I was kind of hoping that if they were to pair Amaya up with anyone, it would be Mick. Obviously they're not going that route. But it did hit me this week, once we *finally* got more Mick/Ray interaction (and God, did I miss it!), that I kind of ship them too. You'll never see it happen - DC is more likely to greenlight a romance between Mick and Supergirl - but I can't help but think it'd be fun to watch on screen.

Tomorrow Today: Media & Behind The Scenes Of LOT

ÌEvery show, period. Can you imagine how he'd describe The Leftovers? Or Keeping Up With the Kardashians? Maybe we need a "Deep Thoughts on Pop Culture, by Mick Rory" thread. Just for fun. -
Don't know how they handle that in the comics, but I'm guessing "I will not kill" means "if I get you into my clutches I'll put you in custody instead of beating you to death with my bare hands in a blind rage." So he wouldn't throw you off a building, but he might not rush over to save you if you're hanging by your fingertips and he'd probably be non-interfering if Black Widow did it instead. So I don't think "I will not kill" means he thinks these guys shouldn't die due to some moral repugnance with the notion. He's quite fine with letting the world (including other people) deal out harsh consequences, but he knows he can't cross that line himself without turning into the kind of monster he's committed to stopping. So the rule is for himself, not to save the people he's fighting. Batman doesn't care if you die, but he's not going to damn himself by killing you.

In truth, though, the only "couple-y" stuff in the episode were the settings (e.g. the use of Civil Wars' "Dust to Dust" playing in the restaurant) and the plot (trope-y). At no time did either Crawford or Brewster play their characters as having even an inkling of romantic interest in one another; the only thing that grew was Riggs' respect for her and their friendship. That suggests to me that they have no intentions of pulling that trigger for quite a while, and might even decide not to pull it at all as they didn't do anything here they can't walk back if they want to. I don't particularly ship them but the idea of it doesn't ruin the show for me. And I did like the extra insight into the shrink. It was a good episode for her.

Spoilers & Speculation: Running Hot & Cold

I will stand up and applaud if that happens! Forgot to ask: where's the pic from? -
Well, if nothing else, it helps me understand why the casting director was doomed from the start. "Get me Jason Momoa with Benedict Cumberbatch's voice!" could be a season-long MacGuffin on the show.
-
Yes, @MarkHB, that's what I meant. I know they wouldn't get those guys, I just wanted to get an idea of what he might look like in the minds of fans who knew the character.

I'm excited to see Nygma go full Riddler, but I'm here for the brief glimpse of Bruce street-fighting in the promo. He looked so *small*, and it makes me anxious for how he's really going to pull this off... I love the idea of looking at the story from the "early days" angle; it's not really anything I've seen done before in a live-action Batman movie/show. He's always just kind of there, kicking ass. I doubt we'll see that on Gotham - A, it's encroaching on the movie franchise, and B, they're going to want to work with David Mazouz instead of an older actor. But now that they've introduced Superman on the show Supergirl, I think it's at least possible that Gotham will be allowed to show Mazouz as a kind of proto-Batman, learning the ropes and slowing transforming into classic Batman. The long Neo-ish coat is a good choice to suggest the costume without the cape. Look forward to him getting a mask as well. Maybe, to fit in sensors for enhanced hearing or something, Lucius can add two little pointy ears at the top....

Thats kind of the sense i got as well, from the way people talked about the character. Would Dwayne Johnson work as well? Assuming he was more "The Rock" and less "The Tooth Fairy"?

Like Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure! I need to see this now. So question for those who are more well-versed in comics lore than I am: Despite any writing issues, it was a truth almost universally acknowledged that Caspar Crump was miscast as Vandal Savage. Who would have been the right person to cast? Looks-wise and personality-wise, if they can't be found in the same actor.

