seen similar symptoms this spring when my pig was sick, the emergency vet was here in under an hour with all the meds to deal with the problem, we use a mobile vet that also treats horses, they have to have everything they need in their mobile hospital, so I don't understand why the first vet couldn't do emergency care.. That was one sick piglet on the show and so young. Believe what you will but I don't think that piglet survived. I did a little research too, in 2011 Tori had a pet pig named Hank that slept in their bed, (yes I didn't know about that until now, I was only guessing about that in my previous post) when it was little. I cannot find any articles about what happened to Hank. Pigs can live to 15 years old or longer, my first pig was 19 when he got sick and couldn't recover. But he had a good long and pampered life. Tori needs to stay the hell away from any pig, she could never get out of her own BS enough to properly care for a goldfish much less train and care for a pig or more importantly a kid!
  11. That was me. I don't actually "raise" pigs I have just had two mini/pot belly pigs as pets. The pig I have now was the size of Tori's piglet when he was two months old! Breeders of pet pigs are usually cautious when selling their piglets as mini/pot belly piglets cost over $1000!! They want the animals to have good homes, they want to know if the home the piglet is going to is zoned for pigs or at least pet pigs are accepted in their location. The pigs have to be spayed or neutered which is another almost $500 expense. And they don't stay small. My pig is 80-100 lbs (and not fat either, they are dense with muscle) he is about 38" long and about 24" in height. Tori claimed she "rescued it from slaughter" Maybe they visited a pig farm as they were driving around. There was no way for that situation to have a happy ending. She is not living in a place that would be okay for a farm pig at all. Farm pigs can grow to weigh over a thousand pounds. So instead of popping out another kid, she inappropriately babies a pig?! I think also she used it to throw another test at Dean as he would have had to build a pen for it or worse yet he would have had to sleep with it (don't laugh, I slept with my first pig when he was a baby, they are so cuddly and cute) if Tori wanted it to be cuddled and not alone. A huge disaster no matter what. The piglet looked very sick, I don't doubt that it didn't make it. I am just hoping that she doesn't try to get another pet pig either!!
  12. Yes, suckling pig is just that, still nursing piglets. That is a large farm pig. I have had pot-belly, mini pigs for over twenty years. My first pig passed after being with us for almost twenty years. I got my second pig almost three years ago. I did not get him until he was about two months old and he was maybe smaller than the pig Tori had. When a pig will not eat it is very sick. My piggy boy wouldn't eat one day this spring, I had the vet out within hours. He had a respiratory infection and sinus infection. He got antibiotic and pain shots and then I had meds to give him orally. He got well pretty fast, he was a couple years old and stronger than a new born piglet. The pig Tori got probably got an infection and was too young to overcome it. Tori had no business getting a farm piglet, no way, no how. If you object to pigs getting raised to be eaten, do as I do and never, ever eat pork. And educate people to how intelligent (as smart as dolphins) and emotional pigs are. Pigs are as enormous of a commitment as kids are (minus the college fund), they need attention and training and a social structure that fits them. The last thing they are are stuffed comfort toys Tori!!!!!! Dean was so right about her bringing chaos, randomly. I had seen pictures of her with a spotted white pot belly pig and she mentioned having a "pig again," what happened to that pig??!! A pig is the very last thing she should be allowed to have, ever. Tori is one big energy suck. She will ream Dean should he want to leave, so he is stuck and I totally feel sorry for him, she is a freaking nightmare!!!!!!!! She needs real therapy, not on camera BS that this show is. I am glad it is over and look forward to seeing Dean on CSI. An FYI Tori, you are not getting booked because you are a train wreck, get off the reality shows and get someone to help you back to the REAL WORLD.
  13. I agree totally. I have had bad migraines and at their worst I was whimpering in a totally dark room, totally debilitated, the worst pain I have felt (I never had kids so I am sure child birth is worse). I don't get those bad ones too much any more because I recognize the signs of one coming on and make adjustments. I do still get ocular migraines that are triggered by light flashing into my eyes. I am pretty much unable to function until it passes. Stress is definitely a trigger, but Tori's stresses are day to day things we all must deal with inflated to gigantic proportions. Pretty crazy, her "poor me" disfunction is what should be dealt with, and not her so called "migraines"
  14. It is not a fetish, but the ultimate way to be noticed, babied and exulted. Tori is toxic. period. I pity those kids. How do I know? Too many things remind me of my own mother with very similar dysfunctions. I survived only after quite a bit of therapy. I also had a few healthy adult role models. So far Dean is much better for them than Tori . I think that he really does deserve better, hope he can leave and just be on his own for a while and for their sakes, have the kids with him.
  15. Oh dear, oh dear, oh dear. I did, I did watch it all. The only talent was the actress playing Tori's mom. Good thing I had an stiff drink in my hand the whole time. At least I got some pleasure from the drink. So that is Tori's claim to having a movie and TV career. Good lord, I was never a fan of Dean's until I watched him on a couple Food Network cooking shows, he seemed really happy and in his element. Now he gets to be the forever bad guy, or so Tori wants us to believe, but he is very good with his kids, he made a major mistake (or several) and he is paying, he is. My mother was a "victim" like Tori, nothing in the world would make her happy and everyone's attention always had to be on her misery. It will bite Tori in the end, it will, I have seen it with my family. Dean should leave, take the kids and be a single dad, that is his only path to peace right now. No amount of money is worth this hell he is in.
  16. I liked Stacy and was hoping she would go far. But I am confused about her hair style choice. The color is extreme, but also is it shaved or does she have an issue with hair loss? It is hard to tell, and she is a pretty girl so it is very distracting. I thought her dish sounded lovely, sometimes Manhatten clam chowder has a musty or off taste to me, others like it, I don't, it could be from a choice of herbs, I don't know. Maybe it also was a bit sandy, that wouldn't bother me, but the judges have to look for the flaws to justify who stays and who goes.
