  1. More and more I'm coming around to the "Coleman expose" idea....I wonder if this new billionaire network guy isn't in cahoots with him.
  2. I can only buy it because the poor man had no idea where his daughter was, or if she had been kidnapped by some reality show weirdos or if she was hurt. Ruby failed to tell her family what she was doing, so they may have been calling and calling her and are just confused as to where she is at. All we had was creepy, unsettling Quinn just saying that they were going to "take him to Ruby right now" after he is seeing her on screen having sex. For all the man knew she had been forced into it, or there was some weird explanation, or maybe some epic misunderstanding. At the very least, he probably at least wanted to tell her that all of this was being filmed and to put a stop to that My dad watches nothing but soccer and the PBS news hour (and 60 minutes). He honestly would have no idea what it would mean if he was told I ended up on The Bachelor.
  3. Yeah, whats up with that girl!?!??? Ode to the black girl who never gets a line.... Girl, I see you there You speak not to the suitor Do you have a name? Jeremy is going to run straight to Rachel's mother like a baby, and then he is going to file a complaint. Or at least thats my prediction.
  4. Well, this show has officially left me no one to root for. 1. I'm so over Rachel its not even funny. Both work relationships she had went straight to hell, and what does she do? Jump straight into another work relationship, because she apparently isn't smart enough to realize that these things don't work out for her. Last year I could forgive her, she was clearly unbalanced and went away to help herself. She fell in love with someone else almost by accident. But this year she is actively hooking up with a man and using her sex to get stuff that she really hasn't earned. For whatever reason Quinn goes to that awards ceremony. If someone had actually sent Rachel those tickets, it would be one thing, but the only reason she is getting to go is because she is Coleman's squeeze. This is the sort of thing that Rachel would look down on from any of the other women. And then for her to go along with what was happening to Ruby/father was just disgusting. I hate this Rachel. 2. I'm also over Quinn -- I get it girl, you're a badass and you don't care, but so far you've managed to nearly paralyze a man and now you're actively involving someone's parents...when you gave them assurances that they wouldn't be taped? Are you that upset that you didn't have a good relationship with your dad? Does one woman need to feel powerful by taking down another powerful young woman? But at the very least, Quinn owns her shittiness, whereas Rachel is just a simpering fool. 3. I'm also over Darius. Yes, I get it, you already have mouths to feed, you don't want to take on the responsibility of being an activist as well. But maybe you could have mentioned that before you blindsided the girl on TV. Or maybe you could have just let her win and see where it went. If there is anything that is going to make "black twitter" hate you, its going to be letting a beautiful, intelligent girl like Ruby go just because her dad is upset that he caught you sleeping with her and because she is asking you to stand up for your community. He didn't need to embarass her on TV, and he is a giant asshole for doing it. 4. I do think that Coleman is doing that expose. Those glasses look like Google glasses, or some sort of frame that could hide a camera. Since I hate everyone on this show, except Ruby, now I'm rooting for Coleman. Heck, I'm almost rooting for Chet at this point.
