I agree, worst wedding speech, make it about Kate and Toby and not you or your dad or your rehab or whatever. I thought he had a few again! ; )
-
I can see that but "gag" lol Leave it to the first "Jack" and the ocean. There are supposedly no marriages or "couples" in heaven, I thought the Christian Bible was nice to clear that up and we don't have to have bad feelings about relationships, everyone is just happy souls. I just feel that Miguel deserves some nice scripts where he and Rebecca are a regular couple and I'm glad to see them having fun at the wedding. I have a feeling Jack would have loved Rebecca and moved on in time if she died, I just never could wrap myself around the kids or Kate doing it for 20 years. That is a long time. Too long to have a toast like Kevin made at the wedding. Honor him, but don't go on for 10 minutes about your dad, it's their wedding, it's about them.
-
Is Rebecca's father living? She mentioned a sister once also. Does she have children? A lot of the tree left with questions. ; )

I think the writing there paled. To have her beg to get her daughter back, fall on bad times, not get help for apartment or utilities, etc. is lame. Her daughter loves her Mom, she goes to court and terminates rights? Was Deja there? Did they talk to her, get her therapy? This is too pat and should never have been a line before the wedding. Randall and Beth might be nice to her, but they aren't family and having a mom in jail for something she did or didn't do is one thing, having a mom that says, "Here, take her, I can't do it" as a teen, I can't imagine what would go through your head.

Nice interview. I didn't know Madison was related to writer and I guess Randall's ring wasn't secretly hidden. : )
-
I think Deja is too much of a stereotype to have it be her. The poor, black, foster child, causing havoc and ending up in jail like her mother. I think THI will do better than that. They haven't mentioned Annie much, but I hope it's not her, who wants to see a kid now, you know is dead later. Beth seems the most expendable but time will tell. I don't really like the future scenes, I prefer to stay in the present and flashbacks.

I think Randall needs to tell others and himself that he "made it" . I work with many doctors and people like that. They brag about their cars and second homes like that makes them more attractive or "extra points". There is a pretty big insecurity there but Randall has alluded to that before. There was some grumbling when he told Deja, "Big car, big house" because it is signs of achievement but I also live in a place where many do non-profit work and make much less, they are happy and fulfilled too. Telling a person who is poor they can be successful is fine, but don't make your lifestyle the only 'making it" they can have. I loved my old ob/gyn doc, he was black, very successful and very loved. Many asked why he lived "under his station", regular house, never dressed up, took trips but was never ever pretentious. He told a friend of mine he was happy and didn't need more, he knew who he was and was the most secure person I ever met. I could only hope to always know myself that well.

Toby's parents are Catholic (or his Mom) and you can get divorced and still be in good standing, it's the getting married again and needing an annulment that puts a wrench in some relationships. Not as big of a deal now but another step. I was really taken back last show when Randall and Beth just had Deja's mom leave without protest and now we hear they had a court hearing. Well they got what they wanted, they didn't want Mom around before and now, without any real thought to how devastating that would be, are making up horrible scenarios about her. (not as funny to me as it was supposed to be) Deja regressed, she was happy with them before, happy at school, happy to be there for a night and now she's depressed and feels abandoned. To have your mom in jail is one thing, to have her give you up, is another. Is she getting help? That lady was rude at the wedding, Deja wasn't pretty in the same way as her sisters and I think she took it wrong and he isn't her father. What she did was awful and i don't like TIU making the "foster girl" the bad one, but hopefully it will get better. Beth and Randall wanting her to be happy and wishing they had the "old girl" back is fine, but this is what real life is like, it's not a band aid. I hope she is made to repay the windshield and whatever punishment there is but she probably wont be able to explain to them why for a while.

Poor Rebecca, worrying about what to wear to the wedding not to upset Kate. And that baggy, large sweater they had her wear. Please ditch those next season. I personally didn't like the 40th vow fantasy they showed in the beginning but maybe others will. I think it should be just Kate and Toby and maybe her imagining her Dad there but not another ceremony. Will miss it until the Fall but I hope 3rd year is more like the first.

lol, thanks, that's what you get writing on the fly. ; )

In My Brother's Keeper there is a picture of a little boy about 6 months or older (sitting up) in Doug's locker on the inside of the door. It's very obvious, they want you to see it, I wondered if it was the elusive son or someone else. There are lots of pics on other coworkers lockers but this was different and was very clear. Kind of sad they brought that aspect in and never had the son mentioned again. Since he told nurse Wendy he didn't even know his name, it would be odd though he had his picture. One of those not thought out well plot issues. On some shows, costars will put family members in photo frames that are never really that clear as a way of keeping them close. Earliest I heard of that was on Mary Tyler Moore, she had her son in frame in her apartment. I assume though with Doug, it's his kid or someone he saved and Mom sent picture.

May? That's odd, they've talked about it in interviews etc. The "something happy" finally happening. I hope they don't jump the shark with this show, please stop the mystery all the time, people watch a good drama for the writing and acting, not the twists. Bad shows need that, not good ones.

That's true, writing wasn't as good that episode. Many adults take ADD medicine, my daughter at 25 needs it and feels bad about it but if you can't read for more than a few minutes, an hour program is painful, it's hard. Definitely should be something you talk to your own doctor about. I remember him seeing a cockroach at Anna's apartment and telling her how unsafe they were, etc. One of those things he got to avoid growing up. I always liked Carter but they did give him a nasty side at times, earlier he was the one with the heart.

