  1. Not super impressed, but hanging in for now. I hate when writers don't do their homework, and language and/or references don't ring true. For example, I don't remember saying "Too soon?" at that time, as was done with the Anne Frank reference. And ADC's character referencing "Connecticut...with its Lyme Disease". I looked up the timeline, and that reference was a bit too early, unless you were working for the CDC perhaps! Such mistakes take me right out of the story.
  2. Thanks for the clarification re the "what if" scenes, makes sense to me. Loving this so far, but 6 episodes is such a tease! Last night was good, but tonight was better IMHO.
  3. OK, point of clarification, please: I thought Scully and Mulder said that their son was given up as a baby. So are those scenes them imagining what it would have been like...or did I misunderstand how long they had their child with them?
  4. I can't find a character thread for Liz, so I hope this question is OK here. I want to know what Liz has been reading! Tonight it was Candide...did anyone pick up on her books from the previous episodes?
  5. This series started out so strong, it was so sad to see it slowly go down the tubes. I thought this final season was horrible, but stuck with it because I'm loyal that way and wanted to see it through. After reading all your insights re the finale, though, I will rewatch. Well said, Marceline! I entered the finale without an ounce of sympathy left for Jackie, and the ending seals the deal.
  6. "The sustainable wood for the micro house is on backorder". Ha!
  7. Ah, got it. Thanks so much for the reminder, Mya Stone!
  8. Color me a bit confused. Can someone please clarify Bennet's connection to Cesar, and to Lucy ( who he passed a birthday present to) ?
  9. If I may digress a bit, back to the "evil empire" stuff. I graduated high school in 1979, so I would have been a bit older than Paige. While Reagan led the country down a conservative road in the early 80s, there were still many of us progressives out there who didn't buy the program. My college campus was definitely going in a conservative direction, but my friends and I were liberals who were still fighting for peace and didn't see the USSR as evil. I think Paige and her church would fall into that group as well. The question for me is, now that she knows the truth, would the center allow her to passively support her parents? If she agreed with their cause but didn' t want to participate herself, where does that leave things? Would she be seen as too much of a loose cannon?
  10. Can't wait to see where the Paige storyline goes, love the way it was handled. Phillip taking the phone off the hook...so they wouldn't get a call and have to leave? So Paige couldn't call anyone impulsively? Probably a bit of both, I think. I loved the last scene, the way Paige was framed--separate, observing.
  11. Yes, the connection to her own mother. Also, the Russians also fought the Nazis in WW II, suffered great loses, played a role in the liberation of those in the concentration camps. Her story was one she could connect to on different levels.
  12. The whole interaction of Hannah's parents, the dinner party etc. Was done so so well. I was surprised that LD had any role in the writing, as it really showed the hand of a wise writer of a certain age. For example, Hannah's mom's giggling at the toast and her colleague/ex-lover's confession of love...just so spot on.
  13. There was a question upthread regarding the value of the information Nina learned from her cellmate. The woman had been claiming that she had no knowledge of what she was doing when she made the drop, just doing a favor for her boyfriend. She revealed to Nina that she knew exactly what she was doing...but did it anyway for love. Stupid girl, it might cost her her life.
  14. This was great, thanks so much for the link!
  15. Yes, I remember that commercial. Yes, I used Love's Baby Soft. ( Hangs head in shame). A question: what was the song that that the babysitter was playing on the boom box? I usually recognize all the music on this show, but I' m stumped. God that storyline is disturbing.
  16. I think that what's getting forgotten here is that Fiona is relatively stable...with a focus on "relatively". Next to her parents she looks like Mother Teresa, but she really is a hot mess. Taking Debbie to that club was all about her needs--if she wanted to spend quality time with her14 year old sister ...how about a movie?
  17. I thought he did suffocate her. It seemed that she struggled, and then went limp when she, well...died because she couldn't breathe. I think he pushed her closer to make it harder for her struggle free, but I didn't hear/see a cracked neck. YMMV.
  18. I personally love the look of mixing prints when it's done right, but isn't the key to pair different size prints? Zanna's were both huge, IMO it looked crazy!
  19. Don't get me wrong, I think the whole premise of the challenge was awful. But, the winner didn't adhere to the challenge at all--she simply designed and executed a cute outfit with no connection to the monsters. I expected that they would gently point that out and chose another winner. Am I the only one who found that unfair?
  20. YNB watches each episode 3 times, takes copious notes, and then rewatches the entire season. She is smart, funny, and beautiful. Make that woman co-host Now!
  21. Just rewatched, a lot to take in. In the final scene, it appeared to me that whoever was in the cage was humming the same tune as.Eleanor was earlier. Does anyone recognize the song? I'm wondering if it might be a Mennonite "church song".
  22. Vee is not psychotic--that would involve hallucinations, delusions etc, none of that here. I read recently that Jenji told Toussant that her character was to be a sociopath...but didn't let her know until the first day of filming! How's that for amazing acting?
  23. Is her character's first name really Galina? In Italian, "gallina" means chicken (hen). Ha! :)
  24. I didn't think about her being charged in relation to her boyfriend's death too. Wow, that's a mess.
