  1. Yes, that's why I said "if you've cut the cord." Clearly, if you haven't, then you already have access to the channels that @MrsHanson and I listed. There are many people out there who seem to think that Discovery+ ONLY carries TLC programming. It doesn't. Personally, it's worth it for me just to watch Loren scream through the television at Big Ed.
  2. Sumit and Jenny wore cards around their neck that were meant to protect them from covid. Now they both have covid...
  3. It's possible to understand this and still not agree with it or like it.
  4. I'm tired of the June show as well. At this point she's the least interesting character to me. The "it's based on a book" argument holds 0 water for me. "Based on" doesn't mean follow to the letter. I've signed books away to production companies. We're under no illusion that they'll be replicated for screen word for word. It's called "handmaid's tale." That handmaid doesn't have to remain June. I'd be fine with it remaining June if I cared about her at all. At this point, though, I'm more interested in Alma, Janine... Besides, most of the book material ended in S1 and S2. The only reason she continues to be Super June is because Elisabeth Moss is a producer and, going by interviews, seems to have swallowed her own kool aid. She's a good actress, but I'm over her.
  5. Surprisingly, the couple that thought they could ward off COVID with cardboard and lanyards now have COVID.
  6. And young Theo from THE HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE!
  7. Mrs. Keyes was played by 14yo Mckenna Grace. She does look like Kiernan, though.
  8. Well, the last few minutes like to have given me a heart attack. Poor Alma. 😥
  9. I've seen a lot of people say that they won't get Discovery+ because they don't want to pay for 90 Day stuff, but the streaming app carries something like a dozen or more channels: Animal Planet, Sci, HGTV, Investigation Discovery, Food Network, Travel Channel, DIY Network, OWN, Lifetime, History Channel...If you've cut the cord then it's a pretty good deal.
  10. They're acting? I just assumed that Natalie got her meds adjusted and Mike's moved on to harder liquor.
  11. Yes to all of this. He's a shit stirrer that's constantly throwing her under the bus. I can hardly stand to even look at his face.
  12. Yeah, he may have been dishonest about his financial situation upfront. Instead of berating her he should clearly lay out their financial situation and explain what they have, what they can afford, what moving would entail, etc. Moving in the US may differ from moving in Julia's province. She may not fully grasp the expenses of security deposits, moving trucks, movers, turn on fees for utilities, etc. If on one side of his mouth he's saying "I'm making lots of money now" and on the other side "we can't afford to move" then I could understand her confusion. Eh, if she can hang in there 1.5 years then she can get her greencard, divorce, and go to wherever she wants.
  13. I can't take Family Libby seriously at all. Their entire storyline screams fake. She was a failed actress who only managed to get bit parts, mostly non-speaking roles, and finally hit the jackpot playing a caricatured version of herself. They sat back and watched how the Family Chantal was able to get a spinoff and now they're replicating it. Her who family is made up of famewhores. They all have Rated X Only Fan pages. At some point my money is on Andrei getting fed up with playing the lazy slob always asking Chuck for money, and all of this will come to a stop. In the meantime, they're playing it up as much as they can.
  14. Getting involved in the first place isn't the question, it's why she continues to be involved. I don't think think she KNEW that he had no intentions of leaving his house. The first 3 times she spent time with him was in different countries: South Korea, France, and Iceland. He probably presented himself in a very different way. She seemed genuinely surprised that they were going to live with his family. That's on him, not on her.
  15. I'd like to say that @Gobi is right and that I'm sitting this season out but, alas, I'm too weak. I watched the full episode on Discovery+ days ago. Maybe twice...Sorry I missed out on TBE invariably more entertaining live chat. We're still struggling with illness here and our kitten rescue took in 2 new birthing queens tonight.
  16. Angela: there are moments, not many but a few, when I kinda like her. But then she ruins them by being an abusive monster. IMO she's one of those people who try to come across as important and confident but are actually really insecure inside. I'd feel sorry for her if she weren't a raging bull. Her grandkids are cute, but they DGAF about Papa Michael. Brandon and Julia: eh, whatever. His parents calling him "whipped" while unaware of the fact that they held the paddle first. He's a manipulative turd. Family Libby: their entire storyline is fake but they're *just* good enough at acting to make me hate them anyway. They've studied the format enough to know what sells and they're ALL famewhores. The only one who does not seem to be in on the storyline is the cocaine-filled brother. Mike and Natalie: I think she may have a personality disorder and he may have a substance abuse issue, but somehow their storyline is STILL boring. I don't find the alien thing to be any crazier than any other religious origin story, but even that's not enough to make up for all the eyerolls and shrugs. I kinda liked the store...
  17. I hate myself for starting this show. I wish I'd waited until all the episodes were out. I have 0 patience anymore. The urge to binge is too great.
