S01.E14: Potato Salad, a Broomstick, and Dad's Whiskey
Sarah 103 replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in Young Sheldon
Yeah, but I felt like there was quite a bit of set-up to get to that point. I want to see more time with them split up. In the version I want to see, the set-up would start at the breakfast table. Mary telling George, "Now remember, you promised you were going to take the boys ________." Instead of half the episode being set-up, you start off with the gender split from scene two after a scene of set-up. -

I love Missy and wish they would have more episodes like this one now and then with Missy and Sheldon at the center. What I liked is that Missy is developing some street sense as well as common sense. If Sheldon and Missy combined thier powers for good, they would be unstopable. They would be amazing at some type of quiz show. He'd know all the academic stuff, and she'd know all the pop culture stuff. Agreed. Missy is just amazing and I hope we get to see more of her. I'd love to see an episode split with George, Georgie and Sheldon off doing something, and then the other plotline would be Mary and Missy doing something else. It would make sense that George coaches football in the fall and teaches Phys Ed/Gym year round. It would be fantastic if they did an episode where Sheldon or Georgie has their father as a gym teacher. There is all sorts of potential for comedy or life lessons or both depending on where the writers wanted to go with it. -
I wonder if Christy can work for a year, study (with some type of prep course) retake the LSAT, and try to get into law school next year.

I agree with this. Firing her for a rookie mistake seemed a bit harsh. Punish her for the action and let the word go out among the rank and file that doing this gets you punished, but what happened seemed a little exterme. Where I thought the episode was going was rewritting the book. I could see Frank saying "If she was following procedure, maybe we need to take another look at the procedures. When was the last update?" Nicky's storyline didn't work as well for me as I had hoped. I sensed something was wrong when I saw that all of her co-workers were female. When her co-worker tried to warn her, Nicky should have figured that out. She's old enough to understand that type of code. (I made a similiar mistake in high school. Someone told me a guy I was interested in drinks a lot. I thought I was being told I couldn't depend on him for a ride home after parties. They were trying to tell me he was an alcoholic.) It's not her first year of college, she shouldn't have been that stupid.

I think it's a "no hits my little brother except me" type scenario. If anyone from outside the group insulted Paige, Cabe, or even Ralph, Toby, Sly, Happy and Walter would verbally demolish them for making that suggestion. When it's just the group of them, it would appear they do not.

If he's a psychiatrist then wouldn't he have some medical training? I thought psychiatrists went to regular med-school, then selected psychiatry as thier speciality. Someone who knows more about this should feel free to correct me/add other information. Serious question, does that apply to all questioning, or only questioning by police? Bull was there in a (for lack of a better term) expert medical capacity. I'm not a lawyer so I don't know all the ins and outs of how this works.

We know Cable is going to be caught trying to make her background check comeback clean. It will be interesting to see where she ends up after what happened.

I thought checking the cell phones at the door served two purposes. The first is that it lets Ralph play wingman for Sly and talk him up, because neither one has thier phone so they are more likely to talk to each other. I really want Sly and Flo to end up together and thought it was cute the way Ralph was trying to do for Sly what Sly did for him with Patty. I think Sly and Flo have a better shot. The second is that it explains the reason why the team can't call Ralph or Flo for help when they need it.

The Annual Westminster Dog Show - General Discussion

Watching the border collie on Tuesday I thought, "He looks like he's plotting global domination. Not that he'd do it, but he's thinking about it and creating a plan." -
Klinger wanted to get out of the military, but when the situation called for it, he would do what was needed to save lives or help his friends. As much as he wanted a Section 8, I always got the sense he would never hurt someone to get it. It was like there was a line he would not cross.

I love the episode "Fallen Idol." The episode where Radar wants the man who thinks he is Jesus to bless Radar's teddy bear is so touching. Radar was always one of my favorites.

What I liked about Potter was that due to his decades in the military, there was little he hadn't seen before. Whatever happened, there was a been there, done that, know how to deal with this type attitude. He was also more experienced medically, so while there where some things that were new to him, for the most part he knew what he was doing. I always got the sense that Henry Blake had only slightly more medical experience than the other doctors.

During the Christmas episode when they're operating on the soldier and Hawkeye wants to fake the time of death, I've often wonderded what the character was thinking at that moment. She mentions she's never falsified a record before, but Hawkeye and BJ don't have to work very hard to convince her to go along with putting December 26th on the form.

