  1. The only thing I could think of watching Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is wondering if he wanted a new rug? That's the only reason he agreed to appear in Airplane!, he wanted a $35,000 rug.
  2. I listen to the Delta Flyers podcast with Robert Duncan McNeill and Garrett Wang. The newest episode has two new co-hosts, Terry Farrell and Armin Shimerman. They've started a recap and review of DS9 since they completed Voyager earlier this year. I like the addition of Farrell and Shimerman, they fit nicely into the format and they're interesting to listen to. And, this way Wang and McNeill can continue the podcast...
  3. A YouTuber I watch, Emily D. Baker, covered a Colin/Cuthbert caterpillar cake lawsuit between Marks & Spencer and Aldi. I recommend her video which is how I knew about the caterpillar cakes. She entertains with their snarky tweets, social media, and online articles since she doesn't have the court documents to read.
  4. Yes, I giggled with the cast at Prue saying, "So Nicky, tell us about your beaver." Paul's expression as he turned away was hilarious. Yes, my favorite line of the episode and I had to rewind a few times to watch it again.
  5. From the article: "Hijacks don’t really happen, and this is entertainment, right? We’re stretching the credibility of reality." What does Kousetta mean, hijacks don't really happen? Even leaving out 9/11 which he referenced with the United 93 movie, what is this guy smoking? I love the Canadian tv series Mayday (also called Air Crash Investigation, among other titles for this show), and they've had episodes about hijackings. The most memorable episode about a hijacking I remember from Mayday was one that took place in Africa, and the pilot was so close to a successful water landing. (Ethiopian Air 961, Season 2, episode 13.) I don't know how ATC works in the UK, but in the US, another episode of Mayday had an interview with Patrick Harten, the controller who worked with US Airways 1549, where Sullenberger and Skiles landed on the Hudson River. (Season 10, episode 5.) I think Harten said when they took him off his position, he went to the union office and had to recount his version of events. Even after he was told everyone survived, he said he was still traumatized. Yet, this character runs off to deal with her kid. How does she make any money, missing this much work, let alone keeping her job?
  6. Since Ralph Garman's not hosting, I'm not watching. I watched the originals because of him, after he talked about it on Hollywood Babble On, when the third season was about to air. Hope the people who do watch like it, but it doesn't sound like it's for me.
  7. All I remembered (before your comment) was that Chen and Bradford were dumb for not going for the legs. Well, I don't watch it for an intricate plot or well crafted characters, just take it as the mindless fluff it is.
  8. I hope they're not trying to set up Ross, Hannah's other love interest in the books. Based on the books, I think Hannah should pick Norman. Even their cats, Moishe and Cuddles, are best friends! Based on the movies, I see why she chose Mike, until she didn't in this movie. Hannah is a moron in the books, too, so I'm not surprised. If they're just trying to keep stress on Hannah and Mike's relationship, this isn't the mature way to do it. It's been a few years since I read Carrot Cake Murder, but I don't think this was the plot of it. Just looked it up, and this murder was Lisa's (Hannah's business partner) long lost relative at her family reunion, but I don't remember much beyond that plot description since there's over 20 of them. They're not very good and the newest books are recipes (and I want to strangle someone every time the phrase "impeccably clean hands" comes up in them) and cooking/testing with the small detours into a murder mystery. I think I keep reading hoping for an interesting recipe, like the fudge cupcakes (Book: Fudge Cupcake Murder/Movie: A Deadly Recipe.) I think the earlier movies were closer to the spirit, and plots, of the book series. The newer ones don't feel as "cozy." I'm not getting as much of the small town feel.
  9. Don't overlook your library. Mine has all 11 seasons on DVD.
  10. Sometimes it's easy to keep the certification on the license, but I don't know the rules in Illinois. My dad was a mechanic and had a CDL. He kept it even after he was no longer working at a concrete plant, just in case he needed to test drive something like the cement trucks again. I don't think he ever did, but he could have and it didn't cost extra to keep current. If the writers thought it through (which I doubt), that may have been their rationale to have Jackie still able to drive the truck.
  11. So, the neighbor is kinda like Mrs. Figg the cat lady from Harry Potter. Didn't enjoy this. I hope it gets better because these actors have none of the charm of the movie actors, and I'm not a huge fan of some of them either. Helen in the movie is mousy but when pushed shows strength; this Helen is brittle all the way through. This Harry seems like a bad salesman, not a spy pretending to be a salesman. I'll give it a few more episodes, and hope it's just a mediocre pilot and not a mediocre show. It was nice to see Beverly D'Angelo as the boss, though.
  12. The way they were chanting, "Pee Wee! Pee Wee!" reminded me of when Paul Rubens was caught in the ...theater. Later that year I was at the local Renaissance Festival and the comedian at the show we were attending told us every time a man walked by with his hands in his pants pockets, we should chant, "Pee Wee! Pee Wee!" and see if he took his hands out of his pockets. Chanting for Sheldon sounded just like it did at the Ren Fest.
  13. In the podcasts when they talk about changes like making Sam deaf and the mycelium network, Druckmann says he wishes he'd known or thought about those things for the games. Mazin and Druckmann seem to be enthusiastic making the story work and expand for the translation to tv so it's really enjoyable to listen to the podcasts.
  14. That's one thing it appears Diana and the Queen have in common. They're both more into their husbands than the husbands are to them.
  15. I don't know why they didn't crack open the computer and either take or destroy the hard drive. Quicker, easier and it can't be recovered. Did she really wipe the hard drive that quickly? Of course he'd have back ups. I wonder where else the other backups are stored?
