I really liked the beginning of this. I never had any expectations that they would recapture the amazingness of the first season of the Original Recipe, because nothing ever could. That first season was magic, just like the showroom perfect blue Nissan Versa. So I wasn't expecting this to be as incredible as watching the Petrelli brothers fly together or Claire popping her broken ribs back under skin all nonchalantly. In fact, it was pretty much like I figured it would be: a recast of basically the same characters with a slight tweak to the story. Heroes had a formula and it stuck to it. That being said, there were things I liked and things I didn't like. The term "evos" and "truther"... really? I'm not into the Japan storyline as of yet. Maybe when Hiro shows up (I assume this is where he'll come in, since it's his/his father's business tower she went to) but only so long as he's not twee Hiro and he's badass future Hiro. And the L.A. bits with the alcoholic former soldier were meh. I'm sure he's going to have a power eventually. Aged-up Molly threw me for a loop. And The Haitian Sensation That's Sweeping The Nation trying to kill HRG at HRG's request. That was the moment in the premiere that got the first "Whaaaat?!" from me. The second followed closely when HRG killed him in return. The kid with the portal zapping was interesting enough, the Penny dude was intriguing, I have no idea what Northern Lights girl is all about. So which of the Killer Parents is hiding their power? Since we know that these things are genetic and inheritable (unless made synthetically). Or did their kid not have a power but they were just at the summit because it was a Moment in History? That wasn't really made clear to me. I know from the previous seasons not to expect answers until the 11th hour and not even then, so I expect lots of questions but there were a few things that could be a little cleaned up. Either way, I'm in for the long haul. I stuck through Original Recipe Heroes until the bitter end and even bought all those crap seasons on DVD. I'm looking forward to seeing where this one is going to go. Not gonna lie, when I first read this, I thought it was referring to the Heroes Maya and I shuddered because I caught most of the casting information over the months, but MAYA? They're going to bring that annoying chick back? Then I realized that it wasn't that Maya and was very thankful. Because Maya sucked balls. All she did was run around bleating her brother's name. And then Sylar's real name. And then Mohinder's. Ugh. I wonder if he's as unspecial as Unspecial Ando (hands down, one of my favourite Hiro/Ando moments when Hiro yells out that the kidnappers want him, not "Unspecial Ando". The look on Ando's face...). I don't really understand Miko's power, and I know that it might get explained later, but is it the sword that lets her travel in the game? Is her super power the ability to use the sword like a ninja? Is the sword Kenzei's/Hiro's sword? I have a feeling her storyline is going to be as annoying as Hiro in ancient Japan. Heh. We just finished our rewatch of all four of the original Heroes seasons and Lyle was the running joke for us. HRG was all about his Claire-Bear, but what about Lyle? No one cares about Lyle! Nikki's power wasn't her multiple personality of Jessica. Her power was super strength. She was just batshit crazy and Jessica would come out when Nikki was too "weak" to deal with anything. Jessica was the true star of that pairing. Jessica got shit done. Nikki just whined and acted like a damsel in distress. When we rewatched Season 1 recently, we kept begging Nikki to turn back into Jessica, because she was much less annoying.

Season 17 Live Feed Discussion: Watch People Sleep All Day!

(apparently, I suck at posting on my laptop opposed to my usual desktop computer) At the start of the thread, I was singing Austin's praises because I thought he was eye-candy. In my defense, this was pre-Liz and before we found out that he didn't use soap or shampoo in the shower. I may have praised his game, too. I'm too embarassed to go back and look, to be honest. -
Meg still thinks she's at summer camp, I bet.

