  1. Oh! I’ve been wanting to try that place but I don’t get into town much now that I’m working from home. I guess I’m going to have to make more of an effort to leave the house. I agree. I felt like there was way too much marshmallow, and definitely not melty enough. Abdul’s were actually closer to how my s’mores look. Kevin’s comment about not wanting to have to give a leaving speech in that shirt, as well as his fear of child prodigies cracked me up (I forgot he’s a musician). I seriously envied Janusz’s zebra boots. His joy is so endearing.
  2. He was so hopeful that his “humble” dumplings would do well. I just wanted to hug him when they didn’t turn out as he hoped.
  3. I’ve been seeing the drawings….? During this episode I was just thinking about how much I appreciate them.
  4. The bakers giggling over the instructions in the technical made me laugh. Janusz: “The method was ‘Make the pie,’ so I was like, ‘I’m gonna make the pie.’ Made the pie. Won the pie. Great.” Seriously, is there anyone cuter than Janusz?
  5. I agree 100%. It feels like they’ve been told they need to squeeze in a minimum number of f***s in order to maintain their streaming cred. Edgy! Yeah, I would much rather have Katie’s tattoo than Tony’s. Anthony was lucky to end up with a fan who was willing to listen and let him meet the brief. I also liked the sly “you can get blue water when you come to the shop” comment. Anthony: Canvas Whisperer.
  6. Not to mention we pronounce it “Rio Grand” but somehow manage to say “Grahnday” when it’s a Starbucks beverage or an Ariana.
  7. Oh, goody! Another Walker Family Member In Jeopardy episode! Time for a Walker Vigil! Siiiiiiggggghhhhh
  8. I liked the signature and the showstopper, but yeah, the tacos were weird. No press? I just learned how to make tortillas and though I haven’t mastered it, it’s not particularly hard. I’m from the American Pacific Northwest and Mexican food is a staple. Their bewilderment over tacos: how much filling, the seasonings, how to cook a tortilla, what refried beans look like, pico de gallo - all of it - floored me until I remembered my trips to London in the early aughts and not being able to find Mexican food anywhere. Weirdly, whenever I travel overseas I get overwhelming cravings for chicken enchiladas and nachos. In London when I shopped for taco ingredients I couldn’t find tortillas. I had to buy a taco kit that included those pre-folded, crispy tortillas. With directions for making tacos. The only place I could get anything remotely Mexican-ish was at Hard Rock Cafe (they had fajitas!). So yeah, it looks like Mexican food hasn’t quite taken off since my last trip. Oh, but yes, the jokes and stereotypes were so cringey. Maracas? Sombreros? A giant, random mustache on a cake? Abdul’s skulls were cute but they weren’t sugar skulls. They were skulls of sugar. Was he planning to decorate them properly and he just ran out of time?
  9. That was hard for me to watch. I like when players are loose and having fun, but they need to, you know, play the game. Simu, Ego, and Andy hit it just right in the first game, but these three…it really did feel like a parody. Does Eddie have a medical condition that requires the sunglasses? Because if it’s just his “thing,” it was kind of rude. I actually like Mayim; she was one of my top two for the permanent gig. Ken was my other choice, so I’m satisfied. Mayim isn’t as smooth yet but I think she’ll get there if she’s given a chance.
  10. Wow, I was sure it was going to be Anthony. Sure, he met the brief better than Steve did (I guess?), but as much as I like Anthony I thought his Acropolis was a hot mess. Steve’s tattoo was at least nice to look at. I loved Angel’s and Katie’s tattoos, though I think Angel kind of fudged a bit where everyone else actually morphed the realism into the new school aspects. I loved that she added a UFO! When they said “new school landmarks” I did hope they would show us Kelly’s fabulous new school colosseum as an example.
  11. Star Caker made me giggle last week, and the feather misunderstanding had me giggling this week. Between Noel comforting Carole and Janusz helping Rebs (twice!), it’s just such a joy to watch a show where people are nice to each other. I love this show so much.
  12. Maybe, but I’ve seen the judges think one artist did a tattoo only to be surprised that a different one did it. I just think it would be interesting to see Anthony and Angel go head to head in black & grey in a blind judging where each of them has to do the same subject or something. Anthony is definitely my favorite of the four winners here, but really the only one I’m not crazy about is Steve. Yes, he’s talented but I often feel like his tattoos are just too busy.
  13. I have no kids, but if I did I’d send them where they’d get the best education I could afford, regardless of religion. Kristin was raised Catholic and maybe she had a good experience with Catholic school? I seriously doubt it’s 8 hours a day of catechism.
