Heh. Can I just say that it's hard to develop a style when you're overweight and young? I remember when I got to be a 14/16, I pretty much dressed like a cross between big city attorney and preppy soccer mom. The only places with my size were the Gap and Banana Republic. I am way better now but it took experience and doggedness. ETA: I also only wear black and solid colors. Better to stick with what you know works.

It's very, very hard. I gained about 30 lbs in the last year when I was not very skinny to begin with, unless you really care about fashion -- it's difficult to find nice clothes in larger sizes. Especially fashionable, professional clothes!! Apparently designers don't think fat women work? Or that fat women need affordable work wear? Anyway, I have plus sized friends who have a LOT of time, energy, and money to devote to their clothes and they look great. Me, I just want to look contemporary, professional, and good enough. It's been an expensive journey and I don't look quite as good as I'd like to because I just don't have the energy to devote to it...If Catelynn, just doesn't want to devote a lot of time to her look, I understand why she looks frumpy. I honestly think it's a combination of her trying to look her definition of "respectable" and because she wants to be comfortable.

I am sorry about harping on this but I am annoyed by the fact that she didn't research her lie better. Does she really think the audience is that stupid? Or that other people simply lack curiosity of the world the way that she does.

Entertainment? I don't know of any reality stars that came to my university. I had better taste back 4 years ago and didn't watch reality TV but they definitely brought well known musicians and writers for concerts and readings. In my family it was a completely unsaid but well understood topic that I wasn't going to get pregnant and my brothers were not going to knock anyone up. I knew it was absolutely not an option. That being said, if it had happened, I think I would have sought out a legal abortion on my own... However, if I had been forced to tell my parents, I think they would have been supportive but very disappointed. In either case, it never happened because I never wanted to see that look in my parent's eyes. It would have broken their hearts in a way that I didn't want to deal with (in my later twenties, I still don't).

I find it hard to believe that anyone in college would have any respect for any of the Teen Moms. At least enough to think they are of educational value. I don't think they are there for actual 'educational purpose' more like entertainment. Hey! That girl from MTV is a speaker today, let's go take a picture with her!

Sometimes I feel like she just did a shallow search on conditions that impact infertility and just picked PCOS out of a bunch of them. I have PCOS and I, like most women with the condition, struggle with my weight on a daily basis. She's so thin. I am not saying that you can't be thin and have it-- it's just very uncommon. Also, she's woefully uninformed about PCOS for someone who claims to have it. I agree with everything you say but I still find it profoundly weird that these people are more williing to commit to having a child together than a life together. In my mind, having a baby automatically forces you to spend at least 18 years of your life interacting with each other in some way and that is a bigger commitment (to me, at least). Now, I know, that at this point Taylor/Tyler does not have a choice about having a baby with Maci but it amuses me that he's so unwilling to marry while he is so inextricably tied to her for the duration of his daughter's life. A wife, you can walk away from. A baby, not so much.

YES! I mean, I understand the reasoning that he should have used a condom but it seems like he and Maci were in a serious, monogamous, long term relationship. They were living together! I haven't been in a ton of relationships but I've had a couple where we stopped using condoms and I just went on a hormonal birth control... It was about trust. I never lied or bent the truth about my fertility. Shame on Maci if she did. This definitely wasn't a miracle baby, people with PCOS get pregnant all the time. I don't think Taylor is that dumb for trusting Maci... I hope most people trust their significant other whether they're married or not. I also don't understand the getting pregnant to save a relationship thing. IF your relationship isn't working now, it sure as hell isn't going to work with a baby as an additional stresser. Do you really want to go through whatever bullshit a guy/girl is putting you through with the additional tie of a baby? When I knew my marriage was ending, I was relieved we never had a child. I felt so lucky not to be bound to him in that way. This was a man I had been with for ten years, not two months like some of these kids.

She does have hustle and does unashamedly let her freak flag fly but Farrah is no feminist. I mean, she embraces the advances feminism has provided her, but she's the first person to tear down and look down on other women. Her comment on "only ugly girls" waiting on an engagement ring comes to mind.

Caitlyn Jenner: Call Me Caitlyn
evilmindatwork replied to Lisin's topic in Keeping Up With The Kardashians
I agree Brody and Brandon seem like total fame whores, at least when it suits their goals and purposes, but they also seem to not live their lives in public the way the Kardashians do. They try to control their message/ story and are unwilling to completely sell their souls... I can respect that. -
I don't know. I think they may have stayed together because the adoption had already bonded them in that way. I stayed together with my ex way past our expiry date because we had faced significant adversity together. That bonded us past the stage that we were "in love" with each other.

