  1. Good lord, this was embarrassing. This set having a woman as President back a bit. I liked the idea of showing young Claire so maybe we could figure out how she turned out the way she did---but it was a mess. I kind of wish she and Doug had just killed each other and the last shot had been the 2 of them in a pool of blood with the Secret Service in the doorway trying to figure out what happened. I was glad when someone suggested the baby would have been Tom's--Claire and Tom would have had a cute little girl with at least a 50% chance of not being a psycho. This show went steadily down hill since Beau Willimon ran it---when Spacey was fired they should have let it go.
  2. After Andy and Jeff got into a tiff, maybe he's having her on to make Jeff mad. Or maybe its her week to go.
  3. No Rachel tonight--Ali Velshi just announced he was in for her tonight.
  4. I did not mind the wallpaper--it made the couch make sense, but if I spent $50K on a room I would not want a home-made flooring table top. And I find that style of dining chair to be uncomfortable. Thom likes a lot more "stuff" than is my taste. I usually like the basic choices he makes in terms of colors and materials but then I always get a little overwhelmed with the accessories. The color scheme --with the pinks and purples felt kind of 80's (I had a mauve room back then) but maybe now that is considered retro?
  5. The Gary Hart movie is The Front Runner--starring Hugh Jackman with very interesting hair. I've seen several promos recently for it. Rachel's producers were great---much better than when she sent a producer to pick up her wax presidential figure. I want to know why she sent Lawrence flowers. :)

MSNBC will have live programming on Saturday night this week due to the upcoming election---Stephanie Ruhle, Ari Melber and Lawrence's shows will be live--I think the promo said starting at 7 pm,

Peter Alexander moving up --I like him, so nice to see him get a chance. http://www.vulture.com/2018/10/peter-alexander-joins-today-but-not-replacing-megyn-kelly.html
  8. Joyce's husband, Bob Vance Jr was on one of the earlier shows last night talking about his father's killing. I thought it was very generous of him to appear given what his parents and family went through. I think it was either on The Beat or Hardball.
  9. I agree. He is funny but not as big a goof as Chip. I have been watching several of the flip shows recently and I notice with some--including this one--that in the first season, they start out being pretty careful with the budgets, doing more of the work themselves, and by the second season, the budgets are much bigger, and they have crews doing most of the work--the formula seems to be they talk a lot about all the issues with the house, then talk a lot about the money---then something goes wrong that isn't planned, then they fix it, stage the hell out of the place, and sell it for a profit. I"m sure as they have to crank out a full season they have to distill things down to that to produce that many flips. I do miss the brother that was on the first year--I thought he was pretty good an he seemed to have some skills that they used a lot. I do think on Desert Flippers she has a really good eye for the style of houses they do--very modern, lots of color, lots of tile. She does a pretty good job.
  10. Another article about Jeff's contract https://www.realityblurred.com/realitytv/2018/10/jeff-lewis-flipping-out-bravo-contract-expires-soon/ I dunno.....this feels as staged as the rest of the show is.

More weekend news: https://deadline.com/2018/10/msnbc-up-with-david-gura-returns-al-sharpton-politicsnation-moved-to-5-pm-1202481828/ I like David Gura, so this is good news for me.
  12. I watch most nights and I find that Chris Hayes and Rachel both get me wired up and Lawrence, even when he's angry will somehow calm me down. I really was glad to see Nadya. He's had her before and she is always a good interview. When I think of all we go through in our country for the last 2 years, I think about what people like her have gone through for years in their country. Puts things in perspective and makes me want to fight more.

