It makes me curious though. If J2 are at San Diego, Misha isn't in the episode apparently and Mark Pellegrino is in LA then who will be filming for the next few days? Could it be Samantha Smith / Mary in the AU? Maybe interacting with AUs of former characters?

Overall, I find this to be a pretty great episode! I LOVE everything between Dean and Castiel in the green room and every time I watch the scene where Cas appears into the room, he and Dean share non verbal communication before banishing Zachariah I cheer! This was officially the moment Cas broke himself away from the corrupt influence of his superiors and I love it! Go Cas. Little rebel Castiel is always my favourite Castiel. I also thought the reveal that killing Lilith was the final seal was a rather clever twist! The attempts to tie in the physic kid storyline by revealing that Lucifer had assigned him to find a 'special kid' was also reasonably well done. Although ((Season 5 spoilers next)) Overall, I just thought it was a great episode with the angels true agenda finally unveiled and the inevitable rise of Lucifer occurring. However, I do have one complaint about the episode! Genevieve's acting during the big reveal scene was absolutely terrible! The "I'm awesome" line actually makes me cringe :s. In regards to the Bobby line I've the UO that I totally agree with him here. I would have had sympathy for Dean's plight, but then he had to go and reiterate the tired message that Sam's decision to go to Stanford was abandoning his family. I'm sorry, but Dean really needs to grow up! Sam deciding to go to Stanford is not 'abandoning his family' or remotely comparable to his decision to drink blood and work with Ruby. Sam's desire to not live a life of pain and death is not a crime, which he should be continuously belittled for. If Dean had kept his thoughts to the situation on hand I'd have felt sorry for him, but his decision to whine about Stanford yet again just bursts that bubble and inspires a "boo hoo princess" response from me also.

As I said earlier, according to the film dates they'd be missing two (at most three) days of episode one and three days of episode two, which is pretty standard for the show in its current state. Also, to be fair to Jared and Jensen, they are missing the week for promotional things in relation to the show such as the SDCC stuff and the appearance on Conan etc. It isn't as though they've randomly swanned off to Spain to lie on the beach for a week. They're still technically working during the week ahead, and I'd imagine promoting the new season is work the CW would consider important. In regards to the whole film star thing, personally, I think that's an unfair comparison. What we have to remember is that most television shows have four or five leads if not more. The work load is therefore divided into five whereas with Supernatural it was divided into two. It is very rare for a show to have a set up like that. The only comparable example I can think of is the X Files and even it didn't keep both leads for its entire run. Therefore, J2 were working a ridiculous amount of hours in the earlier seasons. Far above and beyond the work load given to actors on other shows. IMO, the work load they have now / the amount they appear on episodes is comparable to the leads / main cast on pretty much every show. Yes, it is far less than what they used to work, but hardly the same as a lead role with four lines, or at least that's my opinion.

Yeah, I've heard, with only a few exceptions, J2 don't work Fridays and Mondays. That's why we'll often hear of others like Sam Smith, Misha etc filming on those days. It's also why I think the two of them missing a few days from ep 1 and 2 is nowhere near the big deal others seem to think it is.

Thanks for letting us know Catrox :) . I'll let Jakes fact check here if they'd like. I'm really not a big enough J2 fan to be interested in watching a 30 min plus video of them, especially since show questions are said to be minimum these days.

People replied to that post by Jessica saying Jensen said it during the Chicon Gold Panel. I don't watch Con videos so hopefully someone on here who has seen it can confirm :)

No, that's a different one I believe. She's the one who creates a 'spoiler sheet' where she complies everything we know. For instance who has been spotted on set, pictures released by crew members etc. Here is what she has for S13 so far http://ibelieveinthelittletreetopper.tumblr.com/post/162826766658/supernatural-season-13-spoiler-sheet She probably makes her own guesses and speculations in other tumblr posts just like we do, but she tends to stick to just fact for the spoiler sheet or labels stuff she isn't 100% sure of with stuff like "probably" "probably not" etc.

According to Jessica's spoiler sheet (The little tree hopper on tumblr) the filming dates for 13x01 and 13x02 are 13x01: July 12 - July 21 13x02: July 24 - August 2 So they would be missing the last two days of episode 1 and the first three of episode 2. Since J2 are said to take several days off now anyways I actually don't think the episodes will be as affected as people are fearing. I need to try and find the source again, but per Jensen episode 2 will be Cas free. According to Jensen, Misha will only film one day in July, and we know that day has already occurred.

