Some more table press interviews from SDCC. I have only had time to listen to Misha's, so not too sure how much new info is in the others. Misha's didn't really have anything groundbreaking just some stuff about Cas next season, the end of GISHWHES and his thoughts on directing.

I LOVE this episode overall and it definitely feature in my top 5 for the season if not top 3. I love the various interactions between the different members of the cast! I loved that we got to see them interacting with Sam and Dean, but each other. It's a shame they don't really make episodes that incorporate both the regular and the recurring like this anymore! The case of the week was awesome! Meg's use of hellhounds and the reference to Dean's history with them! Cas and Lucifer's talk, the epic death scene! It's an all around wonderful episode. My only dislike was the bull crap Dean/Jo emotional manipulation. IMO Dean had always seen Jo as a little sister rather than a romantic interest, and Edlund retconned that aspect into the episode to heighten the loss for Dean. It wasn't needed! Grieving for his pseudo younger sister would have been enough

Great episode and likely to end up in my top ten of S5when I finish rewatching the season. I loved the opening scene, the humour throughout the episode made me chuckle on several occasions (which is a rarity) for this show! I also appreciated the insight into the brothers issue. P.S: Am I the only one who finds it sad that a part of Dean was so desperate to share his load with someone that his mind conjured someone for him to confide in. Poor Dean :(

It isn't a series yet! The CW probably won't decide, one way or the other, until sometime next year after the backdoor pilot has aired :)

I noticed some talk about several issues over the past few days namely the issue of consent in specific circumstances and the true power, or lack thereof, or the demon blood. I can't seem to find the original posts, but I thought I'd offer my own thoughts on these issues. The Demon Blood IMO the demon blood was a psychological crutch Sam clung on to in order to persuade himself that it was the blood that was dark rather than Sam himself. Ruby herself explicitly states this in her final scene. "It wasn't the blood. It was you... and your choices. I just gave you the options, and you chose the right path every time. You didn't need the feather to fly, you had it in you the whole time, Dumbo". Ordinarily, I would advise against trusting Ruby, but IMO she was portrayed as telling the truth here. After two years of consistent lying she was finally getting to offload and share how "awesome" she is! In addition to this, the idea of the demon blood being a crutch, rather than a necessity, fits better with the words of the other psychic children in season two. Ava, who was portrayed as being able to control demons due to embracing her powers, states the following "the learning curve is so fast, it’s crazy, the switches that just flip in your brain." There is no mention of relying on demon blood or any other substance. It was simply about Ava and her decision to give into the darkness within her. This ties in perfectly with Ruby's word and creates more consistency between seasons than the idea Sam truly needed the blood to use his psychic powers. Consent throughout the Season As those who've read my posts in the "bitch vs jerk" thread know consent it a major issue with me. Without getting into bitch vs jerk territory it is my reason for reacting the way I did to Dean's decision to aid Gadreel with possessing Sam. However, I personally have no issue with Dean's decision to get Death to reensoul Sam, or Sam's decision to try and free Dean from the mark of Cain. The reason for this is simple; neither were in the position to give or deny consent. Sam's soul was missing. He was operating without a large portion of the things that make Sam the person he was. While Dean still had a soul, but it had been utterly twisted and corrupted by the act of transforming into a demon. Soulless Sam was not the true Sam nor was Demon!Dean the real Dean. They had both been altered at a fundamental level and the other brother had to operate solely on what they thought the real deal would want. Both assumptions were proven correct as a fully formed Sam thanked Dean for what he did and Dean was thankful to be rid of the mark of Cain also.

S05.E07: The Curious Case Of Dean Winchester
Wayward Son replied to DittyDotDot's topic in Supernatural
Personally, I put it down to arrogance on Patrick's part. He went into that game believing Sam "wasn't much of a player" and he treated him accordingly, rather than as a genuine threat to be watched. Then at the end he was so convinced he had Sam all wound up, from the threat to Dean, that he never stopped to consider Sam's panic was anything but genuine. I thought the whole thing was rather believable. Patrick went into the game with a particular view of Sam and Sam used it to his advantage. -
I agree with @DittyDotDot, his first use of the ability came during his encounter with Alastair. Sam says as much before killing him.

Agreed! I recently rewatched Are You There God It's Me Dean Winchester and Meg's speech really got me thinking. The show likes to talk about the lives they save, but how many have they completely ruined by their stab first, ask questions later policy? Not just the meat suits murdered, but the friends and family, like Meg's little sister, who lost a loved one.

It could easily have been this! Since he was barely in the second half of season 12 (he was only in episodes 15, 19 and 23), it is pretty feasible that he did his recordings at a different time to J2.

I was pleased to hear that :) . I don't want to get my hopes up too much, but the Misha insight into Cas was the most appealing parts of the comic con spoilers for me :) . I also like knowing that we should know his fate by episode 6.
-
With Jessica adding that she heard Misha refer to the actor with him in the empty (or whatever realm) as "handsome". Has anyone's opinions on who that could be changed?

Awesome! Sorry for my initial bad wording causing confusion.

