Oh I don't know, looks to me like this is Oliver's story, not Felicity's at all! /sarcasm J/K I know the writers aren't responsible for the episode synopses, so I'll assume that's just...an oversight on the part of whoever does write them, and that Felicity will be centered in her own story.
-
Maybe because they want there to be some challenges while Felicity is in the wheelchair? They wanted the set to look like that, and they may have intentionally put some problems in place--or intentionally not solved those problems in advance--that she/the team would have to address once she is injured. To be honest, that's about the extent to which I expect the show to explore the challenges of her being in a wheelchair. That she will have inconveniences and things she feels like she can't do, or places she can't go, etc. (Obviously I agree with the position that this isn't going to last past this season, and I'd put it at resolved by around 420, if I had to guess).

Okay, gotcha, this part of your initial comment seemed more like a declarative statement than an opinion/interpretation: My point was just that I just disagree with this, especially insofar as the writers' intent, because I believe they see this as a two-lead show, with two POV characters. But I do think that viewers may see one or the other character as more of their lens to the show. I lean slightly toward Abbie. So if people have complaints about the series w/r/t unequal treatment of Abbie's personal, interior life versus Ichabod's, I would disagree that the show is set up that way, and therefore those discrepancies are to be expected. I think there was an unfortunate shift in focus, especially in S2, that left Abbie out of the picture, and many people are probably still sensitive to any perceived inequities for that reason (among all the social, historical reasons to be sensitive to a black woman getting short shrift in favor of white costars). But I appreciate what you're saying, because I totally understand that Crane feels more like the POV character to many people.
-
I perceive the show as a true two-lead series, but if I see it through anyone's eyes, it's Abbie's. I don't think the show intends Abbie to only be seen through the lens of Crane's perceptions of her, because I don't believe they see Crane as the POV character. I think they both are. But it's interesting that you perceive the opposite!

Normally, I'm in agreement with that kind of statement--I think writers should veer toward what works best on screen vs. what they want to work--but tbh the only person I've ever seen NOT have chemistry with Clarke was Finn. So I'm perfectly content to leave Clarke/Lexa in the past, if that's what makes most story sense, and move on to any number of other options--including no one at all, for a season. I think she has a lot of chemistry with Bellamy, and the show kept them separated for almost all of last season. Or she can get with Raven, the best of all possible worlds. :)

CP is not a child of an actor, which would seem to rule her out. Also I don't really think any part of Iris's role has been given to another character YET. I think they are playing a long game with Barry/Iris, so other relationships are par for the course. But I don't think this BI is based on any actual info, but instead pieced together from this guy's misunderstanding of the situation. I believe he has conflated KC and CL in his mind, and possibly CL and EBR too, and therefore thinks KC is starring in LoT, and the rest follows from there. The BTS stuff he's talking about sounds like a misunderstanding of the situation with CL being killed off in S3 (and the rumors re: KC's unhappiness about the Canary stuff) plus the midseason finale/who's-in-the-grave storyline.

Without even looking, I knew Julie Plec had commissioned that for him! She loves that artist (missmert / thekeythief). That is super adorable. -

I was wondering if they were all in Maui, because Victor Garber posted a pic there and tagged it "dclegendsoftomorrow" but...I just kinda thought maybe it was a mistake because he is still getting the hang of this stuff. :) Anyway, very cute if a bunch of Flarrowverse people are hanging in Maui together. -

I don't see what's confusing about KL believing that to Nyssa, that marriage was real. It was performed on her native soil, in her home, within the customs of her culture. What other marriage would be real to her, if not that one? Of course she's not happy about it, and of course it was performed without her consent, but apparently that's not a necessary component to LoA marriages, so...again, to her it is real, and she is married. This is why the whole thing was so gross to begin with. I don't expect Felicity or Oliver to feel bound by it at all, but MG left that stupid thread dangling and they do need to do something about it, at some point. If they're not going to do something--like having someone use the marriage (or preferably, the option to permanently get OUT of the marriage) as leverage to get someone else to do their bidding--then they just need to have Malcolm proclaim an end to it, and move on. -
Right, nothing can change what Lexa did, and I don't think Clarke would reach a level of forgiveness, let alone trust, that would allow her to be with Lexa again romantically, especially so soon. If she does, that would indicate to me that JR's stated feelings about shipping just referred to certain ships. That would be a pretty clear sign of a ship guiding story, not the other way around, IMO, and he's allegedly actively against that. We'll see, I guess!

