  1. Anecdotal evidence: my BIL the cop said the same re: Barney Miller.
  2. The sky is yellow again as it was this morning, and there is an air quality alert.
  3. Kim Richards and Jodie Foster were practically interchangeable as child actors and frequently up for the same roles. I think there was a third girl as well but I'm blanking on a name.
  4. Canadian Content rules have been around a long time. Bob & Doug are mentioned in the Examples section.
  5. I share your frustration re: YT. I gave up on last night's game.
  6. It isn't just for the contestants, it's also for viewers who might not be as conversant with the rules as we are.
  7. A Carolina Wren has been singing outside my window all morning. Sometimes he goes down the street but he always comes back. It's getting a little annoying. I don't know if he's marking territory or trying to find a mate but hope whatever it is is over soon.
  8. Please stop taunting me with Wegman's! The nearest one is 50 miles away and it's not fair! Being close to one is one of the many reasons I'm moving back to Western New York as soon as I retire (fingers crossed). That and sponge candy. Oh, and some of my family also lives there.
  9. There's no genetic reason for first cousins not to marry. It's only if additional generations also marry first cousins that problems arise. I'm not sure why it developed a squick factor relatively recently. My feeling is that if it was good enough for Albert Einstein it's good enough for lesser mortals.
  10. I've been to DisneyWorld and Epcot once, as an adult in grad school, while one of my friends was working in the park. It was the only time in my very long student life that I ever went on spring break. Glad I went, don't need to ever go again.
  11. I keep getting bumped out of Amazon Prime, or at least Britbox. I've updated Prime and then uninstalled and reinstalled it since I got bumped again. Is anyone else having issues?
  12. I opened Netflix via Roku and didn't get a message. Now I feel so left out... Maybe because I only use it one device at one location?
  13. If you mean Amazon Smile, that was discontinued a few months ago. I looked for the announcement online but didn't find anything. However, if you go to your Amazon account and look at the URL, it just says Amazon instead of Smile.
  14. Amen. Or unless you have an idea of what else you'll be needing it for, like law librarian, journalist reporting on courts, or some occupation that you're already in or interested in where the degree will enhance your CV. Law school is a slog, especially if you're not really interested in it.
  15. Yes, your mistake was looking in real life instead of on TV.
  16. @KittyMom4, I'm not from there but my family used to camp there every summer. I'm from Western New York, across a shorter river than the St. Lawrence from the Great White North.
  17. I always wished that the part of the state I grew up in would secede and join Canada. Sort of southern southern Ontario. As if they'd have had us.
  18. I also stayed near the Opera! Not the heart of the city, as you say, but a 10 minute bus ride to the Louvre and left bank. So many bus lines stop there and there's a Metro station as well. That area was the site of the best part of my trip last year. The marathon was that Sunday and the runners went along the main avenue a block away. I had no idea what was happening, I just heard a lot of noise and music from my room and went to investigate. In the square where the runners turned on the avenue there was a group of musicians, mostly brass instruments, serenading everyone. They looked college-age and often danced to the music. Those serendipitous moments are the best part of any trip.
  19. Raiders was exhiliarating. I remember when my friend and I left the theater we were practically whooping with excitement. Not so much about Indy but about the adventure and the crazy ride. It was different from anything we'd seen before.
  20. Hated Rome*, or to be precise Roman grifters, both times. Paris was lovely both times but this last time was nearly ruined by a massive blister on one foot that made walking excruciating. So I missed a lot of things I wanted to see. Which, of course, means I have to go back again. *Loved all the Bernini and didn't want to leave the Borghese Gallery.
  21. Thank you all for your encouragement. I do intend to stay with the course, I'm just frustrated. There are no classes for adults in my area, that's why I'm in the online one. I'm working on a flat surface but it throws off the proportions, like faces are always too long and narrow compared to the original. An easel would be overkill so I try to tilt the surface I'm drawing on a little or stand up. I'm also struggling with how to hold the pencil...I'm going to suggest to the instructor that he invite some left-handed artists for some of the demonstrations.
  22. This has always annoyed me because the first time I heard it I also thought *gag*. It's not pumpkin, it's spices that go in pumpkin pie, like nutmeg and allspice. But those also go in a lot of other things so why name the drink after disgusting pumpkin? It's also become so frigging twee. Almost makes me dread autumn.
