  1. Re Lucille, she left and they didn't plan on it. She wanted Cyril to stay on the show and not lose his job. They did what they could in not killing her off (thank you!) She might make a cameo for some money to finalize things but I hope the pink elephant is dealt with next year. From an interview then https://www.hellomagazine.com/film/20230302165734/call-the-midwife-leonie-elliott-addresses-cyril-zephryn-taitte-future/
  2. I was wondering why I never really heard of it but it was a good run. I FF through a few parts as I got to know the characters and didn't want to hear certain dribble but most was entertaining. It was my first love/hate watch in a long time. I haven't found a replacement. Few years before being sick had me find The Good Wife and I loved that. Better acting and I missed that too.
  3. They've left it hanging and concentrated on other characters. The actress who played Lucille (although not up to her) really wanted them to give him another story line and felt bad her desire to leave effected him. I think the divorce will happen but it will be after he sees there is life without her and comes to grip with it. Probably be in one episode and slowly they might have him start to see the "not religious " midwife who will be a different type than Lucille (she also needs a divorce) I think they kept Sr Julienne on the back burner with so many new faces but she is the heart of Nonnatus House and probably will be there to mentor when needed. I liked the old episode where her old beau Charles came and then this one I almost forgot about. Season 9 where she takes off her habit. Call the Midwife | Season 9, Episode 5 Clip: Sister Julienne's Revelation | PBS - YouTube
  4. and there was never anything but the "big, bad city" where everyone is drunk, nasty and mean and people die (John Jr) or get on drugs (Albert) or Walnut Grove where everything was "perfect" but people were still mean, bigoted at times, got raped, swindled, abused their kids, the list goes on. It was like they had to knock you over the head with how awful the city was but what did they do.....move there again!
  5. I think he did once and Mary got kicked by the horse....those chores can be a pain. It took him forever to pay for the shoes for the kids, all the crap he bought, poor Nel's. Good thing they had a nice cushion.
  6. I had to laugh reading about his friendship with Jonathan in The Inheritance when Garvey buys the farm and he's like "anyone but you!" I wanted Mr Edwards to pop in and say "Ok I'll buy it, I'm upgrading from my shack". ; ) In the recap they reminded me that Nel's had to take a hit from fending off the real auction participants knowing "Charles would be good for all the goods" Yea.....I don't think he ever had a good crop after that.
  7. Patrick talked of how Merle was so kind to him when his dad when sick. He never told him he knew but he was there for him. This is a nice interview. I didn't realize that Patrick and Matthew were both adopted like the Gilbert kids.
  8. Merle's acting on LHOP was a bit wooden, probably how he thought of the character. Mr Edward's was more lively. Maybe he thought he was too boring or one dimensional to have more of a story line. You are right though, Harriet did, Nel's the Ingall's, Mrs. Whipple, the lady who faked her wake, etc.
  9. Yes, that was nice. I wonder if they had him have a son (the up and coming dentist) to have him possibly be in the show again or at least have Ms Higgins mention him or go to his graduation etc.
  10. She must have just seen the woman was Hindu and the name Victor didn't matter. I just thought it was odd back then that they would connect people. Some even today have a hard time
  11. Yes, I wish they didn't rush finding her son and his death in one episode. I found my only complaint was the constant going back and forth with so many plots. Ms Higgins is talking about her son, a woman is screaming in labor and back and forth, it felt choppy to me this episode vs others. Maybe because one one was more emotional than others. I didn't feel anything bad was going to happen with May so I wasn't as invested. I didn't know if you could leave something back then, but maybe in the that country you could. I wonder if Harry will make an appearance or at least have Ms Higgins say she is visiting him or going to graduation.
  12. We are switching to epic in a month and Yale Hospital's Epic and Hartford, another hospital will all connect so you don't have to have multiple accounts. My smaller group, Gyn has a different one but she can log into Epic without a problem.
  13. Her hair has looked kind of odd lately, stiff and brassy. Is that why? I didn't realize there was only one more. Was the shorter season planned or cut short for other reasons? I guess they had less time to move them along, but fans had pretty good ideas they didn't agree with and thought this was better, but they also could have not had the downfall, Trixie a money hungry "Lets spend" kind of girl and just had them move somewhere where she could drop in to visit but not so far. The son Jonty is a bit of thorn, if he stayed and she was "motherly" to him, who would mind him and if Dad takes him, which is happening, who will watch him when he's busy at work. A stranger? Poor kid, he loses his mom, second mom didn't really connect, now Dad is taking him off to another country, he'll be resilient but not want to connect much.
  14. Finale already!!! : ( I haven’t cried with this show in a while, but that hug with Miss Higgins and her son broke me. Very emotional and very real story. Love her relationship with Phyllis too and I still hope a little bit, that Sgt Woolf can visit her again. They were sweet. I didn't understand how Ms Higgin's knew about "Victor" when she thought of him as "John" or how they knew where she was or had a photo of her young. Was it explained and I missed it? I'll suspend reality either way because it was well done despite. This synopsis didn't explain it either https://www.whattowatch.com/features/call-the-midwife-season-13-ending-explained-a-devastating-death-and-trixies-exit The Mother's Day award twist was nice and well deserved but Reggie's planter was definitely sweet and would be much loved by his mom. I'm glad May's story line was tied up in a bow and mercifully Trixie was put off to the US before she fell down the rabbit hole and was aloof or cold with any more patients. They ruined her character and it wasn't needed. Her brother was welcome respite. I'm also happy the blackmailer got his walking papers and was afraid that would go on longer and be a soap opera like side story. Maybe a divorce will be neatly done by next season.
