  1. "Save each other." I got more teary-eyed than I do at This is Us. Bravo, Gotham. When you wear your heart on your sleeve, you're extra. I loved that we got another appearance by Bratman, insisting on his rich boy rights and then crocodile tears to distract Harper from seeing Selina. When Ben McKenzie directs, you know you're gonna get: 1) amazing cinematography and lighting and directing choices, and 2) excellent treatment for both Bruce and Jim. I thought, far from staying estranged, that the ice thawed a lot between Jim and Harvey tonight. I've never really gotten the vibe between Selina and Bruce, although I never opposed them either - but hot damn, their scenes tonight were electric. Compare them to the overwrought mess that is relationships on Riverdale (for one) - BatCat are miles ahead in terms of tension, depth and breadth.
  2. And yet: ONE BATHROOM. I'm sorry, I can't get over that aspect of the ship design....
  3. I love Mick with all my heart, but watching Zari school him was fantastic. She really doesn't have the patience for his kind of bullshit, and it's so rare we get to see Mick completely frazzled that the whole C plot was a sheer delight. I hope we get to see more of them as a dynamic.
  4. I think the fact she was scientifically gifted makes her a good candidate for a time-travelling group - it's not hard to imagine her grasping the concept quickly, helping them solve problems, being innovative, etc. while still being somewhat historically accurate as to her character.
  5. Speaking of Adam Tsekhman: anyone check him out of Twitter? Daaammmn, Gary is one fine-looking dude!
  6. All that being true: not holding any of it against Jes McCallan's portrayal now. Girl is working it. Watching her touch Constantine with one cringing finger convinced me I wanted her around regardless of what happens with Sara.
  7. Huh. So maybe Constantine hangs out with the Legends in 4A, learns that Friendship is Magic and then takes that lesson to his own animated or live-action show.
  8. Mick more or less follows Sara's orders when it suits him, even though it's clear he respects her as the boss. So I can see Constantine being much the same. Or maybe it'll be a point that he doesn't follow her orders or doesn't like to, and he'll have to learn to acquiesce. In any case, I agree the last episode made me think he can gel with the rest of the cast if the writers can write him correctly (and honestly, I'm so into this season they're pretty much hitting all the right notes for me). Assuming Constantine isn't being written in so they can write Mick out without losing viewers, maybe they want Mick to be more of a team player next season (albeit a "wild and crazy guy" type of team player), so Constantine will fill the "there's a distinct possibility this guy will turn on us at any time" role.
  9. There had better be a joke about the Care Bear Stare if they go that route....
  10. Oh, I think Mick felt guilty. When Amaya and Zari were seeing to Ray in the med bay, Mick muttered something to himself like, "I take one lousy nap...." He knew it was his fault, and he actually admitted it out loud. This time he couldn't tell himself it was because Haircut's too trusting anyway, or has lousy people-reading skills, or Sara's Death Wish persona, or anything external - he lost his patience, left Ray alone in the lab, and took a nap. And Ray got hurt. Because he took a nap. Never mind that it wouldn't have made a damn bit of difference if he'd been there as Sara would have damaged them both. I think that sentence to himself shows that in his own mind he knows he should have been there to protect Ray. And he was extra surly and mean with everyone, because that's his default mode when he's emotional and can't handle it. He stayed that way right up until Amaya urged him to take the fire totem - to which his response was that he wasn't good enough to take the totem, that if a totem can corrupt Sara it'll take him. I think his frame of mind was affected by his guilt, because instead of being a good teammate he took a nap. And Ray got hurt. And remember: it wasn't that long ago Haircut himself told him he was a good man, and believed it so much that he put his own life on the line to try and rescue another person he thought could be redeemed. Because he believed in Mick's true nature that much. That same guy asked Mick to keep him company in the lab...and Mick left him. To take a nap. And Ray got hurt. And speaking of that: Mick initially didn't want to go on the Russian mission. Where he'd have to rescue a dog. An animal - and this shortly after losing his pet last week. Another innocent creature under his watch, gone. He's still hurting over that. And you can bet your ass Ray knew it. That's why he jumped in to say that he could use Mick and for Mick to stay with him. He didn't need Mick! He was dealing with a toaster oven and a bauble! There was nothing physical he needed Mick's brawn for, and the suggestion Ray Palmer would have needed him for science reasons is laughable. Nope: Ray was looking out for his Buddy and protecting his heart when that buddy couldn't express his emotional needs for himself. And in return, what does he do? Leave Ray alone in the lab because he can't stand Ray's sciencing at him. To take a nap. And Ray got hurt. You can bet your friggin' ass Mick feels guilty as hell.
