  1. I watched WWHL last night after the episode where Peter got demoted for sexual harassment. Andy Cohen made it sound like it was nothing, then proceeds with sexual “jokes” with Malia & (was it Rob?) IMO it was very inappropriate. I expected Better of Bravo. Maybe too much expectation.
  2. A friend of a friend was a psychologist who worked for an unnamed reality show. That psychologist quit when he/she realized that they were casting the ones with psychological problems. They wanted the narcissistic personality disorders, not the well adjusted people. This was several years ago...
  3. All employers now have either contracts or formal guidelines spelling out that they can hire/fire at will, or for a morals clause. Yes, moral & Bravo seem to be contradictory. But anything they get flack from, or effects their bottom line, they can use that clause. Many employers or even schools are looking at the employee/student online history, using it to exclude people. That “joke” from 10 years ago might just bite you. Even cleaned up, computer geeks can restore.
  4. Other networks pay x amount per show. If they aren’t shown, they don’t get paid. So editing him out, he doesn’t get a check. They usually have a morals clause that allow them to fire them for cause. That picture was cause for sure.
  5. Sounds as sincere as Asston’s apology, “4 minute ...with tears in his eyes”. I don’t think just stopping drinking this month, starting therapy this week is proof of his sincerity. Clueless men, both of them. Think pretty words mean much once you’ve seen how little it matters to them. Equate laundry with sexual assault. No, I don’t think Asston was sincere, nor do I think Andy was either. Both just don’t like how they are perceived by others.
  6. I would hope that in future, Lee would add a provision that he approves crew, has the right to fire them for cause. I hope stews will also put in their contracts a safety clause. I like the idea that they be chaperoned by the Captain, alcohol limited. The Captain and Kate stressed that in the yacht industry, the clients were paying for a luxury trip. They don’t need the bs this deck crew, or a “chef” who can’t check his ego, not looking at all preferences of the guests. PURE SPECULATION: Do you think Kate was given a job/payout by Bravo for not pushing the issue re assault by Asston? She was either too numb to be angry or has the patience of a saint (not likely) in how level her responses were. I know I would have responded to Asston in a nuclear Rhylee manner. I hope that Bravo realizes the backlash with the misogynistic crew and Andy. I hope they are able to change this, starting with firing Andy. Or at least “educating him”. Make him watch the behavior of the crew over & over. I have watched some of BD Sailing, find this more of the same bs. Not worth my time.
  7. First, I’d like to check like for most all of the previous posts, but my iPad will not let me. So add a heart to most all of you. My takeaway from part 2: The guys, especially Asston, only regret that their behavior has been shown to the world. They don’t think what they did was wrong. All of them have the bs apology down pat, made all the more insincere by the “but she said...” Blame the victim, they aren’t responsible for their behavior because... Most of the male crew admitted to drunken blackouts. Even those who didn’t have blackouts showed a drinking problem. They are all assholes, but Asston & Kevin lead the shit list. Asston “quitting drinking” (in January) and starting therapy (last week) were all done not because of his realization that he has some serious problems, but that a pr person told him he needed to do both. Sexual assault & threatening violence, bullying female staff isn’t seen as a problem. Pretty boy insincere apologies are just bs. Kevin has a definite problem with drinking, as well as a hatred of women. Tanner & Brian are not much better. If I had the resources to hire a yacht like that, I’d demand that those 4 not be on the crew. I wouldn’t trust their behavior. Andy disappointed me. He thinks this is one big joke. What I saw was not a joke, but very real problems. If this is Bravo’s pr line, I can say I am sincerely disappointed. I’d watch the next season only if this crew wasn’t there, Captain Lee was there and the production crew notified him of problematic behavior in real time.
