I don't remember Sweet Home Alabama as part of a tourism ad. Well, Jeopardy got rid of one irritating woman. Now there's a new one--the new champ (F D Romanowski bit the dust). There's something about this woman that irritates me as well. Maybe because she's acting a bit precocious? I don't know what it is but I was hoping either of the men would win. I have to say I was very proud of myself for getting balk, something a pitcher does. Prior to the Nats coming to town, I'd never have known what a balk is (the Nats taught me a lot about baseball).

Funny! This reminds me of some show where they kept the contest answers in a mayonnaise jar on the back porch. Was that Johnny Carson or Laugh-In? I have to say I welcome the new champion. Blondie was getting on my last nerve. Can't believe the TS in Jeopardy (I said grocery store...AT said supermarket but grocery store was acceptable).

Leonovo & Khvalko...didn't recognize her at all but there was something about Khvalko that made him look familiar (maybe his height, dark hair...). I remember when they first showed up at pro competitions. We learned that they'd never competed as a team on the amateur level but got together as pros & built a career skating on cruise ships. They were *really* good.

I sure didn't recognize Brian Boitano! When did he lose his hair? Shock of all shocks. I only recognized Natalia (loved her pairs skating with The Great Artur...too bad he's not in these photos standing next to gorgeous, still slender Natalia, heh heh) and Paul (my favorite male figure skater of all time), with his same beautiful smile. So who are the rest? Guess I'm weird because I still love Hallelujah. And Mariah skated so well to this music, IMO. I've never heard anyone screech this song so maybe that's why I still like it (I don't watch Idol). I'm ready for some more skating - bring on 4CC's !

Well, sorry, but H/D are following in the skatesteps of V/M, complete with the adoring stares at each other, as they approach center ice. *And* did y'all see Hubble running her hands all over her partner's chest as they waited rink-side for the warm-up? It was a sight to behold. I'm weary of lyrics already. I want to concentrate on the skaters, not think about the singer and the song. P.S. I'm also weary of the Knierems. They said, at the end of the 2018 O's, that they were thinking of starting a family. But here they are again, with all their pairs (will he fall again?) drama.

Thank God for that TS (Everglades) and FJ. I was feeling rather dumb tonight. But, I just knew it had to be Frost. He's so New England. Good Fences Make Good Neighbors!

OK, ChicksDigScars...we're waiting for your critique of HD's free dance. It's a gloomy Monday here so I'm looking to be cheered up ๐ I usually don't watch 4CC but *this* year I definitely will!

Last night we had meatloaf, mashed potatoes, green peas & onions, and a small salad of sliced tomato, cucumber & red onion w/ homemade Thousand Island dressing on the side.

Congrats to Chock & Bates! The choreography of their FD is fascinating and their incredible lifts are stunning. That move to Gadbois was so smart. And Carriera & Ponomarenko? They sure don't look like they've only recently moved up to seniors. I really like them. The only thing I don't like about ice dance now is all the sliding on the ice (or rolling!) Remember when so many teams were "dying" on the ice?

Three quarters of the way into Mariah's LP, I started to hear the audience. (It was so much like Kwan's LP's, when Michelle said she could no longer hear her music due to the audience noise). Then they were on their feet. I too wish she had won, but I'm glad she experienced this, esp after so many frustrating times at previous Nationals. I love watching her skate. Her style reminds me of Michelle, Alissa Czney, Sasha, Jennifer (Kirk??), and some others whose names I can't remember.

Well, isn't she special. That's obnoxious. Karma, toots, karma. S/K are more interesting to watch, IMO, anyway. I guess Papadakis caught the Scott attitude when they all trained together.

This was the short program so I believe they must do a drawing. In the long program, Nathan will probably be last.
-
I noticed during both the short & long programs, that Rafael seems to have thawed. He was always The Great Stoneface in the K&C. But now we see him smiling, heck--even laughing! He does have excellent skaters. Maybe this has cheered him up.

Speaking of that awful song, I've never heard any singer before pronounce daddy as "daddd-dee". I finally had to hit the mute button. That was a wonderful audience reaction to H/B's RD. I think they loved the BeeGees music as well as the skating. I sure did. Didn't have my camera ready but I *loved* Madison's many efforts to keep a smile on her face.

Me too...they are the only ladies skaters I enjoy watching...Mariah especially. IMO, she's what figure skating is all about, the blend of athleticism with artistry. Too bad about that slip (as Scott Hamilton always said, "Ice is slippery" ๐--remember the gazillion times we had to hear that?) Oh, yeah skate gods...please watch over C/B. Think I'll have my camera ready tonight & tomorrow to catch the twins' expressions if/when another team beats them. I've gone back to watch Bollywood, the Coldplay FD, and the queen's 1996 LP. Geez... the first two teams' music was awful to my ears--had to hit the mute. Green/Parsons are amazing for such a brand new team!

Oh, no! Did that oversize leprechaun get ousted tonight by a new champion? Awww...I'll miss him & his oddities. I was at book club tonight so I guess it's just as well. Au revoir, Dennis.

When a skater is going to do a lutz, his/her left (?) leg kicks waaaay back and then crashes down onto the ice to power the skater into the air. So, these are the only jumps I recognize--axel & lutz โบ
-
Loved the ice skating clue! Nationals starts tomorrow (won't be on TV until Thursday...NBCSN). The axel (named after a Norwegian skater) is the only jump in which the skater is going forward. The great Dick Button taught me that๐

I guess I'm the odd person out here cause Austin & Dennis don't bother me. They're just good ol' nerds. Not mean or braggarts. Just Jeopardy-smart!
-
Aww...well, I'm embarrassed to admit that I didn't do so hot tonight--esp after reading that you all did so well. For FJ, I wrote "Mr Somebody Goes To Washington". I could *not* remember his name (altho' I know Jimmy Stewart was the main character). Never saw this movie. Hope that gives me a major excuse ๐

Maine Cabin Masters - General Discussion
annzeepark914 replied to Meredith Quill's topic in Maine Cabin Masters
I forgot all about MCM being on last night. It's been so long since they were on every week that I get out of practice. -
That TS about MASH was easy. Alan Alda really changed that show once he began directing (and getting involved in story lines). It went from hilarious to maudlin, IMO. Ash Wednesday's big clue was that it was a mid-week happening (and what else happens mid week anyway?) I did not get any of the hidden gems ;>(

Was Matthew the guy in the middle? I liked him and hoped he'd win. So Dennis the Menace is back with us again tomorrow. Just when you think he's done for...he climbs out of the pit and starts moving on up until he wins. I too could only think of Sec of State. I knew there were few cabinet positions in GW's day but never thought of Atty Gen. It's funny...this afternoon I was thinking of 30 Something (probably because I heard She Drives Me Crazy on the car radio) and remembering that there was so much written about it being a show filled with whiners. When I finally decided to watch it, I thought, "They're not whining. They're discussing their lives". ๐

Pet Peeves: Aka Things That Make You Go "Gah!"

Is it just me or is anybody else getting sick of seeing/hearing about Meghan & Harry? I believe he has emotional issues and is being taken advantage of...but I'm tired of seeing pictures & articles about them every daggone day. -
Small Talk: "I'll Take Non-Show Chat For $400, Alex."

If it were me, I'd let it go. That's a long time, in and out of very cold weather. And w/o food? Poor guy.