There were a few clips from youtube but I thought this and a Shrek one were the funniest. I thought though he might do a "This is Us" parody making fun of the hype etc. ; _)

My Lottery Dream Home - General Discussion

He really loves his tattoos. They all have meaning to him. I looked it up when I was wondering what the words meant on his chest. Not my thing, but he loves them. I've liked so many things over the years, changed my mind or matured over books, movies, clothes, colors, etc. I could never commit to a tattoo and I hate needles. ; ) -
My Lottery Dream Home - General Discussion

27 year old man who won 4 million is investing in a large home to rent out also. I think if I were him, I'd buy 2 homes, one to rent out and one to live in, but he was thoughtful about it and decided to flip his current situation with roommates to being the landlord. Homes were nice, very interesting layouts. I tend to like older homes. I didn't like the last one at all but he did.I don't why the homes in this show needed so much work but he wanted his budget under 300.000 so maybe in MA it's hard. I wondered if savings and maybe buying his mother something was in his later plans. Since they probably own the home to start with, I'm glad he found something to work for him. You never know what other homes they will throw in and some might seem nicer in retrospect but never an option at the time. Nice seeing people being smart, there were few in the past, you had to hope had extra money somewhere else. -
I have a while before that scene, but I remember it being sweet. I just saw when Gant committed suicide and how bad Carter felt. When he realized it was him on the trauma table, his beeper went off, the reaction was so raw, so real. Later how he rides Benton until he talks about it, his sincerity and goodness, made him a favorite of mine.

That's the first I heard of that too. Turning off water? Most of the time it's heat or electric and that's why in many areas there are laws that say you can't during certain months. I realize certain areas might be different but a quick google seemed to make it unlikely and unsanitary. (they found tenants would have to use bathroom regardless) Why the writers did water, who knows but yes, no fire!

S02.E17: This Big, Amazing, Beautiful Life

I felt like that too. I thought, they are giving her the couch in a new home when she could bunk with Deja? Deja brushed her off, miffed of course but still, she'll have guilt later. I thought Beth and Randall seemed to do little to ask her mom to stay and where would she go? To go from a cold apartment to your car to Randall and Beth's home must seem discombobulating and of course Deja was more comfortable, but have her help her Mom feel so. It felt like "this is my safe place, I have a cool room, people who care about me, they are rich" you don't belong here. I'm sure that feeling will end by next show but that's my gut feeling when Deja, being upset with her mom, went to bed. If she wasn't homeless I wouldn't have been so concerned about her next step. -

The sad thing was even if she was able to make that long, complicated recipe from her grandmother, her mom wasn't coming straight home, which I found sadder than her cutting her hand. My mom only left me once with her sister to go on a long weekend with my Dad. My sisters who were 6 years older, stayed with a friend. I got strep and a fever and she blamed herself (the only time I got strep I think) Sometimes things just don't go as planned but I was in good hands, just not hers. -
I was annoyed at the wedding scene, Jack old is okay in Kate's mind, but not with her Mom like love birds. Giving her away, walking her down the aisle, but please, special guest star? He's in them all. Rebecca is married to Miguel whom she loves, you can do that and not tread on a dead person's memory. My sister is married to a widower and he loved his deceased wife dearly, family was in therapy 2 years after her cancer death. But he moved on and told my sister he never thought he could love again but he has. I feel it really schmaltzy and over the top for Jack to dominate every Rebecca scene even in the future, 20 long years later. Do they really feel the fans will revolt and stop watching the show. God I hope not.

This last show fell short for me, first time I really felt I should have just gone to bed. No mention of last week's issue with Reese, at all. "I might write you up" equals nothing I guess. Other shows have had vaccination episodes but this fell flat for me, an excuse for Natalie to call someone stupid while yelling at them? How professional. Reese's dad is a manipulative guy that Dr Charles is treating without seeing him? He's obviously a jerk and when Reese finds out Dr Charles knew him better after he tugs at her heart strings and he talked to him, fireworks will fly, she'll look less sleepy and that will be tied up by the following week. Why didn't the writers have Dr Charles ask him why a few hours before he said, "I should have written her, I only did twice" and then lie to her? It's still confidential but he can ask. I also don't think someone is a patient that you spoke to in a room, no paperwork, no chart, no appt made or did I miss that?

I thought so too, a slow period for her? This was one of a few articles http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-2381168/Julianna-Margulies-says-ready-ER-wedding-George-Clooney.html

I didn't mind seeing Deja's background but I thought the whole show being about it, was a bit much. I loved Pam Grier and was sorry to see her die so early in the episode. I've never wanted to surf on my computer and I kept losing focus because you kind of knew what was going to happen. Deja's "bed" references are understandable and I felt for her friend who was already hardened by her experiences, it's awful being shuffled around and many don't get pulled out because of abuse. They also showed though, that many have awful lives with one bed, Jack did, I know real kids that I found out much later, had horrible lives at home when I was growing up,but they kept so much hidden. There was alcohol, child abuse, sexual abuse, never having new clothes or good food, missing meals, it goes on and on. Because we were suburban and back then, cops gave more warnings than arrests, things went on without much interruption. They had the same bed but it was an awful one. Deja is very resilient and I hope they don't turn Randall into St Randall, I don't like that theme, but I do hope to see a realistic portrayal of how they integrate Deja into their family. I also hope she can live with her mother in their new apartment building and still stay close to them. Maybe Beth or Randall can help her Mom get a good job or training for one so she can be more stable and they can watch Deja as she goes to school or works odd hours. Deja loves her Mom but Randall's house is like Disney Land to her, everything is so nice and new and fresh and the kids are cute and polite. I'd love it too as a kid. But getting a "new family' a new beautiful room isn't all she needs and bonding so quickly to Randall and Beth is filling a hole, but is not without issues.- 151 replies
