@Lantern7 That's a no go. Fortunately. Too much sports in my life to watch that type of bad TV

Heidi wins, and she pretty much controls her own destiny toward the end

You know Survivor officially jumped the shark if burping into someone's mouth is a future immunity challenge
-
Unless it's an exclusive memory game. Though you're not wrong; it's just that she could actually win that one
-
As soon as she asked, it was time to change the channel

Either that or finds the idol. But man, no way Carolyn loses if she wins immunity. I think I'd laugh & be happy if she won out in terms of the IC

He might call an audible and boot Carson

Forgot that Yam Yam hadn't been on a reward. Not that there've been that many RC

Probably would be my first bet, or at least 2 of 3, but we'll see

I doubt it. I'm not sure how they'd profit with that game on a streaming service. No way a program that's taken each of the Top 10 spots in terms of most watched TV shows is going to go in that direction. Plus, the Super Bowl networks are set (though not really since CBS and NBC recently swapped but I wouldn't worry about it). I agree there's a trial run. In some sense. The trial run for this year's wild card game on Peacock actually takes place in Week 16. However, this could work; to be fair, this would be a test for whenever free TV, broadcast television, and other stuff are done away with. The move toward streaming platforms is the thing so who knows what's next. I just don't think it's happening within a few years or so

Man, if Boston does end up coming out of the East, the Lakers fans will be miserable as all hell if the Celtics find a way to stop Jokic and/or outperform Denver, which might be a shocker. It looks like you were on track to answer your own question. Game One featured Denver dominating for about 3 quarters. Unlike teams like Philadelphia, or to be more precise, Phoenix, L.A. did not give up. They nearly won, but that's as good of an outcome as the Suns Game 5. Because of that, it shows that the Lakers can win. It doesn't mean they will win. Other examples are Golden State's Game 1 loss to Sacramento, and Boston's Game 1 loss to Philly, which was a home loss for the 2022 East Champions. Both of those teams proved that the series doesn't end for losing their first game

Moral victory or no, this game shows that LA can win on the road, which is what they have to do obviously (while never losing at home). I don't think it needed to be in Game 1. There's no guarantee Denver will play like that, but it's very possible that the Lakers crumble later on as the rest they had will not be the case going forward

Same 4 teams that were the last four standing (not even) 3 years ago, but I'll go with the reverse result. IOW, Denver and Boston FTW, and the East champ winning the NBA Finals. I'd like to see the two teams that are tied in titles a little more than Jokic vs Butler, but Boston, regardless of who they face, will break that tie "Rather than create a triple-post: looks like the Pop gets Wem!"

Here's the latest from Jeff as it relates to the Reunion Show

That's sorta dumb that they went with the Saturday wild card. It would have made more sense to go with the Sunday game, especially since the return of the Saturday early day game was a one-year thing prior to the move to Monday night. So it's basically 1-3-1 in terms of free NFL. Yes I'm aware many people are off on the Monday after WC Sunday, but that's not going to be the case next season

In what felt like it came out of nowhere, Jason Day's victory in the Byron Nelson event 13 years after doing so to get his career going is his first win in about a half decade. On one hand, I'm surprised that it's been that long, but OTOH, thinking about the past 5 years, it isn't too much of a surprise. Congratulations to Tony Finau and Wyndham Clark for their recent wins at the Mexico Open & Wells Fargo Championship, respectfully. Hats off to Matt Fitzpatrick & his win at the RBC Heritage. To be fair Jordan, he was lucky to have been in that spot where he had a chance to win. Fitz probably could've closed things out a lot sooner. BTW, Rahm was (sorta) in the hunt in an event that pretty much every past Masters Champions skip; hats off for him playing there!

Because I pinched myself and said, "Ouch!"

I think the only team that could beat them lost to Los Angeles. To be clear, even that team would've lost this time around. We have to see how epic home court is for Denver. If it is the place to be, all they have to do is steal one in Boston. That's assuming Miami falls to Boston again (BTW, it's sorta karma for them losing to Atlanta to avoid the Celtics early and ruin Milwaukee would I think would've had a better shot to win the East, as mentioned)

No point in waiting until 7:00 ET to fire Doc Rivers, TBH
-
I'm not sure what the endgame is going to be with the suspension. It's going to take a lot more than an off-season ban to send a message to that grown man. As for the firings, Colin Cowherd summed it up best, basically saying that "No sport fires good coaches more than the NBA." He isn't wrong, TBH
-
Two people who coached against each other 2 years ago in the Finals got fired after losing to a couple of teams (one each). FWIW, two very good teams, both of whom could make it into this year's NBA Finals
-
KD on the team + bowing out in pathetic fashion X New ownership = Getting kicked out

First things first: There should not be a game on Sunday. It's sorta annoying that Philadelphia couldn't close it out, but before that, how does Boston look like that on Thursday but crumble in Game 5. They say the greatest two words in sports is "Game 7" (which, no thank you, Super Bowl is the greatest two words in sports), but only if the two teams are battling well enough to have it come to that. I guess this series did that, but I think it looked like missed opportunities for both Boston & Philly. As for Boston vs Lakers, similar to "Game Seven" it's probably what TPTB want, and if things fall in place, it'll happen. I'm not a fan of it, but I'm not against it either. It's just that there are several other matchups that would be worth tuning into. Jokic vs Butler or Embiid vs Jokic would be tremendous. If it's 2010s LBJ, then anything is worth it. The finals Cleveland made could've been much, much better, but Golden State happened

I think I was planning to make this very comment if not a similar one during the show (I was rather busy with a number of things that evening). I'm okay with how sweet everyone is toward people during the game, and then respectful during Final Tribal Council. The main reason is that Survivor is just a game. There are bigger issues in life over a gameshow. However, it was sorta hilarious seeing people so angry over getting kicked out. Even the jury expressions in one's first TC since getting voted off lack the anger. Great point on the 26 vs 39 day thing, LadyChatts. I agree that has changed things. IMO, one might be more upset since at the point of their boot they would've been on the show longer so the bitterness is more legit. Onto the Peachy Podcast: “Why Jeff Sucks” Change is a part of life. It's inevitable. As mentioned elsewhere, the words of a dying CEO (an eventually the end of a company) pretty much makes sense. "This the way we've always done things." By the way, I'm not a fan of change for the sake of change. After all, if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Still, you have to adapt to the era that you are in, or else it's over. That being said, I'm okay with doing things differently than before. I'd tone it down a little, but I don't think it's a big deal. I will say that if TPTB are going in the direction of doing new things, then make sure nobody sees the IC that took place on 44.11 ever again. Season of first boots and gross food stuff: No thank you to both. I'm okay with some early boots since there a number that managed to make an impression early enough. Early vs Runner-Up would be great to see in a year or two. Filming Outside of Fiji: Maybe someone knows what to do or how to increase the budget. Having said that, I'm okay with them staying there forever. They can still do new stuff & be creative without going someplace else. Whatever it takes to keep Survivor on the air is okay for me. The Live Reunion: Jeff's points are fair. However, there is a minor change that I would make. After the speeches & votes, let the finalists clean up, and then return 24 hours. Read the votes, crown a winner, and then celebrate. As a 2nd or 3rd place finisher, I do not want to sit through an immediate reunion feeling like crap. Then there's the 4th-place finisher. So, IMO, if they'd tweak it a little that's fine. They can all look good after nearly 4 weeks of battle while still having everything on-site. As for if/when they'd go live, if they were to do it I'd bet it would occur in 2025-2026. Maybe a little sooner, but there might be other factors. Finally, the pizza/wine thing? I have to laugh at that, but I do love both pizza & wine!