I didn't watch Arrow until this year, and the only time I've seen these characters is on this show or if they happened to be on Flash. That said, I did watch the episodes of Arrow last year that were involved in crossovers. I wouldn't say I have an understanding as great as those who've been there since the beginning, but I think I have the gist of who these guys are and I don't feel as though I'm left behind somehow or that some thing's lacking. The interplay between Dhark and Merlyn was enjoyable even without knowledge of their previous history.

Spoilers & Speculation: Running Hot & Cold

If "Doomworld" is essentially a look at The Universe According to The Legion if they used the Spear (or perhaps because they did use the Spear), then maybe all the women are in T&A "comics" costumes as a sly commentary on women's roles in that medium? -
There are a fair number of reviews online. AV Club and IGN are the big ones I know about, but there are a fair number of blogs too. I've thought about posting links in the media thread, as another way of fostering discussion here.

Spoilers & Speculation: Running Hot & Cold
Miss Dee replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in Legends Of Tomorrow
I agree Amaya seems too focused and purposeful to do that during a mission - I suppose she and Nate could bond during the mission and it happens when she gets back? Still.... At the same time, in the last three episodes there's been a plot point or at least a comment touching on the fact she wants revenge against the speedster for killing Rex Tyler, thus reminding the audience about his presence and role in her life. For me, that doesn't really jive with her jumping into bed with Nate all of a sudden without prior warning. She seems to me to be the type who'd have trouble moving on until she was able to put it to rest. If they'd built up some kind of attraction over the last few episodes and then she did that, at least it'd make logical sense as a distraction or something. There's something off somewhere. Nate and Amaya have had less build-up then Ray and Kendra, which is saying something. At this point a mind-whammy is the only thing that makes sense to me. Maybe the Legion zap them with something to pull their focus during the mission? -
Spoilers & Speculation: Running Hot & Cold

So, knowing what we know about the apparently hot-and-heavy love scene coming up in the next episode....is anybody seeing *anything* between Nate and Amaya that would suggest they'd be bumping uglies at the first opportunity? Because I've been looking and I gotta tell ya... I'm stumped. If I squint I can see the writers sort of hinting at Amaya and Ray in the George Lucas episode, but I can't see any kind of connection with Nate that's stronger than we've seen her have with Ray or Mick, or even Jax. -
I'm kinda rooting for Mick to join the Legion now. I have a feeling they would have more respect for him than his current teammates do. Granted, he's not doing himself any favours with his behaviour - he's never been written on this show to be as cruel to anyone defenseless before as he was with that "fake person" crap - but it'd be kind of nice to know someone cared enough to go deeper and find out what the hell is going on with him, without having to be threatened into it first. The guy used to be Chronos for crying out loud, and now he can barely use the English language? The guy who never met a joke or a quip he couldn't crack? That's just not right. And his teammates are acting like they can't stand him at all, even Amaya, who was all cozy friends with him *two freaking episodes ago*! And you wouldn't know Ray even knew the guy, much less had a broship brewing ever since Episode 5 in the first season! What the hell?! I really hope this is leading up to something, because otherwise it looks like Mick has not only lost every single bit of character growth he earned last year - don't think I don't remember that he actually torched his family in an accident, Show, *not* in fit of maniacal glee - but has now actually regressed way past where he was when he joined the Legends to start with. Which is all fine if there's a point to it besides "Eh, we like him better as a villain so we're just gonna pretend all that never happened, mkay?" If it leads to a breakthrough in his personal growth or his relationships or something, fire away. But don't backtrack on what was possibly your most promising character arc (together with Snart) last year because you suddenly have a bunch of shiny new toys and more respect from the blogosphere. Dance with the one what brung ya, Show! *sigh* Suddenly I feel a lot of solidarity with Felicity, Laurel and Sara fans. Watching these shows is not much fun when you're not sure the writers see your favourite character the way you do and you don't quite trust them to do right by him/her. I really kind of wish I hadn't gotten so interested in Mick as a character and could take a more balanced view of the show. I've become one of those posters I hate, the kind with tunnel vision. I apologize! Oh, wait - I do have something non-Mick related to say! I just had to get that stuff off my chest first. While I enjoyed the banter between the villains, I can't forget they're the *villains* and I can't root for them - because watching them torture Rip was somehow really, really hard. I don't think I realized how much I liked Rip as a character until they started in on him, and while I never wanted him off the Waverider I'm now looking forward to his joining the team and finding his new dynamic with them with great alacrity. I also liked Lily and the chemistry she had with Ray.