  8. When Ashton was on WWHL last week, he said he’d stopped drinking and was “working on” his behavior. When asked if that meant he was in therapy, he gave bs about you having to “know yourself”. Sounds like the bs he gives the Captain. But most of all bs he tells himself. After watching his behavior, I would hope no one ever hires him in a supervisory role. Even as a third deckhand. Kevin was on WWHL last night. When asked how he would feel if men treated his daughter like they did to Kate & Rhylee. He replied “first I wouldn’t raise my daughter to be a bitch...” or a version to that effect. He showed absolutely no awareness of his behavior. He thinks he didn’t do anything wrong, everything is Kate’s fault. He’s another who shows no awareness. As he was talking the bravo polls on team Kate v Ashton & the bro’s was about 90% for Kate. All the bros were in the audience, showing the same cluelessness. They still feel it’s all the women’s fault. They were “bitches”. I hope they finally realize what they did. If Bravo brings any of these assholes back, I’m out. I still think the Captain should’ve been notified by production immediately after Asston’s behavior with Kate. IIRC, Kevin went to an associate degree. He acts like he’s Cordon Bleu chef. But I think he’s in over his head. He may have some talent but he’s lazy with that “talent”. Kate from minute one didn’t bow to him. That’s where his hatred of Kate starts. He was asked on WWHL why he didn’t read the preference sheet. He started blubbering but said that it was at least 8 pages. Essentially admitted to not reading preference sheet.
  9. IIRC, Phyllis was trying to “compromise “ Kyle to break up his relationship with Summer, when she thought they were brother/sister.
  10. I’m having difficulty “liking” posts, but I have agreed wholeheartedly with many of you. Yes, Kate seems to be a “stuck up” “bitch” but even if she were, it is no excuse for the male crew’s behavior. Stop blaming the “victim”. Stop excusing criminal behavior. Regarding Kate’s actions with Simone: Simone is constantly seen on the phone with her mother, bitching about Kate, giving a slightly different twist to her comments. Since the crew quarters seem so cramped, does Kate hear all of Simone’s calls to mommy? Coupled with her poor service, Simone’s crying to mommy is another slap in the face to Kate. It seems like other than Rylee and possibly Courtney, Kate has no friends among the crew. So she “hangs out” with the Captain, a safe male. Kate seems to be a “nanny” to the crew when they are out in public & are too drunk to pay bar bills etc. Regarding Ashton: NOTHING excuses his behavior. His behavior was not just “TV”. There was real hatred, violence & vitriol there. I wonder if his trying to fire Rylee is in part her support of Kate. Ashton is guilty of sexual assault and his behavior should have gotten him fired immediately. Then blacklisted. He still doesn’t get it. His interviews give the usual bs “working on improving...” but not acknowledging any wrongdoing. Same with Tanner. My husband comments on my watching BD, saying I’m watching the “eye candy”. He doesn’t watch but I’ve told him of the men’s behavior. I’ve said pretty is as pretty does. Ashton, Tanner & Kevin are ugly as sin in my eyes, based on their character, or lack there of. I’d add in Brian among the ugly men, but I tend to forget he exists...
  11. I was disappointed in this episode (& with WWH afterward). I was hoping they would address the issues of Smashton and the negative behaviors of the male crew. (But I don’t think the female crew are perfect, just not guilty of sexual assault...) Lee should have been shown the Smashton clips. Kate stated to that production person that she felt unsafe. But she should have left a note for the captain, telling him why she left. If asshat Smashton (or even Ashton) returns next season, I think I’ll check out of BD. I’d prefer all the male crew be blackballed from yachting. The female crew is another story. I think Kate just let things build up. She hears everyone saying how much a bitch she is, how they hate her. Smashton instigated much of this. Kate, in an interview was asked why she didn’t tell the captain. She responded with a little laugh, that she thought she was having Stockholm syndrome. That might be a bit of an exaggeration but it has a germ of truth. She hears all the male crew and her two stews talking about how much of a bitch she is. Rylee is seen comforting her crying at least twice. She hasn’t trained her stews but they really aren’t willing to take direction. She (& Ashton) had no choice in who was hired. Lee even said that crew had to audition via Skype, but he didn’t. I bet that these stews (and trashy deck crew) were productions’ choice because of these negative qualities. Regarding Kate’s “resting bitch face”: does anyone know if she’s had Botox? She doesn’t really show emotion until she’s pushed past her limits, then it’s tears, but no change in facial expression. Those drunken outings are not for everyone. I don’t think I’ve seen Kate happy once this season during these outings. I think they should be optional. But most of all, they need to find deck crew with morals. Not angels, but at least respect for coworkers. OK, now Rylee. I think that Ashton quickly learned how to push her buttons. And she responded how he wanted her to. I think she was too sympathetic to Kate, so Ashton had to find ways to undermine her. I would love have Kate keep her as a stew if Asshole gets his way to fire her. At least for 6 more days...
