  1. Well, moreover, its a hologram - it can be whatever you want it to be. If you are want to create holographic miners, for instance, just make them holographic machines - don't give them any sentience and certainly don't make them look like people. In series like Mass Effect they drew a distinction between a smart computer, which they called a VI (virtual intelligence) and a truly sentient machine, which they called an AI. AI were banned, VI were legal. Things like the Archive Index or a starship's computer would be considered VI and therefore allowed. A true synthetic would fall under the AI category. I guess whoever built the synths for the Federation never heard of "3 Laws Safe".
  2. I was going to say the same thing - unless we've changed how we pronounce it in the US in the last 100 years.
  3. I was just going to say the same thing. Demons have been interacting with most of humanity (since no one goes to the Good Place anymore) and a wide variety of types of humans (good, bad and everything in-between). The Good Place is completely static.
  4. And their PO was murdered in broad daylight, so coming home late at night wouldn't have even mattered. But maybe they didn't know that detail.
  5. I know Time Lords’ personality changes between regenerations, so I’m assuming this Master put aside everything Missy decided to be (e.g. standing with the Doctor) and went back to psycho-Master mode?
  6. It’s possible she was referring to events from Knights of the Old Republic; thousands of years prior to Star Wars, the Mandalorians led a crusade against the Old Republic. While the Jedi Council urged restraint and patience, many Jedi believed the Mandalorians an urgent threat and rushed off to meet them in battle.
  7. I thought for sure it would be the whole Skywalker family: Anakin, Luke, Leia and Ben. Of course, along those lines - why didn’t Anakin’s ghost ever appear to Ben and tell him not to idolize Vader. It would have been kind of cool to have the Sith planet be Korriban or Dromund Kaas to tie it into KOTOR. They both would have been long forgotten by this time.
  8. As others have said: what was Finn going to tell Rey? And it seems like they were implying Finn is a bit Force-sensitive?
  9. This makes me sad; if there's any hope though, only season two was paid for by Netflix, right? Hopefully they can shop around or re-kickstart.
  10. The droid was a B2 battle droid used by the Separatists during the Clone Wars. Are we to assume that was when this attack happened? I think it aligns with Mando's possible age (assuming its the same as Pedro's). As for the helmet on/off question - maybe there are different interpretations of the Mandalorian code by different clans. (Or whatever their sub-groups are called).
  11. So is Debbie using all their money for her shopping extravaganza, or just her portion? And why did Fiona put her in charge again? Lip actually has stepped in and raised the family before, I'm not sure why he wasn't the choice again.
  12. Without any kind of clear explanation of what the portal people meant, I think a more satisfying ending would be shutting down the portal entirely, blocking all travelers - even those like Juliana and then simply have a scene of more soldiers abandoning their posts or taking off their armbands. Just an indication that there was hope for the future for this world. But then again they've left so many endings vague or nonsensical. Childras's final scene is literally just him scurrying out of the room (although I suppose that's fitting for him). Kito joins the Yakuza, because... OK. Not sure how that "atones for the things [he's] done" like he said. And what about alt-Thomas? Does he make out of Vietnam, or do "the quantum echoes" of Nazi Thomas mean he's just as doomed? And poor alt-Helen, potentially all alone now. The rest of the season I really enjoyed - they just didn't stick the landing.
  13. I agree that was what was happening, and a free North America is a nuclear power to counter whatever the Reich intends. But no one knew that at that time. Only the audience knew what was up. And I still wouldn’t choose to go somewhere that had been Nazi central not 10 minutes prior.
  14. I don't understand, at all, the ending. Why would these people cross over into Nazi run world? How did they know the portal existed? What were they hoping to find?
  15. The Daybreakers acted so dumbfounded when Sam took the throne, but we haven't really seen anything to indicate she'd be an Evil Leader. Maybe in Josh's case its just because she rejected him (not that I necessarily blame her). I'm more curious about Turbo; his underlying motivation was to protect the kids (if his internal monologues are to be believed), but he was also responsible for killing many. Curious how he comes back from that / how is he forgiven? Although everyone seemed to be OK forgiving Principal Burr for, you know, eating them.
  16. It is a funny trope. Its been a little while since I've been in high school, but I'm fairly sure any guy who looked like Josh would have been at or near the apex of school social life.
  17. I'm curious if the last episode of the season will have Charlie and Frank back at the bus station to meet them. Although I have a hard time picturing them maintaining that kind of attention span. I chuckled that the last rom-com trope Mac tried was the "gay rom-com, that won't play in Middle America".
  18. I think the simplest explanation is that Data's memory engrams in B4 took hold to such an extent that there's no real difference between them anymore.
  19. I thought I recall from s2 that the reason Billy was such a jerk towards Max was because Billy resented that his father actually treated her nicely as compared to how he treated him. Am I misremembering, or did it come up in one of the after shows?
  20. And unless there's some strong anti-American refugee sentiment in Canada we haven't been shown, we're supposed to assume Canadian citizens are going to be totally cool with thousands of Americans being rounded up and shipped out? Ugh, this show is starting to be a chore to watch.
  21. Also: if that whole prayer show at the Lincoln Memorial was for PR sake, what country would look at all those women with red muzzles on and go "Oh yeah, looks like everything is A-OK there." even if they didn't already know all the awfulness that goes on in Gilead. Not to mention they previously had all their PR spots with June unmuzzled, so...? To a much earlier point, people wondered why any country would give Gilead the time of day: Gilead has nukes, and seems to have already used them against the US (assuming that's where all the radiation in the Colonies comes from). Doesn't seem like they'd have a qualm using them against others if push came to shove. I don't know what is going on in their world with NATO (if the US exists, why isn't it helping? Does it consider it a civil war?) -- but seems like Canada could just ask the UK or France to station a few nukes as insurance. Not to mention US nukes that might still exist at bases in HI and AK.
  22. The problem is, while a frightening visual image, it pushed the whole concept of Gilead from "frightening because it skirts reality" to "this is totally unrealistic". For the reasons mentioned: How do they eat? How do they manage morning sickness? How does that setup not cause all kinds of damage during labor? What is even the point? A handmaid speaking out of turn would already be subject to all kinds of punishment. And if DC is the capital, why does it seem like all the major meetings and decisions seem to be going down in Boston?
  23. No cell phones, but Angel knew what restaurant they were eating at; I suppose she could have said "Can we take 10?" whenever they were supposed to meet and then called the restaurant from the studio's phone to pass along a message. I mean I don't blame her either, but that would have been one option.
  24. I've wondered that too; in addition who pays for the gigantic trophies they give out for each and every category. Good lord, those can be expensive.
  25. That was one of the plot holes in the show: where is all the power coming from? Even if there was a power plant in town it still needs fuel from somewhere. While hydroelectric plants can run unattended for a long time, more traditional ones are going to need someone to interact with it over 6 months. And as far as the cell service goes just because there’s a cell tower in town doesn’t mean any of the cell service is going to work, there still needs to be the whole carrier infrastructure to manage the call. No one seemed to bring up the point that after the buses dropped them off they must’ve had some way to leave the town (either by road or portal) so why aren’t they looking for that? If Campbell is a diagnosed psychopath, with known tendencies of animal cruelty, why is he attending the public high school and not a private school more accommodating. Especially if his parents were actively afraid of him. Why make Sam and him brothers, when that played almost no part in the story. The exposition about Campbell could’ve been provided by his cousins. Lastly, for a town so wealthy, $1.5 million for some clean up project (or whatever was behind the smell) doesn’t seem like something they’d be all bent out of shape about paying.
