  1. Given that Vanessa promised last week to keep john safe till into the jury it will be interesting to see how she can spin not taking him off the block when she has the chance.
  2. Jeff is definitely getting a favorable edit. But don't forget he is part of the great CBS crossover so maybe Grodner thinks he should be protected so they can keep that storyline. Clearly the Amazing Race week was a bust and Jackie is laying low. If she can't even pull off a success with another show's help maybe production thinks it will look bad.
  3. Personally, I wish ABC and the producers behind this show would wipe the slate clean, pick a bachelor we've not seen previously and get the train back on the track because if they keep recycling people, I'm out. I always watch this stupid show for the comedy value but there was none this time and it was basically unwatchable. Perhaps if we are lucky they will cast the sheep. Sorry i messed up the quoting.
  4. D'avin is a bit bland but both Johnny and Dutch are far more complex and skilled than anything on DM (although Six has promise). And in terms of thrown together from other shows has there been anything original at all in the DM storyline or universe? I just think that the writers of DM don't know where they are heading and they simply drop things. Like what ever happened with the dead boy? Yes it ties in with 5 finding the gadget for the multiverse (so that they can copy every multiple universe story ever) but nothing about the kid himself. And it had no repercussions for anyone or anything. Gah.
  5. I think that the Nine are clearly families and that some of the younger children are sent to Leith. I took the disgusted guy to be part of whatever group it was that wanted to seize Constance in order to seize that heir's holdings.
  6. I think that they didn't. If anything, this episode was meant to make us like Three more. I think that One came in and thought they had had sex and Three played along with it in his usual way but then decided that he liked One and this is supposed to make us think he was standing aside for him. I still think it is odd that Two came on to him though. It seemed out of character for her even after her near death experience.
  7. I thought the Two hitting on Three was odd as well and a sign that they really don't know what to do with the characters. On the other hand despite the predictability of a zombie episode i thought this one was slightly better than the previous ones. Rodney was an interesting edition and the discovery of the Door to Narnia by the rest of the crew was good. I'm not sure how many other shows they can borrow from without developing the show developing its own character though.
  8. I actually feel the opposite partly because the killjoys characters actually seem interesting to me already. Dark Matter is more paint by numbers and does it with so little sense of humor. If you add that the world building is less complex... What to people make of the lyre that Dutch has? Are we too assume that she was high-born in some way?
  9. It looked to me as if Maisie Williams was taking off some sort of goggles from early 20c. Not sure if that is any sort of clue because i can't think of who that might point to--if anyone.
  10. I love the nod to the opening of the Jeremy Brett Sherlock Holmes. It is almost a perfect appreciation.
  11. I thought it was clear that not only wasn't she done but she knew it. After all she is trying to track down her former master. She was clearly lying to john and that lie is going to come back at some point.
  12. Does anyone know when production would have put these episodes together? It is hard to imagine how they could make kaitlyn and shawn look any worse. I wonder if this is payback for the snapchat mistake?
  13. Hope you are correct about the writers. I'm not seeing it yet. The characters seem like cliches.
  14. I'm sorry, i was unclear. When i was talking about fauxOne i wasn't talking about the guy who is the crew member but the real Jace. To me, since he is not "One" he is the faux if that helps.
  15. Perhaps. But since fauxOne apparently knew nothing of the Raza but its reputation i still think it is sloppy writing and the fact that you are able to come up with possible ways to get the writers out of the 4 jam (and props to being so imaginative) shows that you need to stretch. Good writing shouldn't demand that people come up with imaginative ways to cover up seeming problems. When viewers have to concoct scenarios to explain plot holes it is a warning sign. Although if we are lucky and the show is better written than i think it is perhaps the failure of the company will turn out to be a deliberate and telling choice. But do you really have confidence so far? I'm not sure about your last point. Clearly the android is not contradictory and illogical. Are you suggesting that she would just have written off his out of character behavior as "oh, well you know those humans"?
  16. The show seems to be developing some real cracks in its plotting. The whole three/one business doesn't make sense (wouldn't people be just as apt to seize on the possibility that they too weren't bloodthirsty killers?); if Four is who everyone thinks he is then wouldn't the company have turned him in for a reward rather than sent him to fight the miners?; since they docked under fake registration how did fauxOne find the ship so easily?; and i also thought the android was a bit odd in not reacting to his arrival on the ship given how out of character he was (one day he is willing to risk his life to save the android the next he treats it as a pointless machine?). I'm not convinced they really know what they are doing.
  17. I'm not sure where your statistics are coming from exactly but the rate of children born to unmarried women rose quite dramatically starting in the the 1940s through the 1980s and according to the cdc the growth rate declined in the 1990s. Also, it is hard to pick out one aspect of life to decide if the past was "better." Women had fewer options then and did not have the same opportunities for economic independence which really didn't develop to the 1970s, and even those opportunities differed in terms of class, race and geography. I'm also not really sure what this has to do with Kaitlyn who as far as I can tell had sex with two guys in a couple of weeks on a dating show (as opposed to having sex with a few guys in a couple of nights when it would be part of the narrative in the fantasy suites). Does anyone think that Chris didn't sleep with both Kaitlyn and Whitney? He must have been a real slut musn't he??
  18. But from the end of the episode when we meet the "real" one it seems clear that he is as vicious as any of the others. I wonder if the dead boy may not have been the prince from the dream. One gets the sense that he and Five were linked and perhaps were fleeing together. They may have used Five's computer skills to sneak onto the wrong ship.
  19. I can completely understand them wanting to save the android. She is the only one who can really handle the ship, she fixes everything if it breaks, and for all they know she may be a key to protecting them. In a way, 3 and 4 are more perplexing. Why should 3 care about 1 and 6? If he is all he claims then one of two things happens: they come back in a couple of minutes with the android or they die and then it becomes clear that 3 is right and they should sell the ship. I agree that 1 making it a morality play was both predictable and silly.
  20. I don't think think that she ran right outside to get back into it. She heard him being rude to a crew member and went out because she felt responsible for the situation. I remember thinking that that showed a lot of character as opposed to someone who would have heard that and just sat there to let some show minion bear the brunt of the guy's shouting. I'd have to review previous seasons (which would cause my head to explode) but I doubt that she is the first bachelor or bachelorette who has said things about people after they have left. And let's face it, Ian was ridiculous. Anyone who declares, on the Bachelorette, their superiority because of their schools and their self-perceived hotness, then declares themselves self-aware and a "catch" and complains that Kaitlyn isn't behaving like a wounded and damaged rejectee waiting for someone to heal her but instead is having fun can't really claim to have been mistreated. There is a reason there was an article asking where Ian ranked on the list of most embarrassing tv Princetonians ever? I also don't think that faced with that degree of hostility that she might not come out with an appropriate retort in the moment but might then release her emotions later to the group. That it was Ian who prior to this seemed to me at least to be pretty reasonable would have increased the shock value. And with Tony if someone was telling me he was a warrior with the soul of a poet (or whatever it was) I would have been freaked out too. edited for typos
  21. Or at least that is all the producers want us to see her doing. They seem to have decided to make her look poorly from the very beginning.
  22. Anyone who needs to announce that they went to Deerfield and Princeton and that they are an intellectual and deep has real issues. Basically Ian left because Caitlyn doesn't have the same class background as he does and wasn't impressed by his. His announcing that he is so "self-aware" when he seems completely unaware of his class privilege is sort of unbelievable.