  17. I am glad I am not alone in feeling this Ep was boring and frankly really bad. It is way too soon for a Maggie centric ep. I don't believe the character, too contrived, too bad the actress is fine, the material and situation she is given is so tedious. Maybe it will get better. As long as Meredith is there I will watch, should she go and Maggie be the new Grey I doubt I could hang in. The writing of the show is so out there, the actors sell it. For me that is Mere/Der, was Christina, still is Alex and ex Chief Richard.
  18. I have always loved the song Chandelier, I didn't know about the video until this show. At first I was repelled by the dance in the video, but after watching it several times (and the various parodies) I started to understand it. As an artist myself, I do understand the highs and lows and living on the edge of sanity to be truly creative (and the drinking to make it all just stop so I can be normal for a change, or better yet, forget this world completely) I really appreciated Sia on a deeper level because of her performance on this show. It is hard to judge unless one has had similar experiences, I can totally relate to her wanting to perform the way she does. I love her songs, her lyrics and her voice. She can stand on her head, in drag if she wants to I will still be a fan. I did find Allison as an addition to the dance a bad choice. Her dance was so forced, Maddy was so comfortable with it (well she has done it a bazillion times...) Maddy is very talented, and likable, Allison was pretty much the opposite. I can't quite understand the comments about the nude leotard, I started dancing at the age of seven, we had all colors, and thank god, not limited to the colors of the Royal ballet... black leotard and pink tights. I wore light blues, pinks, beige and at times black. I know people project the worst these days, but perhaps that is all it is, a projection. I had no issues with the costume. I kind of agree about Julianne Hough's dance, it was okay, there were good parts, but not good enough for such a featured spot with so may supporting male dancers doing basically the same thing over and over. I would rather see a more artistic and lyrical dance with one, maybe two partners. In a way the simple statement that is made by Maddie doing the spits in Chandelier illustrates this. I have seen several dance interpretations to that song now, but the timing of how Maddie does the splits is what transforms the simplest of moves to a statement and reflection of the song. I saw no art in Julianne's dance, just a bunch of flinging and fluffing about. Maybe she needs to sit and have a tea party with Maddie...
  19. I have only seen natto with soybeans, it seems mountain yam added is a variation, but not that common. I have had natto, but it was made here in California, it wasn't as sticky, it was a bit sweet, but it did have whole soybeans as well as seaweed in it. I can say the California version was quite tasty and still a fermented soybean miso.
  20. I enjoyed the first episode, but I thought the challengers won, they were better. I do agree it needs some clarity and trimming, but that said I am already looking forward to the next episode. My favorite bit was when Penn & Teller de-bunked the mint box scam.
  21. I wish I had, I had horrible dreams after watching this episode, those lips, that wretched video. Please make it stop!
  22. I will say, I have an opposite view than most about the religion thing. My mother was deeply traumatized by the Catholic Church, I was forbidden to go inside of a Catholic Church as a child. It is one thing to create a nice family tradition, light a candle, have a special food, talk about what you liked about your day, there are so many ways to bring a family time into a meal without gibbering on with a napkin on your head. Penn's family has no connection to such an act, plus he may have a real reason to reject religion, a deeper more painful one. So to insist that that house rule is that everyone endure your religious ceremony with no idea what is going on, is as rude as Penn letting the insults happen during the meal. Imagine if the house rules for the Jewish household was that they HAD to eat pork! (though I would feel their pain, not for religious reasons, but I have a pet mini pig, no pork is ever in this house!!) I think her goal was a worthy one, the execution was a major fail. The real goal, at least so it seemed for that ceremony is to create a family bond, and because it had to be such a narrow way to express it, the whole beauty of a personal family tradition to create that bond just got over looked because forcing someone to have a dinner that is so utterly foreign to them is as much a slap in the face as forcing someone to eat something taboo because in your religion you eat that item once a week.
  23. I remember seeing her on the show "Hotel" when she was about 10 or 11 years old. Her hair was a medium brown. She was pretty cute and she looked good on 90210. But the plastic work on her is just horrible. She looks like a (scary) clown and her hair looks like a cheap wig. I tried to watch this episode, I hadn't seen any others just read about them. Good lord what a mess. Couldn't watch after just a short time. Both her and Dean are mentally ill and should not be airing this crap in public and especially not with a fake therapist. Tori go back to crafting or designing weddings, trying to be deep is not your forte.
  24. Oh dear, Wendy Williams is one I put in the same category as the Abby dancing moms horror show. Why do they even get air time? I have never watched her show and never will, Meryl just had an amazing win and DWTS season and WW taints by asking such questions?? Shame on Wendy!!
  25. I have to agree with Len about Meryl being in a class of her own. Charlie and Meryl on on ice are astounding, but to translate the flow of movement you have on ice to a dance floor is super hard. I tried to do that in the dances I did on the floor, translate the feeling, the execution, the freedom, I loved the ice, but it is crazy hard to do that on a daily basis unless you have a financial backer because you are going somewhere with it, (i.e. Olympics) it is soooo expensive. And I do think Meryl was more successful and she had the perfect partner. I watched the Mary Poppins number again, Charlie is great but Sharna made a few mistakes, first the over use of canes/umbrellas, the over repeat of steps, and that horrible plunging neckline, so not in the spirit of the character. Maks has been through this so many times, he has figured out how to make it work, the best dancing I have seen from him ever and he made great decisions on the dances. All in all a lovely season, I thank all competitors and Pros for a lovely time.
