Henry wants something beyond the life of his parents. He thinks they are boring. He's also into technology so the Soviet equivalent of Q might work well too. I think they have plans for Henry but they are playing a long game with him and will not approach him until later in life. I think the Centre knows all about Henry, especially his interest in the FBI and now that's going to this fancy school. They are probably waiting to see where it leads. They don't want to spook him too early and mess up his life. There will be plenty of time for that later. Henry is going to be a far more desirable target. I agree and think there's an element of misdirection. While the Centre is putting so much time and energy on Paige and making them think she is the one being groomed, they are also going to go after Henry, but in a totally different way without Philip and Elizabeth knowing. Now that he's at boarding school, there could be a teacher there who's recuiting. I don't think that was there plan for Henry from the start, but based on what has happened, that would be my guess of how they would try to get to him. Maybe the Centre realized that going after the 2nd generation as young teenagers wasn't the best way and decided to wait until they were older.

S01.E16: Killer Asteroids, Oklahoma, and a Frizzy Hair Machine
Sarah 103 replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in Young Sheldon
Child actors are not usually cast for their acting ability but for thier presence/vibe and ability to follow directions as well as stay focused. Many child actors miss out on typical life experiences, common problems, or situations. Adult actors who have gone through them draw on them later in thier career, but child actors who never had them cannot. -
The difference is Jamie isn't sure what he wants. He seems to go back and forth. I can't tell if that's the character being undecided or the writers having continuity issues. The undercover officer in the episode had a very clear idea of what he wanted and what he did not want.

I think Marjorie needs to talk to Christy about how to be a good sponsor and how to help people without letting it take over your own life. I love the interaction between Patrick and Adam. They really feel like brothers.

I'm curious how do you see Henry saving the day? It's an interesting idea and I would like to hear more about it. I agree with you. Henry was the one who not only sensed danger with the man who picked them up while hitch-hiking but also took action to get them out of a dangerous situation. For weeks (if not longer) he was able to break into a neighbor's house to play video games. I really want Oleg to come through this safe and sound. After all, he has to be there to fight crime alongside Stan and Henry in my hypothetical spin-off. Henry still does the tech/computer stuff, and now they can get missions/assignments through all of Henry's boarding school connections. The three of them will be like a cross between the Pheonix Foundation and the A-Team.

That's a brilliant idea. I hadn't even thought of that. It wouldn't work on a show like this. You would need to do massive time jumps between seasons, but I love the idea of this for a movie. This would have been brilliant. It also would have totally worked with Henry. He thought his parents were boring but that Stan's job was super cool. That's true. I'm kind of dissapointed. I wanted to see if Henry would ever get suspicious, how his investigation would be different from Paige's, and how his reaction to finding out/figuring it out on his own would differ from Paige's. The Berlin Wall comes down in 89 and the Soviet Union collapses in the early 1990s. I think travel agenency were still viable until the early 2000s when the internet and e-commerce really started to take off in a big way. There's almost an entire decade, maybe closer to 15 years, (1990-2005).

She was in the bathroom. As far as I know, bathrooms in commercial airplanes during the 1980s did not have cameras. It's not like she was checking it out in her seat or the airport.
-
This is pretty much my theory too. I don't think the USSR planned for him to go the boarding school, but once they found out, they started making plans for him. He is part of a long game. That's pretty much the reaction I had. They think she's pretty much a typical college student. The influence of MTV and Miami Vice on television and popular culture is massive. It wasn't just a blip in the 1980s, but instead was a lasting impact which caused dramatic change. There is editing before MTV and editing after MTV.

Agreed. He looked happy and goofy. Paige and Henry would have been so embarassed if they saw him. I thought that was the plan too, although based on her line about the freshman dorms being past tense, she is already at least a sophmore in college. Very happy to see Oleg, could have done without the neck beard. I thought what he had was a carphone. My parents both had carphones when I was growing up. The carphone was stuck in the car, you couldn't remove it like you could with the big breifcase early cellphones. In honeytrapping she will have the power, she will be the one in control. At least that's my guess I agree. You would think they would want her involved in campus life and spending time with her peers/classmates because some of them are eventually going to be become important people in government and industry. What do you mean your Oleg? He's mine. (just kidding-the wonderful thing about fantasy is that we can both have him) I agree that I want him to come through this okay and reasonably unharmed. Yes! It's totally Godfather. Henry is Michael. "I never wanted this for you," but like Michael, he has all the skills and would be amazing. I like that the private office is still stuck in the 1970s but clearly business has really taken off and Philip decided to make improvements. The outer office where most of the staff works reminded me of Michael Steadman's office as creative director of DAA (thirtysomething). They recuited the wrong kid. I'm surprised they didn't change course and say we'll go after Henry, but we're going to wait until he's older. My theory is that once he could devote his full time and energy to the travel agency it started to do much better. Staff figured it was because he know had to pay for private school tution and college tution. Philip was always interested in status symbols. He was the one who wanted the sports car. I agree. Philip isn't motivated by ideology. He wants to make the world better for his family and his people. Oleg wanted to figure out why the system wasn't working and improve it or fix it. I thought it was a carphone.

He drinks, but I don't know if I would call it a drinking problem. We have only seen him get drunk once. Aside from one slip up, he has never shown up to court, an big meeting, or something really important drunk or hungover. He likes to have a drink to relax, but it seems like he knows when to stop. That seems more like responsible drinking than a serious problem. Are there scenes/episodes I am forgetting?
-
I would like more small/low stakes episodes like this that are supposed to be silly fun.
-
I thought two hours but I was worried it might get bogged down and scenes would end up being too long to fit the run time. On the other hand, both series have done what were essentially two part finales even though they weren't always labled as such, so two hours could work. I figured you either left Sophie out as an oversight/accidently forgot about her or because you wanted to include her and couln't figure out how best to do so.

