  1. Totally whiffed Bond. In my defense, I've never considered him either sexy or mysterious, and I don't think of that tune as staccato.
  2. No problem with Holbein but I remained convinced that Vonnegut wrote Catch-22.
  3. Oh no! I loved Blazing Saddles (well, I say Blazing Saddles but it was Gene Wilder...) so much that I had the dialogue memorized. Just yesterday I was describing someone who was using some fancy language as using his mouth better than a $20 whore.
  4. I recently decided to rewatch some classic Who and started with the post-Adric Peter Davison episodes and now I'm up to the C. Baker episodes. Ye gods. Teegan was obnoxious and Adric made me want to reach through the screen and bitch slap him, Peri is possibly the most grating companion until the Moffat years. Also, although the scripts were not the best (even Timelash which was by Holmes, I think), and the Doctor's wardrobe might induce seizures, it was the acting that really made some bits unwatchable. I don't remember Sylvester McCoy's time well enough to comment. I do remember T. Baker, though, and those stories moved very slowly as stated by @Anduin. Avoid the one with Eldrad at all costs unless you want to hear how many ways Elizabeth Sladen can say "Eldrad must live." The episodes set on Gallifrey and the ones with multiple doctors are fun so you might want to look for those. Episodes with the Master (and in one case, the Rani--that was the best of the C. Baker ones I've rewatched so far) were usually entertaining. My tolerance for Daleks, Cybermen, and Sontarans is low but some find them enjoyable. Aren't you glad you asked?
  5. Thanks for that, @30 Helens . Western New York and just barely a boomer: Pop is pop. Wegman's says so. Don and Dawn (also on and gone) and pen and bin do not sound the same. Been and bin, though, do sound the same unless you're over the border and trying to sound like a local. There is no distinction between Barry and Berry. I can hear the hw when it's used but it's rarely used.
  6. There are times when episode titles aren't enough. For example, I appreciate that someone took the time to make episodes of the Great Canadian Baking Show available. However, every series has a Cookie Week so labeling a video GCBS Cookie Week without indicating the season makes watching a single season of episodes in sequence impossible.
  7. Greek gods, especially Zeus, changed appearance a lot so recasting could be explained. I mean, he could be bull one week and a swan the next and a different looming human another.
  8. The Untouchables was all I could think of, too.
  9. It was a great time to be a grievance officer for the union--one complaint the entire time and it was a holdover from before lockdown.
  10. One of the greatest episodes of any TV show. And J! adjacent.
  11. From Snopes for those who have trouble with the page: "The claims appeared to originate with a single individual (Rubin) testing vintage Pyrex for lead in a non-laboratory environment and using undisclosed methods. Other people attempted to test their own pieces; one owner of vintage Pyrex in the "Butterprint" pattern discovered different results:..." "We were unable to locate any other information substantiating the claim that vintage Pyrex contained any worrisome levels of lead. All information we could find indicated that the method of production has stayed consistent for 60 years. The FDA began enforcing limits on leachable lead in 1971, and a vintage Pyrex pattern commonly targeted as purportedly high in lead content didn't even go into production until 1972, after all manufacturers were subject to the FDA's new leachable lead standards."
  12. It doesn't seem too outlandish to me; I learned to drive on a car without power steering. Like trying to park a battleship.
  13. I had issues with Hulu crashing and other glitches when I had the Hulu/Disney+ subscription. But on a Roku TV.
  14. Now I want to watch Flash Gordon again. My friend and I saw it when it came out and forever after we would spontaneously sing "Flash! Fla-ash" to each other or suddenly shout "Gordon's alive!". I love Brian Blessed. When I see the phrase "force of nature" or "larger than life", he's the person I think of. Completely delightful to share a meal with (some friends and I met him at a con when he was at the table next to us). Life is always a celebration with him. But about Topol... I had the great fortune to see Zero Mostel as Tevye on stage and he was amazing. But he definitely would've overwhelmed everything else on screen in the film.
  15. Seconding the love for Lockwood & Co.
  16. Again, this is so maddening. I followed the link you posted but got the same result I have been getting: no result. As long as the hide option works, I can deal, but it's ridiculous that some of us can see the Edit button and some of us can't, and it doesn't seem to be consistent across devices, browsers, or operating systems.
  17. I know you're all dying for an update on my Amazon issue. The edit button doesn't show up for me in Chrome either, but I can at least hide things in the Continue Watching queue and that's essentially what I want. It annoys me no end that Amazon and Netflix will keep things in that queue even though they know damn well I watched it for 15 minutes a year ago and haven't been back.
  18. Thanks for this. I've been using Firefox, so I'll try Chrome tomorrow.
  19. The service quality must depend on where you live. One of the happiest days of my life was the day I dropped off all my xfinity hardware at the store and was finally and forever free of Comcast. On the other hand, I really regretted having to cut Direct TV. Even after AT&T bought them, the customer service was excellent. I was also happy to leave AT&T phone and switch to Cellular for half the price. For internet, I'm fortunate enough to live in a place with GoNetSpeed, a fiberoptic service with great speed, low price, and excellent customer service. I have Amazon Prime anyway and subscribe to Britbox and Acorn through that, sometimes picking up something else like Paramount or MhZ for a month. I also have YouTube Premium (not YouTube TV) and Netflix, and HBO Max or Hulu depending on whether there's anything I want to see. Discounting Amazon which I was already paying for, it all still costs less than I was paying for Direct TV and AT&T, and that combo was less than Comcast and AT&T.
  20. Unfortunately, Continue Watching and Watchlist are 2 different things. It's just maddening because I edited the Continue Watching list once and now can't do it. I have found out how to delete things from my watch history but things I deleted are still in Continue Viewing. I've created a new profile just so I don't have to run through 50 things to get to what I actually do want to continue watching. So fucking frustrating.
