Your woman reminds me of a woman I saw while walking to the metro sometime ago. I have many muslim families in my neighborhood and this muslim woman was dropped off by her family (I presume husband). After he dropped her off and went away, she took off her headscarf and the long wrap around skirt and stuffed them in her bag. You're expecting I'm going to say something like: she was in a mini, looking like a hooker? Nope, still in a long skirt, but instead of floor length, around mid calf. She had on a short jacket, not too tight, but came down about mid length on her arm and her hair was curled. She looked like any other well-dressed conservative African-American woman, but now not obviously muslim. I'm not sure if that's why she did it, or wanted some freedom in dress, but I did think of what the Duggars would have done. Even if they breakout, I don't think it would be mini skirts and crop tops. Hopefully, they would follow Alyssa Bates' example.

Probably because they are the only ones they can talk honestly about marriage together. They can't discuss disappointments, compare pregnancies and deliveries with their mother. She'd talk about her own pregnancies and try and top whatever delivery drama with her own (plus I'm sure she'd play the two babies in heaven card for extra points). Disappointed in marriage? Smile and be happy! I'm sure Jill and Jessa do talk about what they expected and how expectations changed: Gothard be damned about expectations before marriage. I'm sure they have bonded by shared experiences.

True. this was also the main theory for the costume designer of Star Trek: Original Series. Show something that's not really shown, such as the inner portion of the leg. Of course he also was of the theory, if it looks like it could fall open/off it was then sexy. Didn't matter that those costumes were very secure, if it looked like something could happen the anticipation would make it sexy. Duggars/Bates would have been scandalized by the fashions on Star Trek we now see as tame. Guess we are desensitized.

Josh & Anna Smuggar: A Series of Unfortunate Events
Catlyn replied to maraleia's topic in Counting On
Could Michelle be pregnant?? Her muscles may have given out. They've been stretched out for a long time and they may have decided this is where they stay. My sister had two kids (or as we referred to them: horses) weighing over 9lbs each. She was only 5 and weight 100 lbs. While she was able to keep the tummy trim for the most part (with them stretched that much, she'd need plastic surgery for a real tummy tuck and she's a "no surgery except in emergencies" type of gal) when meno set in, and she had a problem with her thyroid out it came. She's thin everywhere else, the doctor's say she's healthy except for a few minor things, and they did say muscles were stretched. -
Congratulations, ChiCricket! Your grandson weighs as much as I did full term! Glad everyone is doing well! Funny thing about memories; I remember the lake very much, but don't remember the plane trip to Germany where we lived for 5 1/2 years! It would have taken place within the year. I used to think the lake was in Germany, but my mom when showing me the picture said it was Torch Lake in Michigan where her parents had a cabin. Another vivid memory is all four of us kids lining up for a photograph, I remember the broken stone walkway we were standing on, because the stones were white and some had golden veins in them. I remember the dress because it was my favorite. This was when I was two almost three, but I don't have any vivid memories of anything before. How I felt about the apartment, the long plane ride, no backyard to play in. You'd think I would remember something about those! It was like I had just woken up and those were my first two days on earth. But, I can remember clearly things as I was getting older, so maybe the other things didn't really matter much to me.

I'm not sure if that is true. I have a vivid memory of sitting at a lake with my mother, I didn't like the water; it was cold. I remember my mom's bathing suit. I really remember wanting my brother's sailor hat and my sister's long hair. It wasn't until I was older, and saw pictures taken of that time when I realized I was still a baby/toddler. Definitely not 2 years yet. (Especially as a family story is, Grandpa liked short hair on girls. So, my mom cut my sister's hair and for almost half an hour, my not-quite-6-year-old sister screamed into the mirror, "Dam Gwampa, Damn Gwampa!" She is four years older than me. Definitely not raised Duggar!) The lake was the first memory I have that is vivid. I was shocked when I saw the picture because I didn't realize someone that young would have such longings for something as my brother's hat. I really wanted that hat! You may have memories of her, they just have gotten faded with time.

The smiling is the forced smile you have for pictures when you really don't like smiling (or don't like getting your picture taken). It's not a natural thing for them to naturally smile in pictures unless you catch a rare, natural, candid smile when they are doing something they actually enjoy. Being joyful all the time is not natural unless you're the village idiot, even then it's hard to do.

The missing words are: "the realization of" I am the official translator of bad handwriting for work and my family. My youngest brother's handwriting was horrid.

I'm wondering if, in spite of his stupid instagram about mosquito spray for the zika virus, he is actually taking the virus seriously and has put his foot down and said no kids while there is a problem. I do think he's the one who is pushing adoption.

I guess the Bumpo works the same way as the blanket, but no hitting. Put in a chair and he can't move around.

It's from back in the 80s and I know that because my sister or my mother had that same top! Mechelle might have been pregnant with Josh in the photo.

It seems that everyone is going to hell with that test if they answered honestly and had a normal life. They didn't ask if you repented, what age your "sin" was, how are you doing now. So, one big happy party in hell for everyone. According to that test, God will be pretty lonely. That's also why I answered going to hell didn't concern me, too bad they don't ask why.