  14. I think if they’re going to stick around the show needs to switch to blind judging. But yeah, that panther was gorgeous.
  15. While I’m not a fan of this episode’s twist (also not a fan of cliffhangers), watching Gian dump his “alliance” to follow DJ around like a puppy would be hilarious. If DJ stays, that is.
  16. That’s the one my mom uses on her Red Velvet cakes, and what she taught me to do! I’ve never known what it was called; it’s just “the frosting for Red Velvet cake.”
  17. Syabira’s red velvet cake was beautiful. So was Sandro’s. I grew up with red velvet cake; my mom has been making it since before it was cool (really; for almost 30 years the only place I ever got it was mom’s kitchen and then suddenly it seemed like the rest of America discovered it because it’s everywhere now). One thing I kept wanting to yell at them was you’re supposed to make a well in the batter, put the baking soda in the center, then add the vinegar and gently fold in the mixture while it’s fizzing. I thought Carol’s showstopper and Star Caker Janusz’s signature bakes were beautiful. Paul giving himself a handshake over his blueberry muffins cracked me up. Will was the right choice to go home. It’s always sad but by the time he had messed up his third bake I was cringing for him.
  18. Yeah, the one who really seems to be taking things too seriously is Gian, and he’s still coming across to me as desperate. It’s annoying and sad; I don’t like him but he should have more trust in his own talent. I can’t really blame Angel and Bob (and Hiram 🥹) for sticking together because they just spent an entire season doing exactly that, and even Angel’s previous season was a team-focused one, but I do wish they hadn’t fallen so easily into Gian’s scheming. At this point I’m kind of rooting for Jason (who seems to be mostly above the high-schoolish “alliance” nonsense), or Katie (who is just pretty awesome). Also: I liked the tiger better than the alligator.
  19. Whoo boy. I like Chapel Hart but they were waaaaay off key last night. I had to fast-forward most of their performance because I couldn’t take it. I agree with other posters who thought the Mayyas performed better in their other two appearances. I mean, they still looked amazing but after being absolutely wowed the other two times, my reaction to last night’s performance was “it’s great but the audience is definitely overreacting.” Ventriloquists freak me out. Celia Munoz does not. I’m happy she got a second chance and agree with Simon that this performance was so much better than her Grease tribute a couple of weeks ago. I thought both magicians were pretty average. Good-average, but they both telegraph their tricks too much. And Yu Hojin’s table was so dark I kept not watching his hands because I was trying to see what the dim light was hiding. Mike E. Winfield made me laugh a few times, which is more than most of the comedians do. Sara’s rendition of “Running Up that Hill” slowed down an already slow song. I actually do watch Stranger Things, but then I’m old enough to have been in high school the first time the song made it big, and I just don’t feel like Sara brought anything new to it. I recognize that she’s talented; I just don’t think it was a great song choice. Drake. You know, I am pulling for the Mayyas in spite of their “oh, that looked nice” performance but will not be at all surprised if Ameriker votes for him.
  20. The same thing happened with me. I checked next week’s schedule in the same time slot and it’s not there (I hoped I could cancel my Paramount+ and just watch it on cable). I suspect they tossed the first episode to cable to make sure people know it’s back, but the rest of the season will be exclusively on streaming. I’ve seen that with several shows.
  21. I don’t care for Gian (or his mini-Oliver look) so far at all. Also, his “let’s make an ALLIANCE” so early just felt desperate to me. He’s talented, sure, but they all are, and that alliance thing screams “I need protection.” I loved Hiram’s astronaut and I’m so glad Joel pointed out that Katie’s tattoo disturbed them all because it was meant to mimic Goya’s (disturbing) work. Judge Ami’s terse comments make me laugh.
  22. That really bugged me. No packs, no gear, not even decent walking shoes or obvious weapons. It felt like they were just popping over to the neighbor’s for coffee.
  23. Their story is actually tragic. I have to say I agree with most of the comments about the beautiful overall look. I like Galadriel and Arindor, who actually look like elves, but yeah, Gil-galad, Celebrimbor, and Elrond do totally look like three dudes in costumes. I’m not sure yet how I feel about Galadriel as this warrior maiden. I mean, I’m sure she had to have had some kind of past beyond dispensing gifts and wisdom, but it’s taking some adjustment. Also: how does Galadriel think she’s going to survive her swim?
  24. Get out of my head!!!! I yell this at the tv all the time, and not just for this show!
