  1. I was surprised they aired some of those clips uncensored in the 2nd episode. I know FX uses “fuck” a lot in their dramas but it caught me off guard hearing it here. It’s still pretty rare for basic cable. (Not offended in any way, just surprised.)
  2. No clue for either of the past two FJs. The only “Rock of Ages” I’ve ever heard of is the Broadway musical. All I could think of for yesterday’s was The Canterbury Tales and I was trying to think if there was some novel that referenced “Canterbury.” For some reason I thought The Handmaids Tale was written much earlier like in the 60s so that never even occurred to me.
  3. I thought that wasn’t a bad guess if you’re trying to think of a band with a lead singer who goes by a nickname and has hits in the 1980s. I thought that was a hilarious answer. I knew it was Reagan, but I liked what he was thinking.
  4. I remember when the story was in the news. Ohio State always makes such a big deal about people always having to say “THE” when saying the name of the university. It’s so stupid (I say as a UM fan.)
  5. Same. I think because it’s always written lowercase I never knew “rap” was an acronym that stood for something. I thought it was just a slang term.
  6. So what are all these numerous allegations? I just keep seeing people posting about “someone said on Twitter” and “some unnamed person said this on Reddit.” Can someone just post a list here what he is accused of doing? All I have seen here is that he cheated on his wife with a co-worker, and then at some point cut the hours of said co-worker and was fired for an undisclosed reason. I mean, people are comparing him to child predators and rapists!
  7. Thank god S.A. did not win. Every time he spoke it sounded like someone was running the tape at 2x speed. Slow the fuck down!! Half his answers I couldn’t even understand because he said them so quickly.
  8. Wow did I read that clue wrong! 🤣I totally thought it was a future English king who also became king of Austria. It has nothing to do with England at all! 🤦‍♀️ And then when the answer was given I thought it was referring to the current English Charles… who of course wasn’t even alive in 1914. Whoops 😅
  9. That’s exactly what I was thinking. I knew that Charles II was king during the Great Fire of 1666 so figured they had to be talking about his father Charles I and sometime during the early 1600s. How can there be two Charles I’s? Wouldn’t this one be Charles III?
  10. I don’t see anything about people being “scared.” 🙄 Dont try to create some false “misogyny” narrative here. It just felt like a scene out of a totally different show. Suddenly Clarice is an action hero who can beat up two trained military men much larger than herself.
  11. And yet, all of the Asian chefs and judges on the show had no problem eating cheese, so the percentage of Asians on Top Chef who are lactose intolerant is zero. Hint: multiple whatever figure you like by 0. And I thought people were trying to be offended with the African food episode but JFC this takes the cake.
  12. Yeah. Her punching the guy in the previous episode was believable because he did not expect it. A sucker punch to the face can easily knock someone down. But this time she was physically fighting against two massive former military mercenary/bodyguard types and she kept getting in hard punches and kicks. That was total bullshit.
  13. I was so shocked none of them got FJ! I thought that was some incredibly obvious Kids Jeopardy-level stuff.
  14. What was she supposed to do, hold his hand and tell him he was really a good person after all and it would all be ok since now he feels bad about kidnapping, rape and murder? He was just as evil as his father! Earlier in the episode he nonchalantly asked “You rendered her?” with no emotion at all after seeing that one of the women he kidnapped was put into the meat grinder and wondered why they didn’t burn her instead. He got off easy committing suicide.
  15. The only one of those titles I knew was “Winter’s Bone” and that was because of the movie. No clue on any of the others. No clue for FJ tonight either. The only “Clarence” character that I could think of was from “It’s a Wonderful Life.”
  16. Put almost anyone, male or female, in the ring with Tyson and they would lose. I don’t know what that has to do with her being able to suckerpunch someone who wasn’t expecting it.
  17. I couldn’t remember if the Taft-Hartley Act was “Hartley” or “Huntley.” First thought was Hartley, then switched to Huntley. Doh! FJ was an instaget though.
  18. Present day. I suppose technically probably 2019, but there is no specific date.
  19. Aw I don’t know why Temple of Doom always gets so much hate, I love that one! It’s probably my favorite of the three because it’s just so much crazy over the top fun. I first saw it as a kid and loved the total creepy weirdness & horror of the dinner scene and the bug tunnel and the spiked-ceiling crushing room, and the roller-coaster mine ride. Raiders is the better film, but Temple is just fun. I love the first and last thirds of Last Crusade but I always think that one drags a lot and gets very slow in the middle with the whole castle in Germany/Berlin diary section. Crystal Skull, now that is just shit. That’s not fun in a ToD way, that’s just bad. I usually try to forget that even exists. Aliens, bad cgi, ugh. The franchise went from adventure fantasy to science-fiction.
  20. Instaget FJ for me tonight. I liked the middle guy so I was fine with him winning, though Katie was great too. I think Savannah thought Katie made up her FJ answer by the way she said “We’d all like to know that!”
  21. What’s the problem with Katie? I quite like her and hope she continues to do well. I always read “trough” as “trow” in my head, like it goes with that other thing on a farm, a plough. I used to always think that a “troff” was a totally different word. I didn’t notice anything about Savannah’s voice, she sounded perfectly fine. 🤷‍♀️ Add me as another who thought FJ was laissez faire, even though I thought, “Well that’s French, so they probably don’t mean that… but isn’t that what that term means so it has to be that?” Never would have come up with the Monroe Doctrine in 1000 years.
  22. This episode was better than the last few! Very tense, I knew Hudlin wouldn’t be the Big Bad, he never seemed like the one who was actually running everything, just the guy who’s called to get things done. I also like how Catherine’s story is at least tying into the main plot now, instead of being a completely separate entity. I like how the filmmakers are bringing in Demme’s style of close up faces looking straight into the camera. It’s not an angle often seen in movies/TV.
  23. Yes! I was expecting him to be docked the money when they came back from the break but I guess the judges didn’t catch it. They do seem sloppier than normal. “Miss” Maisel is a big mistake because her being a “Mrs” is a huge element of the plot. I immediately knew they wanted the singer of “Sittin on the Dock of the Bay” and was trying to remember if it was Marvin Gaye or Sam Cooke. 🙄🤦🏻
  24. I had no clue on FJ. Because “since the war” was in quotes I was trying to think of a two-word phrase from WWII that had to do with food. Verlinda answering without buzzing in was awkward! I’ve seen people speak before Alex called on them, but this was the first time I remember someone answering when someone else rang in first.
  25. I was rooting for Verlinda because she knew the UK TV shows! Doctor Who and Broadchurch, two of my faves! Though I also got Coupling, and for The Weakest Link question I knew it was Anne something. I dont know why Mayim seemed to struggle reading Olivia de Havilland, it was like she thought it was a made up name. Weird. I actually pre-guessed her but could not come up with the correct response.
