Maybe the only reason Sara can wield it without total corrpution/destruction is because she died. Some sort of Harry Potter thing. -

The guy who ends up spoiling whole episodes on Reddit dropped a bit of info on 3x15 that might shed some light on this. I'll put it in spoiler tags because it's a genuine spoiler, not carefully leaked stuff, but the mods can change that if they want. -
I wasn't feeling this episode either, but then the A.V. Club review pointed out that in mood, colour, transitions, etc. it was very similar to a Coen brothers movie. I don't like their movies, so that explains that. As well, Dhark's wig is because young Dhark was echoing Anton Chigurh in No Country for Old Men.

I'm fanwanking Mick immediately volunteered for the Grateful Dead assignment thinking they'd get Ray fast. And when it didn't happen and they couldn't find him, he turned to beer to ease his breaking heart. You can't stop me! I don't know how the hell Arrow managed to screw up Ray (supposedly; I didn't watch then), but my Grodd, Ray is a perfect cinnamon roll of a man and I want to love him and squeeze him and call him George.

I've loved that piece when I first heard it on this episode. DOS made me fall in love with Charles Emerson Winchester. Rest in peace, sir. *sniff* -

More Mick Rory character development. I AM HERE FOR THIS. Writers, let's do something novel this season and have Mick decide he is NOT going to betray his teammates. 'Kay? -

It's Mick, so both at the same time. He could pull that off. -

What I love about this is that based on their personalities you would expect it to be the other way around. -
Someone on Reddit compared Legends to Community, because of the callbacks and ensemble chemistry and genre-exploration and general zaniness. I thought that was a particularly apt comparison. Community didn't have a big fanbase either, but the fanbase it did have was extremely invested and adored the show and its creators.

DCTV's gonna do Avengers 3 before Marvel does. I freaking love it. -
I did indeed, @Mellowyellow. I did indeed. The rare times they interact are played for laughs (like the very funny scene in the laundry), so it was really nice to get a scene like last night's. Besides, Mick offered to share his beer with Ray. A gesture like that, he might as well have written "Will you go to the prom with me?" on the side. ?

S03.E12: The Curse Of The Earth Totem

Man, after teasing me with their friendship this episode, them writers better NOT have Mick be all cavalier about Ray being missing next episode. That woukd be so, SO frustrating. But as this is the first time in almost 2 seasons the two characters have actually had a serious scene together, I'm crossing my fingers it was put in there for buildup. -

I honestly had lower expectations for this episode. The last three episodes have been so fantastic, there's just no way they could keep up that momentum. And while the plot wasn't as inspired or as wild as they have been lately - and how could it? - I did enjoy this one, because of the personal interactions. Hell, Even Ava and Gary sparkled. Finally a Mick front-and-centre episode! I thought Mick was great in this one. Loved how he used his storytelling talents that we discovered last episode, and I hope we get to see more of Mick using his imagination and improv skills to bullshit the Legends out of (or into) trouble. He feels as much at home on a pirate ship as Ray feels in Camelot. I don't think I realized just how much I missed their interaction until this episode, but it hit me all over again that Purcell and Richardson-Sellers have fantastic chemistry. I love how Purcell softens up his entire person somehow from the inside whenever he interacts with Amaya. He's not noticeably doing anything different, he still feels like big brash Mick, yet you can immediately tell there's an openness and honesty with Amaya you don't see with anyone else, and how much of his persona is really an act when he's with the others. And I can't even tell you how Purcell's doing it, I just know he is. He's a really talented actor. And I love how Amaya confides in Mick and shows her vulnerabilities and fears even when she strives to keep her "cool" persona with the others. This was a great episode for Maisie; usually the character has to be so guarded, and she was just shining here. I felt so bad for Sara when her night got cut short! And I loved how nervous and sweet both she and Ava were on their first "real" date. I think the writers realized they overstepped with the antagonism with Ava at the beginning, and used the Beebo episode to course-correct. Since then this couple has been so much fun to watch. Little things: --I loved how Ray and Nate were dressed in pirate garb when piloting the ship. --Rip singing "Careless Whisper" was amazing. I so want a demoralized, not-giving-a-shit and living-for-the-moment Rip to join the Waverider again as a crew member who's just along for the ride. --I liked how Blackbeard wasn't a Jack Sparrow ripoff, but was still in the same vein. I know I've seen that actor before. --Still half-suspecting Ray to be related to the Dharks, Luke-Skywalker-style. All in all: while not a stellar episode, the characters and their interactions and relationships are still the best in the Arrowverse, and it's still amazing that every single episode of Legends since the Season 2 premiere has been enjoyable. ...And then I get a lovely Raymick scene with all the couple-y ones, so yeah, this episode is now an A again. Sue me. -

Well, @Starfish35, with that kind of intro how can I refuse?? *proceeds to watch* ETA: LOLOL Mick is starting to put his wily story-writing imagination to use in missions, I see! Maisie's "Why is everyone looking at me?!" was pretty funny. -

*gasp* Mick gets a chance to save Elvis! Didn't he want to do that in an earlier episode? -
LOL We'd all make an exception for our own particular soft spot, wouldn't we? I too am quite happy with the thought of romance being verboten on LoT...but you'd better believe I'd change my tune fast if they hinted at something between Mick and Ray. Of course, the difference is in the odds of something happening. Rip and Sara? Plausible. Could happen maybe towards the show's endgame. Mick and Ray...plausible, if set up with care. Not gonna happen in a million years.* *And yet, there'll always be a tiny mustard seed of hope that I'm wrong....

I know, @wingster55 - it's just a weird feeling I have. They've been emphasizing Ray's goodness and light so much this season, and spoilers have Ray feeling guilty about something in Ep 12 and then having to work with Dhark and Nora in Ep 13. And then I think about them all laughing about what could possibly be worse than what they've already faced with the Legion and Savage - I don't think that moment was put in there by accident. Having their sweetest member break bad (either through psychological manipulation or magic) so they have to turn on him would break their collective hearts (and ours)...like watching Frodo break and give into The Ring. All this with Sara could be a red herring. I joked on Reddit that in Ep 13 Ray will get Luke Skywalkered and find out Damien is his real father.