  12. I suspect Ashton will escape any punishment for his behavior. My guess is that he’ll deflect everything to Rylee. Anyone but himself or his male crew. “Smashton” can’t remember what he did the night before. He drunkenly cannonballs destroying dj equipment. He gets violent, repeatedly talks shit about Kate, saying repeatedly to all crew that she is a “bitch” and gets away with murder. I think pot : kettle. Only Kate doesn’t sabotage him, he does that great all by himself. The blackouts say he has a alcohol/substance abuse problem. His violent behavior says he might have mommy issues. i think Kate and Ashton’s “leadership” deficiencies are similar. Kate doesn’t teach her less experienced crew, Ashton doesn’t train his female crew. But Kate doesn’t berate him to his crew, something that Ashton has repeatedly done. Kate is left with all everyone hating/blaming her. Look at Kevin, he blames her for his mistakes, he not looking at the preference sheet for each passenger. Then everyone is blaming Kate, falling in behind Ashton’s “she’s an entitled bitch.” I was very disappointed in Bravo’s dealing with this. I do think Captain Lee should have known about Smashton in real time, firing him or sending him to rehab. i know Kate isn’t perfect, but she is the more professional. Smashton is not at all professional. One thing that was said at least once but not emphasized is Kate saying she didn’t feel safe around Ashton while back on the boat.
  13. According to my memory, this is Billy’s second attempt on Adam’s life. Back when Sage & what’s his name went to rescue Adam & Billy from the burning car etc. Billy was guilty of kidnapping and attempted murder of Adam. He had him at gunpoint, shot him, then left him to die in a burning car. To make matters worse, he left an “innocent” man to die in that car. (Of course Sage brought Adam home to impersonate her crispy critter...) So to my very armchair “legal expertise” that means Billy was guilty of kidnapping, attempted murder, leaving the scene of a deadly crash as well as manslaughter/murder of Sage’s crispy critter. Now he is again guilty of at least attempted murder of Billy, if Chloe is killed or injured, attempted murder/manslaughter of her. When Chloe is the sanest one, it’s a sad day. and where is Paul? And Christine? I know she isn’t the DA but she’d still be in town. Are they writing them out or what?
  14. Don’t forget that Victor gaslighted Sharon as well. He hired someone at Newman to sabotage her meds, he hired Mariah to gaslight Sharon etc. Apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, but I don’t hear GC saying how evil Victor is. Everything is real-time...
  15. All this confirms my version: if it was “real” life, Ashley would never be pregnant, but a hysterical pregnancy more likely. Even if she was pregnant, she was showing signs of losing the baby from the beginning. But Victor just danced off, no nurses etc to monitor her. Also the history of psychological problems related to pregnancy. If Adam is so guilty then Victor is also guilty of neglect for leaving a medically and psychologically fragile wife alone, without nurses.
  16. All the dumb blondes, I can’t tell them apart, lol. But Adam told to just “get over it” while every fart confirms Adam’s evil.