  16. I was like a mini Royal Pains reunion for Carmen's case, with Mark Feuerstein and Ben Shenkman. I hate Ri'Chard's glasses, all of the frames so far. So ugly. I like plain and subtle frames so you can actually see the person's face.
  17. Oh my god, the tassels! I'm wavering between never needed to see that and falling over laughing. Yay Alara! The sandwich! No Charly! And if they want a new cast member if they come back, Lysella is properly set up and the actor is good! Claire trying on dresses -- I like the one she wore to the ceremony best of the three. Standing on that lit platform reminds me of those fiber optic dresses, and that could have been fun. And the Kaylon looking and standing in unison at the ceremony was amusing. I loved that most of the Kaylon came for the wedding. I like how supportive Klyden was of Bortus at the bachelor party and wedding. Klyden looked nice in the bowling shirt. On another note about them, why did their recommitment ceremony say they would be naked but they wore those weird thongs? I don't want to see Moclan genitalia but I'd have appreciated a well shot, kind of Clouseau and Gambrelli in the nudist colony in A Shot in the Dark approach. I know that would have been more difficult to shoot, though. That, or say almost naked for protection during the chase. How do Moclans decide who chases and who evades? I like that this is a satisfying series finale in case this is the end. But, I hope it's just a nice season finale. They tied up a lot of threads but left a few they can pull but won't feel awful if they don't. Like Alien Nation. Or Firefly. Or Freaks and Geeks.
  18. I finally watched Warming Up to You (ugh!) and the only reason I watched the whole thing was because I wondered how much they spent at Lululemon on Cindy Busby's wardrobe. I think that's where most of the budget must have gone.
  19. Alien Nation is my favorite tv show. When Matt and Cathy tried to have sex, Cathy hurt Matt's neck and George recognized the injury immediately. I was kind of surprised Claire didn't recognize John's injuries since she's usually much better at those intuitive leaps. Matt and Cathy had to take a class. Isn't there training for Talla and John? How did Alara manage? Alara never complained about constantly sending her boyfriends to the med unit, just how they were intimidated by her strength. Maybe they didn't get that far. Talla must know how to moderate her strength, otherwise she'd tear up surfaces constantly. I suppose she can't train herself to be careful during sex, kind of like Mr. Incredible putting a hand print in his car when he was mad.
  20. He is in the suit and does the voice. If you watch the season 2 gag reel, you see him in the suit without the helmet (from a distance) and Grimes says something about it. I've listened to interviews with Jackson on the Planetary Union Network podcast and he talks about the suit and his performance. I don't remember where I heard or read it, but someone mentioned how the other Kaylon actors had to mimic Jackson's movements during Identity Parts I & II.
  21. Why that would that be true? Lots of people loved Alara and they said Sage dated MacFarlane. I don't hate Charly or Winters' performance because she's dating MacFarlane. I dislike Charly because she's one dimensional. She hates the Kaylon and isn't shy about telling it, and is a good pilot. Even in this episode, she was good at flying and said something mean about Issac, so more of the same. Winters' line readings are wooden. If she were better, the performance could rise above the material until the writers give Charly something else. I'd enjoy loving to hate Charly, but I don't think Winters is capable, and that's a shame. Contrast Charly with Klyden, a character I dislike for entirely different reasons. Klyden is bolstered by a good performance from Coleman. Klyden also has more going on than only being a sexist jerk, such as loving his family (even if I don't like how he does it), dancing, getting addicted to cigarettes with his husband, plays games, is willing to try new things for depression, and so on. While we've had two seasons for everyone else, so far in four episodes we still only know two things about Charly. I think I got more about Yaphit in the pilot alone. I don't want the weak spot of the show to be Charly/Winters; I want her to be an asset and source of conflict for good storytelling like Klyden.
  22. I've figured it out, my question for last week's episode. I don't like Charly Burke and I'm not a fan of Anne Winters. MacFarlane, why didn't you pick a more talented actress to date if you must cast her in your show? I don't like Klyden but I think Chad Coleman is great in the role, and it's not the same with Charly. Except for the conflict last episode, Charly doesn't add a lot by way of character and I don't think Winters is talented enough to make the most of it. I didn't care for her performance at all this time and it's too bad. I wanted to like a new main cast member. Why didn't they wear space suits? Seriously, a new place and like in Galaxy Quest, is there air? Isaac can't catch biological problems so why not use that to their advantage and have him in the landing party? Brannon Braga needs to stop writing characters transforming. At least this was better than Threshold from Voyager and Genesis from Next Gen. Really Braga, stop it. Just stop. Independence Day solution to the episode. Didn't hate this one, but it's not on my list of favorites. I liked the scene with Claire and Isaac at the end. Favorite exchange: "You might get the sniffles." -"I am prepared."
  23. I'm not a big fan of Charly at this point. The episode looks very nice, but it was almost too much "Look at all this production value!" with the battle scenes. It was nice seeing Yaphit in the space suit. And it's good to see the show back.
  24. Sara Rue, Pete Davidson, and Bailey all in one episode, and Chenford? Yuck. I left the room for part of this one, and I'm already wondering why I've stuck it out this long.
  25. I picked DVD, but if you can buy the episodes somewhere like Google Play or Vudu, I'll get them there. DVDs aren't 1080p but I want to show support, but I'd also like HD instead of SD. I bought mine on the Play store when they had a great deal for both seasons.
