  1. Am I the only one who loved the scene with Jamie and Frank? It was Frank training Jamie to take over someday. As much as Jamie says he doesn't want the job, even Frank admits that Jamie would be great at it.
  2. I agree. A crossover can occur between two shows that previously independent and unconnected from each other. To me, a crossover is an all encompassing term that covers when characters from one show interact with characters from another show regardless of whether or not a prior connection to the shows existed. It covers spin-offs and previously unconnected series.
  3. I KNOW! The heat, the intensity, the way David looked at Maddie until that moment. Major smoldering. (I realize this is about Moonlighting and off topic. Apologies for that). I had a different take on Mei in that scene. I agree with you that has zero intention of becoming a wife and stepmother. I think she has no idea how to tell them she is going to have an abortion. It would be illegal, but based on all of her medical connections, it would be as safe as possible under the circumstances. Between those scenes in Miami and the scenes in the hotel room, nothing was going to live up to expectations.
  4. I love the movie. I think it is a modern classic and an iconic team movie. I understand that the movie needed to be rated PG-13. I know that the MPA gives a harsher rating to same-sex kissing/sexual situations. That being said, it always bothered me that Damien is gay, but we never see or hear any evidence of a love-life. I would have been satisfied with a mention of a recent break-up, a boyfriend at another school, a crush, or something similar.
  5. I think the reverse of a back-door pilot would probably be a crossover. You have series X, which has an episode that introduces new characters in a familiar enviornment or the existing character in a totally new enviornment meeting different people. If the new characters get a show of thier own, that would be a spin-off (Series y). If the characters from series X appear again on series Y after getting thier own show, or (vice versa), it's a crossover. After Laverne and Shirley was on, if Fonzie visited Laverne and Shirley in an episode of thier show, or Laverne and Shirley made another appearance on Happy Days, either scenario would be a crossover.
  6. I don't think he was married in 1960. He talks about his divorce, not his second wife. So at this point in 1960 he is divorced and single. Smoldering is an excellent word for Lenny and Midge, especially the way he looks at her. The problem is Lenny and Midge have chemistry, but a relationship wouldn't work. Lenny knows that.
  7. Reba could be part of the Connie spin-off Geezer Bus (it's a working title). Missy could be part of the series too. She has excellent bussiness sense. She could come up with sales/promotions.
  8. I agree with you. As you can tell from my earlier posts, I didn't realize it was supposed to be Jackie. I rewatched part of the scene, and knowing it's supposed to be her, I could kind of see it, but I obviously didn't pick up on that during my first viewing. I think the pink wool dress was part of how we were supposed to know it was her. @Suzn How is Rose being hypnotized an anachronism? I thought stage hypnosis for entertainment already existed by 1960.
  9. Once I heard season five was the end, I breathed a sigh of relief, because this show hasn't been doing massive time jumps. The series is going to end before things get really awful for Lenny. I was happy with it. Lenny got his wish-one night with her before he died. I don't think Lenny ever wanted a real long term romance, just one night. Luke Kirby was amazing in this episode. I loved the way he looked at Midge in the hotel room. It made me melt a little. He deserves an Emmy for his moment on stage with her alone. He finally realized that she was idealizing/idolizing him in a way that wasn't good or healthy. He let her have it. He told everything she needed to hear whether she wanted to hear it or not. I just hope she listens and takes his advice. Maybe people were expecting something more like this (in this scene, someone is slapped-just a warning for people who care about that sort of thing):
  10. What impressed me was that the physicality and the vocal delivery were an almost perfect match for Midge. I'm kind of surprised she was able to do the act from memory having only seen it once, but I'm to chalk that one up to "it's television, just roll with it/accept it." I'm dissapointed we didn't get more of Noah this season. I want to see more scenes with just the two of them. I want a better understanding of what thier relationship is like now and what it was like when they were younger. Before JFK became president, Jackie almost left him because she couldn't take all of the affairs/fooling around. Joe (JFK's father) told her that was not an option and to ask for anything she wanted/needed to make the marriage work. I'm confused about something. I thought the lunch was a fundraiser, but that no actual members of the Kennedy family were there. Did I miss something?