  17. Even if she didn’t have a hysterectomy, she was a high risk menopausal age woman with complications showing early on. Leaving her with Adam was like leaving a murderer with a pesky tired 2 year old: not a good idea. While Victor was running around, abandoning her. At the very least Victor needed to be there, supporting her emotionally and physically.(yeah, sound like Victor?) Failing that, 24/7 private duty nurses, a real expert giving care. (Not Adam’s pet...) I’d still say it was either a hysterical pregnancy or she lost the baby early on, when Olivia was still around. Another case of tptb creating their own medical facts.
  18. 1) Blinding himself to get out of jail: Guilty 2)Using that poor lawyer: Guilty 3) Ashley ‘s miscarriage: Guilty of switching the baby but I think they gave him a bum wrap about the miscarriage. First, Ashley supposedly had a hysterectomy for cancer before she turned up back in GC. Even if she didn’t have a hysterectomy she was high high risk. And menopausal age. If she was ever pregnant at all, but a hysterical pregnancy. She was “dating” Victor, turns up with a high risk pregnancy, marries Victor (again). Then starts spotting, supposedly on bed rest at home. So Victor then goes on one of his months long business trips, leaving his psych and pregnancy fragile wife at the “ranch” with only his amoral son to watch out for her. Someone of Victor’s wealth would have hired 24/7 nurses, not just dump her once he marries her. (Victor did similar with Sharon, but that’s another story.) So I don’t give as much blame to Adam on this score. Medically, a hysterical pregnancy is the more rational explanation. So IMO, taking Sharon’s baby was the only thing I hold him fully accountable for, in this case. (The malpractice rates at Fairview must be astronomical, even worse than “CooCoo Nest” psych hospital.) 4)Delia: Billy left an antsy 5 yo with an even antsier dog in a car along a busy road. Adam didn’t know he hit a child, just thought he hit a dog. He didn’t find out until after he got home what happened. It was stupid not to come forward immediately but that’s how he was written. 5) What about how he was written as evil, but Billy kidnapping him at gunpoint, shooting him, leaving him in a burning car and Billy is never charged etc. Or Chloe kidnapping Conor and bring him to Paris? Never charged her. Or Chloe kidnapping Adam and blowing the house up to kill him? Or the gang kidnapping & tying him to a chair telling him how evil he is, hypocrites all. Or (crs which Abbey or Ashley) hitting Chelsea in a hit and run, causing Chelsea to miscarry. Or Victor framing h8m to send him to prison where he broke and attacked the guard. So even Victor giving the evidence to clear him, he’d be in prison for life. All in all, he’s not as evil as they make him out to be. That is as compared to the rest of the Abbots or Newman’s. But he does make a good villain, down to this nununu Adam’s dark hair and dark clothes etc, But Victor and the rest have done more than Adam. This Adam has an agenda, I know. Nothing he’s said this time around is as he says. I wonder who he’s on the phone with. Still a villain but IMO not as much his “loving siblings” say. (They treated him like shit when he turned up, no wonder he returned the feeling...)
  19. IMO, Sharon was “insane “, although not by the legal definition. They had already pointed to some mental health issues by her shoplifting issues, marriage to Victor and retaliation for Victor’s treatment of her. Then Victor tried to sabotage her further by getting someone to replace her prescription meds. Although Adam did kidnap her baby, dumped her when she was convicted of murdering his ex when she was set up by Victor etc. (I thought the writers were bad when they tried her in WI for a “murder” in HI, little did I know how bad they could be!) Then Adam was the one who hid her when she was in legal trouble again, risking his relationship with Chelsea to get Sharon decent mental health care, diagnosing her with the very treatable bipolar diagnosis. This care for an ex somewhat restored Adam’s rep for me while explaining Sharon’s previously inexplicable behavior. The hyper sexuality, the shoplifting, the “wild” behavior were all explained by a bipolar diagnosis. It was a way to restore Sharon’s rep as well. Then they had to blow it by Victor gaslighting Sharon, Sharon getting ECT, not a usual treatment for bipolar disease...
