  1. Or they outright thought their white, special-Christian status would save them. Well, it's worked for awhile already. Do you know if there are ways for the persecuted ones to put this through the US court system again? Meaning, are there legal ways for them to again postpone deportation?
  2. I always thought "Alice" was a younger person, maybe a friend of one of the Holt kids. According to Reddit, though, "Alice" was Bobye Holt's mother and is now deceased. WTF wouldn't an adult, especially an older one, speak out (to CPS!) instead of writing a letter that she didn't send but instead stuffed in a book?! That's why I think she must have been a teenager.
  3. I'd describe as "Gothard made up faith to make money and to prey on young women."
  4. I didn't ask if she could become a citizen because she's married to one. I asked if she could be deported even though she is the mother of a US citizen.
  5. I wonder if he reported it on his taxes?* *Disclaimer before someone starts yapping at me: I have no idea if TLC buying food/furniture/houses for his family should be or is reported. I do know that when my employer gives any kind of "gift" bonus -- usually gift cards -- it's a line item on my payslip as a type of income.
  6. Since we're on the topic, what happens if the Romeikes are deported? Would Lydia have to go even though she's now the mother of a US citizen? What about her US-born siblings? I live in an area with a large refugee population - Afghanis, Iraqis, Chaldeans, Syrians, Bosnians, Croatians, and more. The attention-whoring Romeikes don't compare. The mean-snarker part of me will be tickled if they don't get to stay.
  7. Mark and Elizabeth were one of my favorite couples, too. Just normal people growing into a relationship and doing couple things, not just F&F like some others.
  8. Romano did call Luka Igor. I thought it was pretty funny. Romano had great one-liners. Another Romano funny -- remember when he was following Weaver around, after she came out to everyone, and he was loudly reading some article about LGTBQ+ health? "LESBIANS blah blah blah LESBIANS blah blah blah." Weaver was so visibly annoyed and uncomfortable, which is usually fun to see.
  9. I disagree. I think the phones, at least, must have been new, and probably the Macs that came later. As far as furniture, if I had a passel of feral children who'd be climbing all over it, I'd buy used, too. There is nothing wrong with buying used cars.
  10. They don't want those great schools! People around the world want their children to get great educations, but not these "persecuted" morons. As far as low crime and affordable heathcare, I'm sure they think of those things as heathen socialism, or some such nonsense.
  11. Probably nothing. I doubt their deportation is even a twinkle in someone's eye. It's just performative clickbait bullshit.
  12. I won't watch the "persecuted" Bates-Romeikes' video. Could someone who's taken one for the team fill me in?
  13. It's all in the name. Fundie = fun die. It makes me sad to see little kids so tense and nervous.
  14. Even in On the Road with Too Many Duggars, Jana had a Motorola Razr, which was the trendy phone at the time (it was pre-iPhone!). I think you're right about Jim Bob spending money on the adult kids, even though it was on Jim Bob-approved things. I mean, John got a plane and flying lessons.
  15. Josh's conviction was almost two years ago. If that prompted the change, why TF did it take them so long? Shiny Happy People couldn't have come as a big shock, anyway. Something else had to be at the source.
  16. Jill is a hell of a lot smarter than we give her credit for, not to mention stronger and braver. She's probably the smartest of the Duggars. I say "probably" only because it can't be quantified. Speaking from experience, it is hard to stand up to one's abusive parents, and even harder to be the black sheep of the family because you stood up. Jill is tough.
  17. It's a technicality, probably. It's also really hard to prove fraud by someone else. As far as the Gosselin girls' college, on paper, KHate is a single mother of six. I would guess that Mady and Cara got grants, scholarships, and loans galore. Again, technicalities.
  18. I'm first in line at my library. I guess there are not many interested in it here. I'm waiting for it to come in.
  19. Most important thing to remember about any fundie's kid's name: It could almost always be worse. Here's looking at you, Spurgeon, Heistheway, Nehemiah, Newman, Gideon x2, Jinger, and others. There's some debate on Reddit about whether the Tyjeer in the obit is a Caldwell kid or a cousin. And about how to pronounce that monstrosity of a name.
  20. The difference is that for these bible beaters, cheating means anything from talking to someone alone after church with their spouses five feet away, to a torrid years-long love affair. I would bet money that any cheating in Fundie World is more like the former than the latter. I do know a few non-fundie women who are that insecure. My bitch of a sister-in-law is one. I think it's rooted in women thinking they are nothing without a man, any man. And it's usually the women who get married young -- the aforementioned bitch was 21 -- who are that shallow.