And I think that without the flair of a costume, Felicity is still a heroic, useful, impressive, other adjectives, presence, in fact more impressive than some of the costumed heroes who Blue Steel their way around the Flarrowverse. I mean, I think it's pretty clear there's just a fundamental difference of opinion in terms of how Felicity's importance should be conveyed on the show, so I'll drop it after this, but my response to your last question is: Felicity doesn't need to blend in, or to conceal her identity, because she's rarely in the field because that's not where she's needed. And she should be "left out" of the costume parade because putting her in a costume means nothing for her character, while keeping her out of one DOES. It's a point of differentiation--like Damien's compared to other villains--in addition to just being logical. Her "look" is her costume, as far as comic book-y imagery goes. And again, I just feel like, if some viewers have a problem seeing her value, that's the viewers' issue, not the show's, because the show continually shows her value and role on the team.
-
I don't think I'm following this. You seem to be saying that you appreciate that Damien doesn't wear a mask, that that lack of costume actually adds a dimension to his character, that it MEANS something, and yet you don't feel the same is true about Felicity. Is that accurate? Personally, I feel the idea that the Flarrowverse has put undue importance on costumes and therefore Felicity needs one to prove she's important is like saying that the best way to cure a virus is to let it kill the host. :) IMO, the show has put undue importance on costumes, therefore, it's critical that Felicity remains costume-free. I really don't think the show needs to give Felicity a mask because a small percentage of the viewing audience has a difficult time caring about or seeing value in characters who don't wear masks. That's those people's problem, not a problem inherent in Felicity's character. In fact, I don't believe there IS a problem with Felicity's character as far as her role on the team goes, and certainly not this season. Every episode that I can recall, she has played an important part in tracking bad guys or MacGuffins, and/or monitoring their movements while the team is out in the field. Maybe it's because she IS such a crucial part of the team that this work may become almost invisible to viewers, but that doesn't mean it's not happening. Giving her a costume would only make sense in-show if she were actively pursuing more field work, and I don't think that's a logical or appealing avenue for her character. The highest and best use of her time is back at the lair, as eyes and ears for the team, considering they have too many costumed fighters in the field as is.

Wow, that sucks. But the trailer looks great! I'm scared to find out what would make Octavia so furious with Bellamy.

I was a little wary too, but tbh, I am happy to have a powerful female voice guiding the show, and there isn't another female writer on the show who I feel better about (I have issues with Schwartz and Shimizu too). That said, I don't really know that we can assume that the William story was WM's "baby," as I'm sure all the EPs had to discuss introducing this plotline, and if anything, she may have just been saddled with situating it in her episode. [ETA: or what @way2interested said!] We know that they've heard the criticism of 408 and the storyline in general, and maybe it's silly of me, but I do have hope that they may be adjusting their plans, at least somewhat. I'm sure we're dealing with it again, but maybe in less of a heavy way than they planned and maybe we can hope not to see it at all in S5.
-
This is exactly it, thank you, bless you.
-
Yeah, what are they even talking about here? He barely said anything, so that's what you spent so much time discussing? That he would say, "It doesn't matter because it's over now." Okay! I guess I would see the fact that he didn't come up with a ridiculous cover story as demonstrative of growth, except that he DID do that, in the first timeline--which was still OUR Oliver--so no points will be awarded.
-
I'm pretty sure all he's saying there is a series of "whats" and "whys."

Back to the MG interview, this cracked me up: Ohhhh! So a fictional character whose actions and feelings you direct will have dialogue that you wrote that will back up another of your writing choices??? Well, then consider the case closed! I mean, he really does sound here like he's saying that an objective third-party has passed judgment and found Oliver innocent. No. Look, I think this person can only be Donna or Dig, because no one else on this show can speak with integrity and/or authority on the notion of keeping secrets, especially w/r/t a child. And I'm open to that because I need to stay sympathetic to Oliver and I need whatever support and arguments are available to bring Felicity back around, too. But if MG thinks that because other characters may understand Oliver's choice, that makes it okay, he is quite wrong.

Yeah, DD looked at Thea and kinda made a "hmm" noise, like something was clicking for him.

I really enjoyed the whole thing, tbh, and wouldn't miss a moment of Mark Hamill hamilling it up for anything. And I too am sick of Joe/Barry taking precedence over Joe/Iris every time, but I didn't even really care that much this episode because Candice was so stunning. She's, IMO, the strongest female actress in the Flarrowverse and she killed her scenes. I felt second-hand embarrassment to shift from that incredibly strong first scene with CP/GG to the Caitlin/Jay scene that was so flat.

That's a coat on the back of her chair, right? Hmmmmmmm.

Most of the F/F couples on that list are canon--Korrasami, Clexa, Hollstein. If you leave off the Real Person Ships (and I wish Tumblr had done that, because...let's not), you're down to Destiel, Stucky, Johnlock, SwanQueen, Sterek, and maybe Ereri (I really know nothing about AoT) for non-canon same-sex ships. The first five are some of the most popular ships on the internet. I'm not surprised that would be reflected on Tumblr of all places and I really find nothing strange about it. -
I'm going to Hamilton in June, and I would love it if I could squeeze Waitress in while I'm there too.