Love it. My problem with most fan-fics Leverage/Librarians crossovers that I have read is that it's just variations of the idea that Elliot and Jake look alike or are brothers. There's a lot more I wish people would do with the characters. @ChelseaNH-If you have found any that are something different from what I have described, post the links or send me a message. Yes. This would be awesome. I agree with this and would also add Ezekiel and Hardison geeking out over hacking and techie stuff. I imagine there would more than a few "That was you?" as each finds out about the other's greatest hacks. I don't see it happening that way. To some extent, Hardison and Jenkins are both inventors and like to tinker/play around with things. I think Haridison would be impressed with some of what Jenkins has created. I see Flynn getting on Nate's nerves pretty quickly. Flynn would just instantly rub Nate the wrong way. Later in the episode (which I think needs to be closer to 90 minutes) during a quiet moment when the two are talking Nate would give Flynn advice about how to lead a team. Also, Sophie and Baird talking about how hard it is to be the responsible one and keep everyone, especially the team leader (Nate and Flynn) under control.

The only reason to skip seeing the movie alone is if you feel uncomfortable (mainly for reasons of safety) being in the area of the movie theatre alone. I go to all sorts of movie alone all the time and it's not a big deal at all. I'm an adult. I've been to see Disney/Pixar movies alone and no one called the police. It's really not a big deal. Go the movie and enjoy it. It's a great movie.

I was happy with the way season four ended as a season finale, but it seems kind of a disappointing way to end the series. I would love a movie to wrap it all up and provide a more satisfying ending.

Perfect Strangers - General Discussion
Sarah 103 replied to Meredith Quill's topic in Perfect Strangers
I remember one summer this was on in reruns usually when I was having breakfast. During the school year breakfast was family time and we were not allowed to watch TV during breakfast. We didn't have a TV in the kitchen. During the summer we were not eating breakfast as a family and I was allowed to eat breakfast in front of the TV. My mother and I talked about it as Breakfast with Balki. Years later in college when meeting with a literature professor during office hours somehow this series came up in conversation. I have no idea how it happened, but he was impressed I knew the show. -

I loved Dimitri. I slept with stuffed animals so as a kid watching this in reruns it made me feel good to see an adult sleeping with a stuffed animal. -
You are correct. For most people being late is not a big deal. In high school most of my friends were good, responsible kids and not the type who were constantly late to class. That being said, everyone runs into traffic jams now and then. For Patty being on time clearly matters and is something she is proud of. Maybe her school is one of the ones what gives awards for that kind of thing and she wants to win. I thought they got back to the perfect release spot just in time to release the mosquitos. I'm rooting for Sly and Flo too. I don't think Walter and Flo is really a romantic thing. It feels very Three's Company to me. Everyone is misreading the situation and thinks something is happening when there's nothing there.
-
You are correct. Walter was essentially asking everyone on the team if they were free. If one of the team was available he would have gone with them. Since everyone else had plans he invited Florence. I can picture it going either way. Either Paige will be upset that he lied to her and went with Florence or she will be proud that he told a white lie to spare her feelings and instead found someone who wanted to go with him. As for the episode, I'm kind of dissapointed that Patty's first tardy wasn't something Scorpion related. I was hoping she would get caught up in their missions and that would be the reason for her first tardy. While she would be upset in the end she would decide it was worth it. I like that Sly can bounce back and forth between overgrown kid and responsible adult. I also think it was good that Toby and Happy were talking about how having a kid would change thier life and are starting to think and work through that.

I'm confused. Is the idea Paige joined the Navy and went to Annapolis? Even with TV Land rules in place, it's too hard to believe that someone at the Naval Academy would be able to balance the demands of the Academy and her secret life as a spy in training. The show always stays somewhat grounded in reality. There may be bits and peices you have to handwave and say "it's TV, just roll with it," but rarely an entire plot or storyline. Also, the sky isn't the limit. How quickly she advances and moves through the ranks is the limit. I also can't see Paige joining the military. I could see Henry joining the military.
-
I liked the creative team decided that gay teenagers deserved movies with gay leading characters that were just as unrealistic and fluffy as those directed at thier straight peers.
-
This is the part I did not understand and I was hoping someone would explain it. I do not understand military or police culture so I thought maybe I was missing something. I don't understand why lying about a military record is okay. Does that mean he's no longer on patrol but stuck in the precinct working a desk job? If that's the case, wouldn't it be great to give him the Rear Window plotline? He thinks he's seen/overheard something and needs to get someone to believe him? Edie takes on the role of Lisa Fremont, minus the fantastic dresses.
-
If they wanted him to sing during the show, the easiest thing to do would be Law School talent show. It can't be they were running short on time, because in my version of this it's still a subplot that doesn't impact the main storyline and is just a bit of fun.
-
I don't know but I always figured it was pre-law because she wanted to be lawyer.

According to the show would appear that sperm is only viable outside the body (even if it is in a protected container) for a short amount of time (a little under an hour). I am not a doctor, so this could totally be Hollywood/TV Land science designed to create a ticking clock and create a sense of urgency. I love bottle episodes/episodes that are contained in time and space (episodes that take place over a 24 hour period, one night, an hour, and you get the idea. I love "The One Where No One's Ready" from Friends) so this was perfect. I thought it was a great episode. I really hope Sly and Flo get together. They'd make a cute couple. Ralph knows enough about women that he can help. Even though he's Scorpion level genuis, I always think it's sweet when they find a remind us that he is Paige's son too.