  11. YES! I totally agree with this and was trying to find a way to say something very similar to this. You did a far better job and in fewer words than I could have.
  12. For me, those scenes were the best part of the episode. I love seeing Missy and Georgie interact. It was wonderul that Georgie didn't ask for a cut of the profits because he came up with the idea of charging for the cotton candy. He was just being an awesome older brother. We discover that Missy has a hiddent talent for bussiness. After reading "Oooo! Oooo!" I mentally filled in "Mr. Kotter, Mr. Kotter." (I spent a significant part of my childhood watching syndicated reruns/Nick at Nite).
  13. I don't think it's related to Bull. I think it's classic/basic TVLand logic at work.
  14. I love that all three grown children (and yes I am including Al in that) called Lois trying to get her to convince Art to see a doctor. I'm guessing the order was Al, Lizzie, Riley. I think that Hazel could have been told sooner, but I am glad Lizzie did eventually tell her the truth.
  15. Part of the problem was that when Reggie told Midge to talk about Shy, Reggie did not know that Midge was aware that Shy was homosexual, and was not prepared for nor expecting the kind of jokes she would tell.
  16. I totally agree and have had a version of this theory about the end of the series for years. Young Sheldon has been renewed through season 7. This will be around the time Sheldon leaves home/Texas to further his education. The series ends when Sheldon is no longer living at home. Most of the really awful stuff happens after Sheldon leaves home (the break-up of the marriage, Sheldon catching his father cheating, so I doubt we're going to see any of that on this series).
  17. THANK YOU! That is the episode I was looking for. (1.4 "Pryor Knowledge") This is one of the many reasons why I love the internet and the Primetimer message boards.
  18. That is something I found rather amusing. The mob's big concern was whether or not the club was making money and whether or not the club owner could pay the mob what he owed. Who was buying the drinks and what kind of drinks they were buying was almost irrelevant. As long as the club was earning money, that was the most important thing to the mob.
  19. Begin Rant- Dolly Parton is not Rock and Roll. She is pure country. She belongs in the Country Hall of Fame, not the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Also, how is Carly Simon not yet in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? -Rant Over Here is the link to vote for inductees. https://vote.rockhall.com/en/
  20. Based on what I remember from an earlier discussion on this board, (it was an episode earlier in this story-arc,) it is technically legal. Georgie is 17, which is/was the age of consent. So legal, but also a bit icky because he is not being honest about his age and there is massive difference in terms of maturity and life experience between 17 and 27 (or however old she is). I would feel the same way if a 17-year-old girl was concealing her age to sleep with a 27 year-old-man.
  21. I agree with you on that one. The cars are so pretty.
  22. Yet another reason to be sorry Hollywood gave up mid-budget movies. That was the sweet spot. They had the kind of writing, directing and performances that would sometimes get nominated for the Oscars, but also had wide appeal and were seen by a vast number of the movie-going public, movies like Raiders of the Lost Ark, The Sting, The Fugative, When Harry Met Sally. These movies are no longer made by studios because they can make far more money with large franchise driven blockbusters.
  23. If IMDB still had the "I Need to Know Message Board," that's where I would post this question, but since that no longer exists, I could not seem to find a better place on this site to post it. My Question: In Season 1 of American Dreams there was a scene where Meg teaches JJ to dance, or at least helps him practice dancing before going to a dance to Beth. If anyone who watched this series can give me the episode title, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks to anyone who can help. (Mods, if you want to move this post to another forum, please feel to do so).
  24. THANK YOU! That is the episode. If I could have marked your response useful and liked I would have used both. This is one of the reasons why I love the internet Primetimer/TV message boards. I can post something vague, and someone will be able to tell me the name of the episode I am looking for.
  25. That's Amy Sherman Palladino's style, which is distinctive. She's drawing from the old screwball comedies of the 1930s and 1940s.
