  1. Did you see the Erika's new confessional look in the second half of the episode? I believe she's wearing royal blue. She looked . . .. distinctly different. Not bad, but like a different person. Her eyes in particular. Wonder if she doesn't have the money to upkeep that unnaturally line-less face of hers anymore.
  2. I know Kyle gets a lot of hate, but I've always liked her for this reason. She at least seems the most "real" to me of any of these people. Dorit, Lisa R. and Erika are complete phonies, sharing only select aspects of their lives that they think make them look better. Kyle has always let it hang out there. I will admit I also like the Richards because I am one of 3 sisters. It's a dynamic that I get, although thank goodness I have not had anywhere near the drama or family dysfunction with my two sisters. But scenes of the sisters cracking each other up have always been some of my favorites. No one can make you laugh and also leave you seething with rage like your sister. Often both within the span of 20 minutes!
  3. Yeah, I think they're cluing us in to the fact that The White Lotus isn't quite as nice as they pretend to be. The room mixup, the lack of activities for the father and son, the one-bedroom suites (which, while certainly more expensive than I what could afford, don't actually look that amazing), I even chuckled at the manager bringing Shane and Rachael the free bottle of Veuve Clicquot. If these are super VIP guests, I'd think only Dom or Cristal would be acceptable. And yes, I realize that's super nitpicky, just wondering if it's a deliberate choice. I'm assuming the Four Seasons is actually much nicer.
  4. I don't think I've ever hated a character as much as that daughter! So good job to the writers on that one, because I do think that's the point. Her friend is marginally better, but not by much. I really can't stand rich kids who complain about their parents' career choices while also benefiting from said careers. I have become fixated on the fact that this family has a 1-bedroom suite. I do really feel for the brother.
  5. I wish we were getting more guest drama this season. It's been pretty minimal. They seem to have wised up to not being too demanding or obnoxious in front of the cameras. Too bad, that's always been one of my favorite parts of this show.
  6. Yeah, my mom broke her wrist right before my parents' trip to Hawaii a couple years ago. The doctor fixed her up with a waterproof cast so she could still enjoy her vacation. Agree with everyone that Tom is ridiculous and a whiny diva. Looks like he picked up more than cooking skills from Gordon Ramsay. Maybe I'm spoiled by the gymnastics they do over at Top Chef, but his inability to pivot and put together something different than the frozen halibut was pretty shocking. Chefs have to make changes all the time, and it wasn't like these guests declared they must have fresh halibut at their first meal or they're out. Ridiculously rigid. I really dislike Malia, but was willing to give Tom a chance initially. No more. Jess is also ridiculous. A good portion of the crew's job is to be friendly to the guests, and yeah, maybe even engage in a little light flirting. Jess has done so with male guests. Her seeing red every time Rob talks to another woman - yeah, that's going to go well. I can't imagine Bali, if it happened, went well.
  7. In Anthony Bourdain's book "Kitchen Confidential" he has special disdain for celebrities or with no chef training or restaurant experience opening places as vanity projects. All the things he talks about, Sandy's quote seems to illustrate why.
  8. Similarly, why travel to Spain and then ask the British chef to make you tapas? Of course, that's an ongoing pet peeve of mine with this show. The guests are in these exotic locations and yet prefer dining on the yacht with familiar foods, as opposed to trying the cuisines of where they're visiting. But that's just me.
  9. Of course, I'm sure skanky old Pete would be glad to help a girl out. 😉 Maybe that's part of the reaosn she's feeling lonely. I do find Aesha a bit much from time to time, but overall she seems easy to work with and great with the guests. If I were on a super yacht, I'd want someone like her serving me. Whereas Hannah not-so-covertly rolled her eyes at the guests half the time, Aesha enthusiastically jumps into to doing pretty much whatever the guests want and actually enjoys herself. Tom really is an asshole, jeez. He is wound so tight, any little thing seems to send him flying into a rage.
  10. OMG, would love to see the Summer House crew on a yacht! Summer House is seriously underrated, I wish more people knew how good it is. It makes me sad to think they didn't film this summer. 😞
  11. Yep. Don't get me wrong - I despised him in the episodes he appeared in, and they edited him out for good reasons. But this season is a total snooze. Casting has really gone off the rails, and its main problem is that it's boring. All gone: Pete - an asshole, who would've brought plenty of drama if not edited out. Hannah - a not so great chief stew, but good for stirring up fights and gossip between the crew. Also her ongoing power struggle with Sandy, love it or hate it, has been a source of plot for several seasons. Her talking heads were also like 1/3 of the show. Kiko - sweet, funny, maybe a bit scattered in the kitchen, but a likable personality that I was rooting for. Instead you have Pete erased, a boring Bugsy, who may be good at her job, but brings very little to the show, and Tom, again someone who may be a good chef, but is clearly not interested in any type of drama. You know it's bad when I was excited to annoying Aesha show up. But then even she seems bored and glum. And the couple drama is not enough to keep me interested. Even the guests these past couple seasons have seemed to wise up that they're on camera, and don't bring anywhere near the level of demands and complaints they used to.
  12. IIRC, Luann already had that Sag Harbor house, but when she bought the round house, she was in dispute with her kids about it. They stepped in to stop her from selling it. We've seen that house before, when Dorinda flipped out on Sonja at brunch, when Sonja compared the end of her marriage to the end of Dorinda's. I think the whole "upstate is my haven" was a line of BS for her to cover up the fact that she was fighting with her kids over the Sag Harbor house.