What made it better: the immediate smash cut to Mick saying, "You're all idiots."

S03.E14: Mad City: The Gentle Art of Making Enemies
Miss Dee replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in Gotham
I look forward to his reviews, even though we're pretty much 180 degrees apart on what we like about this show. (Except for Harvey. Everyone loves Harvey.) I forgot to say that the scene with the house of mirrors where Jerome is following Bruce's voice and then Bruce appears behind him in all the mirrors was such a Batman moment. I may or may not have screamed "BABY BATMAN!!" at that point as well. And I loved the way Bruce was framed in front of the rising sun as he works his way towards his first rule. Something is dawning, indeed. I really don't care if it flies in the face of canon - this show would be so much better if they started concentrating on Bruce building the Batman alter-ego and legend right now as a teenager. Forget going off to train with the League of Shadows first; Alfred's enough of a badass to keep up that part of it. Let Bruce learn his lessons on the killing streets of Gotham, one blood drop at a time. He can share screen time with Gordon as it dawns on him he's fighting a losing battle. Not to mention the fun of Gordon trying to chase down the shadowy figure rumored to exist on Gotham streets.... So many stories begin with Batman already established; this is the show's chance to build that legend and show us the story "before" full-on Batman, even as they're building Gordon and the villains. How does Bruce make the decisions for Batman to turn out like he does? That's where this show is fascinating for me. -
I can't help it; Mon-El completely cracks me up. That actor is a treasure. Not feeling him and Supergirl, but if he continues to be funny like this I'll go with it. (Although Kara? Mick's a funny guy too. Just putting that out there.) James' arc isn't bothering me like most of you. I like Mehcad Brooks and I like the idea of Supergirl having to deal with ordinary human beings getting inspired to be superheroes all on their own. I really wish Alex or Oliver had heard that "humans can't be heroes" remark; either could have shut that down cold. But I'm glad she made it; it makes sense that Kara would be a little arrogant at this point, training super powered people to do what she does. Other than Clark, she is the most powerful being that she knows of in *any* universe - and she hasn't been at this very long herself. She has room to grow, and I Iike that. J'onn and M'gann were very sweet. They've got a treasure trove with David Harewood. I wondered why they kept their human forms on their home planet (real reason being the special effects budget), but I fanwanked this was their subconscious way of distancing themselves from the memories they must have been overwhelmed with at that moment.

And we have to remember Rex goes to the Legends to start with because "Mr. Rory" told him to. That was to tell the Legends not to go back to the New York of his time - although, knowing what the Legends are like, it's entirely possible "Mr. Rory" told Rex to tell them *not* to go because he knew that'd guarantee they'd end up there. -

I suck at embedding images, but if you look up episode 2x10 on the Legends page of www.spoilertv.com, you'll see it there. There's six so far - the other five are of Rip with the Legion. -

I'm really curious about that promo picture with Lily, Mick and Ray. The stance of Mick and Lily is that of two people getting in each other's face, and Ray is in the background looking like he's on his way over to try and calm things down. Wonder what that's all about? And how ballsy is Lily to get in the face of a big, aggressive guy like Mick? I really, really hope I like her. And that she doesn't get erased... FROM EXISTENCE!! (/DocBrown) -
I read somewhere that basically the Legion is essentially the Legends, just based in evil. Thawne is the anti-Rip, going around recruiting people. That kind of set-up might actually work better for an ensemble show like this; you can cycle out your leader and your followers same as the heroes, and even have some change sides.
