  1. Stupid NBC in Detroit didn't show Thursday's game because football, but the cable guide showed it on at 3:30 am Friday morning. So I DVR'd it, only to be greeted by a half hour infomercial for Hair Club for Men. Thanks for nothing, WDIV, and so glad that Cindy won. Will have tissues ready for the inevitable.
  2. Highland was a Detroit area appliance chain, which didn't survive Best Buy/Circuit City. But they always had amusing ads. Sadly, that wasn't enough.
  3. Reminds me of one of my favorite commercials of all time..."feefty vatts per channel, bebycakes" was a catch phrase where I worked
  4. That dealer was a shady one though... Did you catch his interest rate? 24%! That is some BAD credit. And if you're buying a $3500 car, and expect it to be a halfway decent runner, for the love of GOD do not buy an old German car!
  5. She's on the plane with Rush Limbaugh, who promised to leave the US if Obamacare was passed.
  6. Same phenomenon as having your insurance lapse and getting in a wreck THAT VERY SAME DAY, often while LITERALLY on the way to start the process of getting insured.
  7. I was taught in German class that the easiest way to pronounce the umlaut U is to purse your lips like you want to say U and say a long E instead. The French U is pronounced similarly. So purse your lips, everyone...CamÜ And no Jeopardy AGAIN yesterday because football. They showed Jeopardy at 3:30 am, which I missed.
  8. This case bugged me this time too. I have a huge maple tree on my property and the leaves don't respect the property lines, and many of them end up on my neighbors' lawns. Even if the branches were trimmed to exactly the property line, the leaves are gonna go where they go. Does that mean the neighbors have some right to trim the branches back further so they can "enjoy" their property? Leaves are just part of the price of living around trees IMO. I would have loved to see something showing (a side view?) where the branches ended and the property line began. Although the Karate Dude was a goof, he may have had a good point here.
  9. Well, crud, no Jeopardy last night because the NBC station that carries it here had football pre-game. Sorry to read that Justin lost. I did like him
  10. I know, right? They teased that the day before and we were all "oh boy, can't wait to see THAT". And then? Bupkus
  11. Whoopster and "good for you" to two contestants in the chat. Hey, you WANT to go to the 48 contiguous states? Good for you! You DID go to the 48 contiguous states? Good for you! Ye gods. I remember that route-plotting algorithm being discussed a few years aback http://www.randalolson.com/2015/03/08/computing-the-optimal-road-trip-across-the-u-s
  12. It's funny how the Harris character evolved...in the beginning he was a jive talkin' bro. Then subtly he became Mr. Suave and urbane.
  13. Guy was OK the first couple of years of DDD. But then...the "i'm so cute" mugging for the camera, the catch phrases, the shouting.
  14. I bought a Hurricane Spin brush at BBB with a 20% off coupon (of course). It works pretty well, comes with three brushes. It's great for cleaning the ceiling in my bathroom. Also did a decent job of cleaning the embossed vinyl floor on the steps into the kitchen.
  15. My favorite Harris line: "if you can't afford to go first class, CHARGE IT" His interactions with Steve Landesberg were fantastic.
  16. Yup, Springer/Maury. Lots of shouty stupidity, at least for the 30 seconds I could stand to watch. If you do watch, you will need a shower after
  17. Pot guy was definitely honest about why he grows the stuff. But...if I were selling a house, and even if I were a major weed smoker, I'd not have it around while the house was on the market.
  18. I noticed on Saturday that Marcela pronounced cilantro as most Americans do. She and Aaron Sanchez generally overpronounce it, like Giada and Italian words. Sunny at least seemed a bit toned down. Normal lipstick color too, thank dog.
  19. Well, and emissions fraud. They're not really advertising that.
  20. That Chick Tract guy didn't like Freemasons either....right up there with Catholics https://www.chick.com/reading/tracts/1074/1074_01.asp That was pretty funny, actually. Dog lady was a bit wacky. Just a bit
  21. I thought JJ making note of the many many litigants whose insurance lapsed "just that day" was pretty funny
  22. It seems the VIPoo commercials are getting aired a LOT recently. Currently these ads are #1 (or should I say #2) on my (s)hit parade.
  23. Adam is getting to be a drag. He is a high-functioning addict IMO.
