  1. I make 6 hard boiled eggs every week. Put in pan, cover well with cold water, bring to rolling boil, put lid on and turn off heat. Let stand 24-26 minutes, less for small eggs. Pour out hot water, cover with lots of ice and water to quickly chill them. Let stand in the cold water for an hour, dry and put in fridge. They peel just fine, unless they are super fresh. Let eggs be a week or two old before you boil them. You can shake them around in the pan once they are cold to crack the shells if you want them all peeled at one time.
  2. Alex Trebek and the Colonial Penn commercials drive me nuts. It's terrible whole life insurance, very low coverage per "unit" and high cost, not to mention limited benefits early on. It reduces my "respect" of him that he would sell this crap to older people who don't understand it. They trust him, and in this case, they shouldn't. I'm not a fan of reverse mortgages, but I also don't believe we "owe" our heirs anything. If we were wealthy, I'd love to be able to do something for our grandkids. But our mortgage free house is part of our retirement planning. It's not something we want to save so we can leave it to someone. And my elderly mom sold her mortgage free house last year, and is living on the money. I don't expect to be left anything.
  3. This is the commercial that brought me here. It's just horrible.
  4. We watched a couple more episodes that were recorded. It's just not funny. I think hubby deleted the remaining shows. I like the actor who played Dave, but his face shows up a lot. Surely there are more actors looking for short term work. There is something off putting about seeing the same actor on several shows at the same time.
  5. I liked him on Mom, he and Jill had good chemistry. This show is ho-hum. I don't know why, but I can't stand the brother. At all.
  6. Episode 2...the mom called the 2 year old a bitch, in front of the older daughter. How does that pass for humor? Will Sasso is too too good for this drek. So is Jane Curtain. Gah.
  7. Anissa was of Lebanese descent. She was a good little actress, and breaks my heart in the first or second episode when she is in bed, talking to Mrs. Beasley, and says how grownups always lie, and that it will be "all different in the morning." She was so young, and so cute. It's tragic what happened to her. I recently watched this show through all the episodes, and enjoyed most of it. Their depiction of eastern peoples is troubling, but shows of this decade were all this way. Brian Keith was hunky.
  8. Two different channels have been running KOQ lately, so we've had the show on a lot. Most of the episodes are great, but the 4 I won't watch are the ones with Bryan Cranston as the awful neighbor. He and his wife are too annoying for words, and I turn the show off whenever those episodes come on. The actress is also on some episodes of Frazier, and she sets my teeth on edge in that show as well. I'm old enough to remember Stiller and Meara, so watching them on this show is a hoot. His humor is soooo broad, it really works for me, especially these last few months. I love Doug's parents, his mom in particular. The last few shows are very disappointing for me, and a departure from the characters built in the preceding seasons. Yes, they are both selfish and immature, but the hatefulness just didn't feel right. The pressure of 2 babies on the heels of such discord would have been ridiculous, and something that would have truly been hard to get over. Making a child the "fix" for such a marriage is just wrong on so many levels.
  9. I don't hate Sunny, but I do dislike her loud obnoxious behavior enough to no longer watch the show. And the chewing-talking-loud lip smacking at the same time, all done with a hot mic.
  10. Yes! Isn't that a no brainer? Seemed totally intentional to me...plate something you know won't be eaten the way you would want, then carp when it gets bad press. Not sorry to see fullofmalarky go home.
  11. Very happy to not have to see Kerri Walsh Jenning's bare midsection. Something about her has always rubbed me the wrong way. Very unclear why we only got to see Nastia Liukin in profile. Strange editing this epi. Happy for Stephanie, I'd love to taste her lemon dessert. Powerlifting? Seriously? Does she take her weights with her everywhere she goes? That clip seemed so out of place. Fussy pretty food, but that duck looked terrible, like she sliced it with a butter knife.
  12. My first thought was "Finally, a new idea!"
  13. He was moving to a new high rise type apartment building. Keeping so many birds would be impossible and most likely not permitted.
  14. That 5 pounds would have been about equal to $82 now. It would have taken the grandma a long time to save up. It's more what it represented than the actual money. Death brings out the best and worst, and a grieving person is likely to say and do things they wouldn't normally say.
  15. The birds themselves won't make anyone sick. There is no belief to suspend.
  16. I'm 61...I remember my dad holding me on his lap, and holding my arm as I got the smallpox vaccination on the back of my upper arm. It's been a long time since I looked for the scar, it's hard to see now, but it was very visible and round, about ⅓ of an inch across when I was younger and thinner. I seem to remember it sort of scabbing over, then the scab fell off, leaving an imprint type scar. This episode was ok, but the US editing really throws off the flow somehow. Some of the resolutions seemed rushed or incomplete. Why make a point of showing that pretty fabric for the sari, then not show the finished product? I thought Phyllis reacted to the boys arm because they were so thin, she mentioned later they could stand a decent meal.
  17. This show is now too stoopid to watch. Let's recap: The brother-in-law actually goes through his sister-in-laws trash. Opens the bag and roots through the trash bag. Would have served him right if there had been used sanitary products in there. Same guy explains to his wife that women are built to watch the kids because she has body parts that make food. In 2020, not 1920. Husband/grandpa doesn't want to spend time with his grandson, so he eats chicken salad he knows is spoiled and has already sickened his wife. First guy then also eats spoiled chicken salad to avoid conflict with wife. Who is writing this show? And where is the youngest girl? Perhaps her parent's saw how horrible it is and have pulled her out of the show.
  18. Billy Gardell is in a couple of Judging Amy episodes. He works at the newspaper that Vincent works at.
  19. Why is Tim Allen mouthing the other actor's lines? It was very noticeable during the scene with Leno in the chili cook off episode. I've always seen the character of Vanessa as a throw away. That the actress has been ok with the writing for that character is troublesome. It really hit home with her views during the presidential election, when she advocated voting for a women regardless of her political views, just because she was a women. She even asked Chuck to support her views by assuming he had voted for Obama just because of the color of his skin. Vanessa comes across as a simple minded moron.
  20. Right out through the wall into the entryway-living room. Can't stand Claire. There were some laughs in this episode...I gave myself a coughing fit when Luke made the pencil sharpener noise. Loved Haley's butterfly sweater, but her scene with Alex was flat out weird/terrible.
  21. Finally watched the last 3 episodes of Season 3. What a huge disappointment. So many of this season's episodes has so much filler...slow slow scenes, music and no dialog, and too much OC with her frowning face. What a let down after the first 2 seasons. QE looks so much happier in most pictures you can find from that time frame. I realize her public face would be somewhat different, but OC looks much older and much heavier than QE looked during those years. Her take on the Q just pull me out of the show every time she is on camera. And TM seems to have taken a lesson from the actor who plays Albert in Victoria. That whispers deep voice...gah. The only episode that left any impression on me was the school disaster. The rest have been mostly forgettable.
  22. I was riffing more on the inappropriate "joke" about a child being kidnapped, not the ignorant teacher who would say such a thing. But yes, what kind of a person would repeat that, like it was no big deal? Horrible on both counts. I take the writers of the show have already stopped coming to work? Like at the end of season 8?
  23. I found the lead in joke by the teacher asking Jay to help in very poor taste. It was something about needing a stand-in for a kid in the play because he had been kidnapped by his step-father. Horrible awful and not funny at all. Joe was funny, "Get a hold of yourself man!"