This episode remains one of the finest demonstrations of acting skill by Misha Collins throughout his time on the show! The subtle (and not so subtle) differences between his general portrayal of Castiel and his portrayal of Jimmy highlight a more nuanced performance than many give him credit for. The highlights of his acting in this episode were; a) the talk with Jimmy and Amelia about his desire to return home to his family. Misha's performance here is both nuanced and heartfelt and I really feel he pulled off the mixture of guilt and hope currently experience by Jimmy. B) His outburst at Castiel for failing to uphold his promise to his family. The emotion here felt real and Misha managed to hold himself back enough that it didn't come across as over the top and overly dramatic. C) The scene where Jimmy is seen beggining Cas!Claire to take him instead! He does a wonderful job of both portraying Jimmy's physical pain as he lies dying and his desire to protect his daughter from the suffering he has endured. All in all, I'm rather fond of this episode for the fine Misha Collins acting if nothing else. Other highlights of the episode include; Sam struggling to cope without the 'high' provided by the demon blood and Dean finally discovering the depths his brother has sunk to. Jared did a great job of highlighting Sam's unsettled behaviour and Jensen did a wonderful job of portraying the range of emotions Dean was experiencing in that moment. I think that was the entire point of the scene, to convey the fact that something wasn't right with Castiel. Earlier in the episode Anna had spoken of how he had just been forcibly dragged back to heaven in a manner she described as "awfully. painfully bad". Now he is shown to behave in a manner that is clearly cold and utterly manipulative to achieve his goal namely having a vessel, be it Claire or Jimmy, to fight the war. This is of course in great contrast to the love of humanity he spoke of as early as It's the Great Pumpkin Sam Winchester and the empathy and doubt he displayed during On the Head of a Pin. It was a jerk thing to do. We are supposed to see it as a jerk thing to do, as it comes as a result of his time in heaven. Time that we know from later episodes So I think Castiel's jerkish behaviour makes sense here :)

I actually feel the opposite! I want them to resurrect Cas, since If I recall correctly he wasn't threatened with the empty, and that's the end of the death and resurrections on this show. I'd love for death to become a legitimate threat to the brothers again because they're living with the knowledge that next time it is actually for keeps.

Not Quite M Night Levels: Fantasy Casting Time!

At least Jared seems to know his own limits! Being a bad comedy actor on a drama show like Supernatural is acceptable because the show isn't about comedy. However, being a bad comedy actor, like J2 are, on a sitcom would just be embarrassing. On the other hand, while he's a weaker dramatic actor than J2, I feel Misha would be able to handle a role on a sitcom. He has great comedic timing and humour. -
Not one of my favourites! I find it dull and I'm not a fan of the whole "introducing a third brother" storyline! Plus the diner scene with Dean, Sam and Adam is so stupid. Dean would have to be a pretty big moron to seemingly murder Adam in the middle of a crowded diner, if he had reacted to the silver and holy water. While I'm not the biggest fan of Dean, even I don't consider Dean a big enough moron for this scene to be in character.

I'm not sure if this twitter user has anything to do with the show, but I saw this on thelittletreehoppers tumblr. Apparently the first episode is titled Lost and Found https://mobile.twitter.com/cutierobandrich/status/887021555015921666 If true is this a reference to them finding Mary and Lucifer by association? She's the only one I can think of who would fit the description "lost"

Didn't Dean send a fake text from her phone or something? It'd have been hard for him to do that with a hallucinations phone ;)

Eh, in drama I'd agree he's the weakest of the three, but in the area of comedy he's miles above Jared and Jensen who are truly terrible at it. -

Since I consider Jensen, and to a lesser extent Jared, to be completely abysmal comedy actors anything involving comedy is out. I'd have liked to have seen Jared's take on Angel from the Buffyverse. I'd love to see Misha in a marvel movie! Perhaps as an alien of some sort? He's excellent at pulling off that whole otherworldly getting used to humanity thing. I think Jensen as the Castors from Orphan Black could have been interested! I'd also be interested to see how he holds up against Someone as strong as Tatiana Maslany. -

• The Frey's are dead! Go Arya for wiping out the entire house! "Tell them Winter came for House Frey". The shot of her walking through the room of dead bodies... Epic! • The white walkers and the corpses of the falling including Wun Wun was absolutely chilling! • Lyanna Mormont is consistently brilliant! I loved the way she put Lord Glover down. • And so the tension between Jon and Sansa begins! I can't wait to see where this goes! Jon is seriously underestimating her IMO. She is also correct to advise him to not underestimate Cersei. Jon's arrogance may prove to be his downfall. • "So here I am with a thousand ships and two good hands". The look on Jamie's face was priceless :D . Well played Euron well played. My guess is he intends to return with the head of Daenary's or another enemy of Cersei. He seems the type to consider such a gesture as an act of devotion. • The Maester's library is absolutely stunning! One of the best sets of its type I've seen on television <3. • Sam you badass! He has grown from the boy who was afraid of his own shadow. • Ed Sheernan and his jolly men seem like a genuinely nice group of boys! What an odd thing for the Game of Thrones verse. Although I was a bit disappointed that • "Where the wall meets the sea there is a castle". Where exactly is the hound talking about? • DANY IS HOME! YES, YES, YES!

