I'm starting to feel sorry for Olivia. I am not a fan of her but I'm feeling sad for her.

IIRC medical issues from silicone breast leakage is also controversial (not really controversial since medical evidence is clear but controversial due to public opinion not based on medical facts to my knowledge). So was that her problem or was it Lyme. Based on medical research, there has been no link shown between silicone implants and autoimmune disease* so I can't see her arguing that it compromised her immune system which prohibited her from fighting off lyme disease. Actually I can see her saying that since she knows more than doctors and the medical evidence gathered by research (she likely relies on antidotal evidence [and bogus claims from snake oil salesmen] rather than stronger research). *I used uptodate which is a website that I can access (for free) through my academic affiliations. It keeps up with all the relevant research as it is published and so you can look up Lyme disease or silicone breast implants. For diseases you can read about pathogenesis, risk factors, symptoms, signs, differential diagnoses, testing, treatment, prognosis and so much more. Here is some of what it had (what I found relevant from UpToDate) about silicone breast implants: "Silicone and breast reconstruction — In some patients, silicone gel implants allow for more natural contour and texture in the reconstructed breast than do saline-filled implants. Adverse publicity about a possible link between silicone implants and autoimmune diseases (despite the lack of substantive evidence) led to a moratorium on their use in 1992. Epidemiologic studies and a meta-analysis failed to support a causative relationship [23-28], leading the American College of Rheumatology to conclude in 1995 that silicone implants expose patients to no demonstrable additional risk for connective tissue or rheumatologic disease. After extensive review of the data and a report from the Institute of Medicine, the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) also concluded that there was no convincing evidence linking silicone implants with connective tissue disease. Restrictions on their use were lifted in 2006 [29]. The FDA recommends that all women with silicone implants undergo regular MRI screening throughout their lifetimes to assess for leakage (silent rupture), starting three years after the first implant surgery and every two years thereafter [30]. However, there is little evidence to support a recommendation for regular MRI screening, which is expensive and may lead to anxiety and false positive results, resulting in unnecessary surgery. Therefore, most experts agree that breast MRI should be used as a confirmatory diagnostic test and not be used to screen asymptomatic women for implant rupture [31,32]. (See "MRI of the breast and emerging technologies", section on 'Assessment of breast implants'.) Three primary implant manufactures of silicone gel breast implants in the USA have demonstrated the relative safety of the shaped silicone gel implants at a minimum follow-up of five years based upon incidence of rupture (2 to 7.5 percent) and capsular contracture (10 to 11 percent) [33-35]. ..."

Southland and Breaking Bad are powerful shows that I rank up there with The Wire. Breaking Bad may take some viewers a couple episodes to fully get into it.

Have you all seen or heard about the video clip of Jeremy snorting cocaine off a woman's vagina then, I think, performing oral sex on her? I guess it's not really relevant since it occurred prior to him entering the house and probably all or most of them in the house have used drugs in the past... I would post the link to it (video clip on twitter) but I'm not sure I am allowed to since it is very graphic -
Thanks! I figured it was like using a defibrillator during CPR or during cardioversion...don't touch the body when shocking it:-)

Friday Night Tykes - General Discussion
Vicky8675309 replied to Meredith Quill's topic in Friday Night Tykes
who did Taydion (sp?) end up with? I worry that some of the higher profile kids are going to be targeted more than others. Wasn't there some other kid last year (mayzel--phonetic spelling since I can't remember how it was spelled) who was also super talented...what happened to him? Was the Snoop Dog they were referring to the music artist in California? -
Wouldn't he have shocked himself when he grabbed the victim's arm and shocked the arm? In other words, if you touch someone when you are tasering him/her, wouldn't the electrical current spread from them to you since you are touching their bare flesh?

