  1. This is veering off topic, but The Timepiece is one of my favorite pieces of Sleepy Hollow fanfiction. Back on topic: SpoilerTV released promo pics for 2x17 today. Unfortunately I'm trouble posting the link. It looks like they go back in time in this episode, probably towards the end.
  2. I'm an African American woman. I've lost many white friends in the last few months because of how outspoken I am about the racial issues we are facing in America today. I was enraged when Fox News used the darkest, ugliest picture possible of Mike Brown when they interrupted Sleepy Holliw for the indictment verdict. The spoiler that Abbie is mistaken for a runaway slave makes me feel a bit uncomfortable, but it doesn't upset me. now, if we actually see Abbie forced into slavery I'll be the first to rage. Nothing here seems to indicate that will happen.
  3. I guess I'm confused since the synopsis says that Crane runs into Abbie and gets her out of jail. I guess I can understand if people were upset about Crane being a so called white savior. There's nothing in that spoiler that indicates that Katrina even interacts with Abbie while she's held. The spoiler just says that Katrina wants to kill Crane. Why would she help the one person who could foil her plans? I do agree that her being suspected as a slave is problematic, especially since the only other black characters that we've from that era were free. Why not have the colonist think she's a drunk, and that's the reason they jail her? That being said, I don't think she'll be in jail long enough to be forced into slavery. I doubt think we'll see scenes of Abbie picking cotton, or singing slave songs.,
  4. Perhaps I'm missing something, but I don't see anything in that synopsis that comes anywhere close to suggest that Katrina is going to be a "white savior". Now, I don't doubt that that someone is going on try to save her or redeem her, because this is Sleepy Hollow and that's how it's rolling his season. So either my reading comprehension is off, or people here are projecting their hate of the character into a pretty straight forward synopsis. There's nothing wrong with that, but wouldn't that conversation be better suited for another thread? Like maybe the Katrina thread, or the We Hate Sleepy Hollow Thread?
  5. I was just about every to post the same thing! It's obvious that they are trying to parell the pilot with Abbie bring the fish out of water and Crane being the skeptic. This is an hour long show; I highly doubt they'd spend more than a scene and a half with Abbie in jail. That being said, I'm pretty sure I've read at least 3 different fan fiction stories with similar plots. Now, I'm one of the few people here who hasn't outright hated this season. I think it's gone down in quality and a bit off the rails, but I'm still enjoying the show. I don't know if I'll be able to say the same thing if the screw up the finale.
  6. I was entertained. I think that's all I can say about this episode.
  7. This was probably the best episode of Sleepy Hollow Season 2. Heck, I think it may be my favorite eposodes of the whole series! Thank you to whatever bigwig at Fox knocked some sense into TPTB! I loved all of the Ichabbie scenes. Jenny got to be a BAMF. Katrina was kept to a minimum. Ill even admit to laughing at her line about Mary Poppins. It was nice to see the scenes between Irving and Cynthia. Crane singing his sea shanty at karaoke had me rolling! Of course he would be "that guy"! It's a shame they cut to Katrina during Proud Mary. I would have loved to see Abbie dancing like Tina Turner and Crane staring at her like she was nuts.
  8. I was inspired by this post to write about where I think Sleepy Hollow went wrong in the Sleepy Hollow boards. I think Hollywood continually underestimated the power of their POC viewers. Shows like Scandal and How to Get Away With Murder are dominating because while they have Black leads, they aren't "Black" shows. One of the things that I love about Scandal is that they don't shy away from racial politics, but it's not a beat you over the head thing. Remember the scene in the beginning of season 3 where Rowan reminds Olivia of his mantra for her while she was growing up? "You have to be twice as good as them to get half of what they have". Black Twitter went crazy over that line, because so many grew up hearing the same thing. I don't watch HTGAWM, but even I know about the infamous wig removal scene.I don't think either show would have done as well as they have without the power of Black Twitter behind them. Live tweeting Scandal is almost more entertaining to read as it is to watch the show. #Sleepyholla for Sleepy Hollow is smart and holds no bars funny. I know people are probably live tweeting Empire, and it's probably just as fun as watching the show.
  9. I honestly don't know much about him or what he's done beyond what's posted here and on other sites. He's a tv producer in Hollywood. He's making his money. He doesn't care about what you think, and doesn't have to. If he gets fired from this show he'll probably find another and laugh his way to the bank. That's the way things go. I'm still being entertained by the show despite all of its faults. If I wasn't I'd drop it like a hot potato and not look back. I've done it before, and I don't feel bad. I don't owe him anything, so why get upset over something I personally can't control? I know a lot of you don't feel that way, and I respect that. You have every right to your feelings about him. I think the show can be fixed, and maybe firing Groffman will be the first step. Or maybe someone will come in who will be even worse. That's just how Hollywood works,
  10. I'm almost afraid to post in this thread, because I'm one of the few people who doesn't hate watch/want the head of Mark Groffman. If there was a thread about how to fix Sleepy Hollow I'd post there. One of the reasons I fell in love with Sleepy Hollow was because of Abbie. As a black woman, I found it to be refreshing to see an African American character who was smart, competent, and entertaining at the same time. The addition of Jenny and Irving made this show a rarity: 3 black leads, but not a "black" show. I agree that all three characters have been sidelined this season. I think tv executives don't understand or appreciate the power of black viewers. One of the reasons Scandal is ABC's highest rated shows is that black viewers will support good shows with POC leads. Not only that, but the fact that Shonda and the TPTB encouraged their viewers to live tweet the show, which can be almost more entertaining to follow than watching Scandal. Black Twitter is a force to be reckoned with. How to Get Away With Murder is another example of that formula working. I'm hoping the success of those shows, and their new hit Empire will make TPTB force the Sleepy Hollow producers to think of their POC viewers, and how we affect the future of the show. #sleepyholla is what I follow on Twitter for live tweeting, and the viewers are hilarious and on point. Bring the focus back to Abbie, Crane, Irving, and Jenny. I actually don't mind Hawley in small doses. Heck, I'd be ok with Katrina in even smaller doses. I feel like these are the first steps that need to be taken to fix the show for the rest of the season, and next season if they are renewed.
