  1. I watched the cancer fight again and it kills me that Heather's friends at the other end of the table were really not having it. Those ladies kept eating and ignoring that bullshit fight.
  2. That makes a ton more sense than anything Bethenny said about dresses and assistants. Thank you. I read your post and had an ah ha moment.
  3. Sonja's dresses are for the classes not the masses, but they're certainly not made for sitting on couches on your asses.
  4. Blake's poorly sewn tortured parachute won? I don't think this was an especially exciting runway. I found most of clothing to be fairly underwhelming. But just because most of the clothes were ho hum, doesn't mean the judges should up the WTFery and just pick nonsense to create future drama because that's what Blake's win will do. Blake is going to produce something tasteless, hideous, and vomitous next week, someone actually talented will be in danger of going home, and Tim is going use his save.
  5. I wish I knew how to post GIFs because I would post that ANTM Tyra "we were rooting for you" tyrade. Ramona this season was like watching a Globetrotters Generals game and having the Washington Generals win. It was so obvious to everyone, but her, that she had the world's easiest and best softball lobbed in her direction and she wiffed it. Not only did she wif it, she hit the umpire with her bat, belted out "I gotta be me", and jumped up and down on home plate and declared it a dozen home runs. All she had to do to win this season was be a little bit sad, a tiny bit empathetic, and slightly less rude and entitled. But she couldn't. I gotta be meeeeee! And in a certain sense there is something a little bit, not noble or admirable, but honest that Ramona can't help being the Ramonster even when she's trying to be better. It's sad that she can't really grow or change for the better, but you also know that she's not capable of being fake.
  6. I'd feel exactly the same way if John had a complaint about Kristen and Sonja. He has every right to walk away or stop it, nor would I be supportive of Sonja or Kristen if they called him no fun or a stick in the mud for being uncomfortable. No person has a right to touch people in a way that makes another uncomfortable. And different people have different thresholds for what makes them uncomfortable. Kristen's is almost certainly higher than Sonja's. I've often watched Sonja pawing at guys felt really uncomfortable. Not good for either gender. The profoundly disturbing and retrograde bullshit coming out of Dorinda's mouth scares the shit out of me. This is her third strike for me. Assuming the black guy worked at the restaurant was one. Her story about the attorney in the wheel chair was two. This mess is three. She's a mean nasty drunken bigot without any real empathetic or humanist motivations.
  7. Ugh, Chris is a smug ass. His dumb alliance has no clue that he'll throw them under the first chance he gets. Congrats idiots. I'm glad Marisa is gone; I don't know how much more I can take of Marisa and Tyler: Star crossed inked lovers. I appreciated that Craig was upset that his canvas might be upset about her tattoo. We usually see far too much ego from the inktestants. His sympathetic tears moved me and I think Craig worked hard to get his canvas something she liked. I also think he bonded with her because he wanted to put out something nice after all of the seasons where everyone talks about dark skin as if it's a curse.
  8. Jasmine is a masterful painter and I feel like Libby has been circling the drain from the beginning.
  9. Everyone knows people in relationships cannot be raped by their partners and women wearing short skirts are asking for it. Ugh, this woman! If someone feels like intimate or sexual contact goes too far, they have every right to say no and have the behavior end. Does she not realize how victim blamey she sounds. I know it's hard to hear those you care about criticized, but Dorinda has no ability to be the least bit objective. If she did she'd see that eyebrows comes off like a brat, John comes off like a handsy but mostly well meaning oaf, and Dorinda comes off like a mean nasty drunk with some really messed up stereotypes and retrograde notions.
  10. Didn't Malia live as a full time coyote up until a year ago? Why would she need Theo's help to learn how to transform back?
  11. I haven't been following her Twitter, but every time I see the two of them I want scream "get a divorce!" I'm sure there are many people tweeting the same. That's not being a hater. It's watching two people be very miserable together in a very dysfunctional relationship. I know we get a limited view of what their lives are like, but the view we get seems really unhealthy for Shannon and the kids.
  12. Hellhound. Huh. I like Theo as a villain, but the stupid contortions and machinations this show had to go to in order to make his plan successful are ludicrous. I'm beyond pissed that the completely self defense non murder that broke up Scott and Stiles has been undone. The fight as it played was bullshit and to have Donovan walking around negates the essential truth of the boys perspective. Scott's too trusting and expects everyone to hold to his standard plus he lets all manner of malevolent murderers wander about. Stiles is more suspicious; he doesn't have the supernatural abilities to fall back on so he's always going to look toward more permanent solutions to potential threats.
  13. I know what short ribs are, but Shannon didn't seem to know. She said that there was fat on them. David said that they were short ribs. Then Shannon said when she makes ribs all of the fat cooks off. I don't think that she's familiar with the different cuts. Anyone who is as concerned with her weight and calories as she is would never order short ribs if she knew what they were. Short ribs are delicious, but their rich fatty unctuousness is not for calorie counters. I've said before that if Brooks and Vicki didn't want speculation they should politely thank folks for their suggestions and say that Brooks is going to continue with the treatment he's discussed with his doctor and treatment team. But all of his soliciting names and referrals and not following up makes it seem like he doesn't want to get better or is faking his illness. He seems to have asked for a referral from Shannon and she did a warm handoff. At the very least, he should have let Shannon know that he wasn't going to go with her specialist.
  14. I call bullshit on Meghan thinking that Tommy Lee was the lead singer of Bush. Bush's heyday was when Meghan was a tween and teen and the lead singer, Gavin Rossdale is married, but separated, from OC native Gwen Stefani. I wonder how often people tweet Shannon to just divorce David. That bickering she did in front of her kids is messy as hell. Remind me to never eat ribs at Shannon's house. Hers sound dry and terrible.