You could be right. I live near DC and when we have high temps and humidity like above, I don't want to move. I'll just sit under the ceiling fan and stay there. Yet, when I was last in Boise, ID the temps were in the 100s and dry, and I had my bottle of water with me and I was wandering all over that town. So, CMR2014 might be right, they are just really boiled in the CA weather.

Kinda wish this was true. Salty meaning: coarse, earthy, colorful, spicy, racy, risqué, naughty, vulgar, rude. I'm sure there are many who truly are salty Christians and I would love for Jill to meet them. On another topic, yesterday I saw the movie: Lights at the Piazza. Whoever suggested the young girl was like Anna's sister, I agree.

Happy - we must be of similar vintage but I am older. I have had many of those same experiences. I worked for the meanest woman alive and we had small program budgets to reconcile. The secretary and I put them into excel. She forced me to do them all by adding machine and bring her the tape because she didn't trust the "computer". Which was always right by the way. And in one agency we had inferior equipment and insufficient staff and were told to "work smarter, not harder". Fun times. Except not. We must be of an age, because I remember similar experiences. One of my first jobs was at a law firm and when they got the first memory writer everyone was amazed! You could type a document, correct any mistakes, and save it in a "bin" and then have it print out correctly at one time! You could also put in stops to let you type in information for multiple form letters. Oh those days before computers! You learned how to use white-out so no one could tell, how to cut and paste (using real scissors and glue) and then copy the document on the new copiers that didn't leave any tell-tell toner lines.

S09.E20: The Big Bear Precipitation
Catlyn replied to shapeshifter's topic in The Big Bang Theory [V]
This is what I was thinking. At my work, we have a financial rep who works with us for our IRA's. They are on call and we can schedule one on ones with them. Penny may have one at her job and is matching her talk with what she hears others say about their financial planners. Penny does spend, there was even one scene in one of the early seasons where one credit card got cancelled the same time she received another one. As an actress, she may have racked up debt with classes, headshots, etc. Promising them to pay later and now later has caught up with her. She may now be trying to act responsible and pay all her back debts from credit cards to loans. Also, while her salary sounds big, she may have a lot taken out in benefits which can take a huge chunk out of your weekly/bi-weekly check. You can say you make good money, but if you are paying for benefits, Iras, loans, etc. you may not be bringing home good money. -
I first read that as Voldie as in Voldemort. After reading that clip about children as vipers, I don't think it's that far off. Since when has shyness been counted as a sin? I agree with queenanne, that children should be pushed forward a little to shake hands, but it's the parents decision not some jackass standing there. There may be a reason the kid doesn't want to shake hands with you, Voldie, he senses what kind of evil, mean-spirited creep you are.

Catnip is also part of the mint family. :) You know how they react to that!
-
Apparently it's the menthol in IcyHot. It's from the mint family and they react as if it's catnip. It's suggested that they not lick the skin where it's been rubbed in, but if you find them licking your night clothes it'll probably be alright as long as they don't eat them!

The Lonely Js Club: James, Jackson & Johannah
Catlyn replied to SpaghettiTuesdays's topic in Counting On
"precious ones who served our country"? I'm sorry that sound patronizing to me, especially from people who will never serve in the military. It really struck a nerve with me. They need a thesaurus fast; Bible speak isn't cutting it. -
First of all, Jynan, that painting was beautiful. I loved it and wish I was there. While I can read upside down, and any which ways (I think it's because I've always been curious as to what's on someone's desk) but, I have trouble with my right and left when I'm giving directions. I'm much more likely to point correctly while giving the wrong direction orally. I have to tell people follow my hand, not my mouth. Funny, I've never been anything other than right-handed although I did experiment with ambidextrous writing. My family have the same problem. While playing tour guide to some friends, my brother gushed, "Look at that fountain on the right!" Everyone turned their heads to the left and there it was!

I used to have dreams where I either tripped and fell, or fell off a cliff, then waking up with a bounce in bed. I told my sister about the dreams and found out she used to jump off cliffs in her dreams just to have that bounce! Lately, my most vivid dreams are me (by the way in my dreams, I'm not old, or really young, about in my thirties state (about 20 years younger than my age now). Healthier and thinner than I am now, but not unrealistically strong. I guess we dream the way we see/feel about ourselves or what we would be without our health issues.) in houses. Sometimes I own them (but they are not my house I live in awake) other times I'm a guest. Like Happy, they are gorgeous and with tons of rooms and always near water, either on a cliff near the ocean or near a stream with waterfalls. My most vivid dream I remember from years ago; I was a guest in a luxurious manor house, with a fabulous, very charming host. The party was very high class, and I felt a little over my head, but everyone kept commenting they were very honored as they had the bedroom next to the host. I finally was alone with him and asked him about this, and he laughed. It turned out that the rooms revolved so they were all next to him at one time or another and they never knew the rooms revolved. I felt honored he told me, as I was the only guest who knew about the arrangement. Then I woke up. Odd dream.