Caution---lots of boring stuff below (sorry) Pathognomonic: A sign or symptom that is so characteristic of a disease that it can be used to make a diagnosis. MPRAGE, to my understanding, is a sequencing technique that can done on some MRIs. Usually with MRIs of the brain you get the following sequences~series of images or pictures of cuts through the brain that have "water" that varies in darkness, i.e., more fluid dense areas like the ventricles with cerebrospinal fluid, csf, look darker or lighter then the white matter (axons which are the connections between neurons/cell bodies) and grey matter (neurons = brain cells): T1 (csf is dark), T2 (csf is light), Proton Density (various shades of grey), Diffusion T1 and T2 (poor resolution but can show acute changes faster), Perfusion (similar results to Diffusion but lesion should be opposite color from Diffusion to be an acute stroke so an acute stroke may not show up super early on T1, T2, PD images but will be bright on Diffusion and dark on Perfusion) sequences. Basically the shading of white to grey to black of the images is determined by sequences. In general, for me, T1 is good at looking at anatomy, T2 is good for looking at edema and white matter, PD is the best at looking at white matter and edema, Diffusion and Perfusion are best for acute stroke and other acute lesions (new active MS lesion). I don't think MPRAGE is used much but it sounds like it can better determine if lesions are cortical, subcortical or mixed for lesions located at or near the grey white junction (in neurology, we call the connections between brain cells axons which are the white matter whereas the brain cells [aka neurons] are called grey matter). Different signs and symptoms are localized to different parts of the brain. So if someone has right face/arm/leg weakness then the lesion is below the left cortex. If someone has right face/arm weakness and language problems but no right leg weakness then most likely left cortical lesion rather than subcortical. For various reasons it may be important to better characterize lesions as pure cortical, subcortical or mixed. In other words, some of the mixed ones may actually be cortical or subcortical and so MPRAGE may better separate out some of the ones that are mixed on non-prage sequences. Maybe for monitoring response to therapy and other reasons…etc Lyme affecting the brain is rare compared to MS (multiple sclerosis) but they can look alike and they can both look like common microvascular changes. MS can has lesions that are more ovoid and perpendicular to the lateral ventricles and some lesions can have involvement of the corpus callosum but nothing pathognomonic. What is important is the clinical context--the history of present illness (details about the symptoms), exam findings, labs, imaging….put it all together to get a diagnosis. I kind of made generalizations by oversimplifying everything, yet still made it sound like a rambling mess. Sorry! It's easier if there are specific questions. Also I am not a radiologist so explaining techniques and imaging sequences comes more from a clinical/neurological point of view. Basically, from what I gather, MPRAGE is a sequencing technique done on some MRIs which can be helpful in better characterizing mixed lesions into subcortical white matter or cortical grey matter or true mixed. Yolanda had a MRI and posted one picture of an obscure sequence of her MRI. I've never seen the MPRAGE sequence technique before. However it was a sagittal slice going through the corpus callosum and that is a good slice--at least for MS (no, I don't think she has MS). I have no idea if Yolanda has any disease or not. I have never examined her. I can't read the image she posted and I don't even know if it is her image. I assume it is hers but I have no experience with MPRAGE. Initially I thought it was a weird spect scan, which I also don't have a ton of experience with (same goes for pet scans). I'm good with regular T1, T2, PD, DW and perfusion scans of the brain and cord but a neuroradiologist is usually better. I'm ok with MRAs (MR of the arteries) of the brain and neck. I'm so-so with head MRVs (MR of the veins). There maybe other things about MPRAGE that I left out but that article was kind of "dry" and I wasn't sure how technical to get.

what was up when Phaedra caught Kim's oldest child looking strange (nicest way I could describe the look) on her phone's video? Phaedra acted startled or disgusted. It was sort of funny. Cynthia crawled up Nene's ass and obviously isn't a real friend to Kenya. Cynthia deserves Nene. Kim was right to take her children out of the room when they were fussy/whining and/or she didn't want them exposed to the subject matter. However I am still not a fan of Kim based on all her prior time on this show. I guess I liked her as an actress (loved her on The Facts of Life) but I'm not a fan of the real person as shown on this show. -

Megan is ok so far imo. Darren seems like a nice guy but is coming across as very weak and pathetic. I'd say that even if he was female. I think I see him that way partly because the other housemates are fighting battles on his behalf. He didn't ask them to "battle" for him but the fact that they seem so protective of him just comes off as weak imo. He does seem sincere and maybe the story he wants is "victim" or "weak" to then later become "strong". IDK. I do think he handled Tiff in the garden well when she talked about him walking away from her. He came off good in that situation so maybe, for me, it is the other housemates over protection of him that I find annoying. I don't mind manipulators and I think John and Gemma are both extremely manipulative. I didn't like it when John tried to ostracize Tiff and I don't like Gemma's obvious two faced behavior with Tiff (plus stealing the shoes and saying Tiff's feet were fat). If Gemma just stuck with stirring the pot then I'd be ok with her but she went to far. -

This won't be popular here but I am enjoying Tiffany. I never saw her on her original show but I've watch The Bad Girls Club (lol, so you know I have bad tastes, lol) and imagine she is was like one of those characters. Anyway I am enjoying her on CBB. Megan can go 24 hours without eating and I think she just had enough of John's manipulations (coupled with being more disinhibited from drinking) and had a tantrum. What she said was correct but she said it the wrong way (shouting in a tantrum) -
I still don't see why the FBI cares about new union leadership. The FBI the prior season no longer cared about drug racketeering crimes and transitioned into just caring about stuff related to terrorism despite the formation of Homeland Security which we saw the 1st season.

I find Yolanda to be disgusting! Her constant contradictions point toward malingering rather than brain damage and I am confident that real neuropsychological testing would show that to be the case. I no longer think it is unconscious motivating factors causing her complaints but rather conscious malingering.

There is really no need to be condescending. I'm sure many here who question the mocking, myself included, consider the show as a whole and all the seasons (the gestalt). Please don't feel compelled to explain why your "panties in a twist" about her being "mocked". You brought it up so I didn't think it was a sensitive topic. Sorry for questioning you about the sensitive topic of mocking vs discussing a reality show actress who happens to be an alcoholic and probable drug addict. You may want to avoid SNL but I guess she isn't famous enough for them to do skits about her. -
I always seem to be a day ahead of everyone. I guess the episodes are leaked for streaming before they air or are available through the network. Great episode!

I'm sad that the viewers voted for Amanda to get the rose--just because she told Ben that she has 2 young kids. I'm glad she didn't get the rose at the party!

So Amanda and many viewers in Bachelor Nation feel that Amanda deserved a rose at the party due to her having 2 young kids and telling Ben about them? I'm glad he didn't give her a rose at the party.
