  1. I will mangle the quote, but I love his, "He's not blind when he's with me." I agree, VCR, their relationship is the movie's heart.
  2. Of course, Columbia could be different, but I laughed when she talked about the paper she had to write for torts. She is a first year, right? Your first year you don't turn in papers except for your legal writing class. You go to class, and your grade is solely based on your 3 hour exam at the end of the semester. As a paralegal she wouldn't be in charge of writing all those briefs either. And why does she have a nice office when Mike didn't? I eye roll a lot during this show.
  3. James Garner was wonderful in every movie. I can't believe his only Oscar nomination was for "Murphy's Romance." I especially love "Support Your Local Gunfighter" and his TV movie "Decoration Day." I grew up on reruns of "Maverick." What a loss.
  4. I don't know why we are supposed to think Ray is so threatening. One call to Boris and he's done. Emma is annoying. I was annoyed with her dinner conversation with Hank. Yes, Hank, pick the 17 year old girl you've known for 5 minutes to be your go-to person while you continue to mock Evan. Hope it backfires big. Divya continues to bug. Most people would be happy that their nannies want to get more education to help their child. Jeremiah continues to delight.
  5. N is for New York City, which she chose over Tulsa. It's also for her Nana, who died twice.
  6. L is for London where Monica and Chandler got together
  7. Charlie Rose interviewed George Clooney, and he talked about his acting. He said there are two kinds of actors: people who get lost in their role so you can't tell actor from character and Spencer Tracy types who essentially play variations of the same character each time. He labeled himself as the Spencer Tracy type, saying, "you know what you're gonna get with me. My acting range is small but I am good within that box." I thought he had good self-awareness on this front. Cannot stand Breakfast Club. I was smack dab in my teens when it came out, but still thought they were all a bunch of whiners blaming their bad behavior on their parents. I was disgusted by the end.
  8. I met Kenneth Branagh at a meet and greet before the showing of Hamlet. He was very nice, self-deprecating and chatty with everyone, even though his handlers kept him moving. Fast forward one year and I was in London. We were caught in traffic when the person in the cab in front of us hopped out, grabbed his backpack, and jogged up the street. It was Kenneth heading toward one of the theaters.
  9. I only saw about 5 minutes of Bang the Drum Slowly and couldn't stop crying. I can only imagine how hard I would sob if I saw the whole movie.
  10. I remember Protocol. "You live with two men?" "No, I live with two men who are living with each other." Yep, mom had to explain that exchange to me. Cute movie.
  11. J is for Monica's crush on Jean-Claude Van Damme.
  12. In the span of about 4 months I read Marley and Me, Mr. Crs97 and I had to put my beloved dog down, and we went to see the movie. Guess who forgot how the book ended until Marley got sick and my husband looked at me incredulously and asked if this was going to end badly? Never cried so hard during a movie in my life. Brian's Song and Something for Joey-My dad hated when my sisters and I watched these movies; he said he could hear the sobs from the driveway.
  13. When Harry Met Sally-When Billy Crystal asks Meg Ryan out, I believe the commentary said the whole accent part of it was ad libbed. At one point she laughs and looks away. Rob Reiner said she was actually looking to him for help and he just motioned for her to play along.
  14. G is for gum, which she promised Ben she would always have.
  15. When Ross sends Emily roses and she sends them back destroyed, I love how he delivers the line about Monica making potpourri.
  16. Like Water for Chocolate - I really hated this movie. So incredibly dumb. My eyes roll just thinking about it. Definitely an UO with my friends when we saw it in the theater
  17. I love IM3 as well. The first one is still my favorite, but 3 is a close second. Two is a very distant third.
  18. D is for the dance routine Ross and Monica performed on New Year's Eve
  19. As soon as she started limping I thought gout. His meal choice confirmed it. I did not find Hank's situation compelling, though I loved Boris' singing.
  20. Lonesome, I agree with you. The look on his face when he realizes she is back and the smile on her face when he asks about the slippers speak volumes. He knows he has lost, and she knows he is just trying to save a little face, but they are so clearly equals at that point she can allow him that moment. I have no fears that life returns to what it was between them. I have seen it on stage where it ends with his question, her showing him the slippers, him laughing and their dancing and kissing. It was sweet, but not as satisfying as the movie ending.
  21. What I didn't like was Paige and Evan having 17 year old Emma move into Hank's place while he was out of the country. Way to leave the teenager unsupervised, guys! I also didn't like Divya ordering Jeremiah around at their first visit to the firehouse. Divya, the "A" in "PA" stands for "assistant", which means you shouldn't be ordering Jeremiah to get your stuff for you. Yep, she continues to bug. I loved Boris' singing. Jeremiah was adorable, as always. I want him to be happy!
  22. Z is for the zoo, one of the places Fun Bobby thought required an "adult" beverage I'm drawing a blank here. How about anything related to babies or childbirth or children? If we have already done something like that then someone else should pick a topic.
  23. That plot development has always disturbed me as well. Wow, this thread is cathartic!
  24. This might be a bridge too far, but I don't think Marlon Brando is all that great. My mom, who has a drama degree, assures me that if I would sit through A Streetcar Named Desire I would understand more of his appeal, but (doubling-down here) I don't like Tennessee Williams plays either.
  25. I must admit that I thought of myself as an Avengers fan, but have now come to accept that I am really just an Iron Man fan. I completely understand why y'all could be sick of Tony Stark, but I have tried to watch the other characters' solo movies several times and cannot get through any of them. Seriously, none of them, and I've really tried! I try to fight through the boredom, but finally give up or fall asleep. Add RDJ to the mix, however, and then I think all the characters are interesting. I don't know what hold he has over me (I never liked RDJ before Iron Man), but he's got something that works for me.