  5. ha ha -- when I was younger I was constantly chided to "eat faster," which I think has grown into an issue I had with food. It sounds similar to yours. I also came from a family that did not believe in food waste. And to this day, I hate food waste, but I will throw something away before I force myself to try to eat it or use it if it won't be good for me. Which sucks because some things really only come in larger quantities so there will be some waste. When I was first consciously losing weight (in my 20s it only required running), if I felt like getting some oreos, I would get the smallest package I could find but I would have to throw a lot of them away. I hated it, but I knew that if left to my own devices I would eat them all.....and sooner rather than later. And thats how Oreos (and so many other processed foods) are designed, so that you want to eat the entire box, the entire sleeve, the whole thing. Its all a game stacked against people. I'm going to try the extra healthy stuff trick....its great because since its summer there is so much wonderful fruit out there. As for the 80% full thing....I only liked it because it forced me to think. So much of my eating can be impulsive....and tinged with the need to finish everything on my plate. But by the time I sit around, thinking it through, generally I'm like...."I don't know how full I am...maybe its 80% so I'm just gonna stop." That to me, is the magic of 80%. You know when you're 100% full, you know when you're 0% full (or hungry), you know when you're 140% full or overstuffed. But thinking about being 80% full really requires some thought, and you'll probably never know if you're 80% full, but just stopping to think about it makes you more likely to just stop eating. IMO. But of course -- I love food, and so I slowly let that go :)
  6. I think the beauty of that method is just in the contemplation. So much of our eating, or at least mine, is impulsive. Eating a piece of fruit forces you to think. Do you really want this cake? Is the fruit enough? I feel like its the same thing with the "eat until you're 80% full," I think the magic of it, is in forcing you to sit down and think about how full you are. Once you really start thinking, I feel like you're less likely to give into impulse. And most of the time, you'll be like "well, I'm not sure how full I am, but maybe its around 80% since I'm no longer as starving as I was before I started eating" And perhaps, because you're not just starving for cake, but you've had the fruit, you'll eat a smaller piece.
  7. I hope there will be a third season too.....but I like the this episode could be a season finale, OR could be a series finale. I feel like some shows end and no one realizes at the time that it won't get renewed so you're like, "huh?" (I'm look at you Rome). I'm hoping that perhaps word of mouth gets people watching this season. I mean, how many people have NF just to watch OITNB? So, they are already paying for the service, they should give the show another shot! But I also know that this show must cost a lot to make, its just so beautiful......I heard that was the reason HBO decided not to renew Rome...even though it was a pretty popular show....it was just expensive.
  8. Yeah, maybe I've watched too much House, MD.....but I thought you had to shave off the hair. They should have just cut them off as a public service. I can't even with Tammie, I would literally take anyone over her.....even annoying T-Rex stripper and Black Stewie/Teddy Ruxpin.* *-- I mention them as competition for Tammie's spot as "dealing with love" in the world of hip hop. Since I believe that giving men a lapdance in front of your man as he takes a woman two feet taller than him out to dinner counts as "love" in the world of hip hop on this show.
  9. I have a soft spot for Da'vonne, and I think she got unfairly pegged as "angry black girl" in her season for daring to talk back to Clay/Shelley, who, IMO were ridiculous in demanding to know why she was going from room to room. Her reaction wasn't ideal, but I don't think it was so terrible that she be labelled as the very worst. I have always thought that Da'vonne was a contemplative game player. Does she sometimes get overemotional? Yes, but IMO, I think she course corrects pretty quickly. She thinks about things that the others don't....such as tempering her goodbye message to Jozea. I'm sure she wanted to rub the alliance in his face, who wouldn't? But she kept her mouth shut. It was Nicole who showed her cards, which is understandable, but if Jozea comes back (and he might, because he is somewhat entertaining) I think he would probably work again with Da'vonne, because he thinks its a personality issue and a matter of respecting her faith. He probably doesn't think its personal. And from what I've seen when they are all in the room celebrating, most of the time she is sitting down and not doing whatever ridiculous dance I'm seeing from frank/james. Which is what she has to do to keep her alliance happy, I don't think you can go into the room where everyone is celebrating and look like a sad sack. I felt like everyone had an advantage coming in, the newbies had the numbers and the vets led each team. The newbies were just silly enough to basically hand Nicole HOH, ensuring that two newbies would go up and then lost the RK competition (which may be rigged, but it seems like a way for the majority who isn't HOH to get a nominee on the block, which should have worked in the newbies favor). If the newbies had really stuck together, or if any of them had ever watched BB, I think it could have worked out for them.
  10. I was thinking along the lines of Corey -- you have 6 tags, so you're going to need to average $3/tag. Take out the $9, and if you pick an item that is $5.50, know that you are also going to have to pick an item that is $2.50 so that there is a $3 difference. etc, etc I'm also surprised there wasn't a "well this is going to add up to some fun!" joke from Bronte, because the situation seemed ripe for it.