  15. I didn't see any pics of Sherri at Simi but maybe like Lynwood she came later. I doubt highly though both of them were in the same place without one photo together. She was on CT's list to come and I thought how it seemed odd not to have him too ; )
  16. I was so shocked Sister Julienne told Matthew about how unimpressed she was with Tom's ring...she's a nun and telling him to buy her a big ring. Ugh. It was so out of character as many fans pointed out to butt in that way. It wasn't like he was poor. (yet) I'm glad if we get a break from them for a while.
  17. Yes, he said they'd be alike now with his spiritual journey and hers. Mike seemed to be fatherly more with the girls , mostly Laura but Richard Bull said Jon was ignored by their mom vs MG. She was more popular etc. He could have used it but I'm sure Katherine and Richard were there too. Obviously he felt little emotion leaving and wanting little to do with anyone which could have been home or work or both but I don't think he didn't love his TV family. If he sent any feelers out it was to Alison and early on some other cast members heard from him, Hard to remember there weren't phones unless attached to a wall or cordless and no email etc. Although the money was good, I think he knows if he does other panels or events, questions will get more personal. You can control a panel, have questions you vetted from fans but once they know something they wont ask the same things. To be gone for 30 years from events and then be "naked" is hard. The elephant in the room that he didn't keep in touch with MG and sporadically with Alison and others wont get ignored forever. The silence from all the kids he knew there on the set and lack of info does too. I thought it was wonderful the French writer Alison tours with now, got the long interviews with Katherine and Richard and they spoke of him while others just barely mention he was there. If he chooses to write a book and not tour with it too much (you have to do something) he would risk opening old wounds but he can gloss over some and concentrate on what memories he has and if he has any photos, share those. Time will tell, but I don't see it unless he needs the money. This is the sweet spot, fans are still interested but it will slowly ebb. (except for the rabid fans who want to date him, lol ) There is a woman on his Instagram in photos with him, who she is, have no idea. Time will tell with that too, if a very significant other or friend.
  18. I was hoping Miss Higgins got to see the "cop" again she liked but he got sick. They were cute together. I agree, with the hullabaloo of the wedding, it would have been a perfect exit. I have to believe something happened too late and it wasn't planned to have the chaos now. Sad but I just minimize that part of the show and concentrate on the others.
  19. I vaguely remember them talking to her fiance about the size of her engagement ring. I thought that was tacky, that she would "need" a certain size. She's not a nun or taking vows of poverty but they certainly started making her very shallow. There's a lot of gossip about the 2 of them outside the show, I don't read the articles but see headlines. I did notice they both are breaking up with spouses/girlfriends and although that's their business, I wonder if something sparked a talk with the producers. I can be completely wrong but they not wanting to renew the contract after such a big hullabaloo about the wedding, seemed strange. I agree with proserpina65 that if they wanted to write them off last season, the wedding and moving would have been fine.
  20. yes, I haven't watched this one but saw UK updates. I don't know if this had to do with whatever off screen happenings with the actors but they made it so they will be gone or one of them for a bit until next season. It was a way to write him off for a bit but I don't know yet if Trixie visits or goes later to US. I don't know for sure, but I doubt that never ending wedding and preparation last year was done to make everything collapse. I never liked the paring, Trixie having to have the ultra rich guy and talk about money all the time, this season has been awful with them both being clueless, but maybe if they stay on the show, it will get better as time goes on. Only 2 shows left I think so they have time to recoop if matters get better. I hope so. We don't have to listen to talk about the "best couch and best nursery school and best car etc" anymore.
  21. Great actor. Richard Gerre said of his performance with him in "Officer and a Gentleman" "“I don't think we ever saw him socially. He was the drill sergeant 24 hours a day, and it showed clearly in his performance. He drove every scene he was in.” Gere also describes Gossett as “a tough guy with a heart of gold,” adding, “We were all so proud of him when he won his Oscar. He also offers “condolences to his family.”
  22. Wow, I never knew that, I was a teen then but don't remember commercials etc. Yes, some replicas are gorgeous and that guy had many asking if they could pay for their own but I'm sure it takes a lot of time and labor. https://www.etsy.com/listing/1406152457/the-waltons-farmhouse-dollhouse-action
  23. He did have it on on his instagram and Alison noted he was in "part" right down to the stockings. lol
  24. I thought it was more of a PC way of saying that although odd. She did change, at least on the show in how she felt. On a different topic with so much LHOP memorbilia being sold, some of it a bit tchotchke, why back in the 70's, early 80's didn't they cash in on nice toys. They had large dolls that didn't look like any of the characters. What a huge profit they would have made with LHOP dollhouses. Adults and children would want them lol Lunchboxes? no, colorforms/paperdolls, "ehh" but a nice dollhouse is an heirloom like brio trains. House comes with family and you can add on barn and horses, wagon etc. I mourn an idea never realized. ; ) Some fans own homes they did. The video below is fantastic with replicas. The store too.
  25. That's a lot of coat info...thanks. This was about the failed auction but I hope they found it a good home. It was 2018. https://columbophile.com/2018/06/02/columbos-raincoat-and-shoes-up-for-auction-again/