  13. Yeah, and Sonja has always had this jealousy streak with Tinsley, going back to when Tinsley stayed with her. They sort of made up but it was always simmering beneath the surface. Like Dorinda, she seems somewhat jealous of Tinsley's life, and so she was quick to jump on Dorinda's side in this mess.
  14. I think we also saw why Tinsley left mid-season, and I don't blame her. Why put up with that, especially when the other ladies barely defended Tinsley? My guess is that as bad as what we saw on camera, there was probably worse behavior that we did not see.
  15. See, I think maybe Dorinda quit because they've been getting closer and closer to that nerve this season. Even someone seemingly lacking in self-awareness like Dorinda would have to pause when seeing herself on camera this year. I think she's cutting and running before she has to really confront who she is and what's going on with her. I've always had mixed feelings about Dorinda - she had the capability of being smart and insightful at times, and yes, at times I found her drunken antics entertaining if not also disturbing. But I also know it's a sign of a huge problem, and at some point, the disturbing part starts to outweigh the entertaining part. She needs help and that pseudo-chiropractor-life coach she went to a few weeks ago is not it.
  16. Just heard an interview with Hannah on Danny Pellegrino's podcast, where she talked about this. It wasn't shown, but apparently Sandy didn't think the prescription on the box was sufficient "proof" and also wanted a piece of paper or some doctor's note. Which is ridiculous, by the way. Hannah also said that, although she had already left the boat, her doctor did send over the second proof of prescription a couple days later. The other thing Hannah said is that she's had this prescription before in previous seasons, so yes, while she does own up to not properly registering the info with Sandy this time around, it's not like Sandy wasn't aware that Hannah takes valium for her anxiety. She said she talked about it openly over the past couple of seasons.
  17. As far as I could tell, he made some remark about "well, guess I'll have to throw out the potatoes too" and Bugsy did just that - put the potatoes in the garbage. But turns out he was just being sarcastic/complaining and so then he yelled at Bugsy for doing what he said. This should be fun to watch him the next few weeks. Kind of hoping he blames Malia and dumps her! When he was complaining to Malia about this being a mistake, I'm wondering if it didn't have to do with remaking the food as much as being on reality tv and possibly having his food and relationships with others be subjected to producer shenanigans. I wasn't convinced all those problems with dinner and the guests sprung about organically. (even though they do seem like awful guests. That older chatty guy was disgusting!)
  18. ITA. If anything, someone with a mental illness who is *unmedicated* is more likely to cause a disruption than someone who regularly takes meds to manage their symptoms. Add on top Sandy bringing up Hannah's panic attack as a reason she isn't comfortable with her, even though literally no one on board was affected by it, and it just adds to the stigma. Shame on Sandy, shame on Bravo. Also I had to laugh at the ridiculous phrase Sandy used about not being comfortable "going out to sea" with Hannah. Oh FFS, they go like a few miles. We're not exactly talking about explorers on a sailboat headed to America in the 1400s. 🙄
  19. Yes! I work with patients. Even if you get pass my passwords, you can't just jump on my computer and find them. There's a whole system that you have to log into that is not that easy to navigate. I was also annoyed at the doctor friend in that scene for being so stupid to leave Elena in there. As if she doesn't know Elena well enough to know what she'll do? Not very smart for a doctor!
  20. It wasn't the 90s, it was the early 80s, when Pearl was born, around 1982? (just based on her age in 1997) Surrogacy as we know it today was still in its infancy, although I assume has probably been around informally for a long time. The first big surrogacy court case that I remember was around 1986, with Baby M. Basically the surrogate mother wanted the baby, and went back on the their contract. The couple kept custody of the baby, but the surrogate mother was granted visitation rights.
  21. Yeah, the more I watch this show the less I feel the desire to charter a super yacht (probably not in my budget anyway, LOL). If I were spending that much money on a vacation, I'd want to wake up and have breakfast ready to go. No taking orders and waiting. I really like Kiko, but I'd be annoyed by portion sizes and waiting too. If I'm paying that much for a vacation, I want a lot of food available at all times. 😂 Like have snacks out, have meals already teed up, etc.
  22. Oooh, definitely do! I'm jealous that you get to watch it for the first time. a re-watch of Bethenny's show, with what we know now, would be darkly fascinating. I really enjoyed it at the time. Exhausting as she may be, Bethenny is hilarious and knows how to bring it to reality shows. I think it's available on Peacock now. For a long time it was scrubbed from the Bravo universe offerings.
  23. I've always loved Hannah's room (the pink and white one). It's feminine without being too little girl.
  24. That's interesting. Wonder how long that will last. It kind of cancels my theory that part of the reason Denise seems to have it out for Kyle right now is because she was being fed information and/or getting riled up by Brandi. I guess, knowing Brandi, that could still be true. . . Don't hate me, but I've kind of taken a turn on Sutton. Initially I hated her. But she's just cuckoo enough that perhaps she could bring something interesting. Alternatively super mean followed by super sensitive. And her ridiculous wardrobe. She could be entertaining is all I'm saying. Of course, who knows how much we'll see of her in the future with whatever filming/legal issues happened with her.
  25. LOL. Dare I ask what was so objectionable about a sweater twin set to her? 😂
