I had the same thought. As servants, they weren't really in the position to do much. Maybe some of them that were closer to the boy, but the cook or the dishwasher? What could they have done?! Luke Evans has actually said that as part of the backstory they created for Gaston, they decided that he suffers from PTSD, and that's where a lot of his bursts of rage come from. Although it's strange that flashing back to the war would then make him calm down. That doesn't make sense to me. But I also heard that Luke and Josh completely improvised that scene, so the whole "blood, widows" thing was just something that Josh came up with. I saw the movie for a second time yesterday. Still loved it! I also stayed to the very end of the credits this time. Josh Groban's version of Evermore was very pretty. Also, I just love how they did the credits. The slow moving portraits, like a painting come to life, and then the oil paint backgrounds and the silhouettes were so beautiful. I just read that the President of Production at Disney said they are looking at possible prequel and spinoff scenarios for the movie! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a Gaston and LeFou prequel!

Spoiler Discussion: The apple was poisoned?!

Maybe he somehow overhears Hook telling Nemo the secret. I just hope Gideon doesn't literally torpedo the nautilus with Nemo and Liam 2.0 on board. :( I'm surprised no one's talking about the latest script tease. Snow and Emma finally have a conversation! -
These are some added lyrics: Some of the lyrics they removed are:

Spoiler Discussion: The apple was poisoned?!

Nooo, don't do that! Just skip to the very end to watch Killian getting down on one knee and to see a very happy Emma. -
I think they were Siberian wolves. If they had gotten loose, they definitely would have killed people. I thought Jackson shot them because they were about to attack him and Reid.

The dress grab was part of the promo clip that they showed when Luke appeared on the Ellen show, so I watched it quite a few times before seeing the movie. When I first saw it, it made me laugh and I thought it was a nice bit of physical comedy. To me, it reminded me of a child tugging on their mother's dress to get their attention. He didn't so much pull her closer, but used the dress to pull him closer to her. I thought it was just him not knowing how to behave correctly, and showing that he was so confident in knowing that they should be together. He totally overstepped his bounds, but I didn't see it as being sexually aggressive like others did. Although I can see how people could see it that way. If they had kept the scene from the animated version, of Gaston pinning Belle against the door, that would have been very uncomfortable to watch. One thing that confused me is why Gaston was smiling so much after she rejected him. Maybe it just shows how delusional he is. It's been two days, and I still have the songs stuck in my head!

OUAT vs. Other Fairy Tales: Compare & Contrast
pezgirl7 replied to Camera One's topic in Once Upon A Time
LOL I actually didn't think of OUAT at all, and I also didn't really think of the original movie, which might be strange. Not once was I comparing the new film to the original. I saw someone on twitter say it was essentially just a remake of the 1991 film, and I wanted to respond with 'What movie were you watching?!'. -
I didn't like the growl either. It made me laugh, but it was just a little strange. I'm very tempted to post a shirtless photo of Luke Evans, because there's nothing scraggily or scrawny about him. ;) He's 6 feet of muscle. Anyway, I've seen a few other people complain about him not being beefy enough. I guess that didn't bother me because it was live action, and in this version, it was more about him being a war hero than it was about his physical stature. Also, I think I might have been a bit creeped out in the scenes with Gaston and Belle if they had gotten someone really big. As it was, I thought she looked pretty tiny next to him.

OUAT vs. Other Fairy Tales: Compare & Contrast
pezgirl7 replied to Camera One's topic in Once Upon A Time
You're not alone. That seems to be the consensus from a lot of women! Why would you want the beast when you can have Gaston? He just needed a little love and guidance. ;) I thought it was kind of ironic how Belle told Gaston that no one could change that much, when the Beast did just that! -
I saw the movie tonight and loved it! The music was so much better when it was paired with the visuals, and I take back what I said about Ewan having one of the weakest voices. He was great on Be Out Guest, and was just so fun to watch and listen to throughout the movie. I knew I would love Gaston, since I'm such a big Luke Evans fan, but he really looked and sounded amazing. And once he went evil, he just went full-on, which was great. Emma's voice didn't bother me at all, which surprised me, and I thought her acting was just fine. I know there was a lot of talk about the "gay" scene at the end, but I actually thought there were quite a lot of gay moments. Some people actually cheered at the gay scene at the end. I don't know if they were cheering because they were happy for the inclusion, or because they were pleased that LeFou found a happy ending! The only other cheers were at the very end of the movie. There were quite a lot of kids in the audience, and they just giggled at the "gay" parts. The movie will hardly corrupt children.