  20. One of my son’s friends was born in England, with her father in the US military. The nurse discharging the mother and baby gave the mother the child’s National Health card. The mother sputtered that she didn’t qualify since she was American. The nurse said “you may be but she’s not”. Yes, I know the military kids are US citizens but it shows how some may chose to claim citizenship from another country. Look at Ireland, where if you can show your grandparents (or just one grandparents) were born in Ireland, you could claim Irish citizenship. This is not extended to your children, but you could claim it. (Program May be over by now, idk)
  21. There is a missionary hospital ship that goes to ports around the world to repair cleft palates/lips. The one I saw featured was off the coast of Africa. There those with clefts are feared as possessed by the devil/cursed etc. The ship is staffed with unpaid volunteers, plastic surgeons, doctors, dentists, nurses etc. They even have to pay their own airfare to work on the ship. People in the community would know when the ship would be in port, people in other sections of the country would walk hundreds of miles to be treated. Everything for the patient is free. One thing not mentioned is that the timing of when cleft lips/palates are formed in utero is also the time the heart is developing. Therefore you can find heart defects in some babies with clefts. We had a family friend whose son had a severe heart defect as well as cleft lip/palate. He died when he was 21, surpassing life expectations by 20 years. But he lived every minute of it.
  22. IMO, measles is the childhood disease that seems “harmless” but has the most potential for severe complications. With diphtheria or pertussis (whopping cough) the potential for fatalities is stronger than measles. So measles is the natural choice for the show: timing of the vaccine coming out, potential complications and recent outbreaks. (Even before this year’s outbreak.) My answer to anti vaccine parents is to look through an old cemetery for pre 1950-1960s deaths. Look at how many children died. Headstones don’t name cause of death but the number of infant/toddlers who died should help today’s parents to realize how serious these “childhood” diseases can be.
  23. I’ve been a long time viewer of Midsommer Murders on PBS. So far I don’t like the John Barnaby episodes. Both the coroner and Ben are written as dumb and dummer to prop up John. They could have easily kept their characters with John, but they didn’t chose to write it as such.
  24. But I am a long time retired pediatric nurse. Back then there was a diagnosis of “sib of sids” where the baby was placed on a home monitor to prevent a reoccurrence of sids. This diagnosis was wiped out when they found out the family they based that study on was a murderous mother smothering her babies. Now days the advice is to place the child on their back rather than their stomach as they did in the past, lowering sids rates. But the previous diagnosis made for generations or more of anxious parents. I cared for children with cleft lip/palate as well. They could be VERY difficult to feed. We taught parents to place a feeding tube, easier than bottle feeding for many parents. That was 20 years ago, I don’t know now. The mother overwhelmed with 5 active children, without support would easily be convinced that giving up the baby was best for the baby, especially when neighbors were so negative about the baby. All she needed was the support of the older children and some positive reinforcement, such as the baby’s weight gain. But that could be wiped out by something like the baby aspirating formula. Ups and downs, without the father's support may make her decide to place the baby in a medical foster home.
  25. I agree. One thing I wanted to add is that this malignorant storyline hurts those needing transplants. A close friend of mine needs a kidney transplant. Most of her friends & family do not medically qualify to donate. (Including myself) She has been told that getting a live donor improves outcomes over a cadaver donor. Now days kidney donor surgery is done laparoscopic, with much quicker recovery. Getting someone to donate an organ, living or cadaver, is hard enough. Having a soap opera trash medical truths can stop those sitting on the fence from even getting tested. It’s hard enough to get people to donate with the truth, but Mal’s trashing the medical facts makes it that much harder. I know this is just a soap opera. But “malignant “ storylines, whether it’s prostate cancer, mental illness, or transplants can hurt, confirming negative or false facts. I want soaps to tell the truth, not “drama” that delays or stops viewers from using medical professionals for their facts. The whole sudden need for a liver transplant storyline was questionable , then a complication storyline even more questionable. At least have plausible medical storylines!
