  1. Why such surprise that Nicky was given drugs? I've never met a drug dealer that gave a damn about anyone's sobriety. It's all business to them...and an addict, recovering or not, is just another potential customer. And Taystee is simply an abused child still trying to get Mom (substitute's) love and approval.
  2. I had a Puerto Rican friend who referred to herself, and anyone else from a spanish-speaking culture, as "spanish"..YMMV. As for Rosa, I always thought that her gravelly voice was due to her illness and chemo, making it harder to pick out the accent. All I can say about the spanish spoken in the flashback is that it did not sound Puerto Rican to me. It appears that she has been incarcerated for a very long time...does anyone know what sentencing there tends to be for bank robbery? As for Soso, I think the not showering thing, while perhaps initially about bucking the societal status quo...ended up being all about having a shred of control over her life. The shower is what "broke" her IMO.
  3. I agree, becauseIsaidso, great summary! Regarding the passports, though: this is Lester's business, and I imagine he has a safe. Keeping passports there would be safer than at home (theft, fire etc) but more accessible than putting them in a safety deposit box. Kind of an old school way of thinking, but doesn't old school fit here?
  4. I enjoyed this episode as well. What a great teacher, And Louie broke his heart. There is no doubt that that was to be the PSH role, a natural. I would love an update on the lives of some of the characters, but bringing them into his current life would feel too contrived. When your children do things you did at their age, it does bring you back, and it is a conflict. My daughter was caught drinking at school at Lilly's age, and she had Relatively significant consequences. Now that she's 20, we can joke about it, but I still think I (and the school) did the right thing at the time.
  5. Sorry to be so graphic, but to answer the question : From the location of the blood in the snow, I assumed he slit the poor dog's throat.
  6. I was intrigued by the idea of a Fargo series, as I love the film. I didn't expect quite as much death in the first episode...but I'm in. I like how it references the film, but is not too spot on about it. Am I going to Hell because I was thrilled that the bully got his come-uppence?
  7. So happy for Oscar, what a talented man and a lovely person. I was really expecting a pre-determined Asha win, but I think Heidi's question about the criterion put the cabash on that, thank God. I'm not always the biggest Heidi fan, but she asked that question to force the issue. Smart. NPH had insightful comments, more so than the "experts" who regularly judge this train wreck. Does anyone know if Heidi is a producer on this show? This show has changed my opinion of Tim Gunn so much, it makes me sad. Now, if I ever run into him in NYC, rather than fainting...I'll probably just walk away.