Reverend Al was on The Beat today and he just announced that his show is moving to 5 pm on both Saturday and Sunday nights. Not sure if it will be an hour or half-hour. I think his current show was only half.
  14. Goodness, I'm probably behind, but I watch a lot of HGTV online with an Amazon Fire stick and I did an update last night and suddenly there are ALL the shows. Before I had access to mostly current shows but now the updated app has a ton of older shows I loved like Design on a Dime, 2 of Vern Yip's shows, the gardening shows, lots of things I have not seen for years. I watched a show I'd never seen that was about Genevieve Gorder -she bought the apartment next to hers and made one big apartment. I can only take so much of Gen, but it was only 6 episodes and her place turned out beautiful except I thought putting a soaker bathtub in her office. She was planning to have co-workers and clients there so that seemed strange to me.
  15. The one I was thinking of was Home to Go --but the host was a man--they would do really simple inexpensive makeovers for renters. The host was Peter Fallico I think. The other one I can think of waslater--F or Rent with Jodie Gilmour---she would help them look for the apartment, advise them on the lease and then come up with a design for the new apartment. Not sure if either one is the one you are thinking of.
  16. Since Jeff is the one on social media, I've always assumed Gage is the one taking the pictures of him and Monroe that they post on Jeff's accounts. I have always liked Gage--he got a rough start with the Zoila issues, but now I like him more for the way he clearly loves their little girl. I am not sure I can keep watching now because when I see them all together I can't help thinking of the relationships Jeff has cut off when he's felt wronged, and worrying about Monroe if that ever happens. I have always loved Jeff and the way he has treated his family and his pets has gone a long way with me even if he is not always great to all of the humans in his life but this may be getting too real for me. I like Frankie--he seems like he will turn out to be a good JLD employee if he ever gets some training. They should have had Jenny work with him more if they didn't want her in the office since they hired another assistant--let her be their corporate trainer since she knows the business inside out.
  17. I really like this show. It was just an accident that the day before I started watching it, I watched the documentary on Netflix about Jim Carrey playing Andy Kaufman on Netflix. I really have not seen that many of Jim Carrey's movies--I'm not a big fan of his broader comedy movies, but I loved Eternal Sunshine, and that plus being intrigued by the Jim Carrey who narrated the documentary made me give it a try. I love Jeff Pickles and I wish his family was able to let him grieve the way he needs to--I don't think it would be the catastrophe his father thinks. I am also a huge Catherine Keener fan and I'm fascinated by her storyline with her husband and daughter so far. And when they introduced Jill's new boyfriend I gasped..."Andy!" (from Weeds--he's an old favorite). Unusual show, probably not one for everyone, but I like it so far.
  18. I agree, she definitely needs more TV seasoning to be able to host---Jonathan does pretty well now but he's been subbing in for Joy for over a year so he's had a lot of chances to get better. I think Maya is so reasoned and calm and really good at arguing her point in a very approachable way, I would love to see her and some not-crazy right wing person be able to discuss the news maybe from a legal standpoint. Maya also has a lot of other jobs so she might also not want more to do! I am a straight woman too and I kind of love her too.
  19. So happy to see the short wig is back--she looks so much nicer with her old hair! They had her back to co-host last night for Rachel and I was glad to see her---they haven't had her do that for a while--and I was afraid maybe it was due to some of her outside issues that have been in the press. She's helping host the concert today (I think she and Chris did it last year too) and her show today was really excellent--she had an A-team panel on and it felt like she kind of had her mojo back. I love Jonathan and I'd love to see him get a chance--but he just took on a nightly radio show on WNYC so I'm not sure if he would want more-he has his Post columns, and his podcast too. I'm shipping Maya Wiley--she has just blossomed since they made her an official analyst (or whatever her title is)--not sure she's ready to do a show yet but she's on a lot and I really look forward to seeing what she has to say. The other under utilized person I'd like to see given a shot is Tremaine Lee--he does some small documentary type pieces sometimes and he did a lot of coverage of the family separations on the border. He is one of the best interviewers I've seen and his pieces are really beautiful. I'd love to see someone like him get a chance to create some content on the weekends instead of seeing re-runs of weekday prime time shows on Saturday night. They have a lot of talent like him and why not let them do some kind of show like Bill Weir does on CNN? Back to Joy, she was full of pep today and I really liked the show--hope she's back to her old self after a hard summer.
  20. Friday night's show was one of the best LOD shows I can remember (other than the ones he does when he shows his trips to deliver desks). The two women Lawrence spoke with who had come forward to disagree with Kavanaugh's narrative on Fox News about not being a drinker and to tell their stories about knowing him at that age were amazing. What I loved about them was that they were so calm and fair and made it so clear that their intention was NOT to sensationalize the situation, but rather they took this appointment seriously--and the last woman who said that she spoke out because she feels so strongly that truth in our public discourse is SO important and if we cannot believe what a Supreme Court Justice tells us, all is lost. After a horrible 2 days of anger and hatred and finger pointing to hear these two normal everyday women speak like that was so damn inspiring--it, along with the compromise that the committee came to yesterday--give me a little bit of hope. Lawrence's perspective on this current situation is so valuable because of his long history working in government--that I really enjoyed his show last night.
  21. More legal problems for Joy. https://www.thewrap.com/joy-reid-sued-defamation-trump-supporter-viral-photo/
  22. I miss Rachel's Friday night trivia with prizes and cocktails. Hopefully someday the news will slow down enough to let her do that once in a while again.