OUAT vs. Other Fairy Tales: Compare & Contrast
pezgirl7 replied to Camera One's topic in Once Upon A Time
Well, according to Luke, Gaston has been in the army since he was 16, and suffers from PTSD. But yea, that doesn't excuse his actions at all. Once his evil side starts to show, he just goes full-on! I also saw the film tonight, and I LOVED it! The music sounded so much better when it was with the visuals, which were stunning. I can't wait to see it again on Tuesday! -
A fan made a movie trailer for this episode, edited as a fun romantic comedy. It's pretty good, and has no mention of the horrible ending! https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=112&v=jRym06Oj7bo

Shine is so horrible. Thank god Frankie grew some balls at the end of the episode.

I think I need to reserve judgement until I actually see more than a few seconds here and there of the Beast. Here's some info about the technology they used to create the Beast on screen: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/films/beauty-and-the-beast/making-the-magic-real/

From what I've heard, LeFou is not just comic relief in the new version. He was given more depth along with the other characters because it helps with the live action. Everything had to be more realistic, so you couldn't have LeFou getting his teeth knocked out, or having animals sit on him. Also it helped the actors flesh out their roles more. That's why Gaston is now a former soldier who saved the village from marauders. It helps, in a more realistic way, explain why the village adores him. Giving the characters more depth helps with the story I think. Also, the director is gay, so he probably saw this as a good chance to add exclusivity to a Disney movie for those like him, who never see themselves represented in Disney movies.
-
For me, that line was meant to hint that LeFou is questioning Gaston's decisions and is no longer a loyal, blind follower. He is suppose to worship the guy, but just called him a monster! Thanks for posting all your thoughts, it was a very interesting read!

Not trying to start an argument, but here are my two cents... First, I don't think I would consider her to be "naked". She's a 26 year old woman, and women have breasts and public hair. To frown upon someone because they do something that reminds people of that fact is pretty ridiculous. From what I've seen, nothing she did was meant to be overtly sexual. The photo was in a celebrity/fashion/beauty magazine meant for adults, and the fur oil comment was in a long beauty article where she detailed every part of beauty routine. I don't think it's fair to expect adults to only talk or behave in a manner that is appropriate for an 8 year old. Vanity Fair is meant for adults, and I doubt many children will be reading it. Hopefully their parents are smart enough to know what is appropriate reading material for children.

Thanks for the link! I hadn't read that article. I can see Marcus being bi, as Ben's explanation made sense. He did kinda flirt with that nun, now that I think about it! It made me sad the way he talked about season 2, because I just don't think it's going to happen. The creator said on twitter that they are still waiting for an official renewal or cancellation announcement, but the ratings were so low. Maybe another network could pick it up. Even if Marcus is attracted to women, I can't see him having a romantic relationship with Casey. Thinking about it some more, I see him more as a close uncle to her. She's still in high school, and even if they jumped ahead a few years, I still think the age gap would be creepy. I can see her developing a crush on him, but he would reject her advances.
-
Well, seeing as Marcus is gay, I don't think there's any room for a future romantic relationship between them. I guess I would label it as a father/daughter bond. I was going to go with mentor/mentee, but that doesn't sound intimate enough.

The entire soundtrack is also on Youtube. https://www.youtube.com/user/DisneyMusicVEVO/videos I'm not sure if I like how they deepened the Beast's singing voice, but it wouldn't really make sense for it to not be deep. I thought Emma sounded a lot better on Something There than on Belle.

OUAT vs. Other Fairy Tales: Compare & Contrast
pezgirl7 replied to Camera One's topic in Once Upon A Time
Wow, I actually think Gaston has the best voice. Yea, it's not as deep, but that doesn't really bother me. Luke Evans has the most singing experience out of anyone on the cast. I actually think his voice sounds the loveliest in Belle. In The Mob Song, his voice is very menacing, which fits the song. And in Gaston, when he hits the high note on "barge", it give me shivers. For me, the weakest is Emma on the Belle song, just because of how auto-tuned it sounds, and Ewan on Be Our Guest. The Beast's deep voice was a little strange at first, but it makes sense for it to be deep. I think once I actually hear the music in the film, it'll all sound better! -
Didn't he leave her because he found out Susan was pregnant? Or maybe I'm remembering wrong. Can someone remind me when the last time we saw Shine was, and what happened to him? All I remember is something about an asian prostitute, and Reid wanting Drake to kill Shine in the boxing ring. But I can't actually remember what awful thing Shine did! Does anyone know if it would have been proper for Drummond to be staying in the same house as Matilda? I feel like that would have been frowned upon back then.

Spoiler Discussion: The apple was poisoned?!
pezgirl7 replied to regularlyleaded's topic in Once Upon A Time
Yea, I remember him from The Walking Dead, and although he's super cute, I don't think he really looks like Colin. My guess is that he would be an adult Henry. Although it's really sad that Henry would turn out to be a "friendless, cynical recluse". -
Lucky you! Did you see it at a press screening? Did people cheer after the musical numbers?
