Technically Betty's baby wasn't a stillborn because he died a few days post partum. My youngest son died a few years ago and people in my life frequently refer to him as a "pregnancy loss" even though he passed away when he was 2 months old. It may not sound like a big deal but, IMHO, I feel like using the term kinda discounts the hours/weeks/months they lived outside of the uterus. Sorry, it's not you, it's me. His 10th birthday would've been 3 days ago so I'm just extra sensitive right now. I promise I'm not trying to be a bitch. This episode was tough. Her mental health was so poor that I felt a little secondhand embarrassment at times. I felt like shaking her at the restaurant, with her daughter, and with her son. While I think it was totally premeditated and that she received the right punishment it was kinda clear that she wasn't working with all cylinders. She had help available, but I think she was too far gone to even recognize that she had a problem. The poor little boys. 😣

Paul & Karine: These Condoms Ain't For Sexin'
mamadrama replied to Drogo's topic in The Couples (Spoilers)
Mother Paul, you may want to move and forget to give him your address before one of his other personalities turn up. -
I must be heartless because I wouldn't. My mom didn't pay for or upgrade my lodging when I lived abroad and I never expected her to. As an adult, I did it myself. Ari is, what, going on 30? I am assuming that she's been working and has relocated there with her own money (though I know this is a big assumption on my part). This isn't a case of Ari falling on hard times and needing assistance. She chose to move to Ethiopia at 7 months pregnant. She chose to to have Bini find and rent housing without her input. As her mother I'd maybe offer to hire a cleaning crew to clean the bathroom, but otherwise "old furniture" and "dark apartment" would not constitue a bail out on my part.

I never once implied that she's "better." I'm stating that in THIS specific situation her yelling at Jihoon is accomplishing nothing. It's not going to magically change him. Like Jenny, she left home without any proof of change on his end. If you want to get into a discussion about how bad and unmotivated Deavan is, I can go there too, but my list is very long and I was trying to keep my comments pertinent to this episode. She's no prize herself and comes with her own special brand of crazy.
-
They couldn't understand what Deavan's mother was saying yet they specifically said that the neighborhood was bad and they shouldn't be staying there. As I also said, the apartment's square footage is fine (though Family Jihoon's may be slightly larger because it has an extra room), but there's something about it that caused his parents concern. Regardless, it should be fine for a temporary stay.

S05.E05: Drive Me Crazy Like A Roulette Wheel
mamadrama replied to OnceSane's topic in 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After
I got nervous when I saw your name. I thought the new arrival from Colt's Brazilian of the Month Club had found us... To be fair, if my livelihood and happiness depended upon Paul then I'd be ducking miserable. Probably even an alcoholic, if I could afford the alcohol. He shouldn't have brought her before having a place to live. -
Ed and Rosemarie: The Long and the Short of It

Same. It was the people who'd been through the war that I heard all of that from. -
Yep, this was me. I was a late bloomer. It wasn't for lack of choices, religion, or anything like that. Eventually my virginity became a weight on my shoulders. In the beginning it was fine but as time went on it became hard and it was difficult to go on casual dates. Some guys got really turned off by the idea. I'd waited so long that it felt weird to just do it. I finally just did it with a random boyfriend because I literally wanted to get it over with. My best guy friend was the same. Gorgeous, rich, engineer with NASA. At 28 he asked me if I would. He had zero confidence in dating because he was so inexperienced. We'd known each other 20 years, we loved each other as friends, and he knew I'd been through the same thing. So I did. I think this happens a lot more frequently than people realize.

S05.E05: Drive Me Crazy Like A Roulette Wheel
mamadrama replied to OnceSane's topic in 90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After
This made me ragey. He's trying hard to guilt trip his mom but she has his number. He wants a better life for Pierre. It was his MOM who wanted him to move back to the US. He just wants a loan. Jesus, Paul, have some pride... With or without post partum psychosis, one look at Karine shows that she's stressed and probably depressed. I wish Mother Paul had seen her because I think she would've noticed. My first thought was that Karine shouldn't have been left alone with Pierre at the hotel. NOT insinuating that she would cause him harm, but it's obvious to me that something isn't right. I've been there, and I desperately needed someone to step forward and say, "We need to take care of YOU." A day of rest, a grownup trip out, a doctor's appointment.. I feel sorry for her. -
I actually like her, I think she's a hoot, but the fact is I despise Ed so much that she could be a brick and I'd still prefer her to him.

