Whitney Thore: So She Thinks She Can Dance
mamadrama replied to Meredith Quill's topic in My Big Fat Fabulous Life
Not only are we supposed to believe that Whitney wouldn't move to Wilmington to be with her fiance, but we're meant to believe that the woman who cyberstalked Avi and made charts and diagrams of his movements, who called Lennie 10 times in one day and did drive bys, and who was willing to go through classes to become Jewish NEVER ONCE visited Chase's house or club? It took me 5 minutes to track down Chase's girlfriend online and to find posts regarding the 2 of them-stuff that went back 2 years. And that's before I got to the property records with both their names on it... -

He truly is a lazy fuck... -
Have to admit, I was crushing on Chase's nonchalance. It cracked me up. He was literally acting like an ex employee who was glad to be free of his former boss and was just checking in with his old office mates.

And the fact that Adam always had the latest tots and gadgets...As a kid in the 80s, I wanted a lot of the things that Adam had but we couldn't afford them. His homemade costumes alone must've cost a bundle just for the supplies. They've never hidden the fact that Real Life Goldbergs were wealthier than the Show Goldbergs. The pictures and articles of their house and lifestyle have been around since the beginning. It never bothered me because I watch the show for the 80's nostalgia and they've done a pretty good job of bringing that.

I don't think Whitney WANTS Todd on the show anymore but production is pushing it. She has some bargaining power, but she's no Kate Gosselin or Dr. Now (whose son produces his show). She's only as good to them as her ratings and they MUST know that the majority of us now hate watch. Todd represents that part of her audience. If he were saying a lot of good stuff, though, they'd show it whether Whitney wanted them to or not (like the topless scene). So maybe he's holding back now and just not giving them much to work with. I'm starting to think Whitney has a shitload of incriminating cheap on all of them.

Agree with both statements. And, for the first one, sometimes that works. I got to know Matt and Alla offscreen and that's kind of how theirs started out: she got stability, a nice home, and a better life for her and her son while he got an attractive wife, homemaker, and a family in return. What we often talk about as "being in love" is oftentimes just infatuation. That can wear off. Those two started off as friends but now, after some years, they do seem to have a great deal of love for each other. So it CAN work. We sometimes talk like this kind of relationship is inferior. A transactional relationship can work as long as both of them realize that it is transactional. And yeah, I wouldn't seek a foreign spouse if my husband and I divorced. I met my K1 spouse organically (I lived in his country) but the immigration stuff is a nightmare and really beats the hell out of the romance aspect.

I like to think everyone thought Whitney's outfit looked horrible but intentionally avoided telling her that out of spite.

Someone explain this to me... I posted this on the SM thread, but since it's technically about tonight's episode (Whitney specifically mentions the "news" from tonight's episode and The Skinny but I cropped that to make the size smaller), and sort of references last week's, I feel like it's also relevant here. I'll put it in spoilers, just in case.

Social Media: What's Up With Her?

Whitney said that it was a wrap for them in August...yet the house in Asheville was supposedly filmed in September. I'm going back to my original theory: Aurora's birth and Asheville house were filmed earlier than they're pretending. -
Has he used the word "mistake"? Because he seems to be super happy and head over heels for his daughter, going by his SM.

I've literally said more to you guys after one too many Benadryl on the 90 Day live feed.
-
I wish they'd shown her meltdown in the rain or stripping her shirt off in the kitchen. Chase does NOT talk to her as a former lover. He talks to her like a former coworker.

I've been through this exact same thing (except my relationship was real and my ex married his baby mama). Honestly, even if my ex HAD chosen me over the BM I wouldn't have stayed with him. Once you cheat and get another woman pregnant that's kind of the last stop for me.

The "catalyst"? Lol. The condom breaking with his long-term serious girlfriend was one...
-
I think it was fake but that Whitney was starting to buy into it. I think Chase was playing his part well enough that she was starting to believe that there WAS a potential future for them. The engagement was probably fake, though. She probably told her parents that it was for the show but that there were real feelings involved. I minored in theater (which Whitney has a degree in) and I can cry on a dime. But who says the tears are fake? Just because the heartbreak itself may not be real doesn't mean that she may not feel legitimately embarrassed, ashamed, and sad.

The only person I have sympathy for right now is Ashley. She looks bad (in a sick kind of way). What kind of "strain" did quarantine put on their relationship? Well, since Chase's baby mama was already 3+ months pregnant by then...

I can't take all her screaming. She takes zero criticism, real or perceived.

Jesus Christ, Whitney, show some personal boundaries with Buddy. Is she touching the inside of his thigh because she knows he has a girlfriend and she's trying to mark her territory?
-
The big news is that Whitney's back in Greensboro? *yawn*

Oh Lord. What I saw was more than enough. I saw things on her that I haven't even seen on myself. -
I think you're probably right. Like Bad Egg, David, and Tarik I think they look for partners from foreign countries with high poverty rates.

Whitney Thore: So She Thinks She Can Dance

Yeah, so much of what we deem attractive is cultural, too, not to mention specific to the individual. Personally, I'd take 1 Queen Latifah over a dozen Kate Mosses. I think Whitney WANTS to believe that it's her weight. By doing so she not only gets to cry discrimination but she can pretend that it's not something wrong with her actions and personality. I forgot the parka thing. What was that about? -

I just researched the scene where Whitney farts in Todd's face during their dance practice... No wonder Todd barely speaks anymore. He's traumatized. I know, right? I'm shocked as hell that she's not on OF yet. -
And yet people do get sexually attracted. Look at My 600lb Life. I still maintain that it's her personality, not her looks, that turn people off. I know plenty of average, or even downright homely, people who are in loving committed relationships with partners who think they're beautiful.