The Annual Westminster Dog Show - General Discussion

That was one of my favorite parts of the show this year. I also liked Bean begging. When it came to Best in Show, I was rooting for the Boarder Collie. -
Taking a dip in the shallow end of the pool: The Hustler, because it's in black and white, cannot do justice to Paul Newman's eyes. On the other hand, there is a very long scene where he's wearing a tight undershirt, so it has that. In The Color of Money at the start, Newman is wearing a gray suit with a hint of blue that really brings out his eyes. Getting out of the shallow end. Newman won the Oscar for The Color of Money but he really should have won for The Hustler. His performance in the first movie is better. In The Color of Money it's great fun to watch Newman get exasperated at Cruise's character. I do love the change that comes over Newman at the end.

Yes! When reading about Han Solo, the character is almost always compared to the charactes played by Humphry Bogart and James Dean. I don't see James Dean. The characters played by Dean had a longing, a vulnerability, a desire to belong, that Han Solo doesn't have. I can see Bogart in spades (no pun intended). I can see that world-weary, knocked around, cynical view that's so clearly in both Han Solo and many of Bogart's roles. Han's character arc in A New Hope is Rick from Casablanca. We're seeing the character we know and love form. The pilot we see in A New Hope wouldn't look worried at that point and we wouldn't see the bravado crack. I'm an unabashed excited fangirl for this. If people want to pre-judge the movie and hate on it, that's cool. I'll just sit here and eagerly anticipate the new movie.

Unless it's a Jumanji type situation where they are sucked into the world of the game. That could be fun to watch for an episode, but not an entire season.

S04.E12: And the Echoes of Memory
Sarah 103 replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in The Librarians [V]
Which is why as @johntfs and @KirkB said, Jenkins and/or Flynn would tell Nicole you have to allow things to happen as they did before in order to keep the timeline in tact. You still need the personal development/character growth to happen. It may happen slightly differently without Nicole, but most of it still happens. -
I am almost sure the characters debated mandatory minimums at some point, but I can't remember which episode. It's also possible that I am confusing this series with another TV series from the same era. Was there ever an episode of L.A Law that dealt with this issue? Thanks to anyone who can help.

S04.E12: And the Echoes of Memory
Sarah 103 replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in The Librarians [V]
I agree with this. The clipping book is still going to send them on the same missions. Instead of Baird sending them to the retreat because they need to do some team building, the clipping book sends them because of strange things that have been happening. That mission could still play out, just slightly differently. As far as I am concerned, the only things that didn't happen this time around were Nicole being evil, so any episode that centered on Nicole being evil and messing with the library or the libraians didn't happen. Also, if you think about time travel plotlines too much, your head starts to hurt (or at least mine does). One more thing I forgot to mention, I loved that "We're the Librarians" (complete with musical sting) finally worked for someone other than Flynn. -

Baird is thier protector. When they were sitting in the circle trying to manifest the library, although I don't think they explicitly said it, the lions were used to represent her. I saw the lions as guardians and protectors. She is the one looking out for them, the way the lions look they are standing guard over all of the artifacts. I think he still could meet Jeff. My theory (which others have suggested as well) is that only the cases that Nicole had a direct influence changed. The adventures with Jeff and any other episode that did not focus on Nicole could still happen. I agree with this part. Jeff having the magic book had nothing to do with Nicole. The clipping book still would have sent them to the town called Feud, and the list goes on. -
I recently watched the episode where Connie Chung shows up after Murphy Brown guests stars on a sitcom and there's one thing I really wished the episode had included. I kept yelling at my TV set for Murphy Brown to defend herself by saying "Walter Cronkite had a walk on appearance in The Mary Tyler Moore Show" and it didn't happen. It would have been so perfect.

We do not know whether or not the show is coming back. If we get a Season 5, what would you like to see? What characters would you like to see again? What storylines would you like to see? I would love to see a bottle episode (minimal guest cast, no new sets) where the librarians are trapped in the Library and have to solve puzzles to defeat whatever magical power or person is behind it.

S04.E10: And Some Dude Named Jeff
Sarah 103 replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in The Librarians [V]
I'd love to see them have to do a magical "clear my name" type scenario. DOSA would be blaming them for something they didn't do, so they would have to figure out who or what was behind it. -
I wonder if they were just introducing her and will her use again later. She could help or hinder and they may play it differently in later episodes. This to me seemed like they wanted to introduce the character, but they really couldn't figure out quite what to do with her.