  11. Oh God, Dominic Purcell is leaving, isn't he? That's the only reason they would drop something this big withoit even securing the renewal first. Never mind me... I'm just here in the corner... locked in the fetal position... keening....
  12. Review of "Amazing Grace" by Mikey Heinrich at Doux Reviews. If you don't already check out these reviews, you should - they're remarkably in-depth, funny, and insightful. The reviewer is a true fan.
  13. I love the idea that the Ava we saw in the premiere is different than the one who got to know Sara in Ep 9. Maybe the Time Bureau is experimenting with uploading human consciousness into android bodies, so if they lose a soldier they can somehow keep them around. (It can't be easy recruiting people with the right potential without messing up the timeline, and they did suffer a big loss when Dhark came back.) Or maybe it's AIs getting uploaded into android bodies, and Ava is the consciousness of another ship. And this is how they're gonna explain adding Amy Pemberton in the flesh next season....
  14. Television could not contain the supernova of charisma that would come from Alfred and Mick Rory meeting and teaming up. Our television sets, phones, computers and pads would short out from the awesomeness. Best to leave things as they are.
  15. I thought that's what happened too. Based on the ending of the episode and the promo: the entire point might have been for the Legends to obtain it. Think about it: if the Death Totem caused one of the Legends to obliterate the others, Dhark and co. might think it's just a matter then of coming in and cleaning up. The Legends don't know how to work the Fire Totem and it's broken in any case; Amaya doesn't have hers. They're probably banking on Zari being no match for Death Totem + Dhark magic + a Mallused-up Nora.
  16. Trevor Noah does an "The Celebrity Appresident" segment where he covers the hiring a and firings of the White House. Maybe Legal had to make sure Colbert's segment covering the same material was dissimilar enough to air.
  17. Good Beebo - the red hair and those blue eyes and freckles? Gotta tell y'all: straight, not blind. And that pic's half-making me reconsider the "straight" part.
  18. Friends, "The One with the Prom Video". So I'm the only one thinking the future "Her" is an Alzheimer's-stricken Beth or Rebecca? (Unless Randall and Tess are psyching themselves up to go see Annie or Deja on the stripper pole.)
  19. As a card-carrying Christian: no issues with dancing to Amazing Grace. Y'all do you. That friend = me and Legends. I realized with this episode I'm way more invested in Nate/Amaya than I thought. Huh. All the Ray/Mick scenes we've been getting: keep 'em coming! (Just don't kill one of them off, or I'll haunt you like Elvis's brother.)
  20. I know it was just auto-correct, but the irony in your last statement is marvellous.
  21. Eh, there could be a computer which shows tomorrow's online news stories instead of today's. And it only happens on that computer. Some outdated thing that takes forever to boot up and was going to the trash heap.
  22. After Wonder Woman, I trust Patty Jenkins. I remember the WTF reactions when Heath Ledger was cast as The Joker too (that was mine - I thought Nolan had lost his mind).
  23. Granted, I'm not the type that's into horror movies or anything, but: Faceless Bruce was one of the creepiest fucking things I've seen in a long time.
  24. "Doing Her Best" Barbie and "Attainable Car" made me laugh until I cried. Colbert has been on fire this week.
  25. I will never understand why "Bratman" didn't become a thing during Bruce's douche phase.