  15. Sunny from Pho-Nomenal Dumplings looks like an Asian Hillary Duff. I'm also glad to have actual professionals again. Though the downside is that some of them have garbage trucks that need a ton of maintenance. I'll take that over generic trucks that don't have any of the equipment needed for the racers to execute their signature dishes. I just think back to how Seoul Sausage managed to never produce a sausage dish because they never had the equipment.
  16. Parody is protected generally under the first amendment and books written before the 1920s (in the US) are in the public domain.
  17. I feel like I only comment about the trajectory of this season rather than the episodes. In the past, I've thought that this should be Deadwood with aliens and humans. But I've missed an obvious comparison: ST DS9. I've been struck how this season in its attempts to expand the show's universe has limited it in a tremendous fashion. We've always known about the Votanis Collective, but to have so much of the story dedicated to their impending seige limited good stories that could have been toldtold about people deciding to stay or abandon Defiance because of the closure of the mines. We could have seen stories of a guerrilla version of the Earth Republic fighting an encroaching Votanis Collective that has nothing to do with Rahm Tak. We could have seen the impact of the actual cult worship of Irisa and how uncomfortable that made her both because of the death and pain she caused and how it triggered some of childhood issues. Given that Amanda made a deal to reopen the mine and share the gulanite with the Omec, there wasn't a single story beat about what Defiance is doing with their refreshed stores of gulanite. This was in motion far before Rahm Tak was on their doorstep. Knowing full well that this show isn't going to travel too far from home, they need to double down and tell the kinds of stories that can be told when disparate groups of people gather at the fringes to try to make a life and their fortunes and not grand world changing stories. More often than not there is pathos in the mundane. And if they are going to tell epic world changing stories then this show just needs to embrace that Defiance is the Hellmouth and that constant political jockeying is going to be part of the future story for Defiance.
  18. I agree. Heather tried, but Bethenny succeeded and then overwhelmed us with Skinny Girl. There was the SG brunch in the Hamptons, the SG branding summit, the SG launch party, the SG bar in the vacation home in the T&C, the SG mini bars at the cupcake decorating and at the nail salon, and the SG water she was always sipping at every scene where they wouldn't let her set up a bar. I feel like I'm missing one. Did she have a SG bar in her room in Atlantic City? Plus there was the SG red in her new apartment. There is also her SG portable mini bar when she was homeless and needed to have a display as she moved from hotel to hotel. When I start remembering ALL of the scenes it gives me PTSD. I wish they had cut some of this stuff out and given even a little of that time to Heather or Kristen. Bethenny and her SG pimping felt oppressive.
  19. There is a woman who worked for the same very small agency that I used to. She worked there about five years before I did. We used to see each other at the holiday party. We chatted from time to time. I then went to work in a legislative office and so did she. Our representatives worked a number of pieces of legislation together. She and I worked closely on those bills. I left to work at another agency and became a lobbyist. It turned out that she was quite good friends with one of my coworkers. And every time I see her now at a party at my coworker's house I always have to be introduced despite the fact that we've worked very closely on a number of projects and that I am literally the only person the US with my very unusual name. It happens. I didn't make much of a permanent impact on her and she doesn't remember me. I'm not burnt about it. Perhaps Nicole didn't make much of an impression either. Perhaps Nicole and her tale of woe about Adam didn't make that big of impact on Carole. As a person who Carole barely remembers, Carole isn't required and doesn't have a duty to care about Nicole's feelings. And if I found myself in Nicole's position, I might be a little annoyed that his next girlfriend after me was old enough to be his mom. But if I was cool enough to travel to Nicaragua with him, then I would assume we were cool on most of our issues.
  20. I actually think Heather has pushed her line quite hard this season, but Bravo chose not to show any of it. I think because Bravo spent one million to get Bethenny back and one of conditions seems to be lots of opportunities to showcase Skinny Girl they cut Heather's Yummie Tummie stories out so this season didn't feel like competing infomercials. We saw in flashback that Heather opened a Yummie Tummie boutique in a department store that was filmed. All of the jeans at Kristen's charity event were Yummie Tummie. Heather gave all of the ladies Yummie Tummie gift bags on vacation and LuAnn was chiding Heather to "be cool" wearing Yummie products.
  21. Typically these hands free devices are marketed towards playing with your partner. Your partner controls how you get off, which makes it doubly absurd that Alden has the app on his phone but doesn't know what it is. And yes it is really ludicrous that Dora was so pressed that she left the vibe in and didn't even think to pull it out on the drive over.
  22. I can't believe they made jokes about HBO, The Leftovers, and Looking. It makes me wonder if they pitched to HBO and HBO passed. I agree that this is a meaner version of Seinfeld.
  23. MC Mom was very funny, but I think my favorite was the cold open. I don't know the last time I loved one of the opening sketches. I thought it was a funny, deep, subtle exploration of stereotypes and biased expectations. Everyone is so used to expecting gunfire when you see a black guy with something in his hand in a low rider. Only Keegan's character could see that Jordan was a buster with a cardboard car and a licorice gun. The only way Jordan's character is a threat is if you are so distracted by laughing at him that someone actually dangerous sneaks up and kills you.
  24. Pretend to be in a relationship because I lied to my parents and vibrator accidentally controlled by someone else. Sitcom cliches that were so dumb and hoary even a decade ago. While I like the actors, I have no faith that the writing will improve. Here's hoping it's cancelled and they show up on far better vehicles for their talent.
