I guess I am just a cynic and not so easily convinced of all this”growth”. Especially when it comes with such a financial gain for them. Yes, the things Jill was put through were terrible. I don’t wish that on anyone. But this book still screams self promotion and continued hateful beliefs to me. It would be so easy for them to show some remorse about their comments or even just a little willingness to learn. I am obviously in the extreme minority here, but my conscience will not allow me to line their pockets (even with Pennie’s). Edited to add: no judgement to all who have bought the book. Just my opinion and internal struggle.

My son is also just starting his sophomore year in college. It never occurred to me that he might “forget” us if I didn’t hang an enormous family portrait on his dorm wall. Of course I am a terrible mother who let my kid go to a college where everyone needs saved according to Jill. On the other hand, he needed a real education and a whole lot of hard work to get in. 🍀

No defending, but I wonder if she has melasma? I have it and it causes dark patches all over my face. I am so self conscious about it. I wear quality sunscreen religiously, wear hats outdoors, try to avoid peak sun hours, but I still get it. Not sure if she is into skin care though.

I am having font issues as well. I have it selected to the largest size. It reverts back every time I change to a new page. Even if I stay on the same forum/topic. I am on iPhone 12 with the newest iOS version. I have restarted my phone, cleared cache, and logged out and back in.

A grammar test in college? What? My son is a freshman in college. Foreign language placement test? Yes. Math placement test? Yes (for students who didn’t have AP opportunities). Maybe my son’s grammar test was the 5 page paper he had due the first week in theology. He did get a 4.8/5 on it, but I forgot to post that on social media.

Yes, there are not enough teachers to go around because we are chronically underpaid, undervalued, and expected to be martyrs. I LOVE teaching kids and I am good at it. However, I am so tired of the parents, unrealistic expectations from administration, and interference from government who have never stepped foot in a classroom. I want out desperately. I honestly don’t know what will happen to education in this country.

How do these people call themselves “pro-life” if they refuse to protect others with a mask? Yes, I know, they think it is all fake. It just burns me up. I want to take that term from them. They are pro-birth.

Let’s go explore! (while staring at phone)

I got Boot and River. I think my store carries hipster outdoor gear. We can start a little strip mall.

Just wanted to add that I am also a proud IU grad (1999). I still love to watch them play even though they have been terrible lately. Bloomington still feels like home after all these years. I loved it there. My oldest just verbally committed to a school and I am a little bit sad she won’t be going to IU.

The font reminds me of the Babysitters Club books. Oh how I loved those. Also, who uses the term “fellowship “ when referring to hanging out with family? I have 3 kids in high school and I can only imagine how much they would laugh if one of them said that. Of course they would never say it about hanging out with their “sweet” friends either.

I remember going to Deer Forest as a child. Great memories, but I was too young to register the condition it was in. I saw the story on the local news about someone trying to store. My hopes are dashed now that I know who is involved. Can’t imagine it will be completed.

Lorelai Gilmore: The 10(+) Things I Hate About You
HooHooHoo replied to TwirlyGirly's topic in Gilmore Girls
My younger self loved Lorelei. Maybe I thought it would be fun to have a young, cool mom? My older self finds more and more things I can’t stand. She is so entitled. The one standing out in my mind right now is when Sookie wants to tell her the ideas she had for bridesmaids dresses and Lorelei steamrolls over and says she wants to design them so she won’t hate them. Sorry, that is straight up terrible behavior and and a terrible friend. I wore some ugly bridesmaids dresses in my time and I did it every time with a smile on my face and grateful my friends/family thought enough of me to include me. -
Ok, so at least two second grade teachers who can’t say it. I am in the Midwest. Thank you for satisfying my inquiring mind!

Ok. I need a tiny clue to your location if you are comfortable. I teach with a second grade teacher who says “fusstrated”. It drives me crazy. I always want to ask her to spell it!

Coffee mugs would just be something I would have to dust to me. I collect Christmas ornaments on my trips. I love Christmas and like to have multiple trees. It is fun to remember our special trips as we hand the ornaments and they are hidden away in the basement the rest of the year, so I don’t have clutter or have to dust them!

Oh I was told it would just be a little cold if I get it. Only old people and people with underlying issues get really sick. I can only assume that means those people don’t matter?