After Steve booted Vanessa, I was certain it was his (and I was right). I wasn't a fan of the final 3 so it didn't really matter to me. I just wanted to see Vanessa go out when she was that close to the half a million dollars. I really wasn't surprised to see Liz lose. I mean, she didn't even know that the jury could ask them questions! You think she would have spent that last, boring week in the house to... I don't know... prepare? Props to production for not going too deep into the showmances this season. Although I would have loved to see Shelli's reaction to the Clay/Meg moment in the bathroom. Austin was nice and bitter. I hope he realized that Judas was one of the lamer jokes of the season. And yay for James winning fan favourite. Pulling pranks and scaring the bejeesus out of Julia on a nightly basis worked, I guess. I thought Johnny Mac's DR sessions would have won it for him. Despite the final 3 and the winner, this was an excellent season after the last two. Here's hoping that the next one is even better!

They take Jace off the memory wall. They leave Jace off of the halfway party Cake of Faces. They ignore Jace at the finale. What a Big Brother legacy to leave behind. Next season, I predict people saying that they don't want to be the Jace of their season.
-
Or Clay and Meg...
-
Seriously. Ten minutes left, and we still need to do the winner and Fan Favourite. So. Much. Filler.
-
I wish this finale was longer. I wish it was more like Survivor's format, where they have enough time to talk about shit that went down in the house. The pre-jury boots aren't enough. Vanessa had to wear a poker face, y'all. If that's her poker face, I'd hate to see her when she's really emotional.
-
Austin: "Judas has left the building." About fucking time.
-
Liz trying to keep a supermodel smile on her face during Steve's final speech was cracking me up.
-
I always thought that they still got to ask something, it just wasn't so producer-influenced. I'm getting old and forgetful, I guess.
-
Was there a question from Vanessa or did I miss it? I'm making dinner at the same time.
-
Wow. Liz is not doing herself any favours with her answers. Jackie looks gorgeous tonight.
-
Audio problems. Heh. This show is so badly produced live.
-
Wow, that's some stank face that Vanessa has. I don't blame her, she was that close, but it's funny. I couldn't stand her anymore.
-
Steve, while evicting Vanessa, looks like he's about to have a panic attack and/or hyperventilate and pass out. Steve, after Vanessa leaves the house, is cool as a cucumber. I don't think all of his tears in the house were strategic, but I think there was some thought behind his freak outs.
-
I hope they have a puke bucket off to the side for Steve
-
See ya, Vanessa! That came down to the wire. I really thought that Steve got that last one wrong. I know the answers are always crapshoots, but Johnny Mac is even more unpredictable.
-
Is Steve wearing the same outfit that he is in the opening credits?
-
Austin is so bitter. I love it. ETA: And Meg is still delusional and has no idea what's going on. Heh.
-
Watching Austin's eviction just never gets old. Vanessa wearing the Green Tuque of Doom just won me $5. I had a feeling she would wear it for the finale. That poor thing looks like it's been rode hard and put away wet. Too much clutching while stressing and crying, I guess.

Season 17 Live Feed Discussion: Watch People Sleep All Day!

Ah, the Big Brother finale comes at the perfect time... right when I feel so burnt out from watching the live feeds and the broadcast shows and feel like I can't go on. Thanks to everyone here for all the fun and insightful and witty comments this season. I've had a blast laughing with you guys over Audrey in the DR, Shelli and Clay's pity party, the stomach turning Liz and Austin showmance... and believe it or not, after all my bitching about Vanessa's Green Tuque of Doom, I'm about to start making myself one. I promise I won't wear it 24-7 and curl my hair while it's on my head. I don't really care who wins this season (I feel like I say that every season). But it's a far better season than the last one, and the one before that. Here's hoping the next season is even better! Maybe my wine consumption levels will go down now that the show is ending for the season. Yeah, right... -

Yup. Right up to Johnny Mac's second eviction, after he walked out and the house heard the massive cheering for him, Steve continued to say that he was sure that Johnny Mac was a twist. How he could be a twist is beyond me, because the dude did nothing but sleep. Unless he figured that was the twist? "If you can sleep x number of hours in a week, we'll give you a cash prize!" -

Aw, I can't see the goodbye messages. Is it because I'm in Canada? I know I get screwed out of the official Dancing with the Stars ones, too. -

They're still at it? Damn. I keep checking in occasionally but I'm surprised that it's been going this long.