Sadly, she really could do better. Cate is worth 10 of Tyler. She's a little chubby (So what? Nowhere near repulsively so) but is level headed with a kind heart. It breaks my heart that she reproduced with him the second time. She could have been free post- Carly.

I mean Simon is no prize but if he has a traditional South Asian family, no way is he bringing Farrah home. I remember when I brought my decidedly non-South Asian, surfer boy ex home to my traditional family it was a huge event, even though he had a degree from an Ivy League university, was successful and had never starred in a nationally known pornography film... I still felt like I was disappointing them by going outside the community. To be fair though, if Simon's parents are conservative, they are probably not pleased with the fact that their son is dating a porn actress on national television. I doubt he has a good relationship with his family or is concerned about pleasing with them. Like attracts like. In any event, Simon seems like a terrible human being. Farrah really knows how to pick 'em. But I guess normal, decent dudes just wouldn't go for her

Caitlyn Jenner: Call Me Caitlyn
evilmindatwork replied to Lisin's topic in Keeping Up With The Kardashians
I think her original kids have a right to feel however they want about the abandonment. Why shouldn't they be bitter about a parent missing large portions of their life. I think Caitlyn is lucky they try to be in her life at all -
Well, I hope the producers are genuinely fond of them even if confused by the emotional dependence. I think Maci also has Kiki. Each producer has two girls, from what I understand. It's sad that Amber and Cate are so lonely that they think of these people as genuine friends. Really speaks to how lacking they are in a support system. I guess Maci is the luckiest of all the girls since she was raised by relatively level headed adults and seems to think of the MTV crew as colleagues rather than family.
-
Yeah, I got the impression that Maci is the only one to put money down on the house. I hope his name isn't on the deed. He only cared about his man cave. He basically bartered with her-- ring for a big house.

Only the Zen-est of zen personalities can deal with Amber and Farrah. In the same year, no less. I bet Heather meditates, practices yoga, and lives in the woods when she's not counseling Amber and cajoling Farrah. Hah. I think Cate aspires to be older, wiser, more sophisticated, and just plain middle class. I bet she picked that place and imagined it as somewhere that stable people with means go on vacation. Honestly, though, considering the kind of household she grew up in, I can understand why she's not into the party scene. I am in my twenties and if I am looking to get away for a couple of days, I usually just go camping. If I am traveling abroad, I'll stay in a hostel. But, my parents were also not meth heads and I was never homeless. Cate is probably always looking to do things the way "more stable" people do them. In her mind, stable people with "better lives" probably live like retirees.
-
Wow. He didn't even pay child support? I know she cheated on him but this does not make him sound like a good guy.
-
I bet she's well compensated and was hand-picked for the job. She has the two more "difficult" ones with Farrah and Amber. Cate and Maci are way more easy going so Heather is probably known for her ability to deal with morons. God knows I would be backpacking in the mountains for 3 weeks straight after dealing with the tantrums, probably explains the Patagonia jacket.
-
I feel so bad for Sophia. She seems like a bright little girl but Farrah obviously pays no attention to her whatsoever. That girl is destined to raise herself for the rest of her life unless Farrah has a personality transplant. Feral is right. I can't believe she seems to have sole responsibility for the dogs. If Farrah is so rich why doesn't she hire that poor child a nanny?

I think the writers are way more invested in Haley and Andy than the audience is. Will they, won't they does not work unless the audience cares about the outcome for the couple. In this case, I just don't care. Haley had such a good and hilarious match in Dylan. Why did they get rid of him? I really liked that actor. I know the Andy actor is well known and well liked in other shows he's been in but his character in MF just sucks the life out of every scene. He's an exaggerated Phil without any of Ty Burrell's charm.

Ugh. At some point you just have to accept that you're not a dog person and give up on having dogs. I just fly into a fit of rage whenever I see people neglecting helpless animals. But she's happy! She's in love! I was super annoyed by watching Tyler giving Cate a hard time about the decision to formula feed Nova. I know that it's a mutual decision but is there ANYTHING he doesn't nag her about?
-
Whoa. Kim is so terrible to Khloe. This, her behavior with Rob, and her tantrum about buying Kourtney a career, makes me think she has no relationship with her siblings outside of this show.
-
I missed the scene with the dogs. Was that when they were on their way to the airport? Is it the same French Bulldog she had in Florida?
-
Yikes. I would be terrified about what could happen to me if non-family members came through my window.

Caitlyn Jenner: Call Me Caitlyn
evilmindatwork replied to Lisin's topic in Keeping Up With The Kardashians
I understood it as Kris knew he liked to cross dress but did not know that he wanted to transition. Either way, I can understand that they were upset and shocked by his decision to transition NOW. Maybe they kinda/ sorta knew that he wanted to transition or struggled with that but assumed he never would.