  18. Watching Brandon and Julia yuk it up in Vegas when most of the country had to cancel vacation plans last year hits a pretty low note.
  19. At the time it was also based on what nationality you were and whether or not you were able to travel freely to the US before you applied. Since my fiance at the time was from a Visa Waiver country then traveling to the US while waiting for the K1 was fine. The spousal visa left zero room for travel to the US, though. Once you applied you had to wait and wouldn't be allowed into the country until you had visa in hand. However, this was in 2007. Many things have changed since then. In fact, the fees themselves have almost tripled. That's one of the main reasons why we married almost as soon as he landed. We knew the fees were goi g to increase in a few weeks and we wanted to get in under the wire. You'll definitely want to check on ant travel restrictions. Each visa tends to have their own rules and they can change at any time. In any case, Jenny and Sumit are better off marrying there and bringing him over as a spouse. They wouldn't have to worry about a separation because she's already in India. They could just wait it out and then travel here together. I can't see an incentive of getting a K1 in their situation. I'd have done the same, just stay there until our spousal visa came through, but I had to return to the US. I'd lived abroad for years and my British visa, which gave me access to the NHS, was set to expire. I could've stayed on as a tourist for awhile, but I was 8 months pregnant and needed medical care.
  20. When we got married we considered marrying there and bringing him over on a spousal visa. At the time, though, there was a huge discrepancy in processing time and cost. It cost twice as much and took twice as long. The deciding factor, however, was the restrictions placed on travel. With my husband being British he didn't need a visa to come visit. As long as he didn't stay past 90 days then he was fine to enter. It was still legal for him to do this while the visa was processing. When our number came through he just had to return to England for the interview and medical exam. The spousal visa was another matter. Once we applied for it he couldn't travel to the US until the visa processed. That was taking a year. Since I was pregnant at the time, it was important for him to be here. The fees are pretty comparable now but, ironically, it's MUCH harder to get a spousal visa. The parameters and requirements are not the same. Processing time is still faster for the K1, no matter what the official websites say.
  21. And they looked identical to the ones the mom wore at the party in 1995. (They began the scene with a closeup of them.)
  22. I loved bodysuit. The first time I saw one was on Jennifer Aniston in LEPRECHAUN. I couldn't afford one so I wore a black bathing suit. The mirrors lined the back wall. They could just be a metaphor, like how the girls' lives mirror each other, but I have a feeling. You're right about the different clothes. Floral dress at the party, red on the stairs. This may or may not be me in in '95. 😜 You can't see the cowboy boots in the first one...
  23. How long can Quinn keep this up? She won't be able to full his lids for long. IMO Liza doesn't want to marry Charles because she still wants an opening to Josh.
  24. My mistake was actually the word "soundtrack" when I meant "song." I actually did mean the '45. It had the theme song and "She's Like the Wind." I also had the "Hungry Eyes" single from the movie. The B side was "Make Me Lose Control" which I still maintain is a better song. I eventually did get the entire soundtrack but it was on cassette. I hated cassettes and wasn't sad to see them go. The best thing about them is that if you had one you didn't like you could tape over the holes at the top and make your own.
  25. See, for me they look bang on to how me and my friends dressed during that time. When my son was laughing at Jamie ("he's wearing 3 shirts!") I pulled out my photo album and showed them my 16yo boyfriend wearing the same thing. I lived in a small, rural town. We didn't really get the goth look or the pale makeup here. "My So-Called Life" was popular at the time and we were watching Roxanne and Angela and laughing like "Who dresses like that?" We saw it on TV and in magazines but not necessarily in real life. There may have been 1 or 2 kids but they were the exception. When we look on a time period and their fashion we tend to generalize (personally, I like to think ALL women wore flapper dresses and beads in the 20s) but it really could vary by region, age, family culture and income bracket. We also had cliques that dressed in different ways. I'm still bummed that I was never able to afford a denim-on-denim pantsuit, neon skisuit, pineapple suit, or brown leather bomber jacket. Since this takes place in summer we're really not seeing a lot of kids like we would if they were showing school scenes. I wonder what they'd do with those? Maybe show more variety? The thin black chokers, crop tops, overall shorts, flannel shirts, slip dresses, etc were all pretty much popular mall clothes at the time. My only real fashion complaint are the shorts that Jeanette wears in 1993. The vertical stripes were definitely more 89-90. It makes sense, though. People don't change their wardrobes every year. Stuff always bleeds over. My other complaint is the cordless phone with the long antenna. I'll give Vincent a pass on the see-through banana phone in 1995 (I kept mine til college) but by 93 We were using cordless phones without needing 6 inches of metal sticking out of the top. Especially by 95. I just chalked it up to people hanging onto things even when newer stuff was available.