  11. from what I read, the low viewership was why Netflix almost didn't give the show a second season.
  12. I agree-- I wouldn't really care about SGS as a person, except that she is clearly writing Rachel as herself. And if SGS is this horrible mean girl that I can't root for than I think it will drag the show down. Because ultimately, that is who she is going to make Rachel. And perhaps S1 Rachel was "humanized" by Marti Noxon. This show is still fun for me -- but I don't want Rachel to just become a snotty mean girl with a superiority complex. And thats where this show is going, and thats where Rachel is going. And I suspect that is who SGS really is.
  13. I would think its about being able to make a bottle look big, but filling it with less wine.
  14. You're certain based on? I'm not saying for sure one way or the other....but given the fact that she is barely older than him, and she said her son was killed in front of her make me doubt that they are actually related. Even by the standards of the day, 12 would be pretty young to both have a husband and give birth to a child. And then there would have to be two different sets of people that took Ahmed and took his mother. So much so that the mother believed her son to be dead. Thats a lot of coincidence and conjecture -- not impossible -- but improbable IMO.
  15. I think Ahmed was a fine and loyal son to the Khan, but his session with the hooker brought up some really bad memories. It has to be conflicting to basically be the "son" to the man who violently took you away from your parents. I think the story of a mother from his area, protecting her child just brought too many painful memories to the surface. Stuff he would have to have pushed down and bottled away in order to survive and not lash out at the Khan. So, I think he killed her to maybe suppress those feelings of rage he has bottled up against the Khan. Steals her earring and fills in her memory for those things he barely can remember. And I imagine that right after the encounter/killing of the prostitute is when he goes back to the Khan, starts his job in the ministry and starts to form his plan of revenge. I think meeting that prostitute and killing her was his turning point. At least thats how I read it.
  16. She had him when she was 10? That woman did not look old enough to be his mother, not even 12 years earlier. And I thought she said her son was killed in front of her. I think that he just had some deep rooted conflict about the Khan and where he came from. The woman represented that internal conflict. I think it just showed when he started to turn into who he was. He loved the Khan and tried to forget about how he came to be the Khan's son. That woman reminded him of all of that, and so he killed her and I suspect thats when the seeds of his plan started to form. He took parts of her life story to make his own.
  17. 100% agree about Byamba. He is so pretty it hurts. So, I noticed this as I was watching "The Borgias" as well. Season 1 was all sorts of pomp and circumstance, and by Season 3, Jeremy Irons was talking about turds. It was unsettling....but I think it works here because the Khan has never had many airs about him.
  18. me too, but I never have the patience to re-watch a series for some reason. I had a feeling something bad was gonna happen, but I sort of thought he was going to snap the little boy's neck. That was sort of ugly -- I get the reasoning, but I wish he would have gone with the plan the empress had :(
  19. Overall -- I enjoyed the entire series. I loved that this episode felt like it could work as a series finale, since I doubt Netflix will want to pay money for a season 3, if season 2 doesn't do well. Beautifully shot, beautifully acted, sweeping landscapes, gorgeous outfits. I guess this show doesn't get much consideration for awards because only a few people watch it, but I think the show deserves it, at the very least for benedict wong, who humanizes very unlikable Khan.
  20. ^^yeah, because only badass chicks like Rachel aren't completely bowled over by a random baby they don't even know. And I like babies just as much as the next person, but I don't think women automatically become puddles of maternal instinct because a baby is within a 10 mile radius. I would have respected that more if the women were at least using the baby to get closer to Chet because they think he has some power. As for the "producing" it all seems so obvious to me. Even Quinn's "producing," but I guess they pick women with super low self esteem so the are more likely to fall for it.
  21. How is Dodge not getting in on this douchey 4th of july commercial schtick. Surely the Dodge brothers were doing donuts and high fiving each other at a family BBQ, right?