  11. Two things I loved from episodes I hated: 1. There's a moment in Deliverence that cracked me up. Abbie and Crane are fighting off the bad guys to get the aurora prism, and Abbie cracks one of the goons over the head with a metal tray. It was random and awesome, and I giggled like a loon. 2. The scary painter in last weeks episode legitimately scared me. The scene where he turns to look at The Cranes made me jump and swear to avoid old paintings.
  12. Honestly, I think Jenny and Katrina: Witches wouldn't be a bad idea. Obviously the character isn't going anywhere, so why not team her up with someone interesting. I say this mostly because I want to see Jenny become a badass witch.
  13. I enjoyed any scene that wasn't Crane and Katrina together. Hell, I loved the scene of Crane and Reyes together. I loved Jenny's freak out over the corpse coming back to life. Jenny and Abbie shading Katrina had me rolling. I dont understand how Abbie and Crane can have chemistry over the phone, but Katrina kissing her husband was cold as ice water. I don't want to turn this into a Katrina sucks post, because lord knows everyone else here has said it at least every other post. I truly think that Katia Winter and Tom Mison suck the energy from each other.
  14. I agree with you on this. I'm a fan of both Sleepy Hollow and Doctor Who. Im probably one of the few fans who loves Clara, though I can't say the same about Katrina. I find that I get tense when the characters are onscreen on their respective shows, because I know that the bitching and moaning will be abundant. I'll take it even further, and say that I feel the hate wouldn't be as strong if they were male characters. it always seems like female characters are deemed the worst amongst fanboys and girls. The only exception I can think of right now is Blaine from Glee.
  15. That's some epic trolling or a really delusional fan. And I say that as someone who doesn't complely hate Katrina.
  16. My head canon says that Quinn and Brittany came to Finns funeral, but decided not to come back to McKinley for his memorial week. Quinn probably didn't come because it was emotionally devastating to her, and she wanted to try to move on. Brittany didn't come because MIT wouldn't let her take time off to go back to Ohio so soon after the funeral.
  17. I remember that too. Back on topic: I thought it was funny that Crane knew everyone in the Revolutionary War. I still want to see a flashback of him being chased by Betsy Ross! Also, I feel like some of the things people have complained about this season have always been there. I think the shorter season masked the issues. I'm torn, because I like that there are more episodes this season, but I think the show flowed better when there were less. Perhaps 15 or 14 episodes would work better.
  18. My fanwank is that Abby inherited the cabin and there's a trust for upkeep and maintainence. it wouldn't make sense for Joe to inherit in since it was suppose to be a secret.
  19. I really liked both episodes, though I think I prefer Homecoming to Loser Like Me. The newbies were interesting with out being over the top, the songs were great, and it was wonderful to see most of the original glee club back together. I think I may actually download tonights music. I haven't felt the need to do that since the beginning of season 4.
  20. I actually had no idea she said anything condescending. I don't follow her on Twitter, so I'm clueless. I retract my former statement if she's being an ass towards fans. its ok to be upset in private, but you can't take it out on the people who are basically keeping you employed.
  21. I actually have no idea if she's taking it personally or not. I'm an struggling actor, and you definitely have to learn how take criticism and not let it get to you. It's incredibly hard not to take things personally, but you have to do it. Which is why I posted this in the unpopular opinions thread.
  22. While hating Katrina is obviously not an unpopular opinion (and trust me, I don't like her) I don't completly hate her when she's not around Ichabod. Im torn, because while I think she is the worst I kinda want to see how she's adapting to the 21st century. I feel like she needs to ditch the witnesses and make a life of her own as modern woman. And only be seen for 30 seconds every 5th epidsode. That being said, I do feel kinda bad for Katia Winter. Actors have to have pretty tough skin and be able to take criticism. But it must suck to know that you are televisions most hated character.
  23. I totally forgot about the writers strike. I wonder if the show would have been successful if it came out today. I could totally see it as a Netflix show.
  24. I thought it was interesting that Orion's eyes seemed to change color when he started to get his zealot on.
  25. Not to defend Katrina, but it actually isn't that hard to lace ones self into a corset, especially if it has stays in the front. She probably just loosens the ties in the back and and opens the stays. The ties can be tightened again without help as long as they are laced in a certain way. A properly fitting corset can actually be comfortable. Source: I'm a former Ren Faire actor and owner of 2 steel boned corsets.