I've decided to better phase questions 4 and 5. 4. What episodes did (insert name of your highest ranking actor in question 1) show their best acting skills. 5. What episodes did (insert name of lowest ranking actor in question 1) show their best acting skills. So basically 4 is for people to talk all about their favourite actors best performances and 5 is to encourage some nice words for actors one may not normally favour :)

The LittleTreeHopper has posted an updated spoiler sheet.

To kick start some actor discussion here are some questions 1. Rank the acting ability of J2M. (This is strictly in regards to their acting skill) 2. Rank J2M Overall. (This can be based on the show, your own personal encounters with them, con videos, social media etc) 3. Who is your favourite actor outside of J2M? (Or your favourite if you prefer someone out of the main three) 4. What episodes did (insert name of your highest ranking actor in question 1) show their best acting skills. 5. What episodes did (insert name of your lowest ranking actor in question 1) show their best acting skills. 6. What is it you like about the actor you ranked highest for question two. ((To avoid bitch vs jerk let's try and stick to discussing the strengths of the actors as opposed to getting into their perceived weaknesses :) )) 1. Since my answer can change depending on genre I am going to give three seperatee lists; overall acting, dramatic acting and comedy acting. Overall Acting Jensen Ackles (7/10) Jared Padaleckj (6/10) Misha Collins (6/10) Dramatic Acting Jensen Ackles (10/10) Jared Padalecki (7/10) Misha Collins (6/10) Comedy Acting Misha Collins (6/10) Jared Padalecki (4/10) Jensen Ackles (3/10) 2. I am not going to give actual marks because I feel that's just tacky when personality is a factor likely considered. 1. Misha Collins 2. Jared Padalecki 3. Jensen Ackles 3. This is honestly a tough one as the show has had so many wonderful actors over the year. I would probably say Jeffrey Dean Morgan, because while I have some issues with his character, JDM was an excellent actor and had brilliant chemistry with Jared and Jensen. I'd also like to give special shout outs to Jim Beaver (Bobby), Fredric Lehne (Azazel) and Samantha Ferris (Ellen). 4. Jensen always puts in a good performance for the drama based episode, so it is hard to narrow it down. However, episodes such as In my Time of Dying, The End, and On the Head of a Pin particularly stand out in my mind. 5. While he may not put in as consistent a performance as Jensen, Misha has also put in some pretty great performances over the years. My favourites include The Rapture and The Man Who would be King. I also loved his portrayal of Cas adjusting to humanity and growing as a person throughout season nine. 6. I positively adore Misha and his overall approach to life. I love that he has been through so many difficult times and made a life for himself. I love how open minded he is and that he shows such interest in his fans and helping them. I also admire all the work he has done through charitable projects such as YANA and GISHWHES. He also has a sense of humour similar to my own and so it appeals to me.

Sorry, that was the point I was trying to make only more winded. On SN he and Jared are big fishes. They get all the press time, award attention etc. They are the stars and practically treated like royalty within their small pond. However, if Jensen had taken say the role of Hawkeye, a role I know he was offered, and many bemoan he didn't take, the situation would be completely different. Yes, a role in a marvel movie would have given him greater exposure, but he would have been a little fish in a big world. Due to the supporting role he was playing he would have been overshadowed by the big players like Chris Evans, Robert Downey JR etc at both conventions and official events. So it may suit his purposes to be the big fish in the small pond than a small one in a bigger one. And since, like I said, he can't stop himself from spending interviews gushing about Sam, I think Jensen is more than happy where he is and doesn't need to be regarded as a victim.
-
But the show didn't treat it like that. Ultimately, Ezekiel played a key role in saving the world and was referred to by Sam as a friend. Plus we had Sam take away any legitimacy to his arguments with the catch all "I lied". Any wrong doing on Dean's part was quickly swept under the carpet and forgotten. We don't hear people talk about it years later the way there is still occasional references to Sam freeing Lucifer.

It could be argued that Jensen (and Jared) probably enjoy being where they are because of the power their position ! IMO any realistic fan of the show knows that without J2 the show can't survive and that is bound to give them a lot of power BTS. Just think of the examples they've given of times they've stepped in and demanded changes be made to the script etc. Then there is the fact at conventions, interviews etc those two are the stars. It is Jared and Jensen who get the magazine covers, it is Jared and Jensen who get the talk show interviews (on the rare occasion they occur), it is Jared and Jensen who collect the awards they get. If he quits Supernatural he runs the risk of getting another role where he is just another main cast member and holds nowhere near the same elevated importance as SN. Plus, IMO Jensen adores the story of Sam and Dean, their relationship and both character. Just look at how he, much to my extreme annoyance, since Misha's interview time is considerably less, rudely interrupted an interviewer before she could ask MC a question, so he could gush over "how every hero needs their Sam" *eye roll*

This is where we can discuss the actors! Our thoughts on their performance, who we regard as the best, the worst etc. Our own speculation on their thoughts on particular issues, their career progression etc. Basically anything acting related that doesn't already fit in an existing thread.