We just install carbon monoxide detectors in the garage and on all three levels of our house. A lot of these newer subdivisions look like that. You usually have a choice of 2 or 3 floorplans. My mom always complains about them and says, "What if you come home drunk one night and can't find your house?" Forget the coronavirus mask- I'll build a freaking wall around my head before I let anyone touch my long hair. I'm also a hair flicker. One thing's for sure-Aseulu isn't going back home to hang out with Lo alone.

I hope Kalani changes the locks when she gets home. And you know she'll have plenty of time. Asuelu's gonna be on that bus for days before he realizes he's still in CA and just going around in circles. -

Him putting the baby's carseat on the counter and just walking away had me seeing red. -
Ariela and Biniyam: Haile Suspicious!
mamadrama replied to Christina's topic in The Couples (Spoilers)
I'm side eyeing the apartment stuff...Ari knows darn well what to expect there. She also spent a year backpacking all over Africa and she wasn't staying in nice hotels, mostly hostels, camp sites, or private rooms. -

Ed: that's not fair, I have a medical condition that causes that!!! Also Ed: Rose's breath is awful. Have I told you how awful it was? It was really, really awful. And did you know Stephanie has an illness? -

I wanna know what's causing the big shit show next week. -
Idiots make poor decisions and get pregnant every day by "accident." No dreams of reality TV needed. This version of the show wasn't around yet when they had their lovefest. considering Bini's immigration history, I don't think he'll be eligible for a visa here for a long time.
-
You'd think, yet he doesn't seem to have much of an incentive. Like Sumit, he knows she's just blowing smoke and that she'll come back. He didn't have to find an apartment because he knew she'd do it eventually. He doesn't have to get a good job because he knew he could lie and placate her. I honestly don't think he cares if she's there or not. His parents seem more engaged.

The only thing that gave me pause was that Family Jihoon seemed upset about it as well. Otherwise I thought it was fine for temporary housing. Am I the only one who laughed at Deavan's all morning=2 hours?
-
I'm kinda with her on that. I also try to find random things in my life to blame on them. Someone drank the last Coke... damn it, Tom! I've been constipated for a week... thanks, Jesse, you never loved me!
-
Jihoon may be a lazy manboy, but the fault here lies with Deavan for knowing this and expecting something different.
-
She's going to join them later. He wanted to get things set up first.

For South Korea I didn't think the apartment was that small. You really can't apply American housing standards to urban Asia. Land and space is at a premium there. The apartment was small but it did have 2 bedrooms... Same with the Ethiopian apartment. However, TLC does tend to show the worst of places. I LOVE it when they say "you can't raise/have babies here." How da fuqu do they think the Ethiopians/Koreans/South Africans do it? The only reason Deaven moved back to Korea is because the show was getting ready to film again and she didn't want to lose her spot. She was complaining about free furnishings...My guess is that the princess brought along mama to help guilt trip her into better digs.

So Ed doesn't like it when people make fun of HIS medical condition but it's perfectly fine for him to continually shame Rose for hers?

We don't really know what happened to make his mom so hardcore, but context clues say he's taken advantage of his parents over and over. He burned down a house for the insurance money and there were some stalking charges against him. He can't keep a job. He's also shown some really disturbing and manipulative (expensive word) behavior. Ex: when he told Karine about his record he didn't even give her time to react. He immediately ran off and when Karine found him he was threatening to throw himself into what looked like raw sewage. The whole time he's muttering, "Please don't make me do it..." Karine walked away from him but on her way out she was robbed by a guy waving a machete. He stole her phone so that Jihoon could sell it. (Just kidding about that part but he did have a machete.) It's all on camera. Any time they argued he'd get in her face and start hollering, "You want a divorce? I'll give you a divorce!" ,(Karine never mentioned divorce.) During another argument he ran out of the house, locked himself in a chicken coop, and started muttering about counting and breathing while he rocked back and forth. He's been very emotionally manipulative (expensive word) to Karine and his mom. He's also gotten on SM and said some terrible things about his wife. You should go back and watch the machete scene and his meltdown at the airport. My guess is that his parents have financed his whole life and they're sick of it. I think he has some severe mental health issues, or maybe an outright personality disorder, and his mother is aware of it and is trying to get ahead of him. Something is really wrong. Even the other cast members tiptoe around him. I worry about Karine.