This episode is one of my all time favorites of the entire show and probably my favourite of season 4! I still have Jump the Shark to Lucifer Rising left of this rewatch before I decide for definite ;). In my opinion this is one of the best episodes for both advancing the plot and granting emotional / personal moments to the main characters involved in it. The scene where Alastair reveals Dean's decision to accept his offer and torture in hell was absolutely phenomenal. The way he gleefully revealed what Dean had done and the masterful response from Jensen as Dean tries to process just what he had done. First class acting from both! Surprise, surprise I also positively adored the way Misha played Castiel in this episode. He perfectly portrayed the nuances of the self-doubt the angel was feeling. The conflict between feeling doubts about the legitimacy of the orders they were following and the desire to not be associated with Anna who had committed the greatest sin known to angels. Then there was the reveal of Sam drinking the demon blood and what that meant for the character and his arc. All in all its a wonderful episode for me. My only nitpicks are that Genevieve's acting during the blood drinking scene

I've never been a big fan of the meta episodes, so it probably isn't surprising that I generally found the first half of the episode to be a rather dull. However, for me at least, the second half of the episode (from Sam's discussion with Chuck about his use of demon blood on) is much stronger and one of my favourite parts of season four. I found the discussion between Sam and Chuck about the youngest Winchester's motivation to be a rather interesting one. IMO there are elements of both motivations given which are driving Sam throughout season four. What Chuck says to Sam "Maybe the demon blood makes you feel stronger? More in control" makes sense in light of the events of season three and the four months between them. Throughout the course of season three Sam was made to feel powerless and impotent. His brother was destined to go to hell and there was nothing he could do about it. This helplessness was further compounded by his ultimate failure and being forced to watch as Dean was literally torn to shreds before his eyes. This was then followed by a period of grieving and further feelings of being powerless as nothing he tried would bring Dean back. In light of those events, I think it was only human for Sam to enjoy the feeling of power that came with consuming the demon blood and developing psychic abilities. Finally, he was able to do something he could consider useful! He was able to fight back against the demons, he was able to hold his own against beings like Alastair even the angels couldn't deal with! IMO going from utter helplessness to that level of power in a short period of time led to a natural arrogance and hubris. Suddenly Sam had the power and it made sense to him that he'd be the one who could stop Lilith! That he was the one who was needed to stop the apocalypse. However, while his behaviour was twisted by hubris and a power high I also believe that Sam held a genuine worry about Dean and his capabilities. Dean had been changed by his experiences in hell. He was no longer as confident as before, he was more hesitant and had himself expressed, on multiple occasions, doubts about his ability to carry the burden on his shoulder. While Sam's hubris and power high may have made him more unsympathetic and colder to Dean's plight than normal I do believe even under normal circumstances, in this context, he would have worried about the stress Dean was under and tried to relieve him of it. So ultimately I think Sam both genuinely believed he needed to help Dean who was suffering from hell PTSD, but he also enjoyed the feeling of power and control the demon blood and his powers provided. On another note about that discussion, watching Chuck's "that seems to be where the story is headed" with the knowledge I loved the scene between Castiel and Dean in the hotel's parking lot! The chemistry between Misha and Jensen here was sizzling, and I adored the way Castiel "mentions" the fact that an archangel will always come and protect a prophet in their hour of need. Although he expressed his doubts back in On the Head of a Pin, this is the very first time he actively makes a suggestion that goes against heaven's agenda! Get you Castiel, you sassy little rebel here! I just love Misha's expression as he is explaining this to Dean. It's totally "I'm trying to tell you something important here dumbass" hahaha. Everytime I watch this episode I can never decide if this is some sort of elaborate test or the deal was a genuine "crisis of faith" on Lilith's part. What do you guys think? On the one hand I can understand her not wanting to die, but on the other hand if she was genuine why didn't she just say What do you guys think?

Honestly, whether it's both brothers taking over the storyline or just Sam makes little difference to me. Either way it has the same result i.e Castiel's primary arc has been taken from him and given to another character leaving him without any part in the upcoming plots. I'm more glass half empty! Based on the history of the show itself and Dabb in particular I'm now expecting Jack to be a force of good! On this show, the Winchesters are never allowed to be wrong (unless it's a Winchester vs Winchester conflict in which Dean is always right) and Castiel is certainly never right. Therefore, the parental role is gonna shift to the brothers! The narrative will rewrite history and ignore the fact it was Cas who fought for Jack to be born powers intact and focus on how wonderful, caring and understanding Sam and Dean are to have allowed him to keep his powers and ultimately meet his potential. I'm fairly certain if they intended to make Jack evil they'd have kept the storyline focused on Cas as another example of what a screw up the writers consider him.
